Full textIn this Bachelor Thesis, we have explored whether theater as a medium for experiences could be translated into a digital game medium. Since 'experience' as a concept is very large, we have chosen to focus mainly on the feeling of exclusivity in live performances, and used a number of methods to explore this, including the design perspective ‘simulation’ with which we intended to simulate the agency the actor has in every performance. We have documented the design process, from idea generation and concept planning to our work process, as well as the product of our research. Finally, we have critically examined the result of this, and have therefore been able to determine that our question does not have a concrete answer but rather is an ongoing process in which more nuances of 'experience' would need to be explored to create a clearer picture of what an experience actually is.

Full textBackground: Digital healthcare consultations is something used more and more, especially during COVID-19 but also in accordance with various goals for digitization. Video consultations has proven to work well as an alternative to regular visits and telephone calls, but there is no clear view on how physiotherapists experience digital meetings. Objective: To investigate physiotherapists' experiences of digital care meetings compared to traditional physiotherapist visits in primary care. Method: The study has a qualitative design. Data was collected through 5 semi-structured interviews with physiotherapists and analyzed using qualitative content analysis. Result: The analysis of the interviews resulted in 6 categories and 15 subcategories. The categories were; Digital meetings can make it easier for the patient and the physiotherapist, The physiotherapists' work is developed and adapted during the pandemic, Challenging to get good digital meetings, Opportunities with digital meetings, Limitations with digital meetings and Potential for improvement. Conclusion: Digital care meetings in physiotherapy could be an alternative when patients want it and for visits including conversation, observation, advice, training and follow-up, and where there is no need for a more thorough manual examination. Digital meetings can make it easier for both the patient and the physiotherapist, but further development of technology and accessibility is needed to improve the work with the patient.

Full textBackground: Meetings between patient and nurse are built up by the communication between them, the context of the care environment and a mutual understanding of the context in which they meet. Security, respect and participation are important to establishing a care relationship. The digital information and communication opportunities increase accessibility and enable dialogue without a physical meeting. As a result, several meetings between patients and nurses will take place outside the traditional environment for a care meeting. This poses challenges based on both the security aspect and the relationship-creating dimension in a care meeting. Aim: The aim was to elucidate patients' and nurses' experiences of care meetings in a digital context. Method: The method was a literature review based on eight qualitative articles. The articles were retrieved from the CINAHL Complete and PubMed databases and analyzed and thematized. Results: The results have been analyzed from both perspective and type of digital context and summarized in five identified themes: Security, Integrity, Participation, Roles and Relationship. Discussion: The discussion was rooted in Katie Eriksson's charitable care theory. The patient's positive experiences of the meeting environment were discussed in relation to the shortcomings the nurse experienced. The digital forms of meeting have the potential to contribute to positive experiences of accessibility, security and participation for patients. The results were also discussed based on the possibility of having a holistic and person-centered approach in the digital forms of meeting.

Full textThe purpose of this study is to investigate what challenges and opportunities retailers in the fashion industry in Sweden experience with purchasing via digital meetings and its impact on the purchasing decision. The study also intends to investigate how the relationship between supplier and retailer affects the purchasing decision when purchasing via digital meetings. The theoretical basis of this study is van Weele's (2014) model of the purchasing process and Dwyer, Shurr and Oh's (1987) model of buyer-seller relationships. A qualitative study has been carried out where data has been collected through semi-structured interviews with 10 retailers in the fashion industry. The data has then been analyzed with a thematic analysis. The results show that purchases via digital meetings have caused greater uncertainty among retailers in the purchasing decision. The biggest challenge when purchasing via digital meetings is to mitigate uncertainty. There are opportunities for retailers to streamline their operations in terms of time and cost with the help of purchasing via digital meetings. The relationship between supplier and retailer has a significant role in purchasing via digital meetings, where trust between the parties can alleviate uncertainty.

Full textThe staff is one of the organizations main resources and staff training is an important aspect of maintaining competitiveness and competence. With the digitalisation of the workplace, digital staff training attracts organizations with promises of lower costs and easier access. The purpose of this qualitative study is to take part of the employees perspective and thoughts on staff training, both traditional and digital, as well as possible differences that exists. With Bandura’s social learning theory as theory and narrative analysis as methods the employees are given the chance to express their own experiences in their own words and give voice for what they perceive as important. The study finds that digital staff training seems to come with higher demands on both educators and subject choices, as employees participation via computers makes it faster and easier for them to find themselves distracted by other things. The social meetings in person associated with traditional staff training cannot be compensated by web cameras. The conclusions drawn in this study are that digital staff training overall does not seem as appreciated as the traditional alternative, but this does not necessarily mean digital means are inherently worse, but rather that the format of the staff training as designed by educators may be lacking.

