Abstract:
Purpose A growing need for financing in small and medium enterprises (SMEs) has become a significant obstacle to the development of firms. To remove this barrier, the purpose of this paper is to examine how supply chain finance (SCF) assists the firms to improve their performance by utilizing the resource-based view (RBV). Furthermore, the present study also pursues to test the effect of trade digitization as a moderating variable in the relationship between SC finance and the firm performance. Design/methodology/approach Using data from the textile sector, the authors run confirmatory factor analysis in AMOS 24 and hierarchical linear regression model in SPSS 23 to measure the proposed model and hypotheses, respectively. Findings The study suggests that SCF significantly improves the SMEs performance. Moreover, trade digitization strengthens the relationship between SCF and SMEs performance. Thus, the current study significantly describes the firm RBV through SCF and trade digitization to predict the SMEs performance. Practical implications SMEs entrepreneurs or executives can optimize the working capital through SCF and enhance the visibility of transactions through digitization for improving SMEs performance. Moreover, SCF protects the SMEs due to its nature of risk mitigation strategy. Originality/value This study covered the unexplored gap in the previous literature of supply chain management by establishing the relationship between SCF and the firm performance empirically while identifying the role of trade digitization as moderating variable in the context of textile SMEs by employing RBV theory.

Abstract:
The Covid-19 pandemic has brought significant changes to the global economy, particularly in terms of digitization. This study aims to examine the role of digitization in helping small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) survive during the pandemic in Nepal and assess its sustainability for the future. The sample for this study consists of 52 SMEs from various industries such as clothing, food, and retail businesses. A quantitative research approach is employed to analyze the data. The findings of this study indicate that there was little to no change in the adoption of digitalization among SMEs before and after the crisis. This suggests that the level of digitization in SMEs remains relatively unchanged in the post-Covid-19 period. However, in terms of sustainability, the study reveals that SMEs need to undergo digital transformation to ensure their long-term viability. This finding aligns with previous research that emphasizes the importance of digital technologies for SMEs in emerging markets.
The literature review supports the notion that social media advertising can increase brand loyalty and provide opportunities for direct interaction with potential customers. Additionally, studies have shown that social media influencers have a positive impact on the buying decision process of customers. Furthermore, research has demonstrated that social media marketing influences consumer decision-making processes.
It underscores the potential benefits of digitization in terms of survival and sustainability. The findings suggest that SMEs should prioritize digitalization efforts to adapt to the changing business landscape and enhance their competitiveness.
In conclusion, this study emphasizes the importance of digitization for SMEs in Nepal, particularly in the context of the Covid-19 pandemic. The findings indicate the need for SMEs to embrace digital transformation to ensure their long-term viability.

Abstract:
In the year 2021, small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) constituted 99.81% of the total number of enterprises in Bulgaria. The number of individuals employed by SMEs accounted for 74.2% of the entire workforce. These enterprises contributed 66.5% of the overall economy’s added value, and this share has consistently been on the rise. Their development significantly influences the employment rate, overall economic growth, and the prosperity of our nation. Technological advancements and recent crises in recent years have spurred accelerated digitization across all spheres of public life, including business sector. It is increasingly penetrating SMEs in Bulgaria, albeit with a certain lag compared to the EU. There is no doubt that the digitization of SMEs serves as a crucial mechanism for achieving competitiveness and economic success, not only for the enterprises themselves, but also for our country as a whole. Given this context, the objective of this publication is to briefly present the summarized results of an analysis of the level of digitization of SMEs in Bulgaria and the examination of the key factors hindering its further development, serving as barriers to its progress. These findings can be valuable for guiding the efforts of managers and government entities in fostering the advancement of digitization in SMEs.

The internet era's evolution now compels all aspects of life to converge. Literacy, for example, has always been tightly linked to literature. The use of libraries as a storefront for literacy resources is also a cause of concern. As a result, digitization of cooperatives has become a top priority in promoting literacy, particularly among cooperatives and small businesses. This study focused on the digitization process at the Ministry of Cooperatives and Small Businesses Library. Observation of participants was used, with the author acting as a recording device in the process. Planning, digitalization, and finalization are the three key stages of the digitization process. A traditional library can now be accessed online, albeit with limited coverage. It is open to the entire public.

