Axelsson, Karin. "Interpreting and discussing literary texts : A study on literary group discussions." Thesis, Växjö University, School of Humanities, 2006. http://urn.kb.se/resolve?urn=urn:nbn:se:vxu:diva-1934.

Abstract:
<p>Reading and understanding literature does not necessarily have to be an individual act. The aim of this essay is to investigate what happens when six students read a text by Kazuo Ishiguro A Family Supper and then discuss it in a communicative situation. The essay bases its ideas on the sociocultural theory and the reader-response theory. The sociocultural perspective argues that people develop and progress during social interaction, moreover by communicating with other people and by being inspired and subsequently educated through taking part in different social contexts. My idea with this essay is to observe a literary discussion in a group. The observation emphasizes both the individual contribution to the literary discussion and the function of the group. By analyzing the participation of the individual students, I reached the conclusion that the students deal with literature in many different ways. Some focus only on the text and the plot, others discuss social issues in connection to the text and some only respond to the others’ arguments. When studying the group, I looked at the balance in the group, the turn taking between the members and the level of participation. The reader-response theory bases its idea on the reader and the text and the fact that they are connected in a mutual transaction. Every reader brings his or her experiences to the understanding of the text and thereby a text can have multiple alternative interpretations considering the amount of readers. The analysis section in this essay consists of several parts, such as an individual reflection, a group discussion and an individual evaluation.</p>

Olin, Teresa Clare. "Discussing Death with Young Children." CSUSB ScholarWorks, 2016. https://scholarworks.lib.csusb.edu/etd/323.

Full text
Abstract:
Research has shown that young children have some understandings of death. However, adults are hesitant (or even avoidant) to discuss death with young children for fear that they will scare them, or they are not sure what to tell them. Sessions were part of this project, educating adults in a child’s development and how that development affects what young children understand about death. The three sessions, completed over two weeks, included three topics including anxieties the adult may have about death, cognitive and emotional development of the young child, and the adult’s role in discussing death with young children. Participants completed a pre- and post-test. Results indicated that adults felt more comfortable discussing the death of a person with a young child, as well as feeling less avoidant of having those discussions.

Siddiqi, Aman. "A Clinical Guide to Discussing Prejudice Against Men." Thesis, The Chicago School of Professional Psychology, 2022. http://pqdtopen.proquest.com/#viewpdf?dispub=28256318.

Full text
Abstract:
Prejudice against men may result in emotional distress, interpersonal conflict, and impairments in a man’s view-of-self. It can be a contributing factor for explaining increased substance use and suicide by men, as well as rates of violence against men. Awareness of the prejudices men may face allows clinicians to form better alliances with their clients by helping them understand the feelings and perspectives of men who experience various forms of prejudice. This dissertation begins with an overview of the general causes of prejudice and a summary of the mechanisms that maintain a prejudice’s social acceptability. It then provides a taxonomy of different forms of the prejudices men face, as well as the mechanisms that maintain the social acceptability of prejudice against men. Finally, it describes examples of prejudice against men, applying the taxonomy put forth in this dissertation.

Robinson, Andrew Meredith Lewin. "Discussing the evidence : small group work in the history class." Thesis, Rhodes University, 1988. http://hdl.handle.net/10962/d1004588.

Full text
Abstract:
This is a small-scale research study on the discovery method of teaching history through the medium of small-group discussion. The study begins with a brief outline of the theoretical background to these topics, as well as of some of the extant research in the field. The class selected for the study is the standard seven class of a boys' high school. After the researcher has instructed the whole standard in an historical area which is unfamiliar to the pupils, twelve groups of three each are selected and withdrawn from the rest of the class, one group at a time. These thirty-six pupils become the "experimental" group; the rest of the pupils become the "control" group . The groups are selected according to different intellectual criteria and presented with stimulus material of one of three kinds, which is intended to aid them in their discourse. Each group is given the same set of three questions to discuss and, without further assistance by the researcher, the discussion takes place. This is recorded on audio-tape. After all the group discussions have been recorded, an assessment test is given to the whole standard, both experimental and control pupils. At the end of the school term a compulsory examination question is inserted in the history examination. The statistical data forthcoming from these assessments are correlated and the results analysed. Meanwhile, transcripts of all the group discussions have been made and these are analysed on a qualitative basis in terms of the groups' intellectual composition and according to the type of stimulus material used, and the results are recorded. The concept of "leaderless" groups is briefly discussed in the light of the dealings of the various groups in the study. The researcher finally feels justified in concluding that small groups are an ideal medium for the handling of evidence- based learning in history. He also has certain observations to make on the performance of groups of mixed (as opposed to homogeneous) ability as well as on the success of certain types of stimulus material towards initiating profitable discussion.

