Abstract:

Abstract:
During the early 1980s the Warlpiri at Yuendemu, a remote Aboriginal community in Central Australia, began their own experiments in local television and radio production. This was prior to the launch of the AUSSAT satellite in 1985 which brought broadcast television and radio to remote Australia for the first time. There was concern amongst remote Aboriginal communities, as well as policy makers, that the imposition of mass media without consultation could result in permanent damage to Aboriginal culture and language. As a result, a policy review 'Out of the Silent Land' was published in 1985

The social and environmental impacts of consumer electronics and information communications technologies (CE/ICTs) reflect dynamics of a globalized and interdependent world. During the early 21st century the global consumption of CE/ICTs expanded greatly while the infrastructure behind CE/ICTs, especially the extraction and disassembly phases, became more integrated. This dissertation examines how messages about the social and environmental impacts of CE/ICTs changed during this period and explores the discursive power of actors involved in environmental justice campaigns surrounding the dispo

Food is today one of the big criminals in greenhouse gas emissions and to be able to reach the climate goals we need to cut down on food with high carbon footprints. The focus of this study is on how direct information with the help of ICT could be used to increase people's knowledge about carbon footprints of food and their motivation to choose food with low carbon footprints. For this study a digital shopping list was developed in the form of a web application adapted for mobile devices that presented carbon footprints of different food. The objective of this research is to present a low power modem technology for a high speed millimeter wave wireless system. The first part of the research focuses on a robust ASIC design methodology. There are several aspects of the ASIC flow that require special attention such as logical synthesis, timing driven physical placement, Clock Tree Synthesis, Static Timing Analysis, estimation and reduction of power consumption and LVS and DRC closure. The latter part is dedicated to high speed baseband circuits such as Coherent and Non coherent demodulator which are critical components of a mu

With a growing number of connected devices and an increased market penetration for wireless and cellular technologies, it has become more and more important to understand how new technologies can be leveraged in existing markets to further understand their overall impact on society as a whole. This master thesis aims to investigate potential business opportunities for a new communications technology within an existing market. This new technology, known as LTE-Broadcast, is an evolution of cellular 4G technologies, which allows content to be broadcasted throughout a cellular network. The thesis
