Abstract:
AbstractA telephone survey among two randomly selected, representative samples of adults was conducted two days after a suicide bomber event in Dimona, Israel. Television, radio, Internet, and newspapers were more common sources of information in the general population, whereas friends, family, and the local authorities were the more common sources of information in Dimona. Higher acquaintance with police instructions and higher knowledge of the exact location of the event were found in the population of Dimona. Authorities must pay attention to this phenomenon and use the correct sources of information in each area in order to achieve better exposure of the target population to the police instructions after a terrorist event.

Abstract:
Forest fragmentation may affect the abundance and distribution of organisms. Some species populations decrease being eventually driven to local extinction while other species may experience population increase. In a survey of the composition and abundance of secondary and weedy palms in eight forest fragments (three of 1-, three of 10- and two of 100-ha), in three sites (Dimona, Porto Alegre and Esteio) in central Amazonia, five native palm species which do not occur in the continuous forest were identified. Three were secondary species (Astrocaryum acaule Mart., Bactris maraja Mart. var. maraja and Bactris sp), one weedy (Lepidocaryum tenue Mart.), and one of unknown status (B. oligocarpa Barb. Rodr. & Trail). The highest abundance was found in the 1-ha fragments which had 172 of the 206 palms found compared with 33 in the 10-ha and one in the 100-ha fragments. However, most of these palms occur in the Dimona site, which accounted for 195 of the 206 of the individuals, compared with seven in Esteio and four in Porto Alegre. The weedy L. tenue, which forms clonal populations, although occurring only in Dimona, accounted for 91% of the individuals recorded. It is possible that with increased habitat degradation of small fragments, some populations of secondary and weedy species will also increase, what may be detrimental to the closed forest plant species populations occurring in forest fragments.

Abstract: Often has the lack of medieval drama texts been interpreted as a lack of theatre tradition altogether. Nonetheless, there was a theatre tradition during the medieval period that extends all the way to the contemporary theatre. Through these pages, I intend to give an account of the link between the medieval daemon with a contemporary Spanish emblematic performance, Dimonis by Comediants, with which I hope to contribute to a better understanding of it as well as to reconstruct a tradition once thought as non-existent.Keywords: Dimonis, Comediants, contemporary theatre, Granada Interna- tional Theatre Festival, Medieval daemon.

Abstract:
The innervation patterns of vestibular saccular afferents were quantitatively investigated in pigeons using biotinylated dextran amine as a neural tracer and three-dimensional computer reconstruction. Type I hair cells were found throughout a large portion of the macula, with the highest density observed in the striola. Type II hair cells were located throughout the macula, with the highest density in the extrastriola. Three classes of afferent innervation patterns were observed, including calyx, dimorph, and bouton units, with 137 afferents being anatomically reconstructed and used for quantitative comparisons. Calyx afferents were located primarily in the striola, innervated a number of type I hair cells, and had small innervation areas. Most calyx afferent terminal fields were oriented parallel to the anterior-posterior axis and the morphological polarization reversal line. Dimorph afferents were located throughout the macula, contained fewer type I hair cells in a calyceal terminal than calyx afferents and had medium sized innervation areas. Bouton afferents were restricted to the extrastriola, with multi-branching fibers and large innervation areas. Most of the dimorph and bouton afferents had innervation fields that were oriented dorso-ventrally but were parallel to the neighboring reversal line. The organizational morphology of the saccule was found to be distinctly different from that of the avian utricle or lagena otolith organs and appears to represent a receptor organ undergoing evolutionary adaptation toward sensing linear motion in terrestrial and aerial species.

Abstract:
Israel is considering constructing its ‘first’ officially declared nuclear power plant, raising fears over the potential development of its nuclear arsenal. While international efforts are increasingly focusing on nuclear non-proliferation, one of the world’s oldest nuclear reactors—Dimona—which by all indications is not only obsolete, but also structurally compromised—is still operating in Israel, posing enormous environmental and security threats to the entire Middle East. On the grounds that whatever reasons Israel may have had for acquiring a nuclear arsenal, implicit or explicit, these no longer hold, and given the environmental danger posed, this article argues that Israel should shut down Dimona as a first step toward establishing a nuclear-free region. The article highlights the different types of weapons in Israel’s current nuclear arsenal as well as the attendant hazards of pollution, radiation and wastes, in addition to serious questions about adequate failsafe measures. The case presented is informed by hitherto unpublished material from a series of telephone interviews and consultations with Dr Samuel Cohen, ‘father of the neutron bomb’, and Dr Frank Barnaby, nuclear physicist and weapons expert who debriefed Mordechai Vanunu. Finally, the article suggests certain measures Israel could take to gradually eliminate its arsenal and avoid a cataclysmic scenario evocative of Chernobyl, without detracting from its overall ‘security’ claim. This article reflects the views of the author and does not necessarily reflect the views of Drs Cohen or Barnaby, who were both consulted strictly in a technical capacity, nor does it necessarily reflect the views of either the Centre for Arab Unity Studies (CAUS) or the publisher Routledge (Taylor & Francis, UK).

