Cyathocotyle bushiensis and Sphaeridiotrema globulus were previously implicated in the annual mortality of wild ducks in southern Quebec. Of 21 snail species collected from nine aquatic communities in southern Quebec and southeastern Ontario, May to October 1989 and 1990, only Bithynia tentaculata was heavily and consistently infected with C. bushiensis metacercariae. Six species of haplosplanchnids are reported in this study. Haplosplanchnus caudatus (Srivastava, 1939) Skrjabin and Guschanskaja, 1955 was found in large numbers in 8 of 9 Mugil cephalus. H. purii Srivastava, 1939 was found in small numbers in 2 of 9 Liza vaigiensis and 1 of 9 Mugil cephalus. Both of these findings represent a new locality record. Schikhobalotrema southi n. sp. is described from a single specimen from Scarus rivulatus. S. scari n. sp. from the same host is also described from a single specimen. The life-cycle of Rhipidocotyle campanula (Dujardin, 1845) has been experimentally demonstrated and the species identity confirmed. Sporocysts were recovered from digestive glands of the freshwater-mussel Anodonta anatina, and in heavily infected 'hosts from the reproductive, system. Both cercariae and glochidia are released simultaneously in mussels where the reproductive system is partly invaded by sporocyst tubules.
