Albert, Gargallo Jordi.

The ideal profile of this teacher was determined, based on a theoretic review which allowed the formation of a structural scheme of competitions of the specialist teacher learning difficulties and the interview to the experts in the area, to create a reference point and compare it with the true profile that recognizes the specialist teacher in the classroom, from which are derived the needs of formation of this professional group. A mixed methodology was used, which combines interviews to the experts, surveys to professors, and document analyses. The conclusions show the importance of creating processes of permanent formation, with the help of technology, to attend to the necessities of formation of this group of teachers disseminated throughout the geography of the Táchira State, Venezuela, for which the Universidad Nacional Abierta has many strengths.
Guo, Jingxuan.
The acquisition of prepositions has always been one of the most complex aspects of foreign language learning. This may due to many factors, such as the contextual polysemy of different prepositions, the synonymy of several prepositions which are meant to be used in similar situations and the internal heterogeneity within each language. The main purpose of this dissertation is to determine the difficulty in the acquisition of Spanish prepositions by Chinese native speakers, by means of analyzing the mistakes they made. The present investigation is based on data collected from a series of activities that contain several tasks. 40 Chinese students with a Spanish level ranging from A1-B2 took part in the experiment. Mistakes on the following prepositions were analyzed: a, con, de, en, para and por. This investigation used a double criterion, both descriptive and etiological. If the mistakes were mainly caused by their mother language or other previously learned ones, it would be considered as interlingual transfer, whereas if the mistakes were committed due to the lack of knowledge or contradictory rules of the language itself, then it would be classified as intralingual transfer. The results show that, on the one hand, the prepositions de, a, en, con, por and para, in this order, seem to those which yielded more mistakes in the written part; on the other hand, por seems to be the preposition that displayed the highest percentage of errors, followed by para. This thesis also synthesized the prepositional functions of these prepositions and it has pointed out some fossilized mistakes by Chinese learners. Later, based on the errors made by the learners in this study, several teaching suggestions, which can be applied both inside and outside the classroom, were proposed to improve the teaching-learning process.

Full textTo the teacher of all the areas, compromised and responsible for his mediating mission, it corresponds to him to look in the research action, the best ways to know, to understand and to transform his own educational practice and, that though this task is individual the force of the conceptions, the reflection and the efficiency of the research, is in the bosom of an investigators' community joined across networks of written and oral communication. To investigate in Education of the Sciences is a very important challenge for the university teachers worried for achieving a better quality of the educational process and in him, a formed graduated integrally. For these reasons the research on " The education of the concept of chemical equilibrium. Analysis of the difficulties and didactic strategies to overcome them ", realized with students of the second semester of the careers of engineering of the Industrial University of Santander of Colombia, had as intention study, understand and transform the relation of some difficulties into the learning with lacks into the education. For it was proceeded to answer to if do difficulties exist really object of study in the learning process of the concept of chemical equilibrium? In what measure does it affect in the learning of the concept of Chemical equilibrium not bear in mind in the education the results of the didactic research? Is it possible to facilitate the construction of the concept of chemical equilibrium across the learning for the implementation of didactic innovative strategies? To answer to the first question there were selected some particular difficulties of the learning of the concept of chemical equilibrium and there happened that they demonstrate when the learnings are not significant. On having asked the mediating teachers of the courses in which these difficulties were observed it was possible to check that there is a narrow relation among the conceptions of the teachers, the ignorance of the results of the investigation in didactics of the sciences and the mediation that they realize to his students. Finally, on having implemented a guide programm of activities of learning for orientated research it was achieved to improve substantially the learning and consequently a positive transformation was obtained in the educational mediation.

Full textThe aim of the present empiric study is to examine whether 35 second grade children with dyslexia exhibit impairments in phonological abilities such as phonological awareness, working memory and naming speed. Children were tested in several phonological awareness tasks; processing nonsense and familiar words from one to four syllables; and naming pictures and numbers. Results showed that 77% of children presented troubles in the ability of repeating frequent nonsense words and 68, 6% presented troubles in repeating infrequent nonsense words. In contrast, 85,7% of children were slow in naming tasks. These findings suggest that dyslexia children exhibit a deficit in working memory and in naming speed. Regarding phonological awareness, 100% of children demonstrated to have phonological awareness abilities. Theoretical and practical implications are discussed, including the reasons why we consider these children presented an adequate phonological awareness performance even though their reading impariements.

