Blythe, Stuart. "DMin as Practical Theology." Religions 12, no. 1 (January 4, 2021): 31. http://dx.doi.org/10.3390/rel12010031.

Full text
Abstract:
The Doctor of Ministry is a professional degree accredited by the Association of Theological Schools. As delineated by ATS, the theological program requires to meet specific learning outcomes in a minimum of 30 credit hours with a culminating project that contributes to the understanding of ministry practice. Practical theology is a discipline that seeks to take “both practice and theology seriously”. As a consequence, the DMin can be generally conceptualized as practical theology. However, this paper demonstrates a number of the specific ways in which this general claim can be substantiated. It does this with reference to a number of theoretical discussions within practical theology as to the discipline’s nature. It then examines the implication of this for the status of the DMin, student learning, program design, and the nature of the DMin project.

Abstract:
BACKGROUND: Remote, Underdeveloped Areas, Frontiers, and Islands (RUAFI) in Indonesia have a less equal distribution of doctors compared to other more developed areas, causing a decline in healthcare service quality in RUAFI and the health degree of the overall population. AIM: This research aims to describe the policy and the implication of doctor distribution in Indonesia and to provide a proportional justice-based doctor distribution policy concept. METHODS: This is a mixed qualitative research of juridical-normative and literature review. The laws that regulate the distribution of doctors in Indonesia are the 1945 Constitution, Law No. 36 of 2009, Law No. 26 of 2014, Governmental Decree No. 67 of 2019, Presidential Decree No. 72 of 2012, and the Decree of the Minister of Health No. 16 of 2017. RESULTS: The unequal doctor distribution is mainly caused by the low motivation for recruitment and retention in RUAFI. The affecting factors include disparity of incentives between doctors, low regional government involvement in the healthcare system in RUAFI, and the lack of career development for doctors being placed in RUAFI. CONCLUSION: The concept of proportional justicebased policy proposed is as follows: (a) Intensive proportionality between doctors and other types of health workers, (b) a direct regional government function of control, and (c) providing career and educational prospects.

Abstract:
The article discusses the features of the medical ethos of residents of the Federal State Budgetary Educational Institution of Higher Education of the Tver State Medical University of the Ministry of Health of Russia. Some of the basic components that form the ethos of a doctor are indicators of the degree of freedom, responsibility, discipline, self-discipline and self-responsibility. In this regard, a psycho-diagnostic study was carried out aimed at determining the external and internal modes of responsibility of residents in the context of the COVID-19 pandemic. The processing, analysis and interpretation of empirical data was carried out on the basis of the Center for Psychological Support of the Federal State Budgetary Educational Institution of Higher Education of the Tver State Medical University of the Ministry of Health of Russia. The study made it possible to conduct a qualitative analysis, determine the degree and forms of discipline. Egoism, individualism, mercantilism are secondary qualities that regulate, discipline the activities of a specialist. The experience of the current challenges of the COVID-19 pandemic requires strengthening the humanitarian, bioethical and general cultural components in the training of medical workers at all levels, both through the assimilation of abstract principles and through interactive forms such as social and psychological trainings, master classes, etc.

Abstract:
The purpose of the article is to study approaches to the formation of a network and composition of one-time specialized scientific councils in Ukraine according to the Resolution of the Cabinet of Ministers «Procedure for conducting an experiment for awarding the degree of Doctor of Philosophy» dated March 6, 2019, No. 167. An analysis was made of the existing extensive network of specialized scientific councils in Ukraine and the procedure for conducting an experiment for awarding the degree of Doctor of Philosophy by specialized scientific councils of the institutions of higher education and scientific institutions. The main objects of the study are institutions of higher education and scientific institutions which have received the right for performing educational activities in higher education at the third educational and scientific level in the field of knowledge and specialties for which Doctors of Philosophy are trained. During 2016–2019, 251 institutions of higher education in 118 specialties and 189 scientific institutions in 64 specialties received a license to train Doctors of Philosophy. As of January 1, 2020, there were 25,245 postgraduate students in 226 institutions of higher education and 191 scientific institutions (excluding postgraduate students from foreign countries), including 15,447 full-time postgraduate students, which is 61,2 % of the total number of postgraduate students, 9,798 postgraduate students attend evening and correspondence courses (38,8 %). The statutory period for the preparation of a Doctor of Philosophy in postgraduate studies, regardless of the form of study, is four years, and a Doctor of Science in doctoral studies is two years. Doctors of Philosophy training began in 2016, with the first graduation of Doctors of Philosophy in 2020, respectively. According to the data of the State Statistics Service of Ukraine, the number of persons enrolled in graduate studies was 6 609 in 2016, 7 274 persons – in 2017, 7 172 persons – in 2018, 7 381 persons – in 2019. To conduct an experiment on the Doctors of Philosophy certification, the structure of the application for the opening of one-time Specialized Scientific Councils for institutions of higher education and scientific institutions, as well as the mechanism of database filling was developed. Further research on the development of information and analytical system for the training of scientific and scientific-pedagogical staff should be focused on the development of information and analytical system for the automated accounting and monitoring of the establishment of one-time specialized scientific councils, the procedure of the Doctors of Philosophy certification and records of diplomas issued.

