Background Cardiovascular disease is a leading cause of mortality and morbidity worldwide. Blood pressure is the single, most important risk factor for cardiovascular disease; nearly two-thirds of all strokes and approximately half of all ischaemic heart disease events are attributable to non-optimal blood pressure. The evidence from individual randomised trials of blood pressure lowering regimens suggests that that protection from major cardiovascular events can be achieved by lowering blood pressure, even among those with so-called ‘normal’ blood pressures. Abstract:

Standard treatments are available when the blockage is proximal and focal, however when distal and diffuse the same type of the treatment options are not beneficial due to the diseased locations. Restoration of blood flow and further salvaging of the limb in these patients can occur in a retrograde manner through the venous system, called retroperfusion or arteriovenous reversal. Retroperfusion has been explored over the last century, where early side

This is witnessed by the high number of males who have fallen victim to this scourge. However, with rapid changes in today’s societies, the disease has increasingly become a public health concern among women also. This study aimed to explore rural women’s perspectives of CVD in Gwanda South Rural District. The study was guided by a feminist perspective where theories of gender such as social construction feminism, intersectionality and standpoint

Abstract:
Micromotors are recognized as promising candidates for untethered micromanipulation and targeted cargo transport. Their future application is, however, hindered by the low efficiency of drug encapsulation and their poor adaptability in physiological conditions. To address these challenges, one potential solution is to incorporate micromotors with biological materials as the combination of functional biological entities and smart artificial parts represents a manipulable and biologically friendly approach. This dissertation focuses on the development of custom-designed micromotors combined

However, the precise contribution of coronary PVAT-derived factors to the initiation and progression of coronary vascular dysfunction remains ill defined. Accordingly, this investigation was designed to delineate the mechanisms by which PVAT-derived factors influence obesity-induced coronary smooth muscle dysfunction. Indiana University-Purdue University Indianapolis (IUPUI)
Recent advancements in the management of systemic glucose regulation in obesity/T2DM include drug therapies designed to utilize components of the incretin system specifically related to glucagon-like peptide 1 (GLP-1). More recently, GLP-1 has been investigated for potential cardioprotective effects. Several investigations have revealed that acute/sub-acute intravenous administration of GLP-1 significantly reduces myocardial infarct size following ischemia/reperfusion injury and improves cardiac contractile function in the settings o
