Abstract:
The molluscan fauna of the Velké Doly Natural Reserve was surveyed in 1999 and 2006. In total, 27 snail species were found (26 terrestrial gastropods and 1 bivalve). The Natural Reserve is only 1.5 km far from ironworks “Třinecké železárny”. In the 18th century, there was a limestone quarry and beech plantation (as a fuel for ironworks) in the reserve. At the present time the reserve represents the secondary forests society Tilio cordatae-Carpinetum with protected and regional notable plants in undergrowth (Cephalanthera damasonium, Lilium martagon, Arum alpinum, Hacquetia epipactis, etc). The present character of the Velké Doly Natural Reserve is a result of human activities, nevertheless it is preserved and favourable site for molluscs, since many stenotopic and endangered woodland species occur there (e.g. Discus perspectivus, Petasina unidentata, Oxychilus glaber). The presence of the vulnerable snail Discus perspectivus is notable as first locality in Poland part of Těšín region (the Natural Reserve Velké Doly is located on the Poland border). Occurrence of euryecious species Arion distinctus, Arion lusitanicus and Limax maximus could relate with some human impact (e.g. presence of allotted gardens colony).

Developmental Dynamics of Localities Severely Affected by Anthropogenic Activities on the Example of Doly Bílina The paper focuses on the area of Doly Bílina in the Most district, on the landscape that has been severely affected by extraction of mineral resources for a long time and represents in terms of natural conditions one of the most damaged regions where no possibility of a return to original condition comes into consideration. By using appropriate remedial and recultivation measures, however, we can create a sort of "alternative" natural environment, which should be able to fulfil a greater part of all wood-producing and beneficial forest functions after a certain time, as did the original landscape system.

VŠB – Technical University of Ostrava, institute of geodesy and mine surveying has been cooperating with Severočeske doly j.s.c. (SD) in important research project since 2007. The main goal is improve control system for opencast mining. Two bucket wheel excavators (K800/103 and KU300/27) were equipped with measurement hardware at the Libouš Lignite Mine (North Bohemia brown coal basin). The position of the bucket wheel centre is computed by means of GNSS data, inclinometer and incremental measurements. Data is transferred to a base. All the values measured are saved in this database. The surface layout of the mine as well as positions of underground geological layers are updated on a regular basis in the digital model of the mine. The main aim of the research is verifying the system in connection to digital model for short time prognosis of qualitative parameters of coal (Ad, Sd, Qr, Wr and MS), continuous automatic computation of mined materials (m3, tons) and continuous checking of creation of the movement surface/plane of the excavator and mining goals. Mine surveyors have a lead role in the working team. The paper describes possibilities of using the GNSS for mine surveying and for production planning.

Abstract:
This study was conducted to determine whether there exists the presence of plasmid from Salmonella isolated from poultry farms in Abia and Imo states southeast Nigeria. Forty Salmonella isolates were used for the study. The alkaline phosphate method of Birnboin and Doly was employed. Three buffers A, B and C made up of different concentrations and volumes with adjusted pH were used. A (400 mM Tris, 200 mM Na Ethylenediaminetetraacetic acid), B (3 M Na, acatic acid) and C (10 mM Tris, 2 M Na Ethylenediaminetetraacetic acid). The test organisms sub-cultured on MacConkey agar (MCA) were processed at various centrifugation rates and time. The suspected pure plasmid deoxyribonucleic acid was mixed with ethidium bromide and loading dye using agarose gel. The set up was viewed under ultraviolet transillumination with gel documentation apparatus. Plasmid cure was conducted with ten multidrug resistant Salmonella isolates. Danifor Biotechnology method was used for the plasmid curing experiment. Three curing agents, sodium deodecyl sulphate curing agents (100), sodium deodecyl sulphate (10 g or 10%) and nutrient broth (100 ml) were used. Plasmid DNA was detected from the Salmonella isolates evidenced with bands at 100 bp. There was plasmid cure as supported by the zones of inhibition by some of the antibiotics when compared with the original isolates. Keywords: Cure, DNA, multidrug resistant isolates, plasmid, Salmonella