Abstract:
The paper highlights the comments and proposals prepared by scientists of the Institute of Industrial Economics of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine to the draft Rules for Awarding Scientific Degrees, developed by the National Agency for Quality Assurance in Higher Education (NAQAHE) and proposed for public discussion. The proposals address the issues of organization of dissertation defence, improvement of organizational forms of presentation of materials, motivation of applicants for scientific work and involvement of young people in creative activities, increasing the prestige of science, problems of admission to the defence of dissertations of applicants, who are working in business entities, but not in educational and scientific institution, personal responsibility of members of the specialized academic councils for unreasonable decision-making, low level of professional expertise and unpretentiousness, as well as emphasizes the need to substantiate the provisions on funding pre-trial procedures and the defence of dissertations, especially in budgetary institutions. In the paper considerable attention is paid to the requirements given in the draft Rules to applicants for the degree considering publications of main results of their studies. The proposed system does not provide a balance between the remuneration of scientists and the costs associated with the publication of their scientific results in journals, which are indexed in leading abstracting and indexing services. It is inexpedient to accept the proposed requirements for dissertations in the form of scientific articles for candidates for the degree of Doctor of Philosophy. The article provides a table of changes that are proposed to be made to the draft Procedure for publications. Given that the process of preparation of higher qualifications scholars goes far beyond the powers and competencies of the NAQAHE, it is proposed to return to the system of the Higher Attestation Commission (HAC) as a supervisory body under the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine. This system has paid off over the years, along with the expansion of the rights, duties and responsibilities of higher education institutions and research institutions for the training of scientific personnel – doctors of philosophy and doctors of sciences. The important role of the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine and the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine in scientific and methodological support and coordination of research works, which should become the basis of dissertation research, their examination and coordination of implementation, is also emphasized.

Abstract:
The article covers V.P. Demikhov work and activities at N.V. Sklifosovsky Research Institute for Emergency Medicine in 1964-1965. On May 28, 1964, V.P. Demikhov defended his Thesis for the Degree of the Candidate of Biological Sciences at the Biology Faculty of Moscow State University. But on the proposal of his opponents, Professor P.I. Androsov and Professor A.E. Gurvich, he was awarded the Degree of the Doctor of Biological Sciences at a second vote. On September 12, 1964, V.P. Demikhov was approved to the assignment of the sought Academic Degree by the Higher Attestation Commission at the Ministry of Higher and Secondary Special Education of the USSR. Unfortunately, the archival file of the Higher Attestation Commission on V.P. Demikhov's defending the Thesis has been lost. The present paper contains the recollections of M.M. Razgulov, an eyewitness of this Thesis defence, as well as the inexplicable facts on the missing information in the Academic Council documents of N.V. Sklifosovsky Institute for 1964-1965 about V.P. Demikhov's work and the activities of the Organ Transplantation Laboratory he headed in the Institute. It has shown that clinical transplantology in the USSR began on April 15, 1965, when the group of surgeons headed by B.V. Petrovsky performed a successful kidney transplant surgery in a human for the first time in this country. V.P. Demikhov did not participate in those events. In 1965, he was engaged in developing the problem of establishing a bank of functioning organs connected to a living organism.

