Abstract:
The doctrine of salvation is an important concept that is common to every religion. Therefore, each religion claims to be the savior (Salvator) for each of its followers. In Protestant Christianity for example, there is a doctrine known as "No Salvation Outside Christianity", beyond Christianity there is no salvation. Likewise in Catholic Christianity, adhering to, a doctrine that mentions "Extra Ecclesiam Nulla Salus", outside the church there is no salvation. For Judaizers, the doctrine of "The Chosen People" becomes their theological foundation that only Jews will gain salvation. Whereas in Islam itself, the theological argument of salvation as their own is based on the doctrine of ultimate cessionism (ie, Christianity and Judaism) remains valid before the coming of the new (Islamic) rule that replaces the old rule, the new rule by itself cancel the previous rule. This argument is based primarily on the verse (إن الد ين عند الله الاء سلام) .If historically examined, all religions without exception, both tertiary and non-theistic are born and have a claim to the truth about the assurance of salvation, whether expressed explicitly or implicitly. In other words, no religion does not have a doctrine of salvation because the claim of salvation is something that is already inherent in every religion.

Abstract:
Purpose: The study evaluates Luther’s theory of sola fide and its relevance to the doctrine of salvation in The Apostolic Church Nigeria, Southwest Zone. The doctrine of sola fide typically entails the notion that salvation is through faith only. Unfortunately, in contemporary times, the concept of salvation has suffered much misunderstanding. It has been a subject of much controversy characterised with so much variations and confusion of thoughts in its art of teaching. Materials and Methods: Employing the tool of hermeneutics and critical assessment, the study comparatively examined the theo-linguistic implications of Luther’s sola fide and TACN’s doctrine of salvation. Findings: The study discovers that TACN’s doctrine of salvation shares fundamental similarities but TACN’s doctrine of salvation extends the doctrine of salvation further than Luther’s sola fide by emphasizing the possibility of a Christian losing his salvation. However, it is discovered and argued that TACN’s commitment to the doctrine of sola fide has not been balanced in practice. While the church professes that salvation is attained through faith only, her officials and members are observed to lay significant emphasis on salvation through works. Implications to Theory, Practice and Policy: This study therefore recommends that the church should be consistent in its commitment to sola fide both in doctrine and practice. This can be achieved through consistency in the art of teaching what is believed by the church

Abstract:
Although the doctrine of soteriology (salvation) is core to Christianity, it has divided ecclesiology for over five centuries, since the Protestant reformation of the sixteenth century. There is a misunderstanding on the role of grace and works of faith in the process of attaining salvation, especially between the Roman Catholics and the Protestants, particularly the Lutherans. The misunderstandings have been visible in the process of teaching and practice of this doctrine to their respective memberships; and many Christians are in dilemma in regard to work or not to work so as to earn salvation. The teaching on justification that leads to salvation deals with how both grace and works are involved in the process that leads to salvation. The use of the Hegelian dialect, in this article, helps us to find and propose a common way of understanding soteriology. It also guides us in understanding the teachings from the proponents of salvation by grace alone and from those who antagonistically propose that both God’s grace and a believer’s works play a role in God’s salvific plan in an individual. We therefore aim at finding a way of teaching Christians in our contemporary world in matters regarding soteriology from its doctrinal perspectives. It is anticipated that this will help in addressing the rift that obtains in the teaching of the doctrine of soteriology. Hence, this article will strive to shed more light on how one could receive justification in order to be in God’s salvific plan.

The ordination of women belongs in the hierarchy of truths neither in the level concerned with revealed truth about salvation, nor in the level concerned with revealed truth about the means of salvation. Rather it belongs to a third group of beliefs and practice which are taught authentically, which are not revealed doctrine but which are related to revealed doctrine. Since the Roman Catholic exclusion of women from ordination is not deigned doctrine, nor a matter of revealed truth concerning salvation or the means of salvation, but rather authentic teaching on a matter whose relationship to revelation is a matter of theological debate, it ought not be seen as a dogmatic barrier towards growth in union with the Anglican Communion.

