Abstract:
AbstractA telephone survey among two randomly selected, representative samples of adults was conducted two days after a suicide bomber event in Dimona, Israel. Television, radio, Internet, and newspapers were more common sources of information in the general population, whereas friends, family, and the local authorities were the more common sources of information in Dimona. Higher acquaintance with police instructions and higher knowledge of the exact location of the event were found in the population of Dimona. Authorities must pay attention to this phenomenon and use the correct sources of information in each area in order to achieve better exposure of the target population to the police instructions after a terrorist event.

Abstract:
Forest fragmentation may affect the abundance and distribution of organisms. Some species populations decrease being eventually driven to local extinction while other species may experience population increase. In a survey of the composition and abundance of secondary and weedy palms in eight forest fragments (three of 1-, three of 10- and two of 100-ha), in three sites (Dimona, Porto Alegre and Esteio) in central Amazonia, five native palm species which do not occur in the continuous forest were identified. Three were secondary species (Astrocaryum acaule Mart., Bactris maraja Mart. var. maraja and Bactris sp), one weedy (Lepidocaryum tenue Mart.), and one of unknown status (B. oligocarpa Barb. Rodr. & Trail). The highest abundance was found in the 1-ha fragments which had 172 of the 206 palms found compared with 33 in the 10-ha and one in the 100-ha fragments. However, most of these palms occur in the Dimona site, which accounted for 195 of the 206 of the individuals, compared with seven in Esteio and four in Porto Alegre. The weedy L. tenue, which forms clonal populations, although occurring only in Dimona, accounted for 91% of the individuals recorded. It is possible that with increased habitat degradation of small fragments, some populations of secondary and weedy species will also increase, what may be detrimental to the closed forest plant species populations occurring in forest fragments.

Abstract:
Abstract: Often has the lack of medieval drama texts been interpreted as a lack of theatre tradition altogether. Nonetheless, there was a theatre tradition during the medieval period that extends all the way to the contemporary theatre. Through these pages, I intend to give an account of the link between the medieval daemon with a contemporary Spanish emblematic performance, Dimonis by Comediants, with which I hope to contribute to a better understanding of it as well as to reconstruct a tradition once thought as non-existent.Keywords: Dimonis, Comediants, contemporary theatre, Granada Interna- tional Theatre Festival, Medieval daemon.

Abstract:
The thesis examines Western complicity in covertly aiding, concealing and covering up Israel's nuclear weapons program and the implications that process had on the Soviet Union and Egypt during the Cold War. At the circumvention of the democratic process, Dimona's history is defined by shadowy scientism, obsequious journalism, secretive bureaucracies, clandestine corporatism and great power imperialism. In late October 1956 Israel acquired from France an atomic weapons reactor, with construction beginning in the Negev desert at Dimona during late 1957 or early 1958. During the ensuing years Israel received heavy water from Norway and Great Britain and uranium from Gabon, Argentina and South Africa. The atomic project was covertly funded by private Jewish donations from Canada, London, Paris and Wall Street. As early as 1958 factions within the State Department, Atomic Energy Commission and CIA factions were cognizant of Dimona's existence yet the bureaucracy chose to remain silent. When Dimona was unveiled by the media in December 1960, the White House salaciously denied possessing any foreknowledge of the reactor's nature, status or origins. The CIA-controlled and Jewish-dominated U.S. media obsequiously followed the state script by informing the public that Dimona was dedicated towards peaceful ends. During the 1960s the U.S. conducted pre-arranged tours of the facility, provided Israel with uranium and missiles to guard the reactor, covered up Israel's nuclear ambitions following China's first atomic test in October 1964, and refused to pressure Israel to sign the 1968 Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty. Even though Dimona was the key catalyst of the conflict, the U.S. also suppressed Israel's nuclear program from emerging as the defining subject of the Six Day War. Armed with intelligence deriving from Israeli sources, in early 1966 the Kremlin began utilizing Cairo as a proxy mouth piece to rhetorically denounce Israel's atomic agenda as Soviet relations with Egypt and the Arabs grew more intimate. In a failed attempt to destroy the reactor, the U.S.S.R. instigated the Six Day War crisis by fabricating false intelligence concerning Israeli troop concentrations and overflying the reactor with its most advanced plane in late May 1967.

Abstract:
At least three poorly soluble compounds can be formed in the CuSO4 – K4P2O7 – H2O system: a single salt Cu2P2O7.5H2O and two dimorph’s both having chemical formula Cu3K2(P2O7)2.3H2O. A previously known form of Cu3K2(P2O7)2.3H2O (we named it Dimorph A) transforms into a novel Dimorph B, which has a different structure. The similarities between the XRD patterns and vibrations spectra of copper–ammonium and copper–potassium Dimorph’s B imply that they are isostructural. The values of the angle for copper–potassium and copper–ammonium salts and Cu2P2O7.5H2O are relatively low and vary within a narrow range (123.1 – 127.1°). The formation of the compounds significantly depends on the conditions of the experiment. A double salt in the CuSO4 – K4P2O7 – H2O system may be formed after some time in the reaction mixture as a result of the following heterogeneous reaction: 3Cu2P2O7∙5H2O↓ + H2P2O72– + 4K+ → 2Cu3K2(P2O7)2∙3H2O↓ + 2H+ + 9H2O This reaction has not been previously described for any polyphosphate system. Therefore, novel results of scientific investigation are presented. The rate, duration and yield of heterogeneous reaction substantially depend on pH of the solution, [Cu2+ + P2O74–] and n ([P2O74–] / [Cu2+]). At a relatively low pH the induction time is high, the reaction rate is low and duration is long. The maximal yields close to 100% can be achieved when [Cu2+ + P2O74–] = 0.1 M. At increased pH values, the induction time, the yield and duration of the reaction diminish... [to full text]

Full text
Abstract:

Abstract:
Chapter 3 posits that the overriding objective of the Kennedy, Johnson, and Nixon administrations was to avoid containment failure in the Middle East. Thwarting the Israeli nuclear weapons program was a secondary objective. As Soviet arms sales to Egypt and Syria accelerated in the mid-1960s, the regional power distribution became unfavorable and the time horizons of threats to US interests grew shorter. The Johnson administration abandoned Kennedy’s demands for inspections of the Dimona reactor and instead sold M-48 tanks, A-4 Skyhawks, and later F-12 Phantoms to bolster Israel’s defenses. Congress, however, made it difficult for the Johnson and the Nixon administrations to link arms transfers to Israeli concessions on the nuclear issue. Chapter 3 examines the evolution of the US-Israeli strategic relationship against the backdrop of the Cold War from Kennedy’s demands for inspections in 1961 through the October 1973 Middle East War.