<p>At the end of 1894, the University of Lwów announced a public competition for the position of the secretary of the university. A few months later the university received seven applications from young lawyers. As it turned out later the winner was Marceli Chlamtacz – a Roman law scholar, for whom it was one of the steps of his academic career. In the first part of the paper, I discussed, among others, circumstances of the elections and professional achievements of candidates until the time of elections. In the second one, were presented results of the elections and illustrated careers of competing lawyers that they had after 1895. Apart from M. Chlamtacz other persons famous in the later years applied for the position: Aleksander Doliński – professor of commercial law at Lwów’s Jan Kazimierz University, co-author of the Polish Commercial Code; Tadeusz Bujak – judge of courts in Kraków, Vienna and Warsaw; Jan Wierzbowski – attorney and judge in Stanisławów, philanthropist and donor of the Lwów’s Scientific Society; Jan Waygart – held a degree of doctor of law, specialist in military justice, Under-Secretary of State in the Ministry of Military Affairs; Jan Błeszyński – doctor of law at the Jagiellonian University in Kraków, expert in the field of theater, literature and translations. Abstract:
Purpose of the study. Analysis of implemented personnel practices presented in dissertations in the specialty 14.02.03. Public health and healthcare for 2016–2020.Materials and methods. We used data from the website of the Higher Attestation Commission under the Ministry of Science and Higher Education of the Russian Federation. Of the 220 dissertations, the authors of which were awarded the degree of candidate or doctor of medical sciences in the specialty 14.02.03 Public health and health care, 21 scientific papers devoted to personnel issues were singled out. In this study, a descriptive-analytical method was applied.Results. Dissertations covering a fifteen-year period since the beginning of the modernization of healthcare revealed a number of problems: low wages; insufficient staffing, disproportion between doctors and paramedical workers; difficult working conditions, the outflow of personnel from the industry in general, as well as from public health institutions to private medical organizations. Approbation of developments and implementation on the basis of research, evaluation of their effectiveness allowed the authors to offer recommendations for implementation in healthcare practice, starting with the Ministry of Health of the Russian Federation, government bodies of the subject of the Federation, a medical organization, educational institutions and ending directly with the object of study – management personnel, doctors, secondary medical worker. The study and analysis of personnel practices presented in scientific research makes it possible to determine the most relevant areas for the formation of personnel policy.Conclusion. The results of the study showed a small number of dissertations (9.5 %) devoted to personnel issues and defended in the specialty 14.02.03. Public health and healthcare, despite the decisive role of human resources in the innovative development of the country’s healthcare. The studies covered all groups of medical workers, managers, students of medical universities, colleges and included the study of the state of health, motivation, job satisfaction, leadership training, interaction between medical workers of different levels and patients. Effective practices are proposed that can be replicated at the regional level, new ones can be created on their basis, and they also make it possible to determine the criteria for assessing staff policy in a medical organization, subject and country.

Abstract:
Until 1965 the requirements and conditions of habilitation proceedings in Poland were governed by the law on schools of higher education. The solutions adopted under that law showed a relatively high degree of stability. In the fi rst years after WWII the habilitation qualifi cation was based on the solutions governing in Poland in the 1930s, with only slight changes introduced in the fi rst month after the end of the war. The fi rst reform of higher education of 1947 left the right to confer habilitation degrees with schools of higher education then in existence and retained the existing order of the habilitation proceedings. However, it implemented a number of rather signifi cant amendments in the area of the requirements needed to be fulfi lled at each stage of these proceedings. The right to lecture remained inherent to the habilitation qualifi cation and degree. What changed was the scope of infl uence of the minister of education supervising schools of higher education regarding habilitation proceedings and the appointment of the Main Council of Higher Education with the right of fi nal say and consent to the opening of the habilitation qualifi cation and to run the habilitation proceedings. Habilitation was abandoned by the reform of 1951 and replaced, following the Soviet model, with a higher degree of a doctor of science. Further changes followed in 1958 when it was restored by relevant provisions of the Act on higher education. It was then that more than forty years after Poland regained independence, the habilitation degree was for the fi rst time tied to a successful completion of the habilitation proceedings and earning the degree of a ‘docent’. The Main Council of Higher Education continued to function but its role in habilitation proceedings was reduced to issuing opinions before the minister of higher education decided on habilitation matters. Apart from schools of higher education, the right to confer habilitation degrees was granted to the Polish Academy of Sciences and academic institutions operating outside schools of higher education.