Abstract:
Abstract This article examines how Reformed scholasticism can be relevant for systematic theology today. ‘Reformed Scholasticism’ denotes the academic practice in which the doctrines of the Reformation are expounded, explained, and defended. It is primarily a method and attitude in search of the truth, based on a careful reading of Scripture, drawing on patristic and medieval traditions, and interacting with philosophy and other academic disciplines. In addition to these methodological features, important contributions on various doctrinal topics can be discovered. The doctrine of God has a foundational role in the sense that God is the primary subject of the other topics (creation, salvation, etc.). Reformed scholastic theology not only examines God’s inner essence, but also the concrete relation and operation of God toward his world. In a Trinitarian understanding of God’s essence, a distinction is maintained between God’s immanent relatedness as three divine Persons, and his outward relation to created reality. The doctrines of creation and providence gave occasion for Reformed scholastics to engage in debates with the emerging natural sciences, and also articulated important theological insights concerning the involvement of God in creaturely affairs. In Christology, the Reformed orthodox maintained the classic doctrine of the two natures of Jesus Christ, against Socinians and other opponents. These ontological statements are the necessary conditions for a proper understanding of the salvation by Christ. While the doctrinal positions of Reformed scholastic theology cannot be automatically transmitted to contemporary discussions, we can profit from this tradition on several levels of method and content.

Abstract:
In the article by О.Pidluzhna "Pentecostal hamartiologiya and the doctrine of the salvation of man in the theology of Christians of the Evangelical Faith" it is pointed out that Pentecostals do not have the doctrinal corpus of documents of their faith unified for all communities. This gives rise to certain difficulties in their own self-presentation and agreement with each other, as well as in scientific attempts to interpret Pentecostal practices. The author proves that the doctrine of saving man in Pentecostal is the most multifaceted and perfect, it is almost impossible to find differences for the existence of other interpretations, otherwise it will contradict the Holy Scripture. An attempt has been made to emphasize the study of the main components of the biblical doctrine of human salvation within the theology of the Assemblies of the Churches of God, in contrast to the scientific generalized joint experience of the classical Pentecostals and charismatics.

The paper argues for the crucial role of conceptual blending in creating and developing of Christian doctrine. It assumes that typological patristic exegesis of the early Christian period, viewed through the lens of Conceptual Blending Theory, may be regarded as a series of conceptual integration processes, with typological blends as building blocks of Christian doctrine, including the doctrine of salvation. To prove this, the paper discusses selected Adam-Christ typological blends present in the writings of the early Christian authors, seeing in them linguistic realizations of moral accounting metaphor that underlies the doctrine of salvation and demonstrating in this way a key role of conceptual integration in shaping Christian doctrine.

Abstract:
The doctrine of God's choice of believers is a concept that is difficult to explain and has become a theological polemic to this day. This concept polemic occurs in groups that emphasize works as the basis of salvation and groups that emphasize grace as the basis of salvation. The Bible explains that the doctrine of choice of believers (predestination) is a very important part, and this doctrine is closely related to the teaching of salvation. Specifically, the Bible explains the doctrine of God's choice of believers in the letter Romans 9. Therefore, the author uses the exegetical method to find the meaning of God's choice of believers as an effort to strengthen the congregation's faith. God chooses His chosen people based on God's covenant, God's purposes, God's generosity, and God's sovereignty. And Allah chooses His chosen people through faith, and not because of good deeds. Faith here is faith in the Lord Jesus who is the center and target of faith.

Abstract:
This article seeks to demonstrate the coherence of Athanasius of Alexandria’s soteriology by drawing attention to the interrelationship between his doctrines of sin and redemption. Traditional accounts of Athanasius’s doctrine of salvation often present an incomplete picture by, for example, underemphasizing sin and the effects of the Fall or overemphasizing deification. In fact, Athanasius’s soteriology is balanced and intelligible insofar as he integrates a robust doctrine of sin with a deep and rich soteriology founded upon the Incarnation. Therefore, this study lends further support to the thesis in contemporary studies that Athanasius is a consistent thinker who integrates various doctrines of the Christian faith into a coherent system.

Abstract:
This article examines the doctrine of salvation by the Catholic theologian, medieval mystic Bernard of Clairvaux. Also disclosed in detail his anthropological position, which is the basis for Bernard's soteriology. The author shows the features of the continuity of Augustinian anthropology in the doctrinal postulates of Bernard. Particular attention is paid to the issue of free will in the context of the doctrine of original sin. The purpose of the article is to determine those specific positions of Bernard Clairvaux's soteriology, which, based on the theology of Augustine, nevertheless come into doctrinal contradiction with the Augustinian postulates. As a result of the study, author comes to the conclusion that the Augustinian doctrine of salvation is undergoing significant changes in the work of Bernard Clairvaux. The scientific work is relevant because the succession of soteriological doctrines from Augustine to Bernard was not considered in Russian philosophical science. In this article, the author uses the method of comparative analysis.