Bajor, William J. "Discussing 'human rights' : an anthropological exposition on 'human rights' discourse." Thesis, University of St Andrews, 1997. http://hdl.handle.net/10023/15382.

Full text
Abstract:
This thesis examines how the displaced Sudanese in Egypt, Kenya, and the United Kingdom discuss the topic of "Human Rights". Whereas many studies on "Human Rights" are primarily concerned with the opinions of outsiders, an attempt is made here to provide an alternative perspective in that the focus of this dissertation is on how the displaced Sudanese, themselves, discuss "Human Rights" in view of their situation as exiles. The thesis begins by tracing the historical evolution of the 'Western' concept of "Human Rights" and investigating the historical relationship between Anthropology and "Human Rights". Attention is paid to the role of the doctrine of "cultural relativism" in the discipline of Anthropology. After briefly looking at Sudan's geographical and social makeup, I explain the difficulties I encountered as an independent scholar conducting research on "Human Rights" and Sudan. This is followed by descriptions of the fieldwork locations. What comes next is the heart and soul of the thesis. After giving brief descriptions of the interviewees, 1 analyse how the interviews were conducted and explain how the issue of "Politics" dominated practically every discussion with the interviewees. Next, excerpts from nineteen interviews are presented for the reader to get acquainted with the conversations between the Interviewees and myself. Finally, an examination is made of how "Human Rights" is employed as a manipulative device (or tool) by the interviewees. This is essentially the crux of the study. The chief aim of the thesis is to present various ways the notion of "Human Rights" can be (and is) interpreted and utilised by the displaced Sudanese in the context of their own circumstances as exiles.

Abstract:
This paper describes a research through design project for reducing student’s food waste in a Swedish high school canteen. It was found that the design outcome is influenced by how a designer approaches the chosen problem space of sustainability. Building only on the existing perspectives of eco-feedback technologies and persuasive frameworks within interaction design, immensely constrains the role interaction design could take in working with sustainability issues. The complexities of sustainability related problems should be seen as a rich opportunity space to approach by design. Ethnographic research methods should be used when designing for sustainability. Found strengths of interaction design within design for sustainability were the data measurement of consumption and change. Together with the communication possibilities of digital and connected devices. The design outcome became a digital tool for kitchen staff to use when evaluating the lunch menu. The research also led to four suggestions for future design projects.

Abstract:
<p>This paper deals with the economic development of Tanzania and especially with the development of the smallholders. My aim is to study whether the Structural Adjustment Programmes have helped to facilitate growth in the agricultural and export-sector and if the reforms implemented through the programmes have made agricultural specialization easier and improved the economic situation for the smallholders.</p><p>In this paper, I will discuss that there might be significant limitations in the favours received due to SAP and that the Structural Adjustment Programmes because of this may not be the model for agricultural development as it is claimed by the initiators; the World Bank and the IMF. On the contrary, I present the idea that SAP can be said to have failed in its undertaking and that the reforms might not be suitable for the smallholder sector. I will in the paper argue that SAP has not facilitated an agricultural specialization and that this has much to do with the increase of production costs that the smallholders have been faced with after the reforms. And because of this it could be argued that the Structural Adjustment Programmes might not be an appropriate development strategy for Tanzania, if the country is to achieve growth through specialization. Consequently, there might be reason to believe that the reforms not are overall suitable for the Tanzanian development, considering that a growth within the agricultural smallholder sector is crucial for Tanzania to achieve a long term economic growth.</p>

