Dimethylacetamide (DMA) solvent is oxidized catalytically to CH₃CON(CH₃)CH₂OOH and CH₃CON(CH₃)CHO under H₂/0₂ mixtures at 50°C in the presence of the dimethylsulfoxide complex RhCl₃(DMSO)₃ (I) at a rate which is much faster than peroxide-initiated autoxidation of DMA under O₂ alone. The hydroperoxide is thought to be the initial product, and the N-formyl derivative its decomposition product. An accompanying metal-catalyzed hydrogenolysis of 0₂ leads to H₂0₂ and H₂0. A comprehensive DMS oxidation reaction mechanism was added to a chemical box model (Model of Chemistry Considering Aerosols - MOCCA) to investigate how atmospheric sulfate levels are affected by pollution in the marine boundary layer. Foram preparadas algumas 2-sulfinil-3,6-dimetil-1,4-benzoquinonas racêmicas (contendo substituintes p-tolila, terc-butila, iso-butila e iso-propila ligados ao enxofre) e estudadas as suas reações de Diels-Alder com ciclopentadieno, sob condições térmicas e catalíticas. Carbonyl sulfide (OCS) is emitted to the atmosphere through the outgassing of ocean surface waters. OCS is also the primary source of sulfur-containing compounds in the stratosphere and contributes to the formation of the stratospheric sulfate layer, an essential controller of the radiative balance of the atmosphere. During the 2016 Student Airborne Research Program (SARP), 15 whole air samples were collected on the NASA DC-8 aircraft over the Santa Barbara Channel.