Full textA good reader and writer is one who, at the right time, developed the basic skills or the predictors and facilitators of reading and writing, but when these are not consolidated, they are impacted and we only notice the difficulties as they progress over the years and the demand becomes higher. This is the case of our study, a third-grade girl whose reading is imprecise and slow, she’s got some difficulties in understanding a text and her writing shows troubles in the orthographic lexical processes. The objective of this study is to design an evaluation and intervention plan according to the girl's difficulties, the same that considers working the semantic lexical component of language, the low-level processes of reading and writing in order to improve her written skill. After the intervention, the results show mastery in the grapheme-phoneme conversion mechanism, reading words by the phonological and visual path with better precision and speed. Increase your vocabulary by working with frequent words of thematic content, but still in process the ability to define and name words from the same category. Improvement in precision and speed when reading common and unfamiliar words when working through the visual and phonological route. In writing, she can write words accurately and using the right spelling in a natural and arbitrary way. It is concluded that the intervention plan applied enabled the girl to achieve progress in the low-level processes of reading and writing.

Full textThe adequate acquisition to basic academic skills (reading writing, mathematics) are a deterninig role in the lives of school age children. Since, the child will directly condition their school performance in favorable o limiting form. Actually, many children show alterations to process information efficiently and precisely, it make difficult for learn reading and writing, even if the child present a normal level of intellectual functioning. The goal of the case study is to structure the evaluation and intervention plan according to needs manifested by a child of 10 years of age and 3 months of age, with issues in lexical reading process and spelling process, this evident lack to consolidation and automation would be impacting the high-level process of reading and writing. The study emphasized areas and processes that were found to diminished, in relation to their grade and age, detected in the evaluation. Focusing me on the lexical reading process and lexical spelling process through activities that develop vocabulary and enhance the phonology and visual path, developing on a fluent reading and wrting of words. The results after the study show a positive increase in vocabulary, a higth precisión and speed reading and a improvement in writing, the child was more aware whit the role of phoneme-grapheme. In conclusión, the intervention plan applied allowed on the child to achieve progress in the different areas and processes worked on.

Full textThis work aims to articulate the conceptions about difficulties, obstacles and errors related to the limit. With respect to the epistemological obstacles of the limit, the works of Sierpinska (1985) and Cornu (1981) will be taken as reference. Also, there will be a critical review about the errors and difficulties in the learning of mathematics from the work of Socas (1997) that will be applied to the notion of epistemological obstacle relative to the limit. This study will provide us with a broader view about the origin of the errors in the learning of the limit and the origin of them in order to obtain a tool for analyzing student responses. The tool will be used to analyze other research that focuses on the study of errors and difficulties in learning the limit. It is believed that the proposal will be interesting, both for the teaching and learning of the topic of limits as for teachers and students in mathematical training.

