AbstractThe derived categories of toric varieties admit semi-orthogonal decompositions coming from wall-crossing in GIT. We prove that these decompositions satisfy a Jordan–Hölder property: the subcategories that appear, and their multiplicities, are independent of the choices made. For Calabi–Yau toric varieties wall-crossing instead gives derived equivalences and autoequivalences, and mirror symmetry relates these to monodromy around the GKZ discriminant locus. We investigated 13 populations of the carabid subgenus Chrysocarabus in the Spanish mountains Sierra de Urbasa and Sierra de Andia. In some areas there were up to 16% hybrids between Carabus lineatus and Carabus splendens. Hybrids are best distinguished as individuals having combinations of morphological characters that are diagnostic for both species. Multivariate discriminant analysis showed a gap between the parental species, but hybrids were either C. lineatus-like or C. splendens-like. Experimentally produced hybrids lie in the same range as natural hybrids. Electrophoretic studies have i

Isozyme data collected from megagametophytes of coastal Douglas-fir (Pseudotsugamenziesii (Mirb.) Franco var. menziesii) parent trees, representing 22 southwest Oregon breeding zones, were analyzed by multivariate techniques to describe the distribution of genotypic variation among and within breeding zones and to relate genotypic and environmental variation. Data entered were mean haploid genotype scores obtained by averaging two haploid genotype scores from each parent tree. Haploid genotype scores were created from 27-locus haploid genotypes of two megagametophytes collected from each of 12

Objective Gastrointestinal cancer is the leading cause of cancer-related death worldwide. The aim of this study was to verify whether the genotype of six short tandem repeat (STR) loci including AR, Bat-25, D5S346, ER1, ER2, and FGA is associated with the risk of gastric cancer (GC) and colorectal cancer (CRC) and to develop a model that allows early diagnosis and prediction of inherited genomic susceptibility to GC and CRC. Methods Alleles of six STR loci were determined using the peripheral blood of six colon cancer patients, five rectal cancer patients, eight GC patients, and 30 healthy con

Ongoing controversy over the identification of mesoamerican centers as the locus for specialized production of stone tools is addressed by reference to a consumer locality in the eastern Maya Lowlands. Lithic data from Pulltrouser Swamp are used to shed light on the production intensity and scale of a distribution system centered at Colha, Belize. Debitage analyses of technological attributes, use wear, and metric dimensions contrast two contexts of lithic procurement at Pulltrouser Swamp: direct procurement of raw material and indirect procurement of finished tools. Allozyme variation of 89 old memorial trees of Ginkgobiloba L. in western Japan were investigated. For 12 loci from 10 enzyme systems, the percentage of polymorphic loci (95% level), the number of alleles per locus, and the observed heterozygosity were 75.0%, 2.5, and 0.234, respectively. The variation of this species is relatively high in comparison with other gymnosperms. Genetic relationships between four regions (Kansai, Shikoku, North Kyushu, and South Kyushu) were investigated by using two multivariate procedures. Based on the importance and contribution of entrepreneurship in economic development, it is vital to know that what underlying factors may promote the spirit of entrepreneurship? The entrepreneurship literature suggests two kinds of broader influencers or predictors for entrepreneurs and non-entrepreneurs “nature” and “nurture”. In this study “nature” includes the psychological or personality related factors; self-confidence, locus of control, risk-taking propensity and trust levels. The “nurture” is explained by the effects from society in general and friends and family in particular. To answ
