Abstract:

Actualmente los transistores de efecto de campo fabricados en carbono de silicio son una tecnología emergente que está ingresando al mercado de los dispositivos de potencia, debido a los superiores beneficios que presenta esta familia de semiconductores con relación al silicio. Por su amplia banda prohibida presenta varias peculiaridades de defectuosidad dentro de su estructura que afectan directamente a las características eléctricas de los dispositivos, el objetivo de este artículo es determinar el grado de defectuosidad al interno de la estructura MOS, mediante la técnica de caracterización histéresis en corriente continua, Para lograr este propósito, experimentalmente se evaluó dos familias de dispositivos MOSFETs fabricados en silicio de carbono de características eléctricas diferentes, los dispositivos evaluados pertenecen a la misma empresa. El grado de defectuosidad mostrado por cada dispositivo marca una tendencia de acuerdo con sus características eléctricas y su respectiva familia.

Abstract:

This study was conducted to investigate the correlations between social–emotional competence (SEC) and academic achievement (AA) among nursing students and to compare students’ level of each core skill of SEC (critical thinking disposition, self-directed learning, creativity, emotional intelligence, problem-solving, and collaboration) and academic achievement (clinical performance and subjective academic achievement). A cross-sectional design was adapted. Data were collected from 195 nursing students in the junior and senior years who had participated in clinical practicum from four universities in South Korea. General characteristics, levels of critical thinking disposition, self-directed learning, creativity, emotional intelligence, problem-solving, collaboration, and academic achievement were collected via self-reported questionnaire. Canonical correlation analysis was performed to evaluate the relationship between SEC and AA. The canonical correlation coefficient between SEC and AA was 0.762. Critical thinking disposition (Rs = 0.89), problem-solving (Rs = 0.86), and cooperation (Rs = 0.80) made the most important contributions to SEC. Clinical performance (Rs = 0.95) and subjective AA (Rs = 0.57) were correlated with AA. SEC should be addressed to improve the AA of nursing students. All core skills of SEC should be regularly promoted. It is particularly urgent for nursing students to improve their creativity.

Neste trabalho, analisa-se o desempenho dinâmico de dois métodos para melhorar a estabilidade de turbinas eólicas de velocidade fixa, equipadas com geradores de indução, conectadas em redes de distribuição de energia elétrica, durante contingências no sistema elétrico. O primeiro método se baseia na compensação dinâmica de potência reativa, para o qual foram utilizadas duas tecnologias: compensação via SVC (Static Var Compensator) e compensação via DSTATCOM (Distribution Static Synchronous Compensator). O segundo se baseia no controle de ângulo de passo das hélices das turbinas eólicas. O desempenho desses geradores durante curtos-circuitos trifásicos é analisado para se verificar o impacto do uso de diferentes sinais de controle nos dispositivos eletrônicos e mecânicos. De forma geral, os dispositivos de compensação dinâmica tiveram melhor desempenho quando controlados por tensão terminal, e os mecânicos, utilizando a velocidade do rotor ou uma combinação de sinais (tensão terminal e potência elétrica).

Contexto: Reducir las oscilaciones de un sistema eléctrico de potencia es necesario para mantener la estabilidad del mismo. En este trabajo se presenta una metodología para la sintonización de un controlador de oscilaciones de tipo difuso, un compensador de Volts Ampere Reactive, (VAR, por sus siglas en inglés), uno estático (Static Var Compensator, SVC, por sus siglas en inglés), y un compensador estático síncrono (Static Synchronous Compensator, STATCOM, por sus siglas en inglés), por métodos inteligentes.Método: Consiste en sintonizar un controlador de tipo difuso para amortiguar las oscilaciones de un sistema eléctrico de potencia por medio de un STATCOM o un SVC, a través de diferentes técnicas de optimización tales como: algoritmos genéticos (GA, Genetic Algorithm), optimización por enjambre de partículas (PSO, Particle Swarm Optimization) y algoritmo de optimización caótica (COA, Chaotic Optimization Algorithm).Resultados: A través de simulación se obtienen las oscilaciones en el voltaje y la velocidad de un sistema compuesto por una máquina sincróna conectada a un barraje infinito (SMIB, Single Machine Infinite Bus) antes y después de conectar un SVC y un STATCOM, ambos instalados independientemente y en diferentes condiciones de operación. Los resultados muestran las ventajas de utilizar métodos de ajuste para el controlador difuso comparados con el ajuste a ensayo y error.Conclusión: A partir de los resultados obtenidos, se comprueba la efectividad del controlador difuso utilizado en el control de oscilaciones con dispositivos Flexible AC Transmissions Systems (FACTS, por sus siglas en inglés) tanto en el SVC como en el STATCOM.

