Abstract:
Novelist Fatou Diome, Senegalese migrant to France, in 2019 reached the twenty-fifth year in her adopted country. Silver-anniversary motives encouraged the author to chart the quarter century of progress of this “megaphone of migritude,” as Lila Azam Zanganeh notably called her. Moving from the rich exegeses of the liminal, haunted, frequently abjected, migritude conditions of her fictional—and often autobiographical—heroines, Diome has now arrived inside the Hexagon, where her words harmonize with a sizable chorus of interior-left establishment voices. However, she has not abandoned her powerful interest in the complexities of migritude’s pains and difficult opportunities. On the contrary, in Marianne porte plainte! Identité nationale: Des passerelles, pas des barrières! (Marianne Complains! National Identity: Gangways, Not Barriers!) (2017), Diome takes up the many threads of the migritude tapestry so fully depicted in her novels and reweaves them into a portrait of an ideal new multicultural French identity.

Abstract:

Abstract:

Abstract:

Abstract:
Several prominent contemporary Francophone women writers have embraced activism in compelling forms. In her written creations, Maïssa Bey from Algeria has continually called attention to the lack of women’s rights in her homeland; she has also initiated writing workshops for women to reflect and express themselves. Fatou Diome, who left Senegal for Strasbourg, has shed light in her work on racism and sexism that African immigrants often face in Europe, and she has created an association in her homeland to help individuals become financially solvent. Yanick Lahens from Haiti has similarly devoted herself to activist endeavours on her island, including co-founding a library and working with youth after the earthquake. As these authors seek to create compassion through writing, they also promote empathy through their engagement outside the text, empowering people of various backgrounds by providing them with literacy skills, business acumen, and a sense that their story matters.

Abstract:
The first of its kind, this special focus section examines a relatively understudied concept and brings together new literary works and scholarship across continents and languages. Contemporary authors and activists like Fatou Diome, Shailja Patel, Abdourahman Waberi, and Igiaba Scego contribute to a new literary, cultural, and political genre called migritude. Migritude initially indicated a group of younger African authors in Paris but has since expanded to include Europe beyond France, such as Britain and Italy, as well as South Asian and Caribbean diasporas. This body of work reveals intersections between complex histories of colonialism, immigration, globalization, and racism against migrants and highlights differences in region, class, gender, and sexuality that constrain the movement of many people. In an era characterized by openly belligerent nationalism and anti-immigrant and anti-LGBTQ rhetoric, this special focus section aims to unpack migritude cultural production in an international context to study and combat these violent trends.

Abstract:
A simple design strategy for a facile and direct entry into hydrogen-bonded peptide nanotubes is delineated with polymethylene-bridged cystine-based macrocycles. The key feature of the design is the placement of a pair of self-complementary hydrogen-bonding (NH–CO or NH–CO–NH) groups at almost opposite poles of the ring. A large variety of cyclobisamides and bisureas prepared in a single step by direct condensation of commercially available 1,ω-alkane dicarbonyl dichloride or diisocyanate with either cystine diOMe or its extended bispeptide were examined by X-ray crystallography and shown to possess an inherent property of self-assembling into hydrogen-bonded, open-ended, hollow tubular structures. The totally hydrophobic interior of the cyclobisamide tubes creates a micro environment capable of solubilizing highly lipophilic substances in water. The cyclic bisurea tubes are demonstrated to act as excellent receptors for selective binding to 1,ω-alkane dicarboxylates. The scope of the design is extended to the creation of tubular structures by stacking of rings through aromatic π-π interactions.