Full textObjectives of the research. The main objective of this research is to estimate the efficacy of Solve it!, a mathematical problem solving training programme based on cognitive and metacognitive strategies in learning disabled students. This general objective is concreted in two more specific contents: 1. To evaluate the efficacy in variables directly related with the intervention: mathematical problem solving.2. To evaluate the efficacy of the intervention in variables not directly related with the intervention: affective-motivational factors, real live problem solving, and knowledge, use and control of cognitive and metacognitive strategies. This second objective was included accord to explore the hypothesis of a transfer effect of learning.Method.All participants completed 3 extensive assessments:Pretest: before the intervention programme; Posttest: immediately after the intervention programme; Follow-up: 2 months after the intervention programme.Assesments were composed by a total of 10 variables:Mathematical problem solving achievement; Mathematical real live problem solving; Mathematics attitudes; Matematics anxiety; Attributional style; Knowledge, use and control of cognitive and metacognitive strategies. Sample description.33 students (aged 10.97; IQ 91.78) divided in 3 groups participed in this study:Experimental group: 11 students diagnosed as mathematical problem solving learning disabled who were trained with the Solve it! Programme.LD control group: 11 students also diagnosed as mathematical problem solving learning disabled who continued the normal class mathematics instruction.Non-disabled control group: 11 students with normal achievement in mathematical problem solving who also continued the normal class mathematics instruction.Results.The efficacy of the programme was tested by a series of repeated measures analysis of variance. Results indicated that the programme produced a significant positive effect in the variable directly manipulated in the intervention: mathematical problem solving achievement. Results also suggested that the programme produced some gains in the knowledge, use and control of mathematical problem solving, although this effect was not statistically significant. Further research should clarify this effect. Finally, results indicated that the programme did not modify variables not directly manipulated in the intervention: mathematics attitudes, mathematics anxiety, attributional style, or real live mathematical problem solving.

Full textNowadays, psychoeducational research has increased its knowledge about learning difficulties, so we are now more equipped with information to understand, to evaluate and to intervene these difficulties in children. I want to show that, in order to better understand how the study of learning difficulties is currently approached, we must take into account that learning difficulties are considered non-permanent and therefore there is the possibility of improvement. The objective of this case study is to design an evaluation plan to diagnose the learning difficulties presented in reading and writing by a 7-year-old 5-month-old; then to propose and implement the intervention plan that will improve the difficulties that the child presents in the predictors and lexical processes of reading and writing. Learning in reading and writing is affected because there is no an adequate development of reading and writing lexical processes (phonological and visual routes); showing a below-expected learning profile for grade and age. The results of the intervention show an improvement in reading and writing processes in relation to the components and capabilities programmed in the reading and writing areas; achievements evident in the correct use of b-d, g-j; by the visual and phonological route. In conclusion, the intervention plan proposed allowed the child to improve in reading and writing.

Full textReading as well as writing are significant tools that allow us to capture and internalize knowledge. The importance of their learning is fundamental, not only to achieve the objectives of the school stage, but also for a good development in adulthood. At present, reading and writing difficulties are one of the causes of academic failure and this is since basic skills and / or predictors are not consolidated during early childhood. This present work has been prepared to show the case study of a 07 year-04-month-old girl with difficulties in written language, designing and applying an intervention program oriented to the work of phonological awareness with analysis and synthesis tasks at the syllabic level and phonemic, to improve learning in the grapheme-phoneme conversion path and vice versa; as well as the lexical processes for both routes with frequent and infrequent words of different lengths to improve reading accuracy and speed; and finally, the work of lexical-orthographic processes of writing by both routes to improve said process. It is concluded that the intervention plan applied allowed the girl to achieve progress in the basic processes of written language.

Full textA child's learning is a developmental process that involves knowledge of the world around them and mastery of intellectual skills and motor skills. In addition, the learning process is gradual and cumulative, going from the simple to the complex, that is, mastery of a knowledge or skill trains the child for the next learning, However, in some children there are alterations that manifest in difficulties of acquiring and using speech, reading, writing, reasoning or mathematical skills , these difficulties affect one or more areas of learning, and therefore constitute a special educational need The objective of this case study is to design an evaluation and intervention plan according to the needs presented by a 9-year-old with reading and writing difficulties, establishing exercises adapted to each of his needs, based on the functional cognitive approach of Cuetos, which involves the recovery of cognitive processes in deficit and the reduction of reading speed to increase his accuracy and fluency established by Ripoll , at the same time working exercises that allow an improvement in natural spelling. The results show an increase in reading accuracy in addition to a decrease in spelling errors in words contained in G and J graphemes. It is concluded that the applied intervention plan allowed the child to show progress in the lexical components of both reading and writing.