Abstract:
This qualitative, interpretive and naturalistic classroom research was oriented by the principles of Exploratory Practice (Allwright & Miller, 2001; Allwright, 2003) and conceptualized as work for understanding. Such collective work was performed by a teacher and his students from the 7th grade, as a way of promoting practitioner reflection on the use of the English language textbook in their classroom. Achieving better understanding – and following from that, an improvement of the quality of classroom life – by fostering that reflection through potentially exploitable pedagogic activities and improving the quality of classroom life is the purpose of this study. The results of the activities performed by the students were analyzed based on notions related to classroom interaction (van Lier, 1988; Vygotsky, 1978; Allwright and Bailey, 2004), quality of classroom life (Gieve & Miller, 2006), the textbook (Souza, 1999) and beliefs (Araújo, 2006; Barcelos, 2004; Richards & Lockhart, 1994). The understandings reached by the teacher-researcher show that the students see the book as a learning opportunity only if there is an appropriate working atmosphere in the classroom. The students’ discourse uncovers an explicit concern with the teacher and has helped us become more aware of the classroom lives that we lead together and of our pedagogic work with the book. The principles of Exploratory Practice resonate in the students’ productions.

Halverson, Kristin. "Physiological Cruelty? : Discussing and Developing Vivisection in Great Britain, 1875-1901." Thesis, Södertörns högskola, Institutionen för historia och samtidsstudier, 2016. http://urn.kb.se/resolve?urn=urn:nbn:se:sh:diva-30336.

Abstract:
This thesis examines the development of vivisection as a method of physiological research between 1875 and 1901 in Great Britain, by examining some of the arguments, discussions, and ideas put forth by physiologists for the utilisation of vivisection in their research. Because this study operates within the context of medical history, questions of legitimacy, scientific development, and professional image are lifted. The development of vivisection during this period took place with a larger shift in scientific practice playing out in the background, where experimentalism began overtaking the previously more analytical approach to medicine and the sciences. The First Royal Commission on Vivisection in 1875 marks the beginning of this study, and the discussions within allow for a more nuanced picture of the professional debates on the practice, where both proponents and sceptics at times found common ground. Technological and societal aspects were central to much of the argumentation for the further development of vivisection, with technology easing the practical aspects of the method, and the concept of the "gentleman" allowing British "vivisectors" to argue against charges of cruelty, pointing rather to continental schools of physiology as the culprits, whilst lifting the "humanity" behind animal experimentation in Great Britain. In conjunction with pointing out the importance of the method for the development of medical science, the Cruelty to Animals Act and the lobbying on behalf of the professional journals British Medical Journal and The Lancet helped legitimise the practice in Great Britain. The Act allowed vivisection under set circumstances, and the two journals served as megaphones for scientific development on behalf of vivisection, at times even openly criticising sceptical opinions. At the same time, some saw experimental research through vivisection as merely one aspect of medical practice. One which needed to gain foothold in order to help advance medical science for the larger benefit of all humanity.

Additional, the present statute to the distinquish of power and responsibility is not definitely clear. So that the supervision of quality of construction becomes formulized. Therefore, this thesis was considered the advantage in accordance with the system of structural inspection of America, the system of intermediate inspection of Japan and the system of inspection of China mainland to make up the dificiency of present system of constructive inspection in Taiwan. This thesis tried to drow up the improved system, in place of present system that doesn’t have obvious efficiency. Moreover, by the system dynamics method, I separately build the model of present system and improved system of constructive inspection .Through the course that model is verificated, the result finds out that if we perform the improved system of contructive inspection, it shall be helpful to rise the quality of construction and the safety of buildings.