Abstract:
The aim of this study was to investigate the role of accounting digitization in entrepreneurial success in West Java. A quantitative research approach was used, and data were collected from 250 small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) using a structured questionnaire. The study analyzed the impact of accounting digitization on efficiency, accuracy, cost reduction, customer satisfaction, and data security using Structural Equation Modeling (SEM) with Smart PLS software. The results of the study showed that accounting digitization has a significant positive impact on all five constructs. Specifically, the use of accounting digitization tools improves the efficiency and accuracy of accounting processes, leading to cost savings and increased customer satisfaction. Additionally, data security measures are crucial to protect sensitive financial information. The study highlights the importance of government support and policies that encourage the adoption of accounting digitization by SMEs in West Java. This can help SMEs to remain competitive in the global market, increase productivity, and create more job opportunities. However, the study has some limitations, such as the focus on only one region and the use of a quantitative research approach. Future research can use a qualitative research approach to gain more in-depth insights into the experiences and perceptions of SME owners and managers regarding accounting digitization.

Abstract:
COVID-19 and Russia’s war against Ukraine have created many challenges for the business models of SMEs, stimulating them to develop alternative forms of business. Among the key alternatives, one should single out digitization. However, imperfections of Ukraine’s state support system for digital transformation necessitate adapting the positive practice of leading countries with excellent business digitalization. Therefore, this paper structures the practical experience of state support of European countries in the digitalization of SMEs. The study conducts a cluster analysis to identify countries whose experience in state support for business digitalization is the best for adoption. Clustering employed the criterion of using key digitization instruments: internet of things, integration of business processes into electronic processes, digital integration with customers/suppliers, cloud services, big data analysis, and artificial intelligence. Thus, 4 clusters were identified (the first cluster comprises 16 countries, the second – 2, the third – 5, and the fourth – 7). These findings contributed to the selection of some key measures. They included: expanding the financial capabilities of SMEs to adopt digital technologies in their processes; formation of digital hard skills among entrepreneurs and increasing the personnel potential of SME digitization; creation of a favorable business environment to stimulate the digital activity of SMEs; and popularization of business digitalization strategy as a component of digital transformation strategy in society.

This study aims to analyse digital readiness of SMEs (Small and Medium Enterprises), especially in Sumedang district, as well as what factors must be optimized for SMEs to be able to adopt the development of digitalization. Quantitative and qualitative methods were used simultaneously in this research. Questionnaires were distributed offline and online through exhibitions, communities, community service activities, and social media. However, the data has been collected and valid is 182 data. As for calculating the level of digitization, it was adapted from the calculations carried out by previous researchThe results of data processing show that level of digital readiness of SMEs in Sumedang is still low, it’s at level 1 (Digital outsider). The results showed that from 5 variables: people, strategy, process, integration, and technology, the majority of SMEs in Sumedang were more prepared in terms of process and integration. The findings of this study indicate various parties who support development of SMEs towards digitalization must pay attention to readiness of SMEs and optimize assistance and/or training on aspects that hinder the adoption of digitalization such as lack of knowledge about service providers and technology, increase collaborating, etc.

Abstract:
The importance of new disrupting technologies and innovations is crucial for Small and Medium-Sized Enterprises (SMEs). SMEs are critical to large factories because, in many cases, they are their suppliers. Therefore, there is a need for digitization solutions, innovative approaches, and disruptive technologies in these factories. These areas significantly disrupt the usual processes in SMEs. SMEs thus have to deal with significant changes in their business in a relatively short time. The benefits of new approaches for SMEs are described in the second half of the article in the case study. This study deals with the possibility of using a software tool from previous research on the workplace for the production planning and logistics systems team in the selected Slovak factory. The paper itself focuses on the Slovak engineering industry, digitalization and innovations. The selected factory manufactures compressor technology. The factory did not hesitate to use the possibility of cooperation and verification of various functionalities. The cooperation aimed to analyze the current state of production of the selected product and the subsequent design of increasing productivity and economic efficiency concerning improving its internal conditions.

Abstract:
The purpose of this article is to propose a guide for the digital transformation (4.0) of a manufacturing SME’s medium-term production planning process, the master production schedule (MPS). A model of the current MPS process of a group of SMEs is presented as a starting point toward digitization. The current state of this process reveals a lack of tools to support decision making and the need to increase the reliability of input data and to make the process more agile. Industry 4.0 technologies and process modeling could increase agility in the planning process. However, the digital transformation of medium-term planning activities in SMEs has not been studied. To fill this gap, a group of six experts was consulted. The novelty of this study was to identify the Industry 4.0 technologies that could improve medium-term planning and integrate them into a standardized MPS process model. This model is an ultimate point of digitization that cannot be achieved immediately by any SME, but only after several cycles of planning, deployment, and improvement. Therefore, this research also provides a method to help SMEs determine how to start the digitization of their MPS process.