Abstract:
This paper focuses on the comparison of corporate social responsibility in mining industry. It compares specific territorial areas of two different countries – one of them country that could be called as semi-periphery or even core country and the second one a periphery country. The first one is Czech Republic (Northern Bohemia area) and the second one is Zambia (Copperbelt area). CSR activities in Copperbelt have played primarily an ameliorative role in the context of significant social disruption and uncertainty in the wake of privatization. Some experts say there are still important gaps between mining companies’ CSR activities, on the one hand, and accountability and fairness, on the other. The CSR concept is relatively new in the Czech Republic – but more and more discussed and interesting for many firms. The Czech company “Severočeské doly” was one of the finalists of the national round of the competition “The European Corporate (Social) Responsibility Award” in 2007. The aim of this paper is to find the opportunities the companies working in this industry use, and how the system of CSR is developed. It analysis the areas they concentrate on in their CSR activities and compares it with theoretical concept. The comparison is based on secondary data as well as on personal experience of visiting both of these areas and companies.

Abstract:
AbstractEuhedral crystals of complexly zoned niobian titanite (up to 0.3 mm) are enclosed in hedenbergite (Hd53—81Di15—43Jh3-5) and quartz from a hedenbergite vein skarn at Kamenne doly near Pisek, Czech Republic. They are associated with minor clinozoisite-epidote (Ps3—22), calcite, plagioclase (An95). scapolite (Me80—82), scheelite, pyrrhotite, fluorapatite, arsenopyrite, native bismuth and Bi,Te-minerals. The following textural and compositional subtypes were recognized: (I) Nb-rich titanite, (II) Nb-moderate titanite in the central zone, (III) Nb-poor, Sn-enriched titanite and (IV) Nb-poor, Al,F-rich titanite in the outer zone. The substitution Al(Nb,Ta)Ti—2 is dominant in subtypes I and II, the titanite subtype I being characterized by elevated contents of Al ≤ 0.257 atoms per formula unit (a.p.f.u.), Nb (≤ 0.161 a.p.f.u.) and Ta (≤ 0.037 a.p.f.u.). Amounts of Al, Nb and Ta in subtype II are smaller and more variable. The minor substitution SnTi—1 occurs chiefly in titanite subtype III with a content of Sn ≤ 0.039 a.p.f.u.. The substitution Al(F,OH)(TiO)_i is typical for titanite subtype IV exhibiting elevated contents of Al (s£ 0.221 a.p.f.u.), F (≤ 0.196 a.p.f.u.) and Fe (≤ 0.039 a.p.f.u.).The negative relationship of substitutions Al(F,OH)(TiO)_i vs. SnTi—1 and Al(Nb,Ta)Ti—1 is constrained chiefly by crystal structure rather than by the composition of parent medium alone. Textural relations suggest that the Nb-moderate titanite in the core zone and entire outer zone are products of fluids-induced dissolution-reprecipitation processes. The studied niobian titanite represents a new F-enriched type from a medium-grade, calc-silicate rock.

Abstract:
BackgroundThe Deprivation of Liberty Safeguards (DoLS), introduced into the Mental Capacity Act 2005, were fully implemented on 1 April 2009 in England and Wales. The government estimated 20 000 assessments for DoLS at a cost of £600 per assessment.AimsTo estimate the costs likely to be incurred with the implementation of DoLS in England.MethodThe cost of conducting a single DoLS assessment was estimated using resource-utilisation data ascertained from 37 professionals, secretarial staff and independent mental capacity advocates involved with DoLS assessments in six diverse local DoLS offices.ResultsThe estimated average cost of a single DoLS assessment was £1277.ConclusionsThe estimated average cost of a single DoLS assessment was significantly higher than the £600 estimated by the government. However, the allocated budget, based on 20 000 estimated DoLS assessments in the first year of its implementation, is likely to be adequate because a significantly lower number of assessments (only 5200) were conducted in the first 9 months after its implementation.