Full textAttention Deficit and Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) in one of the clinical disorders most diagnosed in childhood, the same happens to learning difficulties (LD), existing studies in which the association between them is highly described. Literature shows that the association between ADHD and LD ranges between 10 and 92%, depending on different factors like student's age, defining criteria for LD, validity and reliability of tests employed for the assessment of LD, or presence of comorbidity with other childhood disorders. In order to get a better comprehension of the profile seen in children with ADHD+MLD, this study planed the objective to carry out an analysis in which the following aspects were integrated: 1) cognitive processing: inhibitory control, working memory (verbal and visoespatial) and attention; 2) metacognitive beliefs (attitudes, attributions and anxiety towards mathematics); 3) metacognitive strategies implied in solving problems process; and finally 4) performance in applied mathematic tasks. A total of 136 children participated, with a range of age of 6-14 years old, classified in four groups: 47 children in control group, 20 children in group with MLD, 29 children in group with ADHD, and 40 children in group with ADHD+MLD. This complete factorial design tried to study the specific symptoms profile of the group with ADHD+MLD.The analysis done were MANCOVA 2x2 (presence/absence of ADHD vs presence/absence of MLD) on all the variables of interest of each studied area, with age and IQ as covariables. Results showed a double dissociation between ADHD and MLD. Thus, deficit in inhibitory control, resources regulation and attention were specific for those children with ADHD. However, students with MLD were characterised by showing deficit in working memory (both verbal and visoespatial), inadaptative attributional pattern and negative attitude towards mathematics, deficit related to knowledge and control of metacognitive strategies implied in solving problems, and worse performance in applied mathematical tasks. In relation with the main objective of this study, the profile seen in children with ADHD+MLD resulted from the combination of deficits from both disorders separately, with a trend of showing higher severity. These results highlight the importance of studying LD comorbidity in children with ADHD, because cognitive deficit, affective-motivational style and knowledge and control of metacognitive strategies vary significantly depending on the presence of specific LD.

Full textReading and writing are important instruments for acquiring learning, they are present in all aspects of our life and are essential tools to develop increasingly complex processes and levels. These skills are cultural inventions that must be learned explicitly, since they are not inherent to the human being and their learning goes beyond the compression of symbols and combinations, therefore, adequate knowledge of their use is essential. Nowadays, in schools we find students who have difficulties in reading and writing, for which it is essential from an early age to promote the learning of reading and writing, as well as the liking and habit for it; not having to be the same in all cases. The objective of this case study is to design a systematic and structured evaluation and intervention plan; that is outlined according to the needs of a 10-year-old child with specific learning difficulties in reading at the level of word recognition, as well as in writing at the level of spelling correction. When observing difficulties in the low-level processes, they affect reading and writing, placing them below those expected at the chronological age and grade, since they should already have them consolidated. As it is a focused intervention, favorable results are seen in the reading of words by both routes (visual and phonological); as well as in the automation of the grapheme-phoneme conversion mechanism, and a better command of the correct spelling of words with their visual orthographic representation. We conclude that the intervention process based on scientific evidence, with an organized and methodical work on the learning profile, allowed us to observe significant advances in the child in relation to the difficulties manifested in reading and writing.

Full textThe present research entitled "Achievements and difficulties in learning to write in students who finish primary education in a public educational institution in San Miguel", aims to analyze the achievements and difficulties experienced in learning to write by a group of sixth grade students, upon completing their primary education studies, at the aforementioned institution. public education of San Miguel. On this occasion, the research is qualitative of an empirical nature, it is developed from data at a descriptive level, speed in a case study. The information obtained from tests is from rubrics and the data collected from all rubrics is organized in an information systematization matrix, which is organized by categorizing the level achieved by the students with respect to each ability. In this sense, the results provide percentages, according to the achievements and difficulties that students present around writing, through their tests. A greater coincidence of achievements has been found in the first two capacities linked to the adaptation of the text to the situation and the organization of ideas, occupying the satisfactory level, the opposite of the following two capacities related to the conventions of written language and reflection, reflects that there are more difficulties in these. Indeed, the weakest weakness corresponds to the use of language conventions, punctuation marks, accents and the use of connectors.

