Gherson, Elise. "La violence domestique." Nice, 2005. http://www.theses.fr/2005NICE0021.
Full textIt occured in the summer of 2003, the tragic and well publicised demise, of a talented young actress, reminding us of the concealed social phenomenon of violence towards women in a relationship, forrmed with their husband or their partner. This insidious violence, diffused or brutal, occasional or frequent, manifests itself in a variety of diverse forms: psychological, economic, physical. Subtle offenses through knocks and blows, can often be fatal. The expression of violence by her perpetrator, a man in the majority of cases, with the need to dominate all, more often with an inferiority complex, whose origins are many. Powering the roots of unequal relationships between man and woman, she sometimes takes revenge to the loss of traditional privileges. Contrarily there is an idea that limits conjugal violence to the background of the underprivileged, the effects of poverty and a lack of education are not significant factors. This phenomenon is not saved only for particular countries and is not the doing of countries less favoured. The international bodies such as the “Conseil de l'Europe” are at last taking recognition of the problem. On 26th March, 1985, the committee of the “Conseil de l'Europe” addressed the member states with a recommendation on violence within the family, to encourage greater public awareness and scope, describing the gravity and particular traits of violence. . . . In seeing the struggle against this phenomenon. The public needs of nations are long overdue, to be able to react and adopt specific laws/regulations in the matter that are again unknown in a number of countries

Full textThe ecological success of the house mouse, Mus musculus domesticus, implies a great capacity to adapt its diet to available food resources. The social transmission of food preference (STFP) is an adaptive type of learning observed in rodents allowing them to enlarge their food repertoire at lower risk by getting olfactory information on novel food sources from conspecifics. This social learning takes place directly, during an encounter with a conspecific or indirectly, via olfactory marks. The objective of this thesis work was to determine how mice use their socio-olfactory environment to make food choices. Our results revealed that the absence of the conspecific during the indirect STFP reduces the social constraints associated with an encounter and allows the acquisition of STFP between unfamiliar conspecifics. However, some physical constraints associated with the perception of information in feces may reduce the availability of food information. We also showed that different sex concerns of individuals may affect the prioritization of information present in feces and limit, in males, the acquisition of STFP. Our results suggest that the use of food information in mice varies according to their social and ecological context and involves different processes such as emotion and attention. Under natural conditions, the direct and indirect STFP could be complementary, each of them extending the conditions for the transmission of food information in rodents

Space's morphology, the buildings caracteristics and location, the spatial distribution of vestiges (material culture, traces of activities and quimical transformations of floors) in the various spaces are themain criteria. This study points out nemerous perspectives of investigations to house archaeology in Maya area
Matteazzi, Eleonora. "Essais sur les modèles collectifs avec production domestique." Thesis, Cergy-Pontoise, 2010. http://www.theses.fr/2010CERG0473.
Full textThe objective of this research project is to contribute from both a theoretical and empirical perspective to the literature about collective models of household behavior accounting for household production. In particular, the aim is to show that the collective models represent an alternative tool with respect to unitary models of household behavior with the advantage to allow the analysis of intra-household distribution of resources. This has some effects on individual labor supply, consumption and material well-being. In the first two chapters, using the American Time Use Survey, the objective is to estimate man and woman's market labor supply. In the first work we prove a new identification result of the sharing rule for the case where no distribution factor is observable. The second work develops a theoretical model of labor supply with domestic production that is consistent with corner solutions. In the third and fourth chapter the objective is to extend the farm-household literature to the collective approach. In the first work we focus on the separability property on the model when both the price of the domestic produced good and the price of individual time are endogenously determined within the household. We present some statics comparative results. In the second work, using Italian ISMEA data, we carry out a simulation
Jacquet, Christine. "Choix migratoire, choix matrimonial : devenir domestique à Fortaleza." Lyon 2, 1998. http://www.theses.fr/1998LYO20082.
Full textTo become a domestic in fortaleza : wandering and matrimonial ambitions pursuit this research is concerned with redefinition of social positions based on observations carried out on household employees, i. E. Maids, who live in the city of fortaleza (brazil). Employment as a maid in fortaleza brings with it a number of major biographical changes, both in terms of family environment as well as in terms of a socio-geographical shift. The position of a maid is only seldom passed on from generation to generation. It is an option for girls from small country villages with no work experience. They come from the interior of the state of ceara, which they usually then leave for good. This study of the situation of maids seeks to investigate why these girls are prepared to go through an experience which will bring with it so many upheavals. Based on research carried out by historians on the situation of french household employees last century, to work as a maid in fortaleza is seen in this study to be a way of establishing oneself in town. The results of a variety of surveys we carried out lead us to assume that marriage is the main objective of the girls' migration. That would be the result of the low social value of the men available for marriage locally, in the villages. This 'rural devaluation' is in part due to the increasing poverty of young people from small villages and partly due to the increase of matrimonial ambitions on the part of the girls, which contributes to the redefinition of criteria for selecting a spouse. In this way the migration of those girls to fortaleza is perceived as a strategy to ascend within the social ranks through marriage. It is only by looking at this 'promotional dimension' of these girls' behaviour that we can understand the interrelationship between migration and household employment. To work as a maid is therefore not only a way of establishing oneself in town , but also a means of achieving social ambitions through marriage