Abstract:

Abstracto Este artículo da cuenta de la mercantilización del español como lengua extranjera (ELE) en España. Empezamos presentando el marco teórico de los estudios sobre la mercantilización del lenguaje y sobre el aparato discursivo en torno al valor económico del español desarrollado en España de los 90, el cual proponemos entender como parte de un dispositivo de promoción internacional del español. A continuación, analizamos la visión del ELE en España como industria de la lengua. En concreto, mostramos que la colaboración entre instituciones públicas y entidades privadas ha conformado el sector como turismo idiomático, lo cual tiene consecuencias ideológicas (estandarización y mercantilización de la lengua) y profesionales (falta de legitimidad, precariedad laboral). Concluimos planteando una serie de cuestiones fundamentales para una visión crítica del ELE que contemple la enseñanza de español en relación con la injerencia institucional (política lingüística), las condiciones del mercado laboral, la relación entre conocimiento e interés y otras cuestiones sociales y políticas.

AbstractThe theory of salutogenesis focusses on how individuals move in the direction of health rather than illness. Within this is the concept of sense of coherence (SOC) that refers to a stable disposition which creates coping resources and a sense of health preservation. With the help of a widely validated SOC scale, a range of studies evidenced that a strong SOC was associated with psychological well-being, healthy behaviors, and good health. Although the cross-cultural nature of SOC is supported, there is limited research exploring SOC in Asian cultures. Understanding how people orient themselves toward health and leveraging this in the development of health interventions within the unique cultural context of India is necessary. The current paper will review the theory of salutogensis and SOC concept, the measurement of SOC, the relationship between SOC, chronic illnesses, and culture, concluding with suggestions for possible areas of SOC research in India.

The SOC scale (A. Antonovsky, 1987) purports to measure a disposition which engenders and enhances health but some empirical findings suggest that it is seriously contaminated with negative affectivity. In a criterion validation on 100 undergraduates at a predominantly Black university, SOC was correlated with S.E. Krug and E.F. Johns' (1986) 16PF second-order factor scores, as a broad spectrum of personality variables. The SOC-Anxiety correlation was -.52, in line with studies intimating negative affectivity; it could, however, also be interpreted in terms of its inverse, emotional stability. SOC correlated significantly with the other 4 second-order factors too. It thus measured a complex mixture of personality domains, rather than a single predominant trait.

The present study was carried out to investigate disposition kinetics of moxifloxacin following single-dose intravenous (i.v.), intramuscular (i.m.), and subcutaneous (s.c.) administration at a dose rate of 5 mg/kg of body weight (b.wt.) in goats. Plasma samples collected after treatments were analyzed for drug concentration using high-performance liquid chromatography (HPLC). After i.v. administration, distribution of the drug was rapid and wide as reflected by high steady-state volume of distribution. Drug elimination was relatively faster with a total body clearance of 0.59±0.03 L/h/kg. Following i.m. injection, the drug has shown the rapid and near-to-complete absorption with bioavailability of 98.20±3.96 per cent. The maximum plasma drug concentration (Cmax) of 1.21±0.04 μg/mL was attained at 1 h (Tmax). The drug was widely distributed as reflected by high apparent volume of distribution. The elimination half-life (t1/2β) of the drug was 6.26±0.08 h. Following s.c. administration, the drug was rapidly absorbed (Cmax: 1.16±0.02 μg/mL; tmax: 1 h) and slowly eliminated from the body. The elimination half-life and total body clearance (ClB) were 5.61±0.10 h and 0.60±0.03 L/h/kg, respectively. The bioavailability of moxifloxacin following s.c. administration was 90.44±3.96 per cent.

Abstract:

OBJETIVO: Determinar a freqüência, as causas, o sítio específico e as manifestações clínicas e laboratoriais das infecções em crianças e adolescentes após a implantação de dispositivos neurológicos (DVP) no Hospital Governador João Alves Filho (Aracaju SE). MÉTODO: Estudo prospectivo, observacional, não controlado de 50 pacientes, submetidos a DVP (58 procedimentos), no período de janeiro de 2003 a outubro de 2004. RESULTADOS: Observaram-se taxas de infecção por procedimento de 27,6%, taxas de infecção de índice cirúrgico zero, 1 e 2 de 25,7% e 30,4%, respectivamente (NNIS-CDC). A infecção de sítio cirúrgico foi a principal complicação com 50% das infecções. CONCLUSÃO: Taxa de infecção por procedimento, paciente e índice de risco cirúrgico mostraram-se elevadas. Não houve significância estatística com relação à idade, etiologia da hidrocefalia, ao tipo de procedimento (derivação primária e reinserção), tempo de internação pré-operatória, duração da cirurgia, antibioticoprofilaxia, cateter SNC prévio e índice de risco cirúrgico.