Abstract:
碩士<br>國立臺灣大學<br>生物產業傳播暨發展學研究所<br>104<br>The article is aimed to exam community supported agriculture (CSA) development in contemporary Taiwan indigenous tribes, preliminarily exploring the meaning of tribal embeddedness. The article adopts Mark Granovetter’s (1985) social embddedness theory and CSA related concepts, combining Taiwan indigenous tribal development related literature as the basic analysis framework to exam the meaning of tribal CSA development for indigenous tribes. We choose five tribal CSAs as examples, intervewing core propellents and indigenous producers. The article indicates that contemporary tribal CSAs try to target on both tribal economic development and social development. The implication of social embeddedness is tribal problems solving – oriented. The process of embedding also possesses the meaning of enhancing tribal social solidarity. However, it is still difficult to figure out effective ways to draw indigenous young people back to hometown. The implication of cultural embeddedness is trying to merge indigenous people’s culture and daily life, simultaneously enhancing indigenous people’s cultural identity. Yet, we seldom observe any traditional culture innovation. The implication of natural embeddedness is about adopting and promoting natural or organic farming. For indigenous producer, it is a process of reeducation. More important, it highlights an intimate relationship with traditional farming knowledge and reembeddeds agricultural production into natural environment. Besides, the article finds out that tribal CSA and indigenous tribe holds a reciprocal relationship with each other. The article also compares and discusses the differences between tribal and Han propellents of CSA. The article shows that Han propellents are tribal problems solving or organic farming developing– oriented. However, tribal propellents focus on developing tribal industries. More over, in the discussion of food sovereignty issue, the article assumes that to indigenous people, the diversity produce of tribal CSA is also considered as food. To ensure a stable development, it is essential to develop cash crops that match the needs of Hans consumers. The contribution of the article is to propose the meaning of tribal embeddedness in CSA development, encouraging the interaction and conversation of CSA between tribal and Western context. In addition, it provides the foundation to exam CSA development nowadays and in the future, realizing the challenges and chances of tribal CSA development.

Abstract:
碩士<br>國立中正大學<br>財經法律學系碩士在職專班<br>105<br>The major question is what the relationship it is between the factual causation and the criminal code. Can the criminal code attribute culpability on the defendant by constructing its normative attribution theory or it can only reach reasonable judgment by examining the causality of each event? This thesis has reached four conclusions. First, we need to consider the objective facts before we comprehend the subjective levels such as intent or negligence. Second, we need to define the feature of any behavior first in order to avoid the fallacy of reversing cause and effect. Third, we need to focus on the equifinality which means any event can have multiple causes to bring about effects and consider the connection between related causes. Fourth, any culpable behavior has to meet the elements of the criminal code. If not, it is innocent. This thesis adopts the approach of causal attribution theory, applying necessary or sufficient conditions to explain the process of events, establishing some applicable principles to judge the act and harm. Keywords: factual causation, causality, necessary conditions, sufficient conditions, causal attribution theory.

Chinese Culture University Instructing:Dr. Kuen – Cherng Shue. Du. Meei –Er Ueng Master Candidate:Chu Chi-Hsu Date:2007, June Abstract All creatures naturally employ a variety of corresponding gesture during the flow of their lives. The transition of human society also alters its aesthetic value. Facing the coming of the new era, we realize that aestheticism has its importance and merits while the abundance and the profundity of life serve as the basis of aesthetic. It is from the dialectic from different space-timed perspective and cultural backgrounds that we deduce where eventually the real and unreal belong. Science pursues truth while art pursues beauty. We have confronted many aesthetic issues during my painting creations and this research is going to start with theory and practice, dividing into basic discussion, main body and the result, which includes eight chapters as follows. First, the basic discussion: Chapter one discusses the reason and the goal of the writer who engaged in painting on this topic and a sketch of the research method and range and limitation. Chapter two is the review of documents which generalize the study and the meaning of aesthetic, the development of Chinese and western aesthetic, the analysis of aesthetic and the idea of beauty and ugliness. Second, the main body: In Chapter three” The Transition of Mass Aesthetic” we discuss the transition of aesthetic and its factors from the female figure in east and west and their differences in culture. Chapter four” The Standard of the Female Figure” discusses the causes that affect the aesthetic judgment from different categories. Chapter five “Beauty Myth—the Beauty and Sorrow of the Female Figure” discusses mass aesthetic through the supermodel phenomenon. Chapter six “Independent Creation Theory” discusses the east-west painting styles and aesthetic attitude that affected the writer emphasizing Cezanne and post-cubism on his work. Third, the result: Chapter seven “Works Appreciation” discovers sophisticated and diverse aesthetic experiences through past and present, time and space and accomplishes works by reaching inner spirit and probes into the forms and fundamental elements in creation. Chapter eight “Conclusion” disserts what have been learned and the self-criticism and self-expect for ourselves. Key words: supermodel phenomenon, figure beauty, mass culture, aesthetic

