Abstract:
General confusion has surrounded the status of Nearctic Dorcus species since the 19th Century. In this paper the two Nearctic species are clarified and compared, and morphological characters discussed that will readily distinguish them. Examination of the type specimens of D. mexicanus reveals that they are actually mislabeled specimens and that the species is a new synonym of the Palearctic D. parallelipipedus (L.).

ABSTRACT We analyse the 1D spatial power spectra of dust surface density and mid to far-infrared emission at $24\!-\!500\, \mu$m in the LMC, SMC, M31, and M33. By forward-modelling the point spread function (PSF) on the power spectrum, we find that nearly all power spectra have a single power-law and point source component. A broken power-law model is only favoured for the LMC 24 μm MIPS power spectrum and is due to intense dust heating in 30 Doradus. We also test for local power spectrum variations by splitting the LMC and SMC maps into 820 pc boxes. We find significant variations in the powe

Dora, who is good at writing love and marriage novels, breaks away from the daily themes of marriage in her recently published collection of short stories and explores the dusty history of Malaysia. However, it should be noted that her expertise in emotions has not been neglected due to the intervention of history. On the contrary, this emotional awareness becomes an important path for her to enter and reflect on history. With “emotion” as the thread and “history” as the axis, Dora, in the literary dimension of daily life and history, not only tells stories but also focuses on the human perspe

Abstract Two years previously, the left hip of a 41-year-old woman was replaced surgically. Four days later, her cast was removed and she noted a foot drop. In addition, numbness was present over the lateral leg to the dorsum of her foot. There was no change since then. Medical history was negative except for contralateral hip pathology. Physical Examination. Weakness was evident in the left tibialis anterior, peroneus longus, and extensor digitorum brevis. There was decreased touch and pain sensation involving the anterior thigh to the dorsolateral aspect of her foot. DTRs were active and symmetric. Plantar responses were flexor. There was no Lasègue’s sign.

Abstract:
Abstract This chapter describes the bones, muscles, vessels, and nerves of the leg and foot. It discusses the superficial veins of the leg and the communications between the deep and superficial veins. The structures in the leg are described in the three compartments: the front of the leg with the extensors of the ankle and toes, along with the deep fibular nerve and anterior tibial artery; the lateral side of the leg—the fibular compartment with the fibularis longus and brevis and the superficial fibular nerve; and the back of the leg with the gastrocnemius, soleus, long flexors, tibial nerve, and posterior tibial artery. The origin, course, relations, branches (or tributaries), termination of important nerves, and vessels of the anterior compartment of the leg are described. The dorsum of the foot and the sole of the foot are described. Detailed, stepwise instructions are provided for dissecting this region. All descriptions and dissections are well illustrated. Clinical anatomy of varicose veins of the leg, the anterior compartment syndrome, foot drop, and injury to the common fibular nerve are discussed.