The doctrine of election presents us with an intellectual challenge. The Synod of Dort maintained that, based on his sovereign good pleasure, God decided to choose some for salvation and punish others with condemnation. This truth often leaves the impression that God acted in an arbitrary or even unjust manner. The Canons of Dort, though, present the electing God as a merciful Father and frame election within the language of adoption. As the Canons shape this doctrine in this way, they help God’s people understand it better, even though certain questions will remain. This article combines doctrinal analysis and parabolic storytelling to highlight the particular strengths of the Canons’ treatment of this challenging doctrine.

Abstract:
Based on the premise that the task of systematic theology is to promote an understanding of doctrines by relating different doctrines to one another, and in dialogue with the religious-cultural context, this article provides a systematic proposal for understanding the Roman Catholic doctrine that affirms the church as the universal sacrament of salvation. This doctrine will be clarified by relating it to the doctrine that interreligious dialogue is part of the Catholic Church's evangelising mission. The context for this understanding is one in which religious diversity is both a fact and often times, a problem. The reflections begin with a survey of several terms and relations that are central to the doctrines that are being discussed. Bernard Lonergan's notion of mutual self-mediation is then explained and presented as a tool for both Christian and ecclesial self-understanding. Mark Heim's so-called “theology of religious ends” is appealed to as a concrete way for mutual self-mediation to be practised, and Lonergan's ecclesiologial suggestions allow the notion to be applied on an ecclesial level.

Abstract:
The doctrine of salvation (soteriology) is one of the most important doctrines in Christianity. The doctrine of soteriology needs to be understood and understood properly and correctly, so as not to lead to misleading interpretations. One of the interesting verses to discuss in the doctrine of soteriology is the assurance of salvation in the Gospel of John 10: 28-29. For this reason, in this article, the author will analyze the Gospel of John 10: 28-29 in order to provide a soteriological understanding that is in accordance with the truths contained in the text. The result of the analysis of this article is that Jesus guarantees the salvation of believers so that they do not perish forever, and God the Father also guarantees this salvation. Therefore, believers will receive the power of the Holy Spirit so that they can practice every truth that God wants in their lives. Thus, every believer can have a correct understanding of the assurance of his safety. This needs to be a concern for Christian educators, whether they teach in families, schools, or churches.

I explore the influence of Immanuel Kant and Friedrich Schleiermacher in Hick's thought and discuss how his theology of religions and his concept of inter-religious dialogue are related to Christianity and yet are divorced from some of its central tenets.

Abstract:
The article analyzes the objectivity of the antithesis West-East, formulated in the Russian theology of the 19th century, in particular, in the dissertation of Archimandrite Sergius (Stragorodsky) “Orthodox Teaching on Salvation”, 1895. The analysis is based on a comparative research of modern official translations of the Gospel of Luke in the Catholic and Orthodox traditions. Well-recognized critics of Archimandrite Sergius agree that the opposition of the West and Russia through the prism of juridical and moral worldviews is “not so unambiguous” and therefore could not be a reliable basis for the “Orthodox doctrine of salvation”. It is argued that the thesis about the difference between the two worldviews had an artificial origin, since it was dictated by the desire of the early Slavophiles and their followers to create in Russia its own theological system, totally different from the Western one. The importance of the topic is due to its direct relation to the dogma of salvation, which is the main goal of the Christian doctrine.

The hypothesis of this paper is based on an examination of the relationship between Christology and eschatology with soteriology, and through the analysis of their selected core concepts, it seeks to contextualize the discourse on salvation within a contemporary framework. Specifically, the study explores the terms of hope, faith, freedom, and bodily resurrection, which provide a framework for a modern approach to soteriological reality. The selected terms, when considered together, demonstrate their suitability in connecting the experiences of the contemporary individual, their existential position, and perspectives on salvation, while also drawing on rich theological traditions and Catholic doctrine. The initial research question that stemmed from the interconnection of the two treatises (Christology and eschatology) with soteriology has provided us with significant insights into various possibilities for the contemporary understanding of salvation.

In this paper, I explore two developments of the doctrine of assurance by theologians (i.e. John Calvin & Kenneth Keathley) and argue that they fail to accommodate the fallibilistic nature of human knowing. AbstractT. F. Torrance is widely thought to be one of the most important recent theologians in the Anglophone world. There has been quite a lot of research done on his soteriology. This essay contributes to that discussion by assessing five soteriological themes in his thought. These comprise: his account of the vicarious humanity of Christ, the notion of incarnation as atonement, his christological understanding of the divine image, his wholly objective view of the nature of justification and his atonement mechanism. I use this analysis as a means to investigate two broader notions in his theology. These are theosis and universal salvation. In keeping with several other recent treatments of his work I conclude his theology implies a doctrine of theosis. I also argue that it implies universalism, despite his emphatic rejection of the doctrine.