Full textThe aim of our study was to estimate the levels of biological contaminants and chemical pollutants in the indoor air and then to identify their determinants. We carried out an environmental study in 196 dwellings of newborn babies recruited from a birth cohort, combining questionnaire and repeated measurements. Biological contaminants concentrations (endotoxins, fungi, house dust mites) were low, close to background level. As for aldehydes, levels were in line with previous studies. Analysis also helped to highlight the housing factors associated with aldehyde concentrations in homes: apart from comfort and aeration parameters, the main indoor aldehyde sources were either continuous (age and type of building materials and coverings), or discontinuous (smoking, use of air fresheners and cleaning products, DIY. . . ). However not possible for airborne biological contaminants, the extrapolation of theses models to the whole infants’ cohort may be interesting for aldehydes

Full textThe financial exemption program for domestic help services in Quebec aims to encourage house holds with needs for domestic help to obtain their services from social economic enterprises domestic help while promoting their development. This program mainly targets people who are losing their independence due to their age, as well as those who have special needs due to a condition of incapacity or vulnerability. Several types of aid are then offered, such as compensatory aid granted to organizations providing services, fixed aid and variable aid granted to users. To this end, investment shave been made since 2009 in this program to improve variable aid for vulnerable clients in order to allow users to afford more services. The purpose of this study is to assess the effect of a increase in variable assistance per hour of domestic help which happened in October 2016. We use this almost natural experience and data on active users 18 months before and 18 months after the increase. We use a Tobit type 1 model in double differences to evaluate the impact of this reform on users’ consumption of domestic help services. Monthly, we find that the improvement in variable assistance in 2016 had the effect of increasing the average consumption of services by 0.19 per hours (approximately 11 minutes). This figure corresponds to a monthly increase of approximately 4% in the average consumption of hours of services. In addition, we distinguish two types of effect : a contribution at the extensive margin and at the intensive margin. The results reveal a greater response at extensive margin. These results suggest that the improvement in variable assistance had a positive and significant effect on the average consumption of hours of home help services in Quebec.

Full textThis thesis covers the topic of low cost humanoid robots localization and navigation in a dynamic unconstrained environment. It is the result of a collaboration between the Centre for Robotics of Mines ParisTech and Aldebaran, whose robots, NAO and Pepper, are used as experimental platforms. We will describe how to derive information on the orientation and the position of the robot, under high constraints on computing power, sensor field of view and environment genericity. The environment is represented using a topological formalism : places are stored in vertices, and connected by transitions. The environment is learned in a preliminary phase, which allows the robot to construct a reference. The main contribution of this PHD thesis lies in orientation and approximate position measurement methods, based on monocular cameras with a restricted field of view, and their integration into a topological structure. To localize the robot in the robot, we use mainly data providing by the monocular cameras of the robot, while also allowing extensions, for example with a 3D camera. The different localization methods are combined into a hierarchical structure, which makes the whole process more robust and merges the estimations. A trajectory control has also been developped in order to transition accurately from one vertex to another, and incidently to provide a feedback on the walk of the robot. The results of this thesis have been integrated into Aldebaran software suite, and thoroughly tested in various conditions, in order to validate the conclusions and prepare a client delivery