Abstract:
The hypothesis that liver lipid accumulation in fish is an adaptive strategy to survive the winter in the high-altitude environment was assessed in this study. During summer 2019, specimens of Cottus gobio were sampled in 15 watercourses of Friuli Venezia-Giulia Region (Italy) to verify if hepatic steatosis is or not normally present in the species. To do this, hepatic vacuolization was assessed by histology using a semiquantitative score. Furthermore, C. gobio were also captured during the ice-free season at Dimon Lake (1872 m a.s.l.) and But Stream (520 m a.s.l.) to compare the trend in lipid accumulation: water temperature, hepatosomatic index (HSI), gonadosomatic index (GSI), Fulton’s condition factor (K), and lipid area percentage (lipid %) were measured monthly. Findings revealed that liver steatosis is rather common in C. gobio. However, the trend in lipid accumulation of this species differed between Dimon Lake and But Stream. Based on the HSI and the GSI, the reproductive cycles differed in fish from the two environments (April–May in But Stream; May–June in Dimon Lake). While K values remained unchanged in the But Stream specimens, significant changes were recorded for Dimon specimens. The increase in lipid % from July to August in the Dimon Lake specimens coincided with greater food availability. With the rapid drop in lake water temperature in October, the lipid % decreased due to slower metabolic rate and lipid utilization from liver stores. There was a slight decrease in lipid % in the But Stream specimens, indicating that lipids were not being accumulated. Introduced years ago, the Dimon Lake bullhead population has since adapted to the winter conditions at high elevation.

Abstract:
AbstractThe new mineral anorpiment, As2S3, the triclinic dimorph of orpiment, has space group PI and cell parameters a = 5.7577(2), b = 8.7169(3), c = 10.2682(7) Å, α = 78.152(7), β = 75.817(7), γ = 89.861(6)°, V = 488.38(4) Å3 and Z = 4. It occurs at the Palomo mine, Castrovirreyna Province. Huancavelica Department, Peru. It is a low-temperature hydrothermal mineral associated with dufrenoysite, muscovite, orpiment, pyrite and realgar. It occurs in drusy crusts of wedge-shaped, transparent, greenish yellow crystals. The streak is yellow. The lustre is resinous on crystal faces, but pearly on cleavage surfaces. The Mohs hardness is about VA. The mineral is sectile with an irregular fracture and one perfect and easy cleavage on ﹛001﹜. The measured and calculated densities are 3.33 and 3.321 g cm–3, respectively. All indices of refraction are greater than 2. The mineral is optically biaxial (—) with 2V = 35—40° and no observed dispersion. The acute bisectrix (X) is approximately perpendicular to the ﹛001﹜ cleavage. Electron microprobe analyses yielded the averages and ranges in wt.%: As 58.21 (57.74–59.03), S 38.72 (38.33–39.00), total 96.94 (96.07–97.75), providing the empirical formula (based on 5 atoms) As1.96S3.04. The strongest powder X-ray diffraction lines are [d (hkl) I] 4.867(002) 97, 4.519 (110,11̄1) 77, 3.702 (1̄1̄1) 46, 3.609 (022,11̄2) 82, 2.880(201,02̄2,1̄2̄1,023) 75, 2.552 (1̄13,1̄31,132) 100, 2.469 (114,130,13̄1) 96. The structure of anorpiment [R1 = 0.021 for 1484 reflections with F0 > 4σ(F)] consists of layers of covalently bonded As and S atoms. Each S atom bonds to two As atoms at As—S—As angles between 100.45 and 104.15°. Each As atom is strongly bonded to three S atoms at S—As—S angles between 91.28 and 103.59°, forming an AsS3 pyramid with As at its apex. The As—S linkages within the layers form rings of six AsS3 pyramids. Interlayer bonding forces are interpreted as van der Waals. The structure of anorpiment is similar to that of orpiment in that it is composed of layers of As2S3 macromolecules, but arranged in a different stacking sequence.

Although the only other species in this subgenus (A. aggregata Lehm.) is annual, nutlet morphology is strikingly similar between these two taxa. The new species is a perennial, herbaceous plant with succulent roots and reproduces vegetatively by adventitious shoots from its roots. It is known only from a 0.2 hectare area of weathered, Neogene sandstone outcrop, situated with a sloping aspect and subject to high wind erosion, located 10km SE of Dimona, Israel.