Abstract: Calvin was not the first and only person who have preceded the doctrine of predestination, because in his writings he used much of Augustine’s argument to explain the problem of predestination. If predestination is often identified with Calvin it is because he provides a more comprehensive and complete explanation of this doctrine. Predestination is totally God’s deed that by His omniscience, He choose some people to be saved, not because of their good deeds. It talks about God’s ultimate decree about the salvation. In other word, predestination is God’s eternal deed, that by His sovereignty choosing some people to get the grace of salvation, by not counting their merits nor good deeds and some people had been decided to be punished because of their sins.

Liberal theology since Harnack has failed to make much sense of the patristic axiom, ‘Not assumed is not healed’. Harnack is severe: ‘The mystical doctrine of salvation and its new formulas had not only no Scriptural authority in their favour, but conflicted also with the evangelical idea of Jesus Christ.’ More recently Maurice Wiles questioned the cogency of the axiom, negatively on the grounds of difficulties in the idea of ‘divinisation’ and of the corporate nature of salvation, but positively on the grounds of a quite different understanding of what salvation means. ‘If salvation be thought of in personal terms’, he argues, ‘then its effective outworking is through the experience of divine grace in the human soul. Whatever media may be involved, the locus of salvation is the sphere of ordinary personal existence in which God establishes fellowship with man.’

This article aims to explain the doctrine of Christian Salvation through the Lumen Gentium document, analyze the debates and variations of views that exist in Christian theology regarding the fate of adherents of other religions, and look at the responses of Christian churches and theologians to these challenges and dilemmas about the fate of others. The approach used in writing this article is an analysis of the literature, which involves the study of theology, the study of ecclesiastical documents, and the study of the views of Christian theologians on soteriology. This article reveals that soteriology emphasizes the importance of explicit faith in Christ as the only way of Salvation stated in Christian teachings. However, there are debates and various views in Christian theology regarding the fate of those who embrace other religions. Some theologians try to embrace religious diversity by arguing that Salvation can be found in other religions through the grace of God working through Christ without explicit knowledge of Him. Meanwhile, some maintain the exclusive view that faith in Christ is the only way to Salvation. Soteriology shows that faith in Christ as the work of Salvation accomplished through His death on the Cross is the core of the Christian understanding of Salvation. But in the context of the fate of others, there are various views in Christian theology. Based on this fact, the inclusivism built by the Lumen Gentium document seems half-hearted. Therefore a healthy theological dialogue and more profound understanding are needed to respond to this complex challenge and to promote an inclusive experience and widespread love for all human beings.

Abstract:
Salvation in the concept of the Apostle Paul is very worthy to be studied considering the Apostle Paul wrote the most books in the New Testament. In addition, the concept of salvation is a primary doctrine that becomes a dogmatic grip for the church of God. The author conducted a literature study from several relevant sources to discuss this topic. The author examines the view of salvation in general from the letter of the Apostle Paul and then ends more specifically according to Romans. The general letters written by Paul and especially the Romans indicate the Apostle Paul's concept of salvation is theomorphistic, departing from God, by God and for God. The concept is also in harmony with the contents of the Gospels and other books throughout the Bible

This essay sets forth a précis of the Reformed doctrine of sanctification explaining the doctrine and its relationship to the rest of the order of salvation, especially justification. The key to the Reformed doctrine of sanctification is to recognize that holiness and sanctity finds its source in union with Christ but also to recognize the priority of justification over sanctification. Greater sanctity in the Christian life is found, not in the believer’s good works, but in seeking Christ by faith alone through the means of grace (word, sacraments, and prayer). The essay also interacts with and critiques the doctrine of definitive sanctification as espoused chiefly by the late John Murray.