All the cases shown in the books are making people both smiling and thinking simultaneously. In the books, we can see the author’s eager anticipation towards educational policies, regulation, personnel and concepts. The contents of the books are actually full of laughter replacing the scream of discontent. In the meantime, they also capture the spirit of kids campus culture and naturally guide the adult reader into the world of kids’ lives. Then the adults can realize kids'' thinking and behavior and also intend to comment the world of their own as to what they consider successful philosophy and the standard of right and wrong from the kids viewpoint. In this research, campus events can be categorized into the followings: 1. The analysis of communication among teachers and students. 2.The interaction among student peers. 3.The various opinions of communication among parents and children.

Abstract:
碩士<br>輔仁大學<br>法律學系<br>106<br>Taiwan’s criminal law has provisions on deprivation of public rights in article 36 and 37. After we modify some criminal law’s articles in 2005,it has a lot of question that we need to discuss, like the requirements for depriving people’s public rights、the sentence of deprivation of public rights 、whether we need to set system to restore public rights or not, and so on. This paper will review the disadvantage of the system of deprivation of public rights in our criminal law by following point of view:1. The basic rights of the people protected by Constitution. 2. The purpose of penalty. 3. The criminal law’s basic principle. 4. To compare with other similar provisions. Besides, this paper will compare the system of deprivation of public rights in our criminal law with Germany、America and Japan’s law to find out what’s different in these country’s regulation. At last, reference to the provisions of foreign law and submit this paper’s advice to improve the disadvantage of the system of deprivation of public rights in our current criminal law .

Therefore, at the national level of decision-making cycle, the above-mentioned goals, ability, strategy, risk is the decision-makers must consider the factors. These factors and variables to each other, such as the goal is too large or shrunk, the capacity of excessive or inadequate, misplaced or disorder strategy, the need to have different risks. Risk management experts said: "The 21st century is the greatest risk of risk do not know what is." Extent of the global information technology has become more sophisticated, and thus form a pattern of unprecedented globalization, regardless of the operation of the government or general business activities, are faced with different from the rate of change in the past. Unknown how the changes may make the preparations for the arrival time and space race, risk management capability is the key to victory or defeat! A lot of professional risk assessment model, most of which can be divided into quantitative type of analysis (Quantitative Analysis), Department of hazards by the nature of identification, risk response assessment, damage assessment and other steps to calculate the probability of the value of a risk as the risk estimates to determine the basis. This article is the concept of management according to the battlefield, depending on the desired characteristics of the battlefield, the integration of the six categories of risk assessment battlefield area (indirect impact on the battlefield personnel, military personnel, battlefield, battlefield environmental safety, cost effectiveness, command regulations, the task to achieve) and the cost of the concept of to A, B, C and three occurred in the possibility of high, medium and low risk level of the three concepts of risk events battlefield damage assessment, an attempt by the use of specialized analytical model, to enhance the scope of the assessment with a view to a more realistic response entities and by the six major areas of clear analysis and classification, to the battlefield more systematic risk, but also more predictable in advance and can be more beneficial to take pre-emptive measures to help under the battlefield fighting the risk of different database complete the establishment. Abstract:
碩士<br>國立中央大學<br>土木工程研究所<br>95<br>According to the experimental principle of thermal probe method, the research adopted the finite element analysis (ABAQUS), it carried on the numerical simulation with rational analysis condition and appropriate materal parameters. Through the comparison with theoretical solution, verify the accuracy and suitability of numerical model. Then, some factors of thermal probe method are investigated, including the relative size of the specimen, clearance, type of thermal grease, and inputting the voltage etc., and cooperate with the result of the experiment by Chang(2006) to inquire into the accurate value. Finally, it carried on parameter research and numerical simulation of non-isotropic rock, in order to take them into account for test subsequently. The numerical result showed that the aspect ratio of the specimen up to 12.5, avoid the influence of boundary effect. If clearance increases, it will underestimate thermal conductivity of the specimen. According to the contour plot, the range of heat transfer will reduce obviously. So numerical result indicated that it need to pack the appropriate thermal grease. The respect of using thermal grease, it should be consider the thermal conductivity of the specimen, not pack too bad to influence the heat transmission. The value of inputting voltage will not influence the thermal conductivity of the specimen. The respect of parameter research showed that the specific heat or density of heat source material causes heavy influence on the range of 0~100 seconds in temperature rise curve. So it suggested to adopt the straight line section after 100 seconds to inquired into thermal conductivity. Under the same thermal resistivity, if the thickness of interface is thicker to pack higher thermal conductivity of grease, it will improve thermal conductivity of the specimen. The numerical result of non-isotropic rock showed that the numerical simulation verifies two-phase layered rock can be equivalent to transversely isotropic rock. The discussion of transversely isotropic rock at anisotropic ratio, it can find that numerical solution well agreed with theoretical solution of Laplace’s equation.

