Abstract A historically based time dimension of 300 years was used to measure the genetic micro-differentiation of transplanted populations from the Valley of Tlaxcala (Central Mexico) to Cuanalan and Saltillo. A garrison was formed to accompany Cortes’s army in 1521 to subdue the Aztecs in the adjoining valley. In 1591, 400 families from the Valley of Tlaxcala were relocated to Saltillo.