Full text
Abstract:
Leaf curl disease of radish (RLCD) was observed for the first time in India in commercial fields and kitchen gardens of the Varanasi District and adjoining areas of eastern Uttar Pradesh during November 2003. Infected plants exhibited typical upward and downward leaf curling, leaf distortion, reduction of leaf area, and conspicuous enations on the underside of the leaves. Incidence of RLCD was estimated to be between 10 and 40% depending on the cultivars used. Electron microscopic observation revealed typical geminate particles in infected leaf samples. The causal virus could be transmitted to radish cv. Minu Early by whiteflies (Bemisia tabaci) and grafting. Inoculated plants developed symptoms similar to those observed in naturally infected radish plants. Viral DNA was isolated from artificially inoculated symptomatic radish plants (4) followed by concentration of super-coiled DNA by alkaline denaturation (1). The presence of a geminivirus was confirmed by PCR using DNA-A degenerate primers (3), and a 1.5-kb amplified product was obtained from six artificially and three naturally infected plants. Amplification of the full-length DNA-A was achieved using a primer combination derived from sequences obtained from a 1.5-kb amplicon. Amplification of 1.3-kb DNA-β sequences was achieved using specific primers (2) in three infected plants. Sequence analysis revealed that DNA-A (GenBank Accession No. EF 175733) contained 2,756 nt and DNA-β contained 1,358 nt (GenBank Accession No. EF 175734). DNA-A of the causal virus shares 87.7% identity with Tomato leaf curl Bangladesh virus (GenBank Accession No. AF 188481) and 62% identity with Mungbean yellow mosaic India virus (GenBank Accession No. AF126406). The begomovirus DNA-A sequence associated with RLCD contained seven open reading frames (AV1, AV2, AC1, AC2, AC3, AC4, and AC5). The DNA-β associated with RLCD shared the highest nucleotide sequence identity (84.9%) with DNA-β of Tobacco leaf curl virus isolate NIB 12-1 (GenBank Accession No. AJ316033) reported from Pakistan. Despite exhaustive attempts to amplify a putative viral B-component using degenerate primers based on the intergenic region sequence of the DNA-A or sequences that are highly conserved for other begomoviruses, no DNA-B component was detected. On the basis of DNA-A sequence analysis, the ICTV species demarcation criteria of 89% sequence identity, and genome organization, the virus causing RLCD should be considered a new Begomovirus species, for which the name Radish leaf curl virus (RLCV) is proposed. To our knowledge, this is the first report of the association of a Begomovirus with a disease of radishes in India. References: (1) H. C. Birnboim and J. Doly. Nucleic Acids Res. 7:1513, 1979. (2) R. Abstract:
A magic three-qubit Veldkamp line of W ( 5 , 2 ) , i.e., the line comprising a hyperbolic quadric Q + ( 5 , 2 ) , an elliptic quadric Q − ( 5 , 2 ) and a quadratic cone Q ^ ( 4 , 2 ) that share a parabolic quadric Q ( 4 , 2 ) , the doily, is shown to provide an interesting model for the Veldkamp space of the doily. The model is based on the facts that: (a) the 20 off-doily points of Q + ( 5 , 2 ) form ten complementary pairs, each corresponding to a unique grid of the doily; (b) the 12 off-doily points of Q − ( 5 , 2 ) form six complementary pairs, each corresponding to a unique ovoid of the doily; and (c) the 15 off-doily points of Q ^ ( 4 , 2 ) , disregarding the nucleus of Q ( 4 , 2 ) , are in bijection with the 15 perp-sets of the doily. These findings lead to a conjecture that also parapolar spaces can be relevant for quantum information.

Abstract:
Today, the art of dance is being destroyed so that it requires preservation effort, in order to maintain its sustainability in the midst of society. This is what the Potre Koneng dance studio in Sumenep Regency is doing, namely by managing good communication so that efforts to preserve the art of dance take place well. This study uses a qualitative descriptive approach with data collection techniques using interviews, observation and documentation. The result showed that the communication management carried out in the Potre Koneng dance studio used an adult communication model which was analogous to the "Russian Matouschka dolls", which consisted of self doll, interpersonal doll, people-in-system doll, and competence doll components. Self doll was done in the form of contact, involvement and intimacy. Interpersonal doll was done in the form of empathy, supportive attitude, positive attitude, and an equality. The people-in-system doll was depicted by messing with the humanistic design between the Potre Koneng dance studio and the community. Meanwhile, competence doll covers all layers or sizes of the previous doll. The obstacles in communication management at the Pore Koneng dance studio are the noise during practice and the existence of suspicious prejudices. Keywords: communication management; dance art; cultural preservation