Full textThe digital society is evolving fast and the demand on digitalization has been affected by the Covid-19 pandemic. A vulnerable group in this context is seniors whom been affected by digital divide. With age, people become more and more socially isolated and there is a need for increased social participation. Society contributes with good digital conditions, but not everyone knows how to handle digital solutions for various reasons. The aim of the study was therefore to investigate seniors' experiences of arranged digital meetings and their potential to promote social participation. The method for the study was a qualitative content analysis of four semi-structured interviews and a focus group interview after a digital intervention (11 e-fika). The study was conducted with four women aged 70–87 years living in a medium-sized municipality. The intervention was also a pilot project in collaboration with a municipality. The results showed that digital meetings such as 11 e-fika can promote social participation, but the seniors experienced insecurity and need for support during use. The seniors stated that they prefer physical meetings, but that digital is a good complement that facilitates meetings without a physical presence. The individual's attitude to use also has an impact. The conclusion was that digital meetings can be beneficial for social participation, but the need for support when using digital tools is clear. Therefore, further research in the field is required.

Full textEducation and teaching have evolved, and todays teaching environment utilises many different tools and methods. A digital learning platform, such as Canvas, is one of those tools. KTH:s instance of Canvas is administrated by E-learning management object (The Department of Learning in Engineering Sciences, u.å.). The aim of this study was to investigate how students at KTH, who use Canvas, perceive the digital learning environment, especially Canvas. The focus question used for the study is: How do students experience Canvas' functionality in conjunction with their studies? Tools for conveying knowledge have moved from existing only in the physical world to having partially moved into the digital world. This provides several new opportunities for communication and adaptation. The use of computers in everyday life and studies has accelerated recently. The computer has become an obvious tool for communication within the world. Student life is not limited to the physical environment; it has expanded to the digital one. The start for one of the first digital platforms for learning at KTH was born in the mid-90s in one of KTH:s own courses and later to become Bilda /PING PONG. Canvas is an LMS (Learning Management System) which can be used to support students in their studies, and includes functions such as quizzes, grade follow-up, discussion forums and more. The transition to Canvas began with a pilot test in the autumn of 2016 (Stenberg,2017). The United Nations Sustainable Development Goals is something that Sweden has signed, which in turn affects KTH as a Swedish state university. The fourth goal is that which is primarily aimed at schools, universities and colleges: Ensure an inclusive and equal education of good quality and promote lifelong learning for all (Agenda 2030, u.å.,s. 12). The goals go hand in hand with KTH:s values (KTH, u.å.) and KTH:s policy for sustainable development (Policy för hållbarutveckling för KTH, u.å.). This thesis is a small step on the path towards fulfilling those goals. In order to survey how students perceive their digital learning environment, with regard to functions and navigation, a sequential exploratory approach with mixed methods was used. This study contains a pre-study with semi-structured interviews and a quantitative survey. The pre-study consisted of four interviews and a thematic analysis of the transcription of the interviews. Even if the selection is made for convenience (Denscombe, 2019), the group from which the interviewed students were selected from had all branches at all KTH:s campuses represented. Therefore, the group could be considered representative. This meant that the pre-study could not be seen as universal but gave an indication of the direction for the survey. The majority of the survey's statements was created by the themes that emerged in the analysis of the pre-study interviews. Thematic analysis has been used on both the content of the transcript of the interviews and for the free text answers in the survey. To get a quick overview, an indicative colouring of the results was created. The source data was deidentified at the time of transcription and the questions for the survey were carefully selected so that "the principleof data minimisation" (GDPR, 2016/ 679 reason 156) was adhered to. The pre-study identified two strong themes: "read and manage files" and "Usage", each with three sub-themes. These formed the basis for the statements in the survey. The survey had 614 answers, accounting for 4.5 percent of the 13,514 full-time students in 2019 (KTH Årsredovisning 2019.pdf, u.å., s. 4). The response rate slowed down towards the end of the response time, which shows a saturation of students' willingness to respond. In summary, the majority responded with Canvas being a positive experience and that it helped them in their studies. In general, there were challenges in communication both in messaging and forumfunction. The survey results indicate that the students were quitepositive about the platform and thought the platform had potential, unlike the informants in the pre-study who were more critical and frustrated with the system. By extending the physical classroom with online resources, the student can continuously develop, as the tutoring is not confined to the teaching hours. The forum and direct messages can be an opportunity for students to break the isolation of studying on their own and to receive support from both teachers and other students. Through assignments and quizzes, the student can practice and gain reinforcement in the acquisition of knowledge. Digital platforms may increase accessibility, regardless of whether the student needs speech synthesis, or studies better at different times of the day. The areas with challenges are the discussion forum, ease and efficiency of retrieving documents and files, and Canvas messaging functions. In addition, the survey showed that some students only used Canvas for the mandatory steps. Nevertheless, the students answered with a positive tone in most of the survey.

