We evaluated Staphylococcus aureus contamination of door and wheelchair handles in a hospital with a care facility. In the hospital, 11 (27.5%) of 40 door handle sites and 7 (28.0%) of 25 wheelchair handle sites were contaminated. The S. aureus contamination density (mean ± SD) was 9.8 ± 14.0 colony-forming units (cfu) for door handles and 285.0 ± 731.6 cfu for wheelchair handles. In the long-term care facility, 18 (51.4%) of 35 door handle sites and 9 (36.0%) of 25 wheelchair handle sites were contaminated. This article reviews the topological optimization of a door-handle design, its adaptation to being produced using Additive Manufacturing (AM), and the feasibility of Metal Extrusion as a part fabrication method. Two different door-handle designs were created and optimized with the introduction of lattices and generative design using nTopology software and later produced with Inconel 625 filament.

This study was conducted to determine the prevalence of parasites (protozoan cysts and helminths ova) on door handles of school shuttle buses at the Federal University Lokoja, Kogi State, Nigeria, between March and October 2023. Atotal of 120 samples from the door handles of 20 shuttle buses were analysed using the formol-ether concentration technique to determine the presence of intestinal parasites. Abstract Cooling tower odors, which result from the reaction between free chlorine and tolyltriazole, are a problem in many cooling towers. At the El Segundo refinery, a hydantoin-based halogen donor was substituted for traditional chlorine treatment. Not only were odors eliminated at the refinery, but the use and storage of liquified chlorine was eliminated before SARA Title III and other restrictive regulations were imposed. Hands-free door handles are considered one of the new design approaches to reduce the amount of hand contact with doorknobs, which will reduce bacterial or viral transmission through hands and doorknobs. We designed a hands-free ergonomic door handle (HFEDH) using the Iranian anthropometric dimension of the forearm and its circumference to be placed on existing Iranian hospital door handles. Hot deck imputation is a method for filling in a missing value in a survey item (item nonrespondent) with a valid reported value from a donor (item respondent) within the survey.