Full textWe analyze in this work the determinants of the energy source for heating choice and its impact on the households living in France energy consumption and expenses. This thesis is written in five chapters. In the first we show the lack of data relative to home's energy consumption and we present a set of descriptive statistics showing some features of the energy consumption and expenses in the French dwellings. In the second chapter we describe in details the utilization of energy for heating in the French residential park and we make use of a discrete choice model to determine the factors intervening in the choice of heating equipments. In the third chapter we analyze the determinants of the energy demand for heating and the overall energy expenses in all the French dwellings by estimating a series of econometric models inspired by Dubin and Mcfadden (1984) used to deal with the selection biais. In the fourth chapter we concentrate on the rental sector to determine its singularities on the one hand, and, on the other hand, to find out the features which distinguish the social sector from the private sector concerning the heating equipment choice and the energy consumption and expenses levels. And last but not least, the fifth chapter is dedicated to lay the foundations of a theoretical model formalizing the behavior of all the agents toward energy when the heating bill is collective. It is worth noting that so far, there isn't any model dealing with this question
Dubourg, Sandrine. "L'architecture domestique dans l'Alexandrie gréco-romaine : spécificités et influences." Thesis, Toulouse 2, 2015. http://www.theses.fr/2015TOU20071.
Full textDeveloped through the analysis of several archaeological sites, this research project focuses on the urban housing of the city of Alexandria in Egypt, from its foundation by Alexander the Great (331 B.C.) until the end of the High Empire. The theme of domestic architecture in ancient Alexandria has to be seen in a wider Mediterranean context, this city being rooted in the Greek and Roman tradition. It is also important to understand what the influence of Egyptian civilization was on imported models. In recent years, considerable progress achieved thanks to the excavations performed in the heart of Alexandria, has led to a substantial increase of the archaeological documentation available for the study of the domestic architecture of the city. A comprehensive study proposing a definition of private space in the Greco-Roman Alexandria requires the analysis of the structuring of private and public spaces, which are complementary and inseparable components of a single entity: "the city". Issues of implementation, functional and symbolic organization of private space in direct contact with the urban space organization, also functional and symbolic, will be discussed to highlight possible affinities with domestic housing schemes known elsewhere in the Mediterranean. The objective is to achieve a study of the Alexandrian case including the analysis of transformations and evolutions of habitat areas as well as the explanation of architectural and urban projects that have governed in time, through multiple adjustments, changes in the ancient city of Alexandria
Le, Texier Thibault. "La rationalité managériale : de l'administrations domestique à la gouvernance." Nice, 2011. http://www.theses.fr/2011NICE0042.
Full textIn the eighteenth and nineteenth century, the notion of “management” takes a first meaning within a coherent set of concepts – care, industry, arrangement, conduct and calculation – which articulation draws a new way of thinking. At the beginning of the twentieth century, while the business corporation slowly emancipates from the family sphere, this rationality is redefined on the basis of four main general principles: efficiency, organization, control, and knowledge. This second managerial rationality shows, throughout the twentieth century, a unity and a stability that are of a nature neither scientific nor ideological. This rationality cannot be understood by the yardstick of the military discipline, of the patriarchal authority, of the instrumental rationality proper to the engineers, or of the capitalist rationality proper to the economists, for the very reason that it is formulated largely in reaction to these four rationalities. Precisely, the second managerial rationality constitutes a new understanding of the way of governing individuals, which we call a “governmentality”, in way slightly different from Foucault. This managerial governementality cannot be fitted into a unique organisational frame, but circulates between different institutions, the most prominent of which being the family, the business corporation and the state. The study of this new governmentality is the occasion to question the main views of government prevailing on both sides of the Atlantic for a century and a half, and thus to contributes to clarifying the contemporary ways of thinking about power

Full textThe architecture of marrakech's houses is characterized by its fi delity to domestic architectural traditions of islamic west and by some specific elements. The traditional aspects concern the house's plan with a central courtyard and the use, along centuries, of pise and bricks. Its own characteristics are the importance and the priority accorded to the inhabiting and reception room and not to the patio anymore. More attention is then given to the reception room wich is duly decorated than the patio ; even if the latter is not neglected. Another characteristic shows in the floor conception. Its devided in two distinct and independent parts. One is opened to foreign guests and has its own stairecases wich geos up from the house's entrance the second one is reserved to the family and is connected to the heart of the house

Full textElizabethan domestic tragedy stages the middle-class citizen's married life. Should we see there the image of the Edenic happiness promised by Puritan conduct books, or a foretaste of hell ? Behind that question lies the image of woman. Does she still conform to the idealized Lucrece or Griselda stereotypes of old ? The plays offer an ambivalent type of heroin. That theatre had an edifying role. Its authors apparently respect the imposed convention, presenting the spectator with an unchanging homiletic pattern. But the impertinent art of the dramatists upsets the order and certainties of the moral discourse. A range of images and metaphors make for an aesthetic blurring effect of confusion. Domestic tragedy depicts a gloomy universe, where the image of the fall into nothingness is substituted for the comforting vision of a sublimated elevation
