Full textThe present research has like general objective to understand the attitudes towards the gay femininity in homosexual men Lima. Nine male participants with homosexual orientation and a residence time in Lima for more than one year were interviewed. In the present work the qualitative method was used using the phenomenological design. This methodology elaborates the knowledge through a constructive-interpretative character of the subjective experiences of each participant. It is concluded that attitudes towards gay femininity in homosexual men were mostly negative. It was found that endodiscrimination was found in the sample investigated. However, some positive attitudes towards this femininity were reported. In addition, ambivalence was found between the affective and behavioral component of the attitude. This research will provide the starting point for further research and analysis from an individual as systemic approach to psychology, especially social psychology.

Full textThe purpose of this investigation was to explore the relation and influence between perceived HIV stigma and adherence to Highly Active Antiretroviral Treatment (TARGA) among HIV patients. Moreover, the study sought to identify the association between variables such as age, educational level, marital status, socioeconomic level, time in treatment and time of diagnosis, and the adherence to treatment and the level of perceived stigma. The participants were 70 patients from an HIV clinic between 19 and 76 years (M=40.21; DE=12.01). They were assessed with the abridged HIV Stigma Scale and the Adherence to Antiretroviral Treatment Evaluation Questionnaire (CEAT-VIH). Results suggested a significant association between perceived stigma and adherence to treatment (r= -.29, p<.05); besides, the first predicts 7 % of the adherence variability. Regarding the stigma dimensions of the instrument, “executed stigma” was significantly related to the adherence of the participants (r=-.44 p<.01), and the regression model of all the areas of stigma shows 20 % predictability over adherence to treatment. Furthermore, the age of the participants, was related to perceived stigma and the adherence to treatment; likewise, the time receiving treatment was related to the stigma dimension “concern with public attitudes about people with HIV”. No significant differences were found between other sociodemographic variables and the constructs studied in this investigation.

Full textThe following investigation explored the relation between right wing authoritarianism (RWA) and social dominance (SDO) levels with the attitudes towards transgender people among physicians as well as general people in Metropolitan Lima. The sample consisted on 213 participants whom 51% were physicians or medicine students whilst 49% were from other professional careers. In both groups the negative attitudes towards transgender people was evaluated with an instrument adapted from its original version for this context: The Transgender Attitudes and Beliefs Scale (TABS); while the measurement of the variables of political ideology was made with The Right-Wing Authoritarianism Scale and The Social Dominance Scale, both validated in south american context. Results indicated an inverse correlation between the variables of political ideology and the positive attitudes towards transgender people in the two groups; however, after deeper analysis the variables of sex and profession became relevant since women physicians showed less negative attitudes and were less authoritarian, possibly due the more egalitarian context where they unfold.

Full textThis investigation pretends to analyze the mobbing perception that homosexual men and women from Lima Metropolitana have. In order to learn about the personal experiences of the participants, the investigator developed an interview guide that reached different subjects of the studied phenomenon. The results leave in evidence lots of discriminatory behaviors that the participants, or some of their partners, had to live with in their workplaces. At the same time, the participants offered some scope on the discrimination they have been able to perceive or feel in the work centers for which they have worked through their personal experience, which has allowed to identify as a transcendental aspect in the appearance of mobbing, the visibility of their sexual orientation and / or of a gender expression that may transgress the parameters of a traditional perspective and patriarchal rigid and macho systems. This subjective experience, complemented with previous theory and academic research, allowed the investigator to analyze one of the most important and unattended issues of Peruvian society.