Full textThere are many reasons for why people choose to volunteer and carry out non-profit work for an association: socialization, gaining experience and a feeling of being needed and being appreciated for the work they do. Due to the challenges that arose during the Covid-19pandemic, strict restrictions were implemented, meaning that companies and organizations had to adapt and therefore cancel most of their events. The only events that were allowed to take place were elite sports events with strict rules and they had to follow the authorities guidelines of the pandemic. These guidelines encouraged people to not attend physical meetings, which meant that all preparations with the volunteers had to be carried out digitally. This problem was considered interesting and therefore this phenomenon was chosen to be studied more in detail. The purpose of this study was to examine, from the perspective of digital communication, how event organizations experienced social interaction through digital channels. A qualitative interview method has been conducted for this study. Five different specialists who were in charge of the digital communication to their volunteers have been interviewed as well as other material that the study has gained access to from each respondent. During the interviews the respondents explained how they worked with different digital tools in order to reach out and communicate with their volunteers digitally. In addition, we have studied how the event organizations have experienced the social interaction through digital channels and the overall experience of these different channels. The results of this study show that there are both advantages and disadvantages when preparing volunteers digitally for a physical event. Event organizations believe that the digital aspect is something that can not replace the physical meetings for volunteers and organizations. However, digital meetings can instead be seen as a complement to the physical meetings in the future. The following essay is written in Swedish.

Full textThe National Agency for Education aims to strengthen students' digital competence in the school system to promote student's development of knowledge and believes that more research is needed to see how students can meet a high level of digital competence. For digital tool's ability to support students' learning, these tools need to be evaluated from a student perspective, especially for students with dyslexia who have a great need for digital tools to achieve the knowledge requirements. When a student is diagnosed with dyslexia, digital tools are used in the teaching to alleviate the student's difficulties nevertheless there is little research that shows how students experience digital tools in their education and whether the digital tools support students in their learning. The purpose of the study omitted to find out how digital tools can promote learning for students with dyslexia from a student perspective. Through a qualitative research methodand interviews with six dyslexic students from high school and high school, the study has examined students' experiences of digital tools in a school environment. The results from the study showed that most students experienced several benefits of digital tools. A spelling program helped students feel fluent in their writing because of the easiness of correct grammatical errors and spelling errors. Students could keep up with the school better by using the computer as a tool for taking notes. Reading comprehension and vocabulary were improved by listening to books with digital tools. Motivation increased when students felt that they were developing in their learning. However, some students also experienced challenges with digital tools that could hamper their learning. Students perceived red underscores that indicated misspellings in a spelling program as disruptive and negative. Students perceived speech syntheses with computerized voices as hard to understand. Other challenges highlighted by the students were technical problems and lack of digital competence in teachers. A teacher's competence to adopt digital support to students' different needs was considered a key reason for the student's learning.