Abstract:
This study aims to explore Adventists’ understanding of the doctrine of salvation by comparing and contrasting the views of Ford and LaRondelle with Olson’s evangelical synergism to better understand the various views of salvation that exist within the Seventh-Day Adventist Church, many of which are inconsistent with arguments against perfectionism and Pelagianism. Olson’s evangelical synergism is an Arminian understanding of salvation that some conservative Reformed theologians consider to be outside of the Reformation, but Olson proposes a broader Protestant view of salvation that he calls “evangelical” in that human will and participation are initiated and completed by the grace of God. Ford does not accept predestination but is similar to monergists who emphasize the sovereignty of God, especially justificationcentered Reformed ideas, whereas LaRondelle reveals a Wesleyan view of salvation that emphasizes the connection between justification, sanctification, and human participation, a type of what Olson calls evangelical synergism. These two ideas persist among Adventist scholars. Nevertheless, studying these two scholars will alleviate some of the misunderstandings and tensions that arise both internally and externally from the Adventist view of salvation.

Abstract:
Abstract In the second half of the first millennium AD, Vaiśeṣika system undergoes a process of synthesis, articulated by the development of the doctrine of dharma under which umbrella, two contrasting views on ‘salvation’ abhyudaya (possibly Vedic) and niḥśreyasa (Upaniṣadic) come to be explained as implying each other. The doctrine of salvation in Vaiśeṣika is a static state, devoid of change, and is indeed defined with niḥśreyasa (mokṣa), but because it is determined by a particular dharma as Candrānanda says [Vaiśeṣikasūtras with Candrānanda’s Vṛtti (VSc) 6.2.11; VSc 1.1.2], it comes to be seen as not exclusively removed from the necessity of action, be it ethical or karmic, which are so much the domain of abhyudaya (VSc 1.1.2; 1.1.6). It seems that the system’s soteriology expands as to include not only the renouncer’s acts, but also worldly ones, hence abhyudaya becomes preliminary to niḥśreyasa.

Abstract:
AbstractThis article is an attempt at viewing the doctrine of salvation from a trinitarian point of view by shifting the focus of the inclusivist theology of religion from a traditional christocentric version into a version that, rather than only being linked to christology, is substantially linked and fundamentally based on a trinitarian doctrine of God. By this focus, I attempt at promoting a theology of religion that is based on the conviction that the non-christian religions can experience God's salvation by means of the particular work of the Spirit and not only by the work of the Son. The purpose is to take christocentric inclusivism into a more biblically comprehensive pneumatico-trinitarian attestation. In the Bible, the saviour of the world is the triune God as the Father, who reconciles the world to Himself particularly by virtue of His Son but universally by virtue of His Holy Spirit.

Abstract:
This paper aims to describe the process of religious commodification within Majlis Tafsir Al-Qur’an (MTA) in Surakarta. The teaching and practices of MTA (such as the doctrine of salvation, leadership and brotherhood, and the practice of pengajian) have effectively constructed social belonging among its members. It represents the production of social identity, loyalty, and solidarity. Besides, the charisma of its leader, Ahmad Sukino, has become a center of social appeal. Social belonging and charisma become influential elements for the MTA members. One of the MTA compelling-doctrines is the doctrine of jihad harta. It occurs through mobilizing the contribution of MTA members and commodifying pengajian. Referring to Kitiarsa (2010), there are at least two reasons behind this religious commodification: commodity and market. MTA monetizes religion-based objects, such as brochures, books, and videos. Pengajian becomes a market where the process of commodification follows.

Safety is fundamental part of human life. The issue of the doctrine of salvation is a never-ending discussion. Because this is closely related to a belief in life in the future. Yet not many people take seriously the importance of salvation. There are some people who say salvation is matter of later, what important now is to focus on life in this wolrd. So it very necessary for every believer to take responsibility for preaching the gospel of salvation. Because of what is happening now, many believers are more focused on living tn the present. Many believres do not take their evangelistic mandate seriously and consistenly, even though the content of salvation is extraordinary and veru clear. As a believer, preaching the gospel is a task that is most basic and even become a believer’s lifestyle. Because salvation in Jesus is an important principle whose end is eternal salvation. The context of this discussion is focused on the theological overview of the concept of through writing, namely, First, believers understand how important the meaning of salvation is for everyone. Second, belivers fulfill the call to carry out the great commission in all aspects of life; Third, every believer always has creativity in conveying the gospel message to everyone who does not believe in Jesus.

