A partir de l'étude des effets de la chimie de surface des Nanodiamants (NDs) sur leurs propriétés électroniques, cette thèse a permis la mise en évidence d'un effet thérapeutique des NDs sur des cellules humaines. En particulier, il a été montré que les NDs de détonation peuvent générer des radicaux libres oxygénés sous radiation ionisante, ce qui pourrait améliorer l'efficacité de certains traitements de radiothérapie actuels.
