Abstract:
The endemic Diospyros celebica and widely spread D. blancoi are two valuable species of Diospyros (the genus of persimmons and ebonies) that have been conserved at botanic gardens in Indonesia. Understanding the biological contrasts between endemic and widely spread species is essential for plant conservation. This study aims to compare the phenotypic and estimated genetic variability between the endemic D. celebica and the widely spread D. blancoi to support their conservation. Fifty-three morphological characters from fifteen selected living plant specimens at Purwodadi Botanic Garden were m

Diospyros blancoi, a member of the Ebenaceae family known as ‘Bilati gab’ in Bangla, is traditionally used in treating a number of diseases. The study was aimed to isolate secondary metabolites from the fruits of D. blancoi and exploring the various pharmacological activities of the methanolic extract and its petroleum ether, chloroform and carbon tetrachloride fractions. Three compounds were obtained through phytochemical examination and identified as stigmasterol (1), lupeol (2) and betulinic acid (3) from the petroleum ether soluble fraction. Diospyros blancoi, a member of the Ebenaceae family, has been broadly used in traditional medicine. This study was carried out to assess the antidiarrheal, hypoglycemic, analgesic and antibacterial activities of methanol extract of barks and leaves of D. blancoi. The methanolic extracts of D. blancoi barks and leaves at a dose of 400 mg/kg inhibited 29.22% (p < 0.01) and 19.13% (p < 0.05) diarrheal defecation, respectively. The methanolic extract of barks did not show significant analgesic activity in the acetic acid-induced writhing method. However, the extract of leaves exhibited notab

The purpose of research was to explore the use of Velvet Apple Fruit seeds as adsobent of Cr(III) in waste. Biosorbent of velvet apple fruit seeds in removing Cr (III) metal ions has been investigated using batch method. Several parameters were used to determine absorption optimum conditions such as solution pH, contact time and biosorbent dosage. Langmuir, Freundlich and Temkin isotherm models were used in determining biosorption equilibrium. FT

Mild steel has excellent applicability to structures that provide many benefits to man. On the other hand, exposure to chemical reactions including corrosion leads to their degradation. Thus, minimizing the effect of such phenomenon (corrosion) is needed (since it is a natural process). This study aimed to determine the corrosion inhibition of Diospyros blancoi (velvet apple) acid leaf extract on mild steel in an acidic medium. Further, it determines the concentration at which D. blancoi acid leaf extract (DbAE) performs best in corrosion inhibition parameters. Acidic environment immersion was