Abstract:
Fr. Manuel Piñon, O.P., in his work Predestination and Salvation, insisted that it is imperative to clarify and rediscover the original features of the content of the doctrine of predestination,—a doctrine that has engendered misunderstanding within the Christian circle in the past—inasmuch as it is at the heart of the theology of Christian revelation. This study on the above proposition of the said Dominican scholastic is carried out through a threefold discussion. It traces the development of the dogma by utilizing as markers the two major thinkers in the Catholic tradition, namely Augustine and Thomas Aquinas, making their respective theological reflections as the premise upon which M. Piñon’s own exposition will be constructed. Moreover, the developments in the doctrine of predestination that had been introduced by thinkers reacting to the propositions of Augustine and Thomas Aquinas respectively are likewise to be investigated. It is in order to account for M. Piñon’s insistence on the need to rediscover and rearticulate the original understanding of the said doctrine. Without discounting the implication to human freedom, this study takes the stance that the issue of predestination is concerned more about the right doctrine of God. The theology of predestination, as proposed by M. Piñon, will be explored around the question: How to reconcile the notion of God who is solicitous about the salvation of all, with the view that some will end up condemned for eternity?

Abstract:
The article explores the state, causes and effects of poverty in Malawi. It proceeds to investigate soteriology as a prominent theme in Dietrich Bonhoeffer’s theological thought. Then an exploration is made regarding how Bonhoeffer’s notion of salvation could be employed as paradigm to address the challenge of poverty in Malawi. The soteriological perspective is preferred, among many other approaches, on two-fold grounds: the hamartiological origins of poverty require a soteriological exploration and salvation is a prominent theme in Malawi. Approaching the social evils from the perspective of the doctrine of salvation could produce enduring effects. The observation is that such an approach could be more promising and could bear enduring fruits regarding addressing the challenge of poverty in Malawi.

Abstract:
The subject of this research is the soteriology of Amidism as a single formative force that contributed to the spread and acquisition of new features of the doctrine. The object of this research is the theory of salvation and rebirth in the Pure Land, which undergoes modification and adopts the elements of other schools and denominations. This article examines soteriology of the School of Amidism as a driving force that develops and promotes the doctrine of the Pure Land in the Far Eastern region during the Middle Ages. Comprehensive approach towards studying the system of soteriological aspects of Amidism allows comprehending the patterns of the process of establishment and strengthening of the doctrine in new sociocultural realms. An attempt is made to trace the peculiarities of the impact of other schools of Buddhism upon soteriology of Amidaist doctrine. The scientific novelty lies in the original approach towards examining the soteriological representations of the Buddhist direction. The soteriological aspects of Amidism are viewed as a single substrate, linking element, foundation for the doctrine of the Pure Land, which promotes its development and distribution on the Asian continent and neighboring states. Amidaist teaching has walked a long path, since conception of the idea of Pure Land to development of the complex doctrinal system. In the spatial context, Amidism transcends the boundaries, growing from the local belief to a major trend of Mahayana Buddhism. Soteriology of the doctrine has become the foundation, formative force, which contributed to strengthening and development of doctrine.

Abstract:
This article intends to investigate this issue objectively and honestly without bias from the comparative viewpoint between Islam and Christianity. The methodology of the article is to have a comparative analysis of the concept of salvation in both Islam and Christianity by presenting the similarities and differences. This article utilises passages from the Qur’an and the Gospel as primary sources, which will be complemented with journal articles as a secondary source. The first section looks at the terminology of ‘salvation’ within Islam and Christianity from the viewpoints of sin, repentance and forgiveness, as salvation in both Christianity and Islam means saving from the consequences of sin, and in both religions this involves repentance by humans and forgiveness by God. The second part of this article will examine how Muslims and Christians view Jesus in relation to salvation. This is tied to salvation because the death and resurrection of Jesus is how Christians believe salvation has been accomplished. The final section of this article analyses the God doctrine of Christianity and the God concept of Islam from the comparative perspective with regards to the topic of salvation. This comparative analysis will be important in highlighting the similarities between the two Abrahamic faiths, and that such commonalities can be used as a basis for respect and peaceful co-existence between Christians and Muslims.

She has always interested not only theologians and scholars, but also ordinary believers. After all, it is about believing in the possibility of continuing human life, life in eternity. The doctrine of the resurrection is at the heart of Scripture because it is directly related to the problem of salvation. Abstract John Gill was an influential minister and theologian of the eighteenth century. Deeply influenced by the Reformed tradition, he made significant innovation to the doctrine of the covenant of redemption. Current surveys of his theology have unfortunately not adequately explored this innovation. The primary cause of this failure is a lack of attention to Gill’s historical context, a context shaped by doctrinal antinomianism and no-offer Calvinism. This article will contextualize Gill’s thought and provide a more accurate reading of his covenant theology by arguing that he offered a unique construction of the covenant of redemption that radically minimized human agency in the reception of salvation.
