All throughout 2020, the entire world experienced a sanitary crisis, which was controlled through different tactics. In this scenario, we can highlight the work of schools, primarily of the headmasters because of their direct impact in the guidance of teachers, families and students. This research is focused on getting to know their different perspectives because as Uribe states (2007), they are who activate the communication system and who promote an active role in the community. Barragán (2014) highlights that the participation of the headmaster allows us to build a preventive culture. Taking the previous points into consideration, the objective of this research is to know their point of view regarding risk management (RM) inside schools. This is why we worked on a qualitative study which started by interviewing 5 public school directors. The results show us that the definition of risk management is heterogeneous. Likewise, it was identified that RM was highly influenced by societal emotional needs. It was also let to know that as directives their challenge was to find tools that helped the community get motivated, which is connected with declarations that state that the necessities were not limited to material aspects and that it is demanded from the headmaster to address interpersonal relationships. Considering the results, it is fundamental to think that the director’s risk management needs a comprehensive vision that is not only focused on the determination of specific actions associated with the management of materialistic elements.

The purpose of the research was to know characteristics of headteachers in educational establishments with academic excellence and high social and economic vulnerability in Bío-Bío Region, Chile. It was investigated some variables such as education reform in the 1990s, pedagogical leadership, school management, educational leadership ideas, professional competences, school environment, and relationship between socioeconomic status and academic results that get students. It was an empirical, field, and descriptive research with a sample of 30 headteachers who work in public educational establishments. Besides, this research worked with high vulnerability’s students, that belong to families with medium-low and low socioeconomic status. These students got good academic results in evaluations of measuring as SIMCE ( Sistema de Medición de la Calidad de la Educación), applied between 2014 and 2015. The field researcher applied a survey, based on expert judgment. On the other hand, he/she used likert-type scale. It made interviews with open questions to headtachers, teachers, students, and parents. The answers were showed through charts and boxes. Then, it was made a quantitative and descriptive analysis of the all answers given by participants of educational process. The research generated a typology of the headteacher in a vulnerable educational establishment with excellent academic results due to a style of predominant leadership, experiences in pedagogical leadership, representative actions in an efficient school management, and distinctive personal characteristic of the headteacher. In addition to this, the research shows a critic analysis of the work done by the headteachers in educational establishments with high vulnerability in which there is a dominant culture. Finally, this research proposes some professional challenges for headteachers that work in educational establishments that has high vulnerability of the students in order to decrease the social, cultural and economic inequalities.

With the publication of the Decree-Law No. 75/2008, arises the generalization to all public schools of a sole governing body, the Head Teacher. The application for this position requires the submission of a project called Intervention Project (IP). The legislation fails to fully state the purport of this document. In terms of educational policy, there is a need for a greater autonomy and a closer commitment of families and communities to the strategic leadership, so as to enable strong leaderships in schools. This research aims to understand how these changes - especially the existence of a new document (the IP) - reflected on the life of a school group. The objetives of this work are to assess the importance of the Head Teacher’s project, as well as to understand what the connection between these two documents (ESP and / or IP) is, both in terms of generation and operation. To contextualize this issue, we started with the concepts of Organization and Organizational Models, Leadership and Project; then we went on to the legal support of the ESP and IP and we offered a brief diachronic presentation of management in Portuguese state schools. The investigation was carried out by taking up the case study of a school group through both a descriptive/interpretative and a quantitative methodology. For this we used techniques such as interviews, surveys and content analysis. From the crossing of all obtained data, we highlight several aspects: the respect for the legally established procedures; the acknowledgment of a real reflection of the IP in the school group; and the identification of the agents with both projects, even though the ESP appears to be privileged in terms of identity expression of the school group.
