Abstract:
In fiber optic communication systems, the main linear phenomenon that causes optical pulse broadening is called dispersion, which limits the transmission data rate and distance. The principle nonlinear effect, called self-phase modulation, can also limit the system performance by causing spectral broadening. Hence, to achieve the optimal system performance, high data rate and low bandwidth occupancy, those effects must be overcome or compensated. In a nonlinear dispersive fiber, properties of a transmitting pulse: width, chirp, and spectra, are changed along the way and are complicated to p

A digital filter is a system or a device that modifies a signal. This is an essential feature in digital communication. Using optical fibers in the communication has various advantages like higher bandwidth and distance capability over copper wires. However, at high-rate transmission, chromatic dispersion arises as a problem to be relieved in an optical communication system. Therefore, it is necessary to have a filter that compensates chromatic dispersion. In this thesis, we introduce the implementation of a new architecture of the filter and compare it with a previously proposed architecture.

Thesis is divided into two parts. The first part is written rather in theoretical way. It deals with general formation of the dispersion mathematically and verbally. It focuses on the chromatic and polarization mode dispersion. Different types of optical fibers for category G.65X are mentioned as well in connection with the ITU-T. Further attention is drawn first to compensation and then the measurement both of the mentioned dispersions. The thesis describes also analyzers and their main features. The second part is devoted to practical measurements of polarization mode dispersion. In the begi

This diploma thesis deals with analysis of current diagnostic methods of optical networks, and it is focused on optical fiber dispersion in singlemode fibers. The work starts with a describtion chromatic dispersion and polarization mode dispersion, causes of and thein influence on the transmitted signal at the beginning. There are set out principles and their appropriate use in the list of measuring methods. Furthermore, the work are given the current possibilities for compensation above dispersions. The sixth chapter deals with the measurements and simulations of real routes in the OptiSystem

The work deals with dispersive effects of single mode fibers. We learn about the chromatic dispersion, the main attention is paid to the Polarization Mode Dispersion. We clarify the root cause origin of the Polarization Mode Dispersion describing parameters and its effect on transmitted data. Further on, the works dedicates to measure methods of the Polarization Mode Dispersion which is the interferometric method or the POTDR method. We explain the ways of the PMD removal at contemporary optic routes and options of PMD compensation by using compensators of various types. There is also mentione

Abstract:
This dissertation develops an unclocked receiver analog decision-feedback equalizer (ADFE) circuit architecture and topology and implements the circuit in 0.18-um CMOS to enable 10-Gb/sec serial baseband data transmission over FR-4 backplane and optical fibre. The ADFE overcomes the first feedback-loop latency challenge of traditional digital and mixed-signal DFEs by separating data re-timing from equalization and also eliminates the need for clock-recovery prior to decision-feedback equalization. The ADFE enables 10-Gb/sec decision-feedback equalization using a 0.18-um CMOS process, the firs