Abstract:
Maternal immunization is considered the best intervention in order to prevent influenza infection of pregnant women and influenza and pertussis infection of newborns. Despite the existing recommendations, vaccination coverage rates in Italy remain very low. Starting from August 2018, maternal immunization against influenza and diphtheria-tetanus-pertussis were strongly recommended by the Italian Ministry of Health. We conducted a cross sectional study to estimate the effectiveness of an educational intervention, conducted during childbirth classes in three general hospitals in the Palermo metropolitan area, Italy, on vaccination adherence during pregnancy. To this end, a questionnaire on knowledge, attitudes, and immunization practices was structured and self-administered to a sample of pregnant women attending childbirth classes. Then, an educational intervention on maternal immunization, followed by a counseling, was conducted by a Public Health medical doctor. After 30 days following the interventions, the adherence to the recommended vaccinations (influenza and pertussis) was evaluated. At the end of the study 326 women were enrolled and 201 responded to the follow-up survey. After the intervention, among the responding pregnant women 47.8% received influenza vaccination (+44.8%), 57.7% diphtheria-tetanus-pertussis vaccination (+50.7%) and 64.2% both the recommended vaccinations (+54.8%). A significant association was found between pregnant women that received at least one vaccination during pregnancy and higher educational level (graduation degree/master’s degree), employment status (employed part/full-time) and influenza vaccination adherence during past seasons (at least one during last five years). The implementation of vaccination educational interventions, including counseling by healthcare professionals (HCPs), on maternal immunization during childbirth courses improved considerably the vaccination adherence during pregnancy.

Abstract:
In 2022, Western countries imposed sanctions on the Russian scientific community, giving grounds to overestimate the paradigm of building an open global scientific system, proclaimed in Europe after the end of the Cold War. The main refrain of the new stage is the strict regulation of European values and transatlantic interests in the security of communications with Russia. The growing relationship between foreign policy and security policy marks a departure from the principles of scientific internationalism, therefore, a National System for evaluating the Effectiveness of scientific research and Development is being created in the Russian Federation. The methodology of creating a sovereign system and the principles of forming a national “white list” of journals and/or scientific publishers, publications in which are taken into account when evaluating the activities of national organizations, collectives or individual scientists, are considered. In order to increase the strictness of the selection of journals of the list of Higher Attestation Commission and the transparency of its replenishment procedures, the Ministry of Education and Science of Russia has developed a Methodology for ranking journals of the list of Higher Attestation Commission. Scientometric indicators are listed, on the basis of which an integral indicator of the “quality of the journal” is calculated for each scientific specialty. The lists of peer-reviewed scientific journals are presented, in which the main scientific results of dissertations for the degree of candidate of science, for the degree of doctor of science, should be published, classified as K1, K2 and K3 in the scientific specialty 14.02.03 – Public health and healthcare (medical sciences).

Abstract:
Pharmaceutical care is a patient-centered, outcomes oriented practice that requires the pharmacist to work in concert with the patient and the patient’s other healthcare providers to promote health, to prevent disease, and to assess, monitor, initiate, and modify medication use to assure that drug therapy regimens are safe and effective. In addition, the presence of clinical pharmacists has led to a higher quality of patient education and provision of complete detailed information for patients. In developed countries Pharm D has become the professional degree for practice of Pharmacy. The graduates will be enrolled in a pharmacy residency program; admission to the residency programs is available to Pharm D graduates of an accredited College of Pharmacy. The residency is also designed to prepare the residents to become Board Certified Specialists in their field. In many developing countries three new pharmaceutical education programs have currently been established to serve the pharmaceutical care development. Firstly, a six-year curriculum leading to the doctor of pharmacy (Pharm. D) degree as the sole professional degree. Secondly, Pharmacy Residency and Fellowship Training Program have been developed to provide intensive training in pharmaceutical care practice to the pharmacists. Lastly, the continuing pharmaceutical education program (CPE) has been adopted to ensure the competency of all pharmacists to deliver the best knowledge and skills in pharmaceutical sciences in their specialties. In our opinion we lack for most of these programs, even the program of clinical pharmacy in ministry of health is not residency program and it is short and not subspecialized apart from being not recognized by academic institutes and references. In conclusion, pharmacy profession has to change towards the more responsibility on patient care. New training program has to be adopted by medical education institutes to provide clinical pharmacists as a profession and to prepare board certified clinical pharmacists as specialists to cope with the advances in all medical fields. Key words: clinical pharmacy, board certification.