Ziel: Es wird eine Übersicht gegeben zu den biologischen, speziell molekularen Grundlagen der Opiatabhängigkeit. Methodik: Einbezogen ist eine aktuelle Literaturanalyse und Resultate eigener Untersuchungen. Ergebnisse: Opiate führen zu schwerer körperlicher und psychischer Abhängigkeit. Auf Grund von Tierexperimenten stellen sich die neuronalen Grundlagen des Suchtgeschehens wie folgt dar: Die euphorisierende Wirkung des Morphins beruht auf einer Aktivierung des so genannten basalen Vorderhirnbündels, das als cerebrale Repräsentation des Belohnungssystems angesehen wird. Für die Entstehung der Abhängigkeit dürfte neben der euphorisierenden Wirkung der Opiate vor allem ihre Eigenschaft, lang anhaltende Sensibilisierung in limbischen und mesolimbischen Hirnarealen auszulösen, verantwortlich sein. Die ersten Schritte dieses Prozesses werden durch Änderungen der Genexpression von Transkriptionsfaktoren und Neurotrophinen in limbischen Regionen vermittelt. Letztere sind eng mit der Hippokampusformation verschaltet, deren Bedeutung für Lern- und Gedächtnisvorgänge etabliert ist. Am Beispiel des Kokains wurde kürzlich berichtet, dass der Hippokampus auch für das so genannte Suchtgedächtnis und damit für die starke Rückfallneigung von abstinenten Abhängigen verantwortlich zu sein scheint. Diese Phänomene treten auch nach Morphin auf, so dass die Befunde auch für Morphin gelten dürften. Die Beteiligung des glumatergen Systems und vor allem der NMDA-Rezeptoren unterstreicht, dass ein Gedächtnisprozess abläuft. Allerdings sind nicht alle Individuen im gleichen Maße anfällig für Suchtverhalten. Es zeigte sich, dass dafür eine starke genetische Disposition existiert, die zum Teil auf Polymorphismen in den Genen der Opioidrezeptoren beruht. Schlussfolgerungen: Insgesamt stellt sich die Entwicklung der Opiatabhängigkeit, ausgehend von der entsprechenden Disposition, als kontinuierlicher Prozess dar, bei dem sich das Antwortverhalten des Gehirns auf das Suchtmittel verändert und sich dadurch verselbstständigt. Als Auslöser für den Einstieg in den Opiatkonsum, der dann diese Eigendynamik zeigt, werden oft Stresssituationen gefunden. Die enge Verbindung zwischen Stress und Opiaten wird auch unterstrichen durch die Beobachtung, dass Morphin Reaktionen des Gehirns auf Stressreize zu antagonisieren vermag.

The aim of this study was to assess the effects of the addition of sewage sludge compost (SSC) on the properties of aeolian sandy soil by measuring electric conductivity (EC),pH value,bulk density,field capacity,total N(TN),total P(TP),organic matter (OM),available N,available P and available K.Seven treatments were included in this experiment,the SSC was applied at rates of 0,2,5,10,15,20,25 kg·m-1.The results showed that the physichemical properties changed greatly with the addition of SSC to the soil. As for physical properties of the soil, bulk density decreased gradually, the field capacity increased significantly compared with CK,As for chemical properties, pH changed inapparently, the concentration of OM and other nutrients were positive correlated with SSC dosages. It was concluded that the addition of SSC could enhance the soil’s fertility and improve the soil’s physical structure,it was an effective disposition way for sewage sludge to be used as the organic fertilizer in soil.

It discussed repairing the worn engine crankshaft with chromium series metal powder-cored wire. The Mo, Mn, V, Ti metal powder and the SiC ultrafine particles, WC nanopowder added in chromium series metal powder-cored wire. That made the surfacing layer obtained high bonding strength, high hardness, and obtained high fracture toughness. The result indicated the SiC ultrafine particles/WC nanopowder could promotion the in-situ reaction in the surfacing layer, formed the dissemination strengthening, the melting strengthening and so on multi-mechanism strengthening effect. SiC and the metal matrix was not merely the mechanical bond, the partial regions were by the chemical bond. That realized in the structure continuity. And the repaired crankshaft surface wear-resisting disposition enhanced 24% than the original.