Abstract:
This paper sets out to construct a digitization system for sustainability in small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs). SMEs are the most exposed to the adverse consequences of Covid-19. When people exercise social distancing, they decrease their activity levels outside their homes, resulting in low volume in sales. Because of this, SMEs must shift their mindset by using technological transformation. Compared to offline enterprises, digital SMEs may diversify consumer groups quickly by increasing revenue, providing access to a more extensive client base, increasing operational efficiency, and improving customer experience. SMEs can be expected to maintain their sustainability as a result. But for some SMEs, it is not easy to comprehend the specific digital competencies relevant to their business. However, during the study, it was discovered that online businesses could result in long-term sustainability for their firm, both present and future.

Purpose – The purpose of this paper is to provide insights into the utilization and goals of digital marketing, and examines factors that influence the adoption and use of digital marketing channels in SMEs. Design/methodology/approach – The data comprises semi-structured theme interviews in SMEs among 16 managers and 421 survey respondents in Central Finland. Findings – The results of this study reveal that SMEs seem not use the full potential of the new digital tools, and so are not deriving benefit from the opportunities they provide. Furthermore, the results also raise the question of whether SMEs have understood the fundamental change in the nature of communication brought about by digitization. Research limitations/implications – The data comes from one region and thus the research context limits the generalizability of the results. Practical implications – SMEs seem not to be keeping pace with digital developments, mostly due to the lack of knowledge of digital marketing. Most of the studied SMEs do not apply the full potential of the new digital tools and hence are not benefitting fully from them. Social implications – Discussions on the future regional development of SMEs have called for training programmes to help SMEs exploit digitization. This is something that the government should take note of. Originality/value – Whereas the adoption process of new technologies such as IT in general and the internet in particular have been examined in the SME literature, this is among the first studies examining adoption and usage of digital tools from the marketing perspective.

Abstract:
Abstract From the beginning of the 20th century, a lot of research has been conducted on how SMEs contribute to the development of innovative activities and vice versa, on how new technologies and innovation have the potential to influence small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs). Nowadays, given the highly competitive and dynamic business environment, SMEs are constantly and actively trying to find ways to keep up with the latest developments, which is not always an easy task. Digital technologies and innovation in business administration and other related fields are key attributes that can be seen as essential elements in the field of entrepreneurship. Thus, digitization has become a crucial factor in the business world, and its impact on SMEs cannot be neglected. Nonetheless, company size, capital and resources seem to limit SMEs’ ability to adopt digital technologies. However, countless studies argue that a smaller firm size allows SMEs to be more flexible to change. Therefore, both digital progress and innovation have become highly relevant tools for businesses to improve their performance, reduce their costs and increase their efficiency, and are seen as key factors for competitiveness, development and economic growth. With this paper we understand how Romania, with its expanding economy and support for entrepreneurs, has the potential to be a relevant player in the digital economy, although its current ranking on the level of digitization and innovation is considerably lower than the EU average.

Abstract:
The objective of this research is to determine the main factors of cloud computing that explain the variability of the digitalization of SMEs in Peru. The type of research is basic, with a quantitative approach, at the explanatory level, with a non-experimental design, and a sample of 211 SMEs in Peru. The research concludes that there is a significant influence of cloud computing and certain factors in the digitalization of SMEs in Peru. An exploratory factor analysis (EFA) was carried out, obtaining values above 0.90 for the Kaiser-Meyer-Olkin tests, as well as the Barlett's sphericity test p=0.000 and the analysis of variance explained by 66.26% for cloud computing and 68.28% for the digitalization of SMEs, determining that the interrelation of the items is satisfactory. Confirmatory factor analysis (CFA) was applied, obtaining values for CFI=0.901, and TLI=0.890, being close to 1, thus determining that the models are appropriate and give validity to the construct. Additionally, construct validity is performed by PLS-SEM analysis of the model. The research determines that there is a moderate to strong correlation of part of the factors of cloud computing in the digitalization of SMEs, through Spearman's correlation coefficient obtaining values higher than 0.685, as well as through the ordinal regression that through the Pseudo R-squared in the Nagelkerke indicator obtained 80% and in the model adjustment obtaining Sig = 0.00. These results were contrasted with the bootstrapping method through the PLS-SEM analysis obtained for the T-statistic values greater than 2, as well as for the P-values lower than 0.05, these results determine that there is a causal relationship between the factors of cloud computing and digitalization of SMEs.