Full textAbstract This thesis is a qualitative case study that aims to increase the knowledge about students’ perceptions of participation when using digital educational tools. The methods used in this case study are image analysis and group interviews. The participants in this study came from a school in the north of Sweden. There where 18 students from grade 4 and 3 of their teachers participating. Aim: The overarching aim of the study was to increase knowledge about students’ perception of participation when using digital educational tools. The perception of participation was evaluated from three angles: How do the students perceive that the digital educational material affects their participation? How are the students describing the use of digital educational tools in school? How are the teachers describing the use of digital educational tools in school? Method: The methods used in this study where: Student´s images and group interviews. There were also additional conversations with the students in conjunction of the creation of the images and texts. Group interviews were conducted at two points in time with the teachers, one before the analysis of the student´s pictures and one after. Image analysis by using participation model was done on the students own images and texts. Results: In the images the students expressed that it was fun and easier to write on the computer. Many of the students also described that is was easier with digital educational tools as they only need to bring one thing (the computer). The challenges they described where when the Wi-Fi connection was not working and some of them mentioned that it was hard to navigate the digital tool in the beginning, but that it was easier after a while. The teachers confirm that the navigation was challenging when the tools was first initiated, especially as multiple new elements were introduced at the same time. However, the teachers were unsure if that was due to the digital educational tools or due to that it was a new way of working. The majority of the students expressed that it is more fun to work with digital educational tools and computers, compared to regular books. The teacher described the digital educational tools as joyful learning and that it is engaging for those students that normally find the school challenging. Most of the students also expressed a satisfaction and joy when describing their use of digital educational tools. The teacher described that a major benefit of using digital tools, is the quick feedback with statistics of performed learning exercises that the tools provide to both the student and the teacher. The students reported that they got a sense of autonomy when they can have an impact and themselves decide what they write on the computer. That gives them the opportunity to participate and be able to affect their own learning situation. From a teacher’s point of view, the digital tools stimulate the participation, where the students’ different degree of difficulty on their tasks are not reviled to their classmates. Conclusion: It was a good choice of method to perform the image analysis because even though the students only created the images at one point in time, the information that the images provided was comprehensive. However, the verbal conversions that was performed in conjunction with the creation of the images were challenging, as it was hard to formulate the questions so that the students fully could describe their perception of participation in their image. This should be considered as the weakness of this method. During the verbal conversations in conjunction with the creation of the images, the students described their experiences of participation. The group interviews with the teachers that followed, confirmed the students’ descriptions. The results from this qualitative case study may be challenging to transfer and standardise for other student groups as the social situations and learning environments could be different. The results of the study could be useful moving forward as it may be indicative for future educational developments regarding participation, digitalisation and digital educational material. The big difference in the funding for the digital implementation between schools and municipalities is one of the obstacles to ensure equality and the ability to reach the goals that the government have set out for digital strategy in schools. In the end, it is the teachers’ ways of working and their use of the digital educational material that is going to enable an accessible learning environment where the students are included and participating, not the educational tool itself.

Full textThe digitization in school has led to an increase in 1: 1 investment, also known as the introduction of one computer per pupil. This is to enhance students' digital competence, but also often with the hope of increased motivation for schoolwork. In the study, 17 students in grades 4–6 were interviewed. The purpose has been to investigate how the students feel that the use of the computer during lessons in mathematics affects their motivation, as well as what factors the students highlight as the pros and cons of using the computer. These factors have then been analysed against motivation theory to see how different types of motivation can affect learning. The result shows that the use of the computer during lessons in mathematics can contribute both to the students' extrinsic and intrinsic motivation, but that motivation for the computer should be separated from the motivation for the mathematical content. The result also shows a lack in teacher support, and that the computer is often included in a way that does not promote the students' intrinsic motivation and learning in mathematics.

Full textAt the beginning of 2020, the world became aware of the covid-19 virus that caused a pandemic. People and companies have had to adapt as a result of the current situation in order to reduce the spread of the virus, which has forced employees to work remotely. Previous research has shown that there are challenges in working with agile methods remotely where teams or parts of teams work distributed. However, these researches largely concern agile software development projects in which IT companies operate globally. This study has examined how the work is conducted remotely where all team members work distributed as a result of other reasons than the global software development. The purpose of this study has been to investigate how employees who are part of teams experience the work with agile development projects that are conducted remotely as a result of the current pandemic. Therefore, the following two research questions have been formulated as “In what ways do employees who are part of teams feel that the interaction with colleagues works during the current pandemic?” and “How do employees feel that remote work functions when they work distributed as a result of covid-19?”. To investigate this, eight semi-structured interviews were conducted with software developers working with Scrum within a medium-sized IT company located in western Sweden. The majority of the respondents have been part of the same team for several years and therefore have a good relationship with their colleagues. The results showed that the work with agile development projects conducted remotely as a result of the pandemic has functioned well. The respondents have not experienced any difficulties intransferring Scrum in regards to distance work, which could depend on the fact that they have worked within the same team for a long period of time. In order to be able to perform the job, both interaction and communication are required, something that the respondents experienceas working well even remotely. However, informal communication has not been able to be fully replaced by digital tools, something that previous research highlights as a limitation when teams work distributed.