11609 Background: Outpatient PC improves ACP symptom burdens, end-of-life care transitions, and mortality thereby enhancing quality of life. Yet, the financial implications, discharge disposition, and survival benefits of early, inpatient PC compared to SOC remains less understood. Methods: Retrospective cohort analysis of ACP receiving either PC or SOC between Jan 2015-Dec 2015 (N = 810). ACP cohorts were compared for demographics, costs, disposition, and survival. Financial costs collected included: fixed (overhead expenditures, facility maintenance, hospital property); variable (patient care supplies, diagnostic/therapeutic supplies, medications); operating (fixed, variable, breaking-even costs); direct (labor, materials, commissions, piece-rate wages, manufacturing supplies); indirect (production-supervision salaries, quality control, insurance, depreciation). Univariate and multivariate analyses were completed. Results: 468 were admitted to PC and 342 to SOC. Compared with SOC, PC were more likely to be: younger (61.1±13.2 v. 62.5±13.0, p = 0.02); African American (48% v. 36%, p = 0.0045); female (50% v. 40%, p = 0.005); and have shorter length of stay (5.7±4.9 v. 6.2±6.5, p = 0.01). PC had significantly less 30-day readmissions (16% v 23%, p = 0.03) and lower costs: direct ($9,478 v. $10,416, p = 0.01); indirect ($9,538 v. $10,999, p = 0.002); fixed ($10,308 v. $12,076, p = 0.001); variable ($8,709 v. $ 9,339, p = 0.02); operating ($19,017 v. $21,416, p = 0.003).Compared with SOC, ACP receiving PC were more likely to be discharged to: home (55% v.45%, p = 0.01); healthcare facilities (e.g. skilled nursing, inpatient rehabilitation) (36.1% v. 20%, p = 0.04); and hospice (home and inpatient) (7.7% v 5.8%, p = 0.02). PC had overall greater median survival from the time of discharge (106.8±99.95 v. 73.8±61.93, p = 0.03) compared to SOC. Conclusions: Early PC results in less financial strain, greater cost savings, and improved outcomes for younger and underserved inpatient ACP. Our results provide additional evidence for policies supporting that ACP access to routine PC must become a healthcare priority.

130 Background: PC significantly enhances ACP quality of life, provides symptom control, improves transitions to end-of-life care, and mortality. However, the financial implications, discharge disposition, and survival benefits of early, inpatient PC compared to SOC remains less understood. Methods: Retrospective cohort analysis of ACP receiving either PC or SOC between Jan 2015-Dec 2015 (N=810). ACP cohorts were compared for demographics, costs, disposition, and survival. Financial costs collected included: fixed (overhead expenditures, facility maintenance, hospital property); variable (patient care supplies, diagnostic/therapeutic supplies, medications); operating (fixed, variable, breaking-even costs); direct (labor, materials, commissions, piece-rate wages, manufacturing supplies); indirect (production supervision salaries, quality control, insurance, depreciation). Univariate and multivariate analyses were completed. Results: 468 were admitted to PC and 342 to SOC. In comparison with SOC, PC were more likely to be: younger (61.1±13.2 vs. 62.5±13.0, p=0.02); African American (48% vs. 36%, p=0.0045); female (50% vs. 40%, p=0.005); and have shorter length of inpatient stay (5.7± 4.9 vs. 6.2±6.5, p=0.01). Inspirados em pressupostos teórico-metodológicos queer, nosso objetivo nesse artigo é analisar os sistemas classificatórios em psiquiatria, que reduzem transexuais e travestis a protocolos clínicos homogêneos. Ao longo das análises do CID-10, DSM-IV-TR e SOC, percebemos o quanto esses dispositivos se colocam enquanto tecnologias que expressam uma concepção normativa dos sistemas sexo-sexualidade-gênero fundamentada numa matriz binária hierarquizante, que se converte em um sistema regulador e medicalizador das experiências trans. Desta forma, apontamos para a necessidade de despatologização desses sujeitos, argumentando que os modos de vida trans não necessariamente fixam posições subjetivas ou entidades clínicas.

