<p>A high performance sound card is designed and implemented using a USB enabled microcontroller and an external dataconverter. Data is retrieved either via USB or S/PDIF. The sampling clock is generated by a precision clock synthesizer. This is programmable and can be adapted to different sampling rates of USB data. The system supports 24 bit, 192 kHz audio. Signal attenuation is performed through a relay based stepped voltage divider with constant output impedance. 64 dB attenuation in steps of 1 dB is available. The aim of this thesis is to design a system for automated accident detection in intersections. The input to the system is a three-second audio signal. The system can be operated in two modes: two-class and multi-class. The output of the two-class system is a label of ?crash? or ?non-crash?. In the multi-class system, the output is the label of ?crash? or various non-crash incidents including ?pile drive?, ?brake?, and ?normal-traffic? sounds. Streamlined is a musical composition for chamber orchestra. The entire piece was created from four basic musical fragments. These fragments are used melodically and as "roots" for chord progressions, eventually rendering melody and harmonic progression as one entity. These chord progressions move slowly from one chord to the other, through several intermediate chord progressions, metamorphosing into each other through carefully calculated and executed transformative processes.