Abstract:
碩士<br>國立臺灣大學<br>資訊網路與多媒體研究所<br>97<br>According to the progress of technology, Underwater Sensor Networks (UWSNs), which becomes attractive recently, provides the chance for human to explore more about the ocean. In such low bandwidth environment, using limited bandwidth more suitable is very important. This paper addresses the max-min fairness problem in UWSNs. The characteristic of long propagation delay in UWSNs make the new challenge for MAC protocol designs, called Spatial-Temporal Uncertainty. The links can exploit the spatial-temporal uncertainty to improve the temporal reuse of a bandwidth allocation. Thus, the max-min fairness rate derived by the approach for terrestrial scenarios can not work in UWSNs. To eliminate the spatial-temporal uncertainty, we propose Time Extended Conflict Graph (TECG) to represent the conflict relationship under spatial-temporal uncertainty. We also extend the proposed algorithm to provide end-to-end fairness assignment for multi-hop flows. Finally, a comprehensive study is presented and our simulation results show that our proposed max-min fairness solution can perform better than existing solutions for terrestrial wireless networks in term of the network throughput and fairness.

Abstract:
The purpose of this study was to examine how adult students in a reading class offered in a college-affiliated ESL program responded to The Great Gatsby (Fitzgerald, 1925; GG, afterwards) in small group book discussion sessions over eight weeks, and how they perceived their reading and discussing experiences. Analysis of students' literary responses demonstrated students' strategies in constructing textual meaning and transformation of their meaning-making strategies across time. Students in this study made sense of the text by making connections between the textual world and the text, themselves, and the world around them. Students also brought into discussion their reading experiences and a critical approach to the text. The percentage of comments devoted to each response category illustrated the changes in the focus of discussion and meaning making strategies across time. Taking up the novel, initially students spent more time discussing the historical context of the text and formulating connections with themselves and the world. Students were self-conscious about their reading difficulties. Further along in their reading, as they derived more information from the text, their discussion became more text-centered. Inferential comments and emotional reactions became more frequent elements in discussion, and talk about the reading experience itself and contextual information about the text diminished. Perceptions expressed about their reading experience of the literary text in their second language were predominantly about the enjoyment of reading and challenges and rewards in terms of: 1) language challenges, 2) culture challenges, and 3) literary challenges. Analysis of students' perceptions of their experiences in literary discussion as they read GG revealed their enjoyment of discussions and appreciation of how literary discussion had enriched their interpretation of the novel by providing opportunities for: 1) checking up on the textual information, 2) exchanging opinions, and 3) building a sense of learning community.<br>text