A considerable number of drugs and/or their metabolites are excreted by the kidneys through glomerular filtration and active renal tubule secretion via transporter proteins. Uptake transporters in the proximal tubule are part of the solute carrier (SLC) superfamily, and include the organic cation transporters (OCTs). Several studies have shown that specific genetic polymorphisms in OCTs alter drug disposition and may lead to nephrotoxicity. Multiple single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) have been reported for the OCT genes (SLC22A1, SLC22A2 and SLC22A3), which can influence the proteins’ structure and expression levels and affect their transport function. A gain-in-function mutation may lead to accumulation of drugs in renal proximal tubule cells, eventually leading to nephrotoxicity. This review illustrates the impact of genetic polymorphisms in OCTs on renal drug disposition and kidney injury, the clinical significances and how to personalize therapies to minimize the risk of drug toxicity.

No âmbito deste trabalho, pretendeu-se identificar as condições de emergência, os dispositivos e os tópicos do que chamamos o “íntimo-quotidiano” na televisão francesa, no caso da TF1 e na televisão portuguesa, no caso da SIC. Ao adoptar uma perspectiva diacrónica (1986-2000, para a TF1, 1992-2000, para a SIC) e transcultural, foi-nos possível observar como a vida privada do cidadão comum se expõe e como é codificada. Através de uma análise comparada, o nosso propósito foi o de identificar os desvios semióticos e os aspectos convergentes nessa exposição, assim como o de verificar se as representações e os discursos diferem entre as duas estações. Num mundo cada vez mais globalizado, tentámos apreender as nuances e os graus de pudor e de impudor que caracterizam estes dois universos audiovisuais.

This study investigates family background (child-centered parenting, parental socioeconomic status), school success in adolescence, and career orientation (education, stability of career line) in adulthood as antecedents of adult sense of coherence (SOC; Antonovsky, 1987a ), which has been posited to be a disposition crucial to understanding individual differences in successful coping with stress. Participants (104 men and 98 women) were drawn from the ongoing Jyväskylä Longitudinal Study of Personality and Social Development (JYLS), which was started when the participants were 8- or 9-year-old children (in 1968). Data gathered at ages 14, 27, 36, and 42 were used in this study. The results of structural equation modeling (SEM) indicated that child-centered parenting in adolescence and a stable career line in adulthood were directly associated with a high SOC at age 42. In addition, child-centered parenting, high parental socioeconomic status, and school success at age 14 were indirectly associated with adult SOC via education and stability of career line. The SEM multigroup comparison showed that the obtained associations were similar for men and women.

Dispensés d'enregistrement auprès de la SEC, les placements privés de valeurs mobilières offrent aux émetteurs l'avantage d'une plus grande flexibilité et d'un moindre coût, par rapport aux offres publiques de titres. Cet article décrit les conditions à remplir et les critères très précis dégagés par la jurisprudence américaine et la réglementation de la SEC, auxquels les émetteurs doivent se soumettre, en matière de nombre et de type d'investisseurs, d'informations à rendre publiques, etc. Dans de telles transactions, le conseil juridique doit se conformer à une procédure prédéterminée et entourer l'opération de précautions visant à conserver à l'émetteur, le privilège de l'exemption d'enregistrement. L'inconvénient principal du dispositif consiste en restrictions attachées à la revente des titres: l'investisseur s'engage à conserver les valeurs acquises pendant une période de deux ans. Cependant, la nouvelle règle 144A, adoptée par la SEC le 19 avril 1990, devrait rendre beaucoup plus souples les conditions de revente des titres et en particulier, bouleverser les conditions d'accès aux marchés financiers américains pour les émetteurs étrangers.

Objetivo Estudiar el efecto de mantener un mismo diámetro de apertura en los dedos sobre la fuerza actuante de éstos en un agarre de fuerza.Métodos Se condujo un experimento con 30 participantes (15 hombres y 15 mujeres) quienes realizaron el gesto de aprehensión en un dispositivo diseñado para mantener constante la apertura para todos los dedos en 4 diámetros diferentes.Resultados Se muestra evidencia que en un rango de accionamiento entre 0-75% de la apertura funcional, los dedos índice, corazón y anular ejercen una fuerza significativamente igual si el diámetro de apertura se mantiene constante.Conclusiones Este hallazgo permitiría reducir la exposición de los operarios de herramientas de corte a factores de riesgo de síndrome del conducto carpiano (SCC). Se sugiere que en el diseño de herramientas, la distancia de apertura para todos los dedos debe mantenerse constante durante el gesto de aprehensión.

