This paper is a literature review exploring previous research on digital learning at school and the competence required both of teachers and pupils. Furthermore, it aims to point out advantages and disadvantages of digital tools in teaching at school by focusing on foreign language teaching. Previous studies indicate that using digital tools in school help to individualize teaching in order to consider the pupils’ individual needs in learning. Recent studies document as well that the teachers’ well-conceived teaching designs are important for target-aimed learning success. According to referre

Digital technology is to be found in many places today, especially in school. The purpose of this study was to examine the use of digital tools in the teaching of mathematics by lower secondary teachers. The method of the study was a qualitative method in which eight teachers from tree different schools were interviewed. The material collected from the interviews was analyzed on the basis of a content analysis, where the results were divided into two main categories and then into subcategories. Abstract:
This explorative qualitative case study aims at finding out about the impact of pictures as an aesthetical tool in English language teaching, through an experiment in the English classroom. Aesthetical tools are here defined as tools through which one can reach a stronger experience and improve learning. The independent variable in the experiment was a picture assignment and the dependent variable was a Chinese high school class and their teacher in English. After having done the experiment, the research questions were answered through a student questionnaire and an interview with the teacher.

The possible benefits of digital games for English language learning and teaching have received increasing attention in recent years as more research shows that digital games can affect students’ learning and motivation within formal education. A great deal of the integration of digital games in school contexts depends on the attitude of teachers and students. The aim of this study is to investigate upper-secondary teachers’ and students’ attitudes toward digital games in the English language classroom in a Swedish context.

There is much research evidence that in Japan, teaching pronunciation has been and still is marginalized in teaching English as an International Language (EIL). If pronunciation was taught at all in the past, it was restricted to minimal pair exercises and drilling of certain problematic sounds (Smith, 2005), which certainly did not improve significantly the communication ability of speakers. The need for global communication prompted changes in teaching English in Japan including the introduction of a learner-centred approach that involves authentic tasks and communicative opportunities to de

If so, what is the nature of that training?Does the faculty within a program perceive that training to be effective? Is thattraining perceived to be effective by graduate students? How do individual programs shape their graduate technology training to reflectand manifest specific programmatic agendas and

However, while most language instructors agree that language and culture should be connected, many fail to teach culture explicitly because they are so focused on the language components of their courses. Of those who do teach culture explicitly, many either teach only about the cultural products and not the perspectives, or they teach the culture

This study examines what motivates language teachers in primary school to use ICT and what attitudes they have towards ICT. Six teachers working in four different Swedish primary schools between the first and third grade were interviewed. The teachers actively used some kind of ICT resource during their English lessons. The study showed that external factors such as requirements from the school and local school authorities motivate teachers to work more actively with ICT. These external motivators can influence the teacher’s perception and use of ICT in both positive and negative ways. When it