The pandemic has significantly affected small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) due to their lack of financial and technological resources. The disruption of supply chains has affected the ability of SMEs to obtain raw materials and finished goods, which has increased production costs and decreased revenue. Additionally, digitization has become a crucial tool for businesses seeking to adapt to the pandemic, but many SMEs have faced significant challenges in terms of a lack of technology skills and resources, and limited connectivity in some regions. Government support has been instrumental in helping SMEs survive during the pandemic. Government programs that provide financial aid and business advice have been especially effective for SMEs. However, it is important that government support programs are accessible and easy to understand for SMEs, and that they are tailored to the specific needs of each sector.

Abstract:
Abstract The profound negative effects of the current pandemic crisis on firms, especially small and medium-sized ones, have forced them to rethink their business models. In order to survive and compete, many businesses have focused on adopting and using digital technologies. Several studies have shown that digital technologies could facilitate business continuity and increase their resilience to shocks. Starting from the fact that SMEs are an important source of innovation and the predominant form of business organization, the European Commission has repeatedly emphasized the importance of digital business transformation and the need to support the digitalisation of SMEs. Our study aims to analyse the degree of digitalisation of SMEs in EU countries and the obstacles they face in digitizing their business. In addition, we aim to examine the extent to which the use of various forms of digital technology could stimulate the growth of SME performance. The analysis covers the 27 EU member states and is mainly based on data provided by the European Commission and the OECD, as well as information provided by European Investment Bank surveys. Our paper complements the literature focused on the digitization of SMEs, especially by highlighting the gaps between EU countries in terms of digitization of the SME sector, but also by empirically examining the impact of digital technologies on the performance of SMEs in EU countries. Through its content, our study emphasizes the crucial importance of digitizing SMEs so that these companies are drivers of economic growth and development of countries. The results of our research may be of interest to both researchers concerned with business digitalisation and decision-makers at various levels, who should prioritize the identification of appropriate measures to stimulate digital innovation and investment in information and communication technology infrastructure.

Today's increasingly rapid use of digital technology has created many new opportunities for organizations in all industrial fields. Digital transformation has a positive impact on innovation and company performance based on the theory of the resource-based view. The growth of Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) and their relatively high role in the community's economy, is also accompanied by several problems that arise in the face of the current digitalization era. The main challenges in the digitization process for SMEs are limited financial resources, limited knowledge resources, and limited technology awareness. An ecosystem-based digital platform enables SMEs to integrate strategic knowledge sources while configuring internal and external resources to better respond to a dynamic and volatile environment.

The aim of the paper is to identify some of the factors that affect the introduction of Industry 4.0 elements to small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs). The article is concerned with factors that can be impulsive for SMEs and factors that, on the contrary, are limiting for SMEs to integrate Industry 4.0 into the enterprises. These factors are the result of a short brainstorming with some employees of 72 selected SMEs for case studies. The analysis of 1018 Czech SMEs showed that the introduction of Industry 4.0 is related to the size of the enterprise. Fisher’s Factorial Test based on a four-fold contingency table tested the data. The majority of medium-sized enterprises consider introducing digitization and robotization elements in the next 5 years, while in the case of micro-enterprises it was less than a half of the enterprises of the sample. At the same time, the relation between the enterprises with a written strategy and enterprises planning to implement Industry 4.0 was demonstrated.

Human capital management (HCM) helps manage and develop human capital (HC) in businesses through investments that increase the value of HC and contribute to improving the financial situation of companies. Industry 4.0 (4IR) presents new challenges especially for small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs). The article aim is to find out how important SMEs perceive investments in HC, whether they evaluate the effectiveness of investments in HC and which of the selected HCM activities related to digitization they consider essential. It was used basic scientific methods, Cronbach’s alpha, descriptive statistics, and the chi-square test. It was found that in 2020 up to 49.56% and in 2021 up to 63.94% of respondents consider the funds spent on employees as investments in HC. In connection with digitization, it is striking that up to 76.98% of SMEs in 2020 and 68.34% of respondents in 2021 did not use a personnel information system (HRIS) and an even greater number of companies did not even prepare reports for the HC area. The originality of the article lies in the processing of a two-year questionnaire survey and in the intersection of HCM and Industry 4.0. This is a very current topic, which is also emphasized by the European Union. Future research could focus on employee training models (HC development), or on the culture of innovation and adaptability in companies that digitalize.