Full textLearning Difficulty is a general term that refers to a heterogeneous group of disorders that are manifested by significant difficulty in the acquisition and use of listening, speaking, reading, writing, reasoning, or math skills. These disorders are intrinsic to the individual, they can coexist with problems in self-regulation behaviors, social perception and social interaction, but these do not constitute learning disorders by themselves. Learning difficulties in both reading and writing occur at school environment, interfering with children's learning and tasks of daily life, creating a significant gap between their true potential and their academic performance. The objective of this case study is to design an evaluation and intervention plan according to the needs presented by the 10-year-old, 6-month-old girl with specific reading and writing difficulties. In this sense, the results show progress in the lexical process both in the visual and phonological route, also in the syntactic process regarding punctuation marks, where reading fluency improves with an adequate intonation. In the Writing area, in the orthographic lexical process, she writes words to the dictation of frequent and infrequent use with the letters b/v, g/j, y/ll, with greater accuracy. As for the auditory sequential memory, through tasks of listening and evoking sequence of words, remembering and executing oral instructions, remembering 4 to 5 direct and inverse digits, as well as reading short narratives, she manages to carry out almost entirely the different tasks worked. In conclusion, we can affirm that in all the areas worked it is located at the level of achievement, however, in the complementary factor at the level of auditory sequential memory it is in process.

Full textReading and writing are highly complex intellectual processes that involve various cognitive functions, for this reason it is vitally important that basic skills or predictors and facilitators of reading and writing are consolidated in the early school stage, in such a way that both reading and writing can be optimally and satisfactorily put into practice. The case in question is in the third grade of primary school and presents imprecise reading and writing skills. Therefore, the objective of this case study is to design an evaluation and intervention plan according to the needs of an 8-year-old girl with difficulties in the lexical process of reading and writing. Said intervention plan is carried out taking into account the results obtained in the evaluation, thus it was oriented to prioritize the work of phonological skills and the lexical processes of reading and writing, since these will allow her to acquire reading and writing adequate. The results reveal an increase in reading and writing, when working on the phonological and visual route. It is concluded that the intervention plan applied allowed the girl to show progress in the areas studied.

Full textThe research presented in this dissertation consists in the identification of alterations in functional connectivity in two of the learning disorders with greater prevalence in our society, namely reading learning disorder and the disorder of mathematics learning, during the critical stage of acquiring these skills. These abilities are essential for adequate cognitive and social development in children. The research has been carried out in 4 studies, in which a group of children aged 6-7 years old with reading difficulties (n=30), a group of children aged 7-8 years old with mathematical difficulties have been recruited (n=15), and their respective control groups. The analysis of the fMRI data at rest has been carried out using 2 non- aprioristic methodologies. First one is the Multivariate pattern analysis (MVPA), whereby areas that have an altered pattern of connectivity in both disorders have been observed. The results have shown an altered connectivity between several neural networks in both groups of patients. The reading difficulties group has shown anomalous increased connectivity between the frontal areas and the default neural network (DMN), and reduced connectivity with areas pertaining to the salience network, as well as a slight reduced connectivity in the internal communication of the DMN. On the other hand, the group with difficulties in mathematics learning has shown an altered communication between the areas that make up the DMN and the sensorimotor network, precuneus and right intraparietal sulcus. Moreover, it has been showed a decreased DMN internal connectivity. The second methodology used in the research is the Independent component analysis (ICA), which makes it possible to isolate a set of neural networks as independent components from each other and analyze their internal functional connectivity. The set of analyses performed have focused on the identification of alterations in the internal connectivity of the DMN. They have yielded very similar results in both groups. They show a characteristically lower internal connectivity of this network, mainly in the precuneus area, when compared to the control group. The data resulting from the research suggests that both disorders are related to altered communication patterns between different neural networks, especially the DMN and the sensorimotor network. The DMN is a core neural information processing actor and plays a key role in the modulation of attention between internal and external stimuli. The role of this network in both reading and mathematics learning disorders hadn't been previously described in such a robust manner and clear pattern. Together, the results found show that in both disorders there is an alteration of the neural network intrinsic to the reading processes, and to the numerical processing and calculation respectively, in addition to a global alteration of neural networks involved in other cognitive processes, among which highlights the alteration of the DMN. The research opens new paths of knowledge for the understanding of these neurodevelopmental disorders, regarding its early detection and and its reeducation.