Abstract:
Summary Twenty 3′-substituted-3-stilbenols were synthesized and tested for fungicidal activity (agar plate IC50 values) against two brown-rot fungi rot Gloeophyllum trabeum and Postia placenta and one white-rot fungus Trametes versicolor. Compounds synthesized were eight trans-3-X-3′-stilbenols (X = OMe, Me, Cl, OH, OPr, OBu, OOct, and O-p-Tol), three cis-3-X-3′-stilbenols (X = OMe, Me, Cl), three 3-hydroxy-α-(3-X-phenyl)cinnamic acids (X = OMe, Me, Cl), and six multisubstituted-3′-substituted-3-stilbenols (3′,4-diOMe, 3′-Me-4-OMe, 3′-Cl-4-OMe, 3′-OH-4-OMe, 3′-Cl-4-OMe-4′-OH, and 3′-Cl-4′-OH). The three cinnamic acids and 3′-OOct showed low to no activity against all three fungi. Most of these 3′-substituted-3-stilbenols (15 of 20) had fungicidal activity against the white-rot fungus T. versicolor, in contrast to earlier studies on 3′-substituted-4-stilbenols which were inactive against T. versicolor. These 3′-substituted-3-stilbenols also had fungicidal activity against G. trabeum and P. placenta, with the latter fungus having a parabolic lipophilic Quantitative Structure Activity Relationship (QSAR). 3′-O-p-Tol-3-stilbenol was the most active against T. versicolor and fifth most active against P. placenta of the twenty 3′-substituted-3-stilbenols examined here.

Abstract:
Abstract The stress and accelerated tests as well as photostability analysis in solutions and the solid phase of three selected derivatives of pyrrolo[3,4-c]pyridine-1,3-dione were carried out according the International Conference on Harmonization guidelines. For observation of the degradation of tested compounds, the RP-HPLC method was used. The study included the effect of temperature, relative humidity, water, H+ and OH– ions, hydrogen peroxide, and light (6.0 × 106, 1.2 × 106 lux·h) on the stability of pyrrolo[3,4-c]pyridine-1,3-dione derivatives. Studies have shown that these derivatives are photolabile, extremely unstable in an alkaline medium, labile in an acidic medium, and stable in a neutral medium. Their sensitivity to oxidizing agents depends on the chemical structure. The shortening of the aliphatic chain leads to an increase in the sensitivity to hydrolytic and oxidizing factors. The presence of the 1,3,4-tetraisoquinoline group promotes an increase in the susceptibility to photodegradation. The introduction of a carbonyl group to the aliphatic chain and the tetrafluoromethyl group to the phenyl ring stabilizes the molecule in the case of hydrolysis and oxidation and also increases sensitivity to light. The analysis of observed photodegradation products using the HPLC-diode array detector, HPLC/MS, and UV and IR spectrometry techniques showed degradation targeted at the breaking of the pyrrolo[3,4-c]pyridine-1,3-dione, piperazine, and/or tetrahydroisoquinoline rings.

Abstract:
Background: Thrombus formation and extension to femoral or popliteal veins and pulmonary embolism may be though as a complication of EVLT in varicose veins treatment we aimed to study the thermal energy effect of the procedure under standardized conditions on biochemical markers of platelets and endothelium activities. Patients and methods: 25 patients admitted to vascular surgery dept. of Alexandria armed forces hospital with varicose veins and GSV. reflux and all treated by endovenous laser ablation during: 1/1/2018_12/31/2018. Venous blood samples were taken from iliofemoral and antecubital veins, before during and one day after surgery of P-selectin, soluble thrombomodulin, fibrin degradation products and D-dime Results: There was no immediate rise of P-selectin and s TM in neither iliofemoral nor antecubital veins, where FDPs D-dimer was significantly elevated post operatively in the two regions. Conclusion: 1480 pulsed mode diode laser doesn’t induce measurable endothelial and platelets activation in iliofemoral region during endovenous ablation of varicose veins.

Abstract:
Classical methods for the synthesis of indan-1,3-dione derivatives failed when applied to their tricarbonylchromium complexes. The desired 2-substituted (η6-indan-1,3-dione)tricarbonylchromium complexes were prepared starting from protected indan-1,3-dione derivatives such as bis(dioxolanes) and enol ethers. Tricarbonylchromium complexes of indan-1,3-dione having at least one hydrogen at C-2 are unstable. Nevertheless, ethylation of 2-methyl(η6-indan-1,3-dione)tricarbonylchromium and methylation of 2-ethyl(η6-indan-1,3-dione)tricarbonylchromium were possible and proceeded with high stereoselectivity.