Design/methodology/approach Describes the services provided by the investment adviser, the compensation paid, and the SEC’s other bases for enforcement, and draws conclusions for private equity fund advisers. Findings The SEC has begun pursuing transaction-based compensation paid to private equity fund advisers relating to portfolio company transactions as illegal brokerage commissions. The Commission also continues to target the adviser’s undisclosed use of client fund capital, especially in private equity funds. Originality/value Practical explanation by experienced investment management lawyer.

Background: Methotrexate (MTX) is one of the leading chemotherapeutic agents with the bestdemonstrated efficacies against childhood acute lymphoblastic leukemia (ALL). Due to the narrow therapeutic range, significant inter- and intra-patient variabilities of MTX, non-effectiveness and/or toxicity occur abruptly to cause chemotherapeutic interruption or discontinuation. The relationship between clinical outcome and the systemic concentration of MTX has been well established, making the monitoring of plasma MTX levels critical in the treatment of ALL. Besides metabolizing enzymes, multiple transporters are also involved in determining the intracellular drug levels. In this mini-review, we focused on the genetic polymorphisms of MTX-disposition related transporters and the potential association between the discussed genetic variants and MTX pharmacokinetics, efficacy, and toxicity in the context of MTX treatment. Methods: We searched PubMed for citations published in English using the terms “methotrexate”, “transporter”, “acute lymphoblastic leukemia”, “polymorphisms”, and “therapeutic drug monitoring”. The retrieval papers were critically reviewed and summarized according to the aims of this mini-review. Results: Solute carrier (SLC) transporters (SLC19A1, SLCO1A2, SLCO1B1, and SLC22A8) and ATP-binding cassette (ABC) transporters (ABCB1, ABCC2, ABCC3, ABCC4, ABCC5, and ABCG2) mediate MTX disposition. Of note, the influences of polymorphisms of SLC19A1, SLCO1B1 and ABCB1 genes on the clinical outcome of MTX have been extensively studied. Conclusion: Overall, the data critically reviewed in this mini-review article confirmed that polymorphisms in the genes encoding SLC and ABC transporters confer higher sensitivity to altered plasma levels, MTX-induced toxicity, and therapeutic response in pediatric patients with ALL. Pre-emptive determination may be helpful in individualizing treatment.

Abstract:

Twenty rats were divided equally into four groups, housed separately in special metabolic cages. Animals of first, second and third group injected S.C. with gentamicin sulphate alone at a dose of 5mg/Kg (T) or as a mixture with calcium at a dose of 7.5 mg/Kg injected S.C. (T2) or separately with calcium given orally at a dose of 22.5 mg/Kg (T3). The fourth group considered as a control and injected S.C. with distilled water (C). The experiment includes samples analysis of sample of one week pre and post treatment and three weeks daily treatment. The results showed significant changes in studied parameters proportional with treatment period in animals of first group (Ti) in comparison with other groups expressed metabolically as a decline in body weight, increase in daily urine volume, biochemical as increase in serum creatinine, BUN, AP, AST, as well as histopathological changes in kidney nephrons and tubules. Calcium therapy whether as a mixture (T2) or alone (T3) gave nearly complete protection against gentamicin toxicity in the first and second week and incomplete one in the third week of treatment that could be attributed to the competitive interaction between calcium and gentamicin due to the similarity in charges and binding site that may cause a decline in gentamicin disposition in the target organ and tissue cell and so reduce its toxic side effect.

Se presenta la metodología utilizada en los cálculos de resistencia serie y capacitancia de unión en los diodos p-i-n con el propósito de calcular los parámetros de desempeño propios de cada dispositivo conmutador. Estos parámetros son pérdida de inserción y aislamiento. Los conmutadores de tipo serie-paralelo, exceptuando el conmutador basado en diodo p-i-n de SiC-6 H, exhiben pérdidas de inserción menores a 0.2 dB y aislamiento hasta 41dB a la frecuencia de operación de 12 GHz. El conmutador diodo p-i-n tipo TEE con base en GaN-ZB tiene la mejor respuesta de pérdida de inserción menor a 0.23 dB y aislamiento hasta 52 dB, a las frecuencias de operación de 12 GHz y 30 GHz. El conmutador compuesto con base en diodo p-i-n de GaSb alcanza el mejor desempeño a la frecuencia de 12 GHz. Los conmutadores de microondas con configuración TEE tienen respuestas satisfactorias para la frecuencia de 30 GHz.