Abstract:
The formation of the stress-strain state of rocks in the several phase gasification processes was considered. Proceeding from the well-known principles of thermodynamics and phase formation of the multi-type rockmass under the influence of the temperature field, a geomechanical model of a two-layer artificially-formed shell formed during the gasification process by the method of variation feeding of the blowing mixture to the body of the gas generator was developed. The Neumann principle is used for the magnitude determination of the maximum stress vector, which involves the definition of the axial tensor of mechanical deformations through the anisotropy of the thermal expansion (the polar tensor of the second rank). This makes the possibility to create the base for a package of information programs creation. Such programs give the possibility to simplify the study of the rockmass deformation characteristics and to evaluate the stresses in a thermally changing environment. Researches are carried out by creating the final element system with the adaptation to the specific mining-geological conditions. These approaches are checked both for working out the coal reserves and for utilization of the mining waste products. Results of this investigation were included to the Roman Dychkovskyi thesis of the scientific degree of the Doctor of the Technique Sciences “Scientific Principles of Technologies Combination for Coal Mining in Weakly Metamorphoses Rockmass”. They contain the researches, which were conducted within the project GP – 489, financed by Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine.

It provides a justification of the final chemical and energy products that can be obtained as a result of complex physical and chemical transformations of coal. The thermodynamic processes of formation of the gasification source when changing the composition of the blast furnace mixture and the modes of its application to the georeactor are considered. Moreover, the change in the stress-strain state of rocks depending on the composition of the lateral rocks is taken into account. To better ensure the results are consistent with the well-known principles of thermodynamics and phase formation under the influence of the temperature field and the main chemical reactions occurring in complex gasification processes are presented. The main phase transitions in the georeactor are given for the maximum reception of different energy gases. Particular attention is given to the formation of an appropriate relationship between hydrogen and carbon monoxide, which form a synthesis gas. The Anderson-Schultz-Flory reaction is used to determine the maximum CO concentration in the outlet mixture. In general, the system for determining the material and thermal balance is proposed. These approaches were checked both for working out the coal reserves and for utilization of the mining waste products. Results of this investigation were included to the Roman Dychkovskyi thesis of the scientific degree of the Doctor of the Technique Sciences “Scientific Principles of Technologies Combination for Coal Mining in Weakly Metamorphoses Rockmass”. Also, this results were partially presented on international scientific and practical conferences “Forum of Miners” from different years. They contain the researches, which were conducted within the project GP – 489, financed by Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine.

Abstract:
The article compares the Russian and Western strategies of higher education and scientific training and their implementation in the state policy. The author considers the three-level structure of scientific training which includes in the West Bachelors, Masters and PhD programs, while in Russia in the previous period - specialty, PhD program - to defend the thesis and get the degree of Candidate of Science - and Postdoc program - to get the degree of Doctor of Science. After Russia signed the Bologna Declaration at the Berlin Conference of ministers of education in September 2003, these differences were eliminated and already in 2010 Russia implemented all basic principles of the Bologna process by having transformed its system of education and scientific training on the basis of the British-American model. The author considers both advantages and losses of this reform. Thus, Russia introduced the same education standards with the West and accepted the single certification system (Bachelor, Master, PhD), which is certainly a positive side of the reform. On the other hand, by removing the specialty level, Russia lost the basis for mass scientific training without the Masters level: today we have a negative situation in the system of higher education, when thousands of young people with Bachelors degree cannot find job or continue studying and scientific career without Masters degree, but they do not have money to pay for Masters program due to financial difficulties. As a result, the production and science systems do not get enough qualified specialists and young scientists for whose training the state has already spent a lot of money. The author concludes that it is necessary to use effective foreign experience but without ignoring the Russian education and science achievements and with taking into account national traditions and specifics of the national development.

Abstract:
In the continuous process of training doctors, in recent years, the indicator of quality of education is not the level of knowledge, skills and abilities, but the level of professional competence. In turn, the term "medical professionalism" nowadays obtains a somewhat wider meaning, and in the process of training a doctor it is characterized by the practical orientation of learning outcomes, that is, not the students' mastery of ready knowledge, but an independent formulation of the concepts necessary to solve a particular task. Hence, the learning process is of a research nature and becomes the subject of assimilation. The training of future doctors takes place in higher medical institutions which are regulated by the Law of Ukraine "On Higher Education" (2014), the "Program for the Development of Medical Education" (2015), "The Procedure for Preparing the Candidates for the Degrees for Doctor of Philosophy and Doctor of Sciences" , approved by the decree of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine as of March 23, 2016, No. 216, the Law of Ukraine "On Research and Scientific-Technical Activity" (2015). The current state of the problem under consideration makes it possible to identify contradictions between: modern requirements of the society for the training of doctors and traditional forms and methods of organization of educational process; requirements to ensure the effectiveness of the process of forming professional competence of future doctors and the lack of scientifically sound pedagogical conditions. The article analyzes the current state of the problem under consideration, substantiates the main pedagogical conditions for the formation of professional competence of future doctors.

