To establish the prevalence of diseases in sheep flocks in North-east Scotland responsive to the application of preventative measures which may be incorporated in flock management plans. A survey of a sample of commercial sheep flocks was carried out to ascertain management and marketing practices. A critical assessment was made of the 'Flock Diary' 'Detailed' and 'Daily' Lambing Diaries produced by the Meat and Livestock Commission and their use. Abstract :Bluetongue (BT) is a vector-borne infectious disease primarily transmitted to even- toed ungulates by the bite of several Culicoides species. The global distribution of BT can be attributed to the ubiquity of its vectors and its rapid spread, likely to the enhancement of human activities (intensification of animal production, trans- port, changing habitat). Foram pesquisados os arquivos do Setor de Patologia Veterinária da Universidade Federal do Rio Grande do Sul e revisados os diagnósticos de causa morte de ovinos realizados entre os anos de 2002 a 2012. No período estudado foram realizados 53.988 exames de animais domésticos e silvestres. Desses, 12.888 correspondiam a necropsias e 41.100 a exames histopatológicos realizados em materiais enviados por veterinários. Quarenta e nove necropsias e 230 casos de exames histopatológicos em ovinos correspondiam a experimentos e, portanto, foram excluídos do estudo. Foram excluídos também os 37 casos de