Full textAt the elementary level children develop basic skills for reading, writing and mathematics; However, during the first grades of schooling, some children have difficulties in these areas as they progress through their school years. In many cases the cause is the lack of consolidation of these predictors and facilitators of writing, reading and mathematics. The case presented is in the fourth grade of primary school, presents slow and imprecise reading and writing and difficulty in understanding written texts. The objective of this work is to design an evaluation and intervention plan according to the difficulties of the case. After the intervention process in reading, the evidence shows that working on the lexical process through the visual and phonological routes with analysis and synthesis tasks improves the precision and fluency of the reading of words, this being very important because in this way the child can access the meaning of the word when reading. In the same way, the intervention in the syntactic process, in the component of punctuation marks, allows a better performance in the precision of intonation when reading and better understanding the text that you read. As for writing, by developing the phonetic spelling of the orthographic lexical process, with the same vocabulary of reading, she manages to develop a more precise writing by having mastery in phoneme-grapheme conversion and writing by the visual route will help her to recover and. correctly spell frequent words with arbitrary spellings. It is concluded that the intervention plan shows that the development of the lexical processes of reading and writing together with the syntactic processes, impacts on the performance of reading comprehension.

Full textThe main objective of this doctoral thesis was to deepen in the relation between early cognitive and motivational factors and later mathematical performance and its difficulties. The final sample consisted in 180 students, their teachers and parents. In Kindergarten (5-6 years), different tests were applied to assess certain early numeracy skills, executive functions, motivational variables and initial mathematical performance. Two years later (2nd year of Primary School, 7-8 years), students' mathematical performance was assessed. The results showed that mathematical performance and its difficulties are produced by multiple factors. Their contribution is not only independently, but also through the interrelations between them. Of the set of factors included, a slightly higher weight of executive functions is highlighted, for their contribution to both mathematical performance and its difficulties in different initial educational stages. Early numeracy skills and motivational factors also contribute to mathematical performance and the identification of potential difficulties.

There are lots of different elements that take part in the teaching/learning process in a foreign language. In this thesis the effect that the language previously learned by the pupil has in the mentioned process and the beliefs that are embraced about the linguistic are analyzed. The lack of world recognition of the African languages has taken us to the approach of how it would be the teaching-learning process of the Spanish for African native students in general, and Cameroon natives, (specially, the medùmba speakers), proper of a territory in which an European language (the French language) was implemented by a settling process. In order to do that, the phonetic - phonological and grammatical systems of the medùmba, the French and the Spanish are contrasted in the search of the potential obstacles, faced by the French-speaking student of medùmba mother language who is learning ELE. Additionally, the imaginary social is identified about the autochthonous and foreign languages statute among the teaching and students body in the Cameroon’s secondary centers, as well as the beliefs of the same groups, concerning ELE’s teaching - learning. Finally, on the one hand, the degree of proximity is verified among the social, linguistic and educational reality, and, on the other one, the beliefs on the languages and on the teaching / learning of Spanish.

Full textLearning difficulties are a constant concern in the education sector and in the family environment, since it does not allow the immediate incorporation of new learning, especially in reading, writing and mathematics. It is then the school stage in which these difficulties can be noticed on time to formulate a pertinent and timely intervention to allow students with these difficulties to achieve an adequate adaptation to the school system and their immediate surroundings. The purpose of this work is to design and implement an intervention program for a 7-year-old, sixmonth-old girl; where low-level reading processes, perceptual processes, frequent and infrequent words reading, pseudowords, stimulation of correct writing and sequential auditory sequential memory will be worked on; in order to improve reading ability in accuracy and speed, as well as the correct writing of words. The results show that the girl expanded her visual repertoire for instant word recognition, recognition and automation of pseudowords, she manages to apply grapheme phoneme conversion rules in a systematic way with the different syllabic structures, remembers and evokes different elements with a specific order. It is concluded that the intervention plan improved accuracy and reading speed in the girl.