Abstract:
In this article, Rozita Dimova examines the rearticulation of class and ethnicity and how class distinctions produced by a free market and neoliberal economy in Macedonia have affected the interaction of Albanians and Macedonians in postsocialist Macedonia. Dimova highlights the ethnic dimensions of changing patterns of consumption by exploring the class mobility of one ethnic group (Albanians) and thus combines class, commodities, and consumption with notions of ethnicity. The process of articulating ethnicity and class is induced by the larger neoliberal context of the post-Cold War world in which the political economy of the "free" market and privatization inform local subjectivities. The domain of consumption, therefore, offers a place from which we can understand the complex interactions of multiple actors in Macedonia and see the various economic, performative, and symbolic significance of consumption in which the social mobility of the nouveaux riches Albanians has contributed to the loss of class privileges experienced by many ethnic Macedonians.

Abstract:
The aim of this study was to describe liver alterations observed in a bullhead (Cottus gobio) population from a high-mountain lake (Dimon Lake; 1857 m a.s.l.) located in Carnic Alps (Northeast Italy). Two fish sampling campaigns (summer and autumn) were performed in 2017 to explore the possible causes of this phenomenon. In addition, to investigate the typical liver features of C. gobio, control specimens were captured from Degano Creek in the same seasons. Total length, weight, and liver weight were recorded in fish from both sampling sites. In addition, Fulton’s condition factor (K) and hepatosomatic index (HSI) were calculated. Stomach contents were also analyzed. Liver from each specimen was sampled, and histological examination was carried out. Liver steatosis (L) (nuclear displacement and cytoplasm vacuolization) were histologically evaluated by assigning a semiquantitative severity score. A significant difference in L was found between Dimon Lake and Degano Creek in both summer (Mann–Whitney test; p = 0.0001) and autumn (Mann–Whitney test; p < 0.0001). Regarding HSI, a significant difference was also recorded between Dimon Lake and Degano Creek in summer (Mann–Whitney test; p < 0.0001) and also in autumn (Mann–Whitney test; p < 0.0001), but no seasonal change in K values was recorded between the two sites in both summer (Mann–Whitney test; p = 0.8589) and autumn (Mann–Whitney test; p = 0.6415). A significant positive correlation between HSI and L was found (ρS 0.573). The causes of this abnormality might be related to adaptation by the fish to the high-altitude environment, accumulating lipids in the liver to tackle the adverse season, which lasts for 6 months of the year. Nonetheless, our study does not preclude steatosis induced by a nearly exclusive chironomids diet in bullhead from Dimon Lake.

Abstract:
The vestibular semicircular canals are responsible for detection of rotational head motion although the precise mechanisms underlying the transduction and encoding of movement information are still under study. In the present investigation, we utilized neural tracers and immunohistochemistry to quantitatively examine the topology and afferent innervation patterns of the horizontal semicircular canal crista (HCC) in pigeons ( Columba livia). Two hundred and eighty-six afferents from five horizontal canal organs were identified of which 92 units were sufficiently labeled and isolated to perform anatomical reconstructions. In addition, a three-dimensional contour map of the crista was constructed. Bouton afferents were located only in the peripheral regions of the receptor epithelium. Bouton afferents had the most complex innervation patterns with significantly longer and more numerous branches as well as a higher branch order than any other fiber type. Bouton fibers also contained significantly more bouton terminals than did dimorph afferents. Calyx afferents were located only in the apex and central planar regions. Calyx fibers had the largest axonal diameters yet the smallest fiber lengths and innervation areas, the fewest number of branches, the lowest branch order, and the fewest total number of terminals of all fiber types. Dimorph afferents were located throughout the central crista with afferent terminations that were larger and more complex than calyx fibers but less so than bouton fibers. Overall, the pigeon HCC morphology and innervation shares many common features with those of other animal classes.

Abstract:
This report investigated the potential role of gender in moderating the effects of terror attack exposure on depression symptoms in middle school students from Dimona, Israel ( N = 90). Specifically, the effects of three aspects of terror attacks were investigated: physical exposure, relational exposure, and media exposure. Ninety early adolescents were assessed for terror exposure and depression before and after a suicide bombing in a town market. Results indicate that the effects of relational exposure to the suicide bombing—knowing others directly affected by a suicide bombing—on depression symptoms differed by gender. Adolescent girls who knew people affected by the suicide bombing reacted with higher levels of depressive symptoms while similarly exposed adolescent boys did not. It may be that girls, as compared to boys, express greater sympathy for victims, and are hence more vulnerable to disruptions of their social network, resulting in a heightened depressive vulnerability.

