To compute the true error produced by PIV analysis, a patchwork of synthetic image pair with a known displacement is used (ground truth). As real flows might have arbitrary flow direction and magnitude across the phase boundary, the patchwork of image-pair includes a variety of direction combinations, i.e. flows running into each other

With rapid advances in the field of deep learning, explainable artificial intelligence (XAI) methods were introduced to gain insight into internal procedures of deep neural networks. Information gathered by XAI methods can help to identify shortcomings in network architectures and image datasets. Due to this unreliability, this study uses meta information that is produced when applying XAI to enhance the architecture – and thus the prediction performance – of a recently published regression mode

Virtual acoustic environments (VAEs) are an excellent tool in hearing research, especially in the context of investigating spatial-hearing abilities. Here, we describe how Bayesian inference can predict listeners' behavior when estimating the spatial direction of a static sound source presented in a VAE experiment. Abstract:
This report summarizes computational fluid dynamics (CFD) results of electric vertical takeoff and landing (eVTOL) geometries using the SU2 Reynolds-averaged Navier-Stokes (RANS) solver. Geometries were generated based on the Smart Transportation Infrastructure Initiative (STII) Rappor 15th iteration with various rotor-installment solutions. It was found that although open rotors installed on an underwing pylon were superior to shrouded rotors installed in a canoe, the canoe configuration would provide more potential for improvement, and using a canoe door to cover the first rotor opening woul

Abstract:
The Special Supplemental Nutrition Program for Women, Infants, and Children (WIC) provides healthy foods and services to low-income pregnant, breastfeeding, and non-breastfeeding postpartum women, as well as to infants and children up to age 5. In 2009, revisions were made to the WIC program to further improve the nutrition and health of infants by providing benefits to promote and support breastfeeding among those who are able and to improve infant feeding practices. This study compared breastfeeding initiation for rural and urban WIC participants, as well as changes in breastfeeding and infa

Abstract:
The further the SEG travels from Houston, the less well attended are the annual conferences and exhibitions. This impacts the exhibitors who seem to tone down their presence in anticipation of a quiet time. There were correspondingly fewer press releases and press events maybe having the SEG back to back with the SPE had tired folks out some. Having said that, there is one sector where things are booming and that is hardware. Instead of a couple of small booths with esoteric storage devices, high end storage, network devices and clustered PCs are now mainstream to geophysical data processing

Abstract:
Long-range guided wave pipeline inspection is claimed to be able to inspect ranges of well over 30 meters (100 Feet) in either direction (i.e. total inspection greater than 60 Meters or 200 Ft.) from a single position. In terms of inspected meters per measurement and cost per meter this technique can be a fundamental improvement from conventional methods for pipeline inspection. For inspection of hard-to-access locations it offers a good on-stream screening alternative by being able to image the pipe section from an easier-access location. Examples of inaccessible locations are road-, railway-