Abstract:
The article considers the features of the system of postgraduate education in the Republic of Belarus, the characteristic features of its institutionalization as a level of education and the main trends in its development. It was shown that the transformation of postgraduate education in the post-Soviet period had an evolutionary character and did not lead to a radical rejection of the Soviet model of the two-level stage - graduate and doctoral studies and academic degrees of candidate and doctor of sciences, as happened in Kazakhstan. An analysis of the dynamics of the main indicators of the activities of the republican postgraduate doctoral studies for the period 2015-2019 was carried out. It was determined that the leading positions in the field of training of scientific personnel of higher qualifications belong to organizationsof the Ministry of Education. On the contrary, the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus is losing its leading role in providing personnel for the innovative development of the country’s economy. It was noted that in the system of postgraduate education, imbalances in the industry specialization of students in the republican graduate school and doctoral studies in accordance with the priority areas of science and technology have not been overcome. It was concluded that it is necessary to develop a set of measures aimed at improving the efficiency of the postgraduate education system, expanding the training of scientific personnel of higher qualifications for the development of high-tech industries related to the V and VI technological frameworks of the economy, strengthening cooperative ties between scientific organizations, educational institutions and industrial enterprises in order to solve the problem of staffing organizations of industrial science

Abstract:
The core of the Family Medicine (FM) vision is patient-centred care, requiring specific education and vocational training. We traced how FM education started and what have been achieved. FM training began in 1971 with the formation of the College of General Practitioners Singapore. Previously, training consisted of self-directed learning, lunchtime talks and examination preparation courses run by hospital specialists. Formal FM vocational training programmes in the United Kingdom and Australia provided the model for a 3-year programme in 1988. The tripartite relationship between the local university, College of Family Physicians and Ministry of Health, together with a structured training programme, contributed to its success. To date, more than 240 Family Physicians in Singapore have been awarded the Masters in Medicine (FM) degree. The Graduate Diploma in Family Medicine programme (GDFM) was introduced in 2000 for Family Physicians who wished to practice at an enhanced level. This programme has trained 194 doctors since then. Behind the scenes, the following were important developments: counterculture with a difference, tripartite stake-holding, training the trainers and learning from others. For the FM undergraduate programme, our aim is to develop the knowledge base, core values and roles of the Family Physician. Sustaining the value of Family Medicine as a career choice is the enduring vision. Key words: Development, History, Medical education

Abstract:
Subject. Chronic generalized catarrhal gingivitis affects the physical condition of a person, as well as the psychology of their behavior, emotional reactions, as well as their role in social life. Doctors are not always set up to assess the quality of life and patient satisfaction with the therapy. The peculiarity of this disease is the vastness of its clinical manifestations, and the need to start treatment in a timely manner, and patients taking medications themselves, affects poor adherence to treatment. These characteristics have an impact on the quality of life, and if the quality of life improves as a result of therapy, this motivates patients to effectively control their condition. Goal ― to assess the quality of life, frequency and severity of anxiety and depressive disorders in cadets with chronic generalized catarrhal gingivitis. Methodology. We conducted a survey of 140 cadets aged 18 to 25 years. Results. The revealed patterns suggest that bleeding, gum pain, and halitosis often contribute to the clinical manifestation of anxiety and depressive disorders in cadets with chronic generalized catarrhal gingivitis, thereby impairing the quality of life. The combination of various metabolic factors in a closed circle mutually increases the severity of not only clinical manifestations of chronic generalized catarrhal gingivitis, but also affects the mental status of the patient, increasing the degree of neurosis-like manifestations Conclusion. Chronic generalized catarrhal gingivitis significantly affects the decline in indicators of not only physical health, but also mental well-being. High levels of anxiety and depression are most significantly correlated with indicators of mental and physical health of cadets . Thus, anxiety and depression of a somatogenic nature has a negative impact on the quality of life, aggravates the course of the underlying disease, significantly affecting the General well-being of the patient.