Abstract:
Small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) play an important role in the development of national economies. The specificity of digital transformation in the conditions of green transition requires the disclosure of the problems and opportunities arising in their practice. Based on a conceptual framework of the digital transformation of SMEs in the context of the green transition, this study outlines some of these issues and opportunities through in-depth interviews with expert managers managing SMEs. The analysis of the results shows: the specificity of the problems of SMEs working in the field of production of organic food and bio products; the role of digitization of activities in the management of SMEs to support the transition to productions with minimal impact on the environment; the need to inform customers about the benefits of consuming products that do not endanger the environment; the need to explore the application of artificial intelligence in the field of ecological production. On the basis of these conclusions, a quantitative study of the problems and challenges faced by SMEs in the digitalization of their activities in the conditions of the green transition can be planned.

Abstract:
The development of digital finance provides new opportunities for solving the dilemma of innovation financing for small- and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs). This study empirically examined the heterogeneous characteristics and mediating mechanisms of digital finance and its incentive effects on SME innovation using panel data of Chinese and GEM board-listed companies from 2010 to 2021. It was found that digital finance can significantly incentivize SME innovation; however, there are differences in efficacy among digital finance sub-dimensions, with breadth of coverage having the strongest effect, followed by depth of use, and digitization degree having a non-significant effect. Meanwhile, there is heterogeneity in the incentive effect of digital finance on SME innovation, which is manifested as private SMEs and SMEs in regions with stronger financial regulations and a higher degree of marketization being more likely to be incentivized by digital finance to innovate. In addition, digital finance can indirectly incentivize SMEs to innovate through three paths: alleviating financing constraints, improving risk tolerance, and solving information asymmetry.

Abstract:
This research provides valuable insights into the impact of digital entrepreneurship on the digitalization of small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) in Yemen. By integrating the Technology Acceptance Model (TAM) and the Technology-Organization-Environment (TOE) framework, the research examines the role of various factors-technological, organizational, environmental, and individual, affecting technology adoption and utilization in SMEs. The study primarily explores the direct and indirect influences of these factors on actual system use, with a particular focus on the mediating roles of perceived usefulness and perceived ease of use in shaping attitudes toward technology adoption. Data were collected through a survey of 392 respondents, and the results were analyzed using partial least squares structural equation modelling (PLS-SEM). The measurement model was validated for reliability and accuracy, followed by an evaluation of the structural model to test the proposed hypotheses. The findings highlight the critical role of information and communication technology (ICT) adoption in enhancing both perceived ease of use and perceived usefulness. Additionally, the knowledge of IT entrepreneurs and government support were found to uniquely influence perceived ease of use and perceived usefulness, respectively. Both of these perceptions, in turn, positively impacted attitudes toward and the actual use of digital tools within SMEs. To address the challenges faced by Yemeni SMEs, it is recommended to enhance digitalization through ICT adoption and promote a pro-technology culture. Policymakers should create a supportive environment via targeted policies, subsidies, and public-private partnerships to foster sustainable growth and competitiveness.

Abstract:
The problem of financing constraints has always been an important factor restricting the development of small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), and digital inclusive finance has also been increasingly developed to become a powerful helper in alleviating the financing constraints of the enterprises. Based on the provincial panel data of digital inclusive finance from 2011 to 2020, the paper focuses on analyzing the improvement of SMEs' financing constraints by the development of digital inclusive finance and its secondary indicators covering depth, breadth, and digitization degree, specifically from the nature of the enterprise's shareholding and the economic location of the province where the enterprise operates to perform the heterogeneity analysis. The empirical results show that the development of digital inclusive finance can significantly improve the problem of SME financing constraints, especially for non-state-owned enterprises and enterprises located in the eastern provinces, the mitigating effect is the strongest, and the degree of digitization of digital inclusive finance has the best effect on the improvement of enterprise financing constraints among the three secondary indicators. Therefore, this paper suggests that digital inclusive finance should continue to strengthen the universality, strengthen the digitization degree of digital inclusive finance as well as the guiding role of the government policy, and promote the various types of enterprises in all regions of China to broaden the financing channels and improve the source of funds, so as to promote the benign development of China's enterprises and economic prosperity.