O objetivo central consiste na construção de um plano analítico que permita incorporar essas movimentações políticas no campo dos estudos prisionais, demonstrando como o encarceramento, juntamente com outros dispositivos punitivos, se constitui como ponto de articulação e transformação desses movimentos. Tomando como referência empírica experiências de articulação política em São Paulo, destaca-se a centralidade que a prisão adquire na pauta dessas articulações e o protagonismo que nelas adquirem as vítimas da violência estatal. Além de pesquisa documental, as análises baseiam-se no engajamento dos autores, implicados nessas movimentações. Abstract:

To study the cellular signals underlying the regulatory mechanisms involved in maintenance of sarcomeric integrity, we have used quail skeletal muscle cells that reach a high degree of structural maturation in vitro, and also express a temperature-sensitive mutant of the v-Src tyrosine kinase that allows the control of differentiation in a reversible manner. By immunofluorescence and electron microscopy we show that v-Src activity in myotubes leads to an extensive cellular remodeling which affects components of the sarcomeres, the cytoskeleton network and the triad junctions. We have previously shown that activation of v-Src causes a selective dismantling of the I-Z-I segments coupled to the formation of aggregates of sarcomeric actin, alpha-actinin and vinculin, called actin bodies. We now show that intermediate filaments do not participate in the formation of actin bodies, while talin, a component of costameres, does. The I-Z-I segments are completely dismantled within 24 hours of v-Src activity, but the A-bands persist for a longer time, implying distinct pathways for the turnover of sarcomeric subdomains. Immunofluorescence labeling of markers of the triad junctions demonstrates that the localization of the alpha 1 subunit of the dihydropyridine receptor is disrupted earlier than that of the ryanodine receptor after tyrosine kinase activation. Furthermore, the location of junctional sarcoplasmic reticulum and transverse tubule membranes is maintained in myotubes in which the I-Z-I have been removed and the regular disposition of the intermediate filaments is disrupted, supporting a role for sarcoplasmic reticulum in the proper positioning of triad junctions. Altogether these results point to a tyrosine kinase signaling cascade as a mechanism for selectively destabilizing sarcomere subdomains and their tethering to the cytoskeleton and the sarcolemma.

Abstract Background Fosfomycin has the potential to be re-purposed as part of a combination therapy to treat neonatal sepsis where resistance to current standard of care (SOC) is common. Limited data exist on neonatal fosfomycin pharmacokinetics and estimates of bioavailability and CSF/plasma ratio in this vulnerable population are lacking. Objectives To generate data informing the appropriate dosing of IV and oral fosfomycin in neonates using a population pharmacokinetic analysis of plasma and CSF data. Methods The NeoFosfo study (NCT03453177) was a randomized trial that examined the safety and pharmacokinetics of fosfomycin comparing SOC versus SOC plus fosfomycin. Sixty-one neonates received fosfomycin (100 mg/kg IV q12h for 48 h) and then they converted to oral therapy at the same dose. Two plasma pharmacokinetic samples were taken following the first IV and oral doses, sample times were randomized to cover the whole pharmacokinetic profile and opportunistic CSF pharmacokinetic samples were collected. A population pharmacokinetic model was developed in NONMEM and simulations were performed. Results In total, 238 plasma and 15 CSF concentrations were collected. A two-compartment disposition model, with an additional CSF compartment and first-order absorption, best described the data. Bioavailability was estimated as 0.48 (95% CI = 0.347–0.775) and the CSF/plasma ratio as 0.32 (95% CI = 0.272–0.409). Allometric weight and postmenstrual age (PMA) scaling was applied; additional covariates included postnatal age (PNA) on clearance and CSF protein on CSF/plasma ratio. Conclusions Through this analysis a population pharmacokinetic model has been developed that can be used alongside currently available pharmacodynamic targets to select a neonatal fosfomycin dose based on an infant’s PMA, PNA and weight.

Purpose To explain and evaluate amendments to the rules of practice governing the US Securities and Exchange Commission’s (SEC’s) Administrative Proceedings that were adopted by the Commission on July 13, 2016. Design/methodology/approach Describes SEC’s increased pursuit of enforcement actions in APs, criticisms of the AP process, and corrective legislation. Describes the July 2016 amendments covering expansion of the prehearing period, allowance of depositions, timing for completion of document production in discovery phase, required disclosure of affirmative defenses, permitted dispositive motions, and admissibility of hearsay evidence. Assesses the practical impact of the amendments. Makes recommendations concerning advanced preparation for APs, depositions and witness-interview strategies, particular care concerning statements in Wells submission, availability of investigative record to defense counsel, admissibility of hearsay evidence, and defenses based on reliance on counsel. Findings The amended rules are a step in the right direction but do not fully correct the numerous and severe imbalances that exist in the Commission’s administrative enforcement process with respect to the availability of various discovery mechanisms, the timeline for trying a case, and more. Practical implications Every entity or individual that is involved in an SEC enforcement investigation, or that may become a respondent in an SEC Administrative Proceeding, should take certain practical steps such as those recommended in this article to minimize the structural disadvantages it will face and to maximize the benefits conferred by these latest amendments to the rules of practice. Originality/value Practical background and guidance from experienced enforcement, litigation, securities and financial services lawyers.