Abstract:
AbstractNew pyrazolothienopyrimidines were synthesized. The key intermediate 4-aminothieno[2,3-c]pyrazole-5-carbonitrile 1 was converted to the chloroacetyl amino derivative 2 followed by nucleophilic substitution and Dimorth rearrangement upon treatment with nitrogen nucleophiles to give the pyrimidinones 3a-c. Treatment of 3a with formaldehyde and with triethyl orthoformate afforded the respective tetracyclic derivatives 4 and 5. Condensation of the amino group in the o-aminocarbonitrile 1 with triethyl orthoformate followed by cycloaddition reaction with hydrazine led to the formation of pyrazolothienopyrimidine 8. Compound 8 was used as a synthetic precursor to heterocyclic compounds comprised of pyrazole, triazole, triazine, and triazepine derivatives.

Abstract:
Direct dimolar pentanoylation of octyl β-D-glucopyranoside (OBG) in pyridine-chloroform solvent system furnished the corresponding 3,6-di-O-pentanoate in improved yield. The pentanoate was further converted into three 2,4-di-O-acyl esters to get novel octyl glucopyranosides. To explore medicinal probability of OBG-based esters all the synthesized compounds were subjected for in silico PASS (prediction of activity spectra for substances) predication and ADMET (absorption, distribution, metabolism, excretion, and toxicity) studies. Both the studies indicated that OBG derived carbohydrate fatty acid (CFA) esters are potential alternative for multidrug resistant (MDR) pathogens, especially for fungal infections.

Abstract:
The spruce coneworm, Dioryctria reniculleloides (Mut. and Mun.), is often associated with the spruce budworm on spruce host trees and sometimes approaches or equals the spruce budworm, Choristoneura fumiferana (Clem.), in numbers (Spies and Dimond 1985). The coneworn is probably~responsiblefo r some of the damage on spruce attributed to the budworm, and with much balsam fir in eastern North America now dead from defoliation or harvested, there is increasing interest in spruce as the major resource to protect.

Abstract:
Recent molecular evidence supports the transfer of two Australian endemic species, Austrocynoglossum latifolium (R.Br.) R.R.Mill and Cynoglossum suaveolens R.Br., to the genus Hackelia Opiz as H. latifolia (R.R.Mill) Dimon & M.A.M.Renner, comb. nov., and H. suaveolens (R.Br.) Dimon & M.A.M.Renner, comb. nov. Hackelia latifolia comprises two morphological entities that, although sharing the procumbent-prostrate habit and production of elongated internodes and frondose bracts in the inflorescence, differ in a range of qualitative and quantitative micro-morphological characters. Hackelia latifolia has few, widely spaced, thorn-like trichomes on stems, a glabrous abaxial lamina surface, and mericarps with free glochids densely and evenly distributed over the outer surface, and a rectangular cicatrix at the mericarp apex, which is beaked. The other entity has many densely packed cellular trichomes on the stems, trichomes on the abaxial leaf lamina, and mericarps with a wing formed by basally connate glochids, and a triangular cicatrix located centrally on the inner mericarp surface. For the latter, we propose the new species Cynoglossum torvum Dimon & M.A.M.Renner, and by implication suggest that H. latifolia is polyphyletic as previously circumscribed. Whereas H. latifolia s.s. is widespread along the south-eastern coast of Australia from Tasmania to south-eastern Queensland, Cynoglossum torvum is restricted to the tablelands of north-eastern New South Wales and south-eastern Queensland. We compare C. torvum with the other Australian Cynoglossum L. species, C. australe R.Br., confirm previous observations of variation in mericarp morphology, and suggest that further investigation to resolve species circumscription is required given this variation.

Abstract:
The present work deals with the isothermal analysis of worn journal bearing lubricated withNano-lubricants. The bearing wear affect the oil film thickness and causes a decrease in loadcarrying capacity of the journal bearing. On the other hand, many works show that theaddition of Nano- particles to the oil enhances its viscosity. The main goal of the presentwork is to investigate the ability of the Nano-lubricant to correct the wear effect on theperformance of such bearings. The modified Reynolds equation was solved using finitedifference technique to obtain the pressure distribution in the clearance gap of the wornjournal bearing. Dufran's model was used to include the effect of wear on the thickness ofthe oil film. The effect of adding three different types of Nano-particles namely, Dimond,CuO and TiO2 to the base oil has been investigated. Bearing static characteristics in terms ofload capacity, friction force, end leakage and power loss for different eccentricity ratioshave been investigated. The mathematical model has been validated for the pressure resultsobtained in the present work with that obtained by other workers and the results found to bein a good agreement. The results obtained in the present work show that the load carryingcapacity enhances by about40%, 9% and 3% for the bearing with wear depth parameter of0.4, eccentricity ratio of 0.7 lubricated with oil containing TiO2, CuO and Dimond Nanoparticlesrespectively in comparison with pure oil lubricated bearing.
