The newest iteration of the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual–fifth edition (DSM-5), is the first to include the diagnosis of disruptive mood dysregulation disorder (DMDD). The assessment and diagnosis of psychopathology in children are complicated, particularly for mood disorders. Practice can be guided by the use of well-validated instruments. <strong>Background</strong> This epidemiological study explores the clinical characteristics and comorbidity patterns of Disruptive Mood Dysregulation Disorder (DMDD) in a representative sample of Mexican adolescents. Based on data from the Mexican Adolescent Mental Health Survey, the study identifies a DMDD prevalence of 2.2%, increasing to 3.5% when extending the age-of-onset criterion to 12 years.