On utilise la méthode de l’analyse conversationnelle pour étudier les comportements interactionnels des scripteurs non-natifs colombiens et natifs français mis en relation à travers un dispositif de tandems linguistiques courriel. On se concentre alors sur la distance ou la familiarité des relations en analysant les modalités comportementales des interlocuteurs dans leurs routines épistolaires pour créer, maintenir et mettre fin à un échange. L’analyse montre que l’échange permet la construction de l’intersubjectivité, ce qui a une influence positive sur l’appropriation de la langue.

Abstract:

Ivermectin (IVM) and moxidectin (MXD) are broad-spectrum endectocides belonging to the avermectin/milbemycin class of antiparasitic drugs not approved for use in dairy sheep. However, these compounds are widely used extra-label to control endo- and ecto-parasites in lactating dairy sheep. Effects of the route of administration on the pattern of IVM and MXD excretion in milk were comparatively characterized in lactating dairy sheep. The relationship between the milk and plasma disposition kinetics after subcutaneous (s.c.) and oral administration at 200 μg/kg body weight was also evaluated. IVM and MXD concentration profiles were measured in milk and plasma using a specific HPLC-based methodology. IVM and MXD were extensively distributed from the bloodstream to the mammary gland and large quantities, particularly for MXD, were excreted in milk. Residual concentrations of IVM were recovered in milk up to 11 d (oral treatment) or 25 d (s.c. treatment) post treatment. However, high MXD concentrations were detected in milk between 1 h and 35 d after its oral and subcutaneous administration. MXD concentrations as high as 3·77 ng/ml (oral) and 30·3 ng/ml (s.c.) were measured in milk at day 35 post administration. A higher MXD excretion in milk, compared with that of IVM, was obtained for both administration routes. An extensive plasma to milk distribution pattern was observed, being the area under the concentration-time curve of MXD obtained in milk up to 14-fold higher than that measured in the bloodstream. The total fraction of the administered dose excreted in milk for MXD was significantly higher than that for IVM, which agrees with the well known higher MXD lipophilicity. The long persistence of milk residual concentrations of MXD and IVM in lactating dairy sheep should be seriously considered before their extra-label use is recommended.

Abstract Examining fatal poisonings, chronic exposure may be reflected by the concentration in tissues known for long-term storage of drugs. Δ9-tetrahydrocannabinol (THC) persists in adipose tissue (AT), but sparse data on synthetic cannabinoids (SC) are available. Thus, a controlled pig study evaluating antemortem (AM) disposition and postmortem (PM) concentration changes of the SC 4-ethylnaphthalene-1-yl-(1-pentylindole-3-yl)methanone (JWH-210) and 2-(4-methoxyphenyl)-1-(1-pentyl-indole-3-yl)methanone (RCS-4) as well as THC in AT was performed. The drugs were administered pulmonarily (200 µg/kg body weight) to twelve pigs. Subcutaneous (s.c.) AT specimens were collected after 15 and 30 min and then hourly up to 8 h. At the end, pigs were sacrificed and s.c., perirenal, and dorsal AT specimens were collected. The carcasses were stored at room temperature (RT; n = 6) or 4 °C (n = 6) and specimens were collected after 24, 48, and 72 h. After homogenization in acetonitrile and standard addition, LC–MS/MS was performed. Maximum concentrations were reached 0.5–2 h after administration amounting to 21 ± 13 ng/g (JWH-210), 24 ± 13 ng/g (RCS-4), and 22 ± 20 ng/g (THC) and stayed at a plateau level. Regarding the metabolites, very low concentrations of N-hydroxypentyl-RCS-4 (HO-RCS-4) were detected from 0.5 to 8 h. PM concentrations of parent compounds did not change significantly (p > 0.05) over time under both storage conditions. Concentrations of HO-RCS-4 significantly (p < 0.05) increased in perirenal AT during storage at RT. These results suggest a rapid distribution and persistence in s.c. AT. Furthermore, AT might be resistant to PM redistribution of parent compounds. However, significant PM increases of metabolite concentrations might be considered in perirenal AT.