碩士<br>中國文化大學<br>藝術研究所美術組碩士在職專班<br>95<br>I have been studying painting for four years. I try to find out drawing manifestation and technique. After entering Graduate School of Art, Chinese Culture University, I contact the Post-Cubism, and comprehend that it contains the infinite illusion space in the nature. My mind is palpitated profoundly. I often follow my husband who especially cherishes the sea to visit the fishing port at the seashore and track down the recollection of his childhood together with him. There are sailing ship shadow, mast, boat side, anchor sound…at the ports. All of the images of the boats ripple constantly in my mind, and they inspire me with the creative theme by the union of style of the Post-Cubism and natural scenery of the fishing port ships and so on. At the same time, to assist the creation, I also borrow many famous paintings of ships, which also becomes one of the important origins of inspiration. This research paper has six chapters as following: Chapter 1 Introduction:The purposes, motives, approaches, scope and limit of the creation Chapter 2 The influence the modern Western world arts brings to the Post-Cubism on the performance form: (1) Cubism (2) Futurism (3) The connection of Post-Cubism with Cubism and Futurism Chapter 3 The ideas of self-creation: (1) Fourth dimension - beauty is the worldwide recognition (2) Response to the nature (3) Application of perspective principle (4) To practice and experience self-creation Chapter 4 The form and content of creation Chapter 5 Analysis of the paintings of Ai Chu Kao. Chapter 6 Self-examination and prospects of creation From drawing, I realized the truth of maintaining good health and surmounted the boundary of the technique. Drawing is not only about functional consciousness but also spiritual satisfaction. In other words, we do not just “look at” those paintings but understand and appreciate them by our minds and souls. In the future, I hope to become an artist but not an artisan, and to be able to wield a brush freely.

Abstract:
碩士<br>中華大學<br>科技管理研究所<br>92<br>Discussing Political Warfare Organization from the Theory of Organizational Change Student: Zuo-Hwa Fan Advisor: Dr. Yu-Cheng Lee Abstract Reengineering is now one of the popular approaches that an organization has implemented to deal with change issues. As the overall political & economic systems of the nation have been changed, the ROC military political warfare organization is carrying out the critical change to cope with the reengineering program of national defense. The organizational reengineering of the political warfare system is regarded as a continuously evolved process of an organism. It aims to have an organization achieve the optimal effectiveness. The reengineering program has been started mostly because of its feedback to the internal external challenges. In addition , it’s attempt to gradually adjust and renew the solutions to problems of skills , structures , culture , mission and personnel , which have been out of date , by focusing on the integration of the organizational structure , the adjustment of the function , the reduction in employment and the improvement of performance process . As change is concerned, legislative essence of the National Defense Two Law is included. Moreover, the overall evaluation of reengineering is also included in addition to the feedback to what is related to newcomers, organizational simplification that emphasizes the adjustment to environmental change and the strategies of promoting efficiency. Since the military was started at Whampoa , the political warfare system have been established to perform political mission . Since Eastern Expedition, Northern Expedition, War against Communists, War of Resistance against Japan, Suppress Rebels and moving to Taiwan, its organizational system, performance and mission have been adjusted and modified. In spite of the difference, its basic essence and mission have been consistent. In view of the political warfare organization that has been changed, its system has been adjusted to a degree as the nation faces change. White a new era comes and the system of national defense comes to a new stage, the political warfare organization must be developed on the basis of legislation, profession, knowledge and information. Being legislation, it has to cope with new challenges. Especially. The overall efficiency of the troops and the professional ability of the staff should be promoted to cope with the legislative requirement of the officers’ leading, power in alignment with responsibility and division of labor after the National Defense Two Law is implemented and the project of simplification is renewed, At present, the professional performance of the political warfare division goes down below the standard gradually to meet the cut-down budget of national defense and support the plan of modernization , as the development is observed . From the point of facts, this is what the organization will be in the future. That is, it exists only to meet the requirement of mission by stage. Besides, the limitations of environmental change that is inevitable, order fulfillment for obedience and standard of actualized legislation reduce the influence of its performance. Whenever change comes, the morale and power go down. At this stage, organizational reengineering of the political warfare system is under a progression of implementation. Though it’s being implemented systematically and sequentially, people still doubt how effectively change works. Since the difference exists in the outcome and the goal, the key factors from the related issues should be examined to see whether they’re compatible with the theoretical basis. Finding solutions is now important for the military not to be simplified. This study focuses on the theories of organizational change. It aims to explore and make a diagnosis of the controversial issue about organizational reengineering of the ROC military. From Simplification Project to the National Defense Two Law are put into force, it includes the introduction of related theories of relative effectiveness of what change is and how change can be carried out by steps. Also, Delphi Method is applied to analyze and integrate the experts’ opinions to reinforce the arguments. In the end, seven statements are concluded as suggestions to promote academic value, In addition, it’s expected that the military can succeed in organizational change so that the political warfare system can be maturer and stay long.