Abstract:
Objective: Course curriculum of medical sciences is made by learned professors of Universities, politicians and the government officers in education ministry without consulting the students for whom it is made. Student’s Accreditation of curriculum may be useful in further modification of teaching & learning methods. In Nepal, Medical education is an experimental integrated teaching of four and half years for MBBS degree is going on for more than two decades, until now no Accreditation has been done as to what type of Doctors we are producing. The aim of the study was to find out whether integrated teaching or classical medical studies produce better doctors. Material & Methods: The study was conducted from November 2009 to February 2010 at Manipal college of Medical Sciences, Pokhara, Nepal. The present study was done to asses the teaching/learning and evaluation procedures adopted by getting Accreditation from students of 2nd, 3rd and 4th semester A structured questionnaire was prepared and a pilot study consisting of 10 students from each batch (randomly selected) was done. Results were analyzed and discussed by the authors before undertaking the main study. Later in the main study accreditation of 186 medical students was collected by same multigraded questionnaire and analyzed for the benefit of further modification of medical education by universities and medical colleges in Nepal in particular and general elsewhere. Results: All the results of the study were discussed in detailed one by one in discussion .Out of them for example one of the result of the study was that subjects like Pathology, Microbiology & Pharmacology should be reduced or not at all taught in first 2 semesters and should be continued till 7th semester like community medicine when the students attend clinical subjects for better understanding of medicine and producing better doctors. Conclusion: Overall the results were alarming & may be taken up seriously by the policy makers. They can bring about amendments in course curriculum of universities in future. Abstract:
9120 Background: Incorporating psychosocial research into practice is challenging. Aim of this study is to assess the feasibility and effectiveness in real life of interventions which have been tested in RCTs and have demonstrated to improve pts psychosocial conditions Methods: This is an implementation study of five EBM interventions conducted in 28 centers. We adopted the model of Pronovost (BMJ 2008), which includes context analysis to identify local barriers; introduction of the interventions, and evaluation of how many pts receive the recommended interventions. Primary EPs: degree of implementation detected in a blinded fashion by external personnel. Interventions included: 1) EBM communication courses for doctors and nurses; 2) use of a question prompt list (QPL) for all pts; 3) creation of the Point of Information and Support (PIS) in the ward (J Clin Oncol 27:1794-99,2009); 4) identification of a referring nurse (RN) for informing and educating pts; 5) screening of distress and social needs. Results: In December 2008, 28 eligible centers applied to participate. 27 are evaluable and 1 is too early. 156 oncologists and 401 nurses attended the 3 days training course. A QPL was subjected to cross-cultural adaptation, yielding the first validated Italian QPL (BMC Health Serv Res 2010). 24 centers (89%) have successfully implemented the intervention; 3 centers failed for various reasons: internal conflicts of the staff, poor motivation, etc. Main results for each intervention are shown in the table. Conclusions: A successful implementation of EBM measure was obtained in the vast majority of oncology centers and yields to significant changes in the delivery of psychosocial care. Abstract:
The objective of this descriptive study was to map mental health research in Brazil, providing an overview of infrastructure, financing and policies mental health research. As part of the Atlas-Research Project, a WHO initiative to map mental health research in selected low and middle-income countries, this study was carried out between 1998 and 2002. Data collection strategies included evaluation of governmental documents and sites and questionnaires sent to key professionals for providing information about the Brazilian mental health research infrastructure. In the year 2002, the total budget for Health Research was US$101 million, of which US$3.4 million (3.4) was available for Mental Health Research. The main funding sources for mental health research were found to be the São Paulo State Funding Agency (Fapesp, 53.2%) and the Ministry of Education (CAPES, 30.2%). The rate of doctors is 1.7 per 1,000 inhabitants, and the rate of psychiatrists is 2.7 per 100,000 inhabitants estimated 2000 census. In 2002, there were 53 postgraduate courses directed to mental health training in Brazil (43 in psychology, six in psychiatry, three in psychobiology and one in psychiatric nursing), with 1,775 students being trained in Brazil and 67 overseas. There were nine programs including psychiatry, neuropsychiatry, psychobiology and mental health, seven of them implemented in Southern states. During the five-year period, 186 students got a doctoral degree (37 per year) and 637 articles were published in Institute for Scientic Information (ISI)-indexed journals. The investment channeled towards postgraduate and human resource education programs, by means of grants and other forms of research support, has secured the country a modest but continuous insertion in the international knowledge production in the mental health area.
