Domestic chores are a topic of great interest for couple relationships since they are a source of conflict between intimate partners. The purpose of the present research is to investigate offering and asking for help with domestic chores and the respondents’ tendency to be intuitive or verbal or to do chores alone. A vignette applied to children and married adults. The respondents were 116 boys and 116 girls and 110 male partners and 300 female partners, who completed individual questionnaires, online using Google Forms, regarding helping behaviour. Research on the processes underpinning the contemporary growth in the commoditisation of domestic labour focuses on feminised areas of work, such as cleaning and care. Yet research examining trends in domestic outsourcing highlights how men's, as well as women's, household work is subject to increased commoditisation. Through a qualitative enquiry of households which outsource stereotypically male domestic chores – essentially, household and garden repair and maintenance – and men who do such work for pay, we seek to understand the processes underpinning its outsourcing. Abstract The solar photovoltaic (PV) industry continues to make progress in increasing the efficiency while reducing the manufacturing costs of PV cells. Economies of scale are being realized as manufacturers expand their production capabilities. Products are commercially available that integrate photovoltaic cells within building façade, fenestration, and roofing components. Legislation and incentive programs by government and commercial entities are supporting both reduced first costs and greater rates of return. The combination of factors support improved cost-effectiveness. As this trend c

Domestic violence is a universal phenomenon that does not choose society, individuals. At the opposite pole of harmonious relations between members of a family, where human rights and freedoms should exist, is domestic violence. Domestic violence against women differs from other forms of violence because both the perpetrator and the victim are members of the same family. The aggressor consolidates his power by dominating and discriminating against the victim. The problem is that the aggressor is a family member, which shows an obvious asymmetry between the proportions of acts of violence commi

In today's world, where knowledge and technology are developing at an unprecedented speed, higher education has become almost a prerequisite for success and plays a key role. Obtaining a bachelor's degree is no longer always sufficient for a successful career. In many areas, deeper training is required, which can be given by a master's degree. The master's degree is the second stage of higher education, following the bachelor's degree. It allows you to deepen the knowledge and skills gained in the bachelor's degree, as well as to conduct independent scientific research. The purpose of studying

This study focuses on designing a survey to explore the factors affecting the domestic tourists' preferences and motivations in Serbia. The research, conducted with the participation of 750 individuals using the CAWI method, has yielded significant results. We found that factors such as the availability of attractions and personal preferences play a crucial role in destination selection. Our findings suggest that affordable accommodation, promotional travel packages, and cost-effective access opportunities encourage tourists to choose new destinations, aligning with sustainable tourism initiat

Bernal, Carolina, and Razvan Vlaicu. Research Insights: Can Financial Inclusion Reduce Extreme Weather Impacts on Rural Children? Inter-American Development Bank, 2023. http://dx.doi.org/10.18235/0005297.

Full text
Abstract:
Extreme rainfall induces rural households to choose immediate benefits over long-run investments in education by increasing the incidence of child labor and household chores at the expense of school attendance. Over-indebtedness through pre-existing formal loans reinforces the likelihood that a child works due to rainfall shocks. Asset insurance, foreign remittances, and natural disaster aid reduce or eliminate the shock-induced shift toward domestic activities and away from schooling.

Abstract:
This paper examines how rural households cope with climate change related rainfall shocks by re-allocating childrens time between domestic activities and school attendance. Households affected by an unanticipated rainfall shock face an inter-temporal trade-off between current household income and future potential earnings. Financial inclusion may mitigate or exacerbate the human capital impacts of rainfall shocks depending on whether it relaxes or constrains household budgets. The data come from a three-round panel household survey in rural Colombia collected between 2010-2016. The main findin

In most Latin American countries, the upper and middle classes tend to meet their care needs through the market, resorting to options such as private schools and care centres, as well as the labour of domestic workers. However, these practices were affected by the COVID-19 pandemic and its containment measures. Drawing on a series of interviews with employers of domestic workers in Paraguay, this paper analyses the changes in convivial relations and arrangements regarding the distribution of care within households that outsource domestic chores and had to adapt to lockdown measures. Deeply entrenched cultural norms in the LAC society tend to dictate that women should bear the primary responsibility for domestic tasks and caregiving. This social perception results in an unequal distribution of chores, not only within households but also in the broader work environment. This policy brief offers a thorough review of robust academic studies on men's involvement in caregiving and examines specific cases where further research is warranted. It particularly focuses on assessing the effectiveness of various public policies that encourage men's engagement in caregiving at home and

The intervention increased access and use of home computers, with some substitution away from computer use outside the home. Beneficiaries were more likely to complete domestic chores but less likely to read books.
