Full textThe figure of the Double seems to invade the contemporary creation. Even if it is akin to an artistic process with an old origin, the performances of the technology now allow reproducing objects and representations. Do we still have to make the difference between the copyright of a thing and the one of a living model? The Double crystallizes the expectations and the fears of the moment. In literature, by example, W ou le souvenir d'enfance by G. Perec and the “autofiction” by Chloé Delaume intertwine fiction and reality; the artists Cindy Sherman and Sophie Calle show interesting problems too. At the cinema, many doubles meet in the French movie Dancing. At last, in the arts which implicate directly the bodies of the audience, we can evoke Daniel Buren and Felix Gonzalez-Torres's devices, as well as Yan Duyvendak's. In this way, by extending the semiotic method to the most common languages, we will try to define the contemporary artistic stakes
Ju, Hyoun-Jin. "Yi Sang, Michaux, œuvres doubles et doubles mondes." Paris 8, 2006. http://www.theses.fr/2006PA082678.
Full textThis dissertation compares the poetic positions of the Korean poet Yi Sang and Henri Michaux. While all of Yi Sang’s works are examined here, we limited ourselves to Michaux’s works written before 1945. This comparative study is neither grounded on a interacting or a inter-textual relationship. What allows for comparison is the critical reception of both poets, in France and Korea. In this case, one finds expressions like “singularity” and “abstraction”. Nevertheless, it is in the actual texts that one grasps the ontological insufficiency of “emptiness” or of “absence”. Our research focuses on several themes or problems one might encounter with these two individuals’ work. This takes the form of real experiences ( biographical-historic), uneasiness created by an ontological lacking and its effects. These interrogations are the basis of our analysis of Michaux and Yi Sang’s poems and pictorial representations. They all refuse interpretations that are “fixed” and “reductive”. This analysis reveals, for each poet, a unique and “abstract” poetic, a new language, against the tide of “what is already there in the world”. Moreover, for each of them, a quest continues at the risk of becoming endless. This, thereby, allows for the fragile construction of a “ novelty shop (Yi Sang)”

Full textThis memory aims to study the influence of mechanical connections between the components of a double wall. A voluntarily purified mode! is developed using a wave approach on infinite beams. Its goal is to insulate and understand the phenomena related to the presence of connections. Two types of phenomena are identified, and an analytical expression of their appearance frequency is obtained In the second time, a method of under structuring the analysis of the system is presented. Ft is a question of feeding the acoustic model of double wall (model “macro”), with the results of the study of a realistic connection (study “micro”), carried out using a finite elements code. This method, applied to wall lining with polystyrene, gives informations about the local behavior of the connection and about the wide behavior of the system. Ft makes it possible to set up a mode! of composed leaf system, specific to wall lining with polystyrene, and of simple invoice. The influence of the connections is identified In this case, it is not significant. The results obtained are extended to wall linings made up of porous. Techniques of improvement of the acoustic performance of wall lining are proposed

Full textNew layered double hydroxides (LDHs) CoFe-Ac, CoNiFe-Ac, ZnNiFe-Ac and ZnCoFe-Acwith MII/MIII molar ratio of 3, and acetate ions in the interlayer region have been preparedusing forced hydrolysis of acetate metallic salts in a polyol medium. The structure, morphology and properties of as-prepared product were investigated by X-ray Diffraction(XRD), FT-IR Spectroscopy, elemental analysis, transmission Electron Microscopy (TEM),Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM), thermal analysis (DTA, TGA) and V-visibleSpectroscopy: showed that these nanocomposites present the typical features of hydrotalcitelikestructure, exhibit a turbostratic character and the intercalation of acetate anions into theinterlayer domain has been successfully done, giving an interlayer spacing value of 12.70,12.47, 13.64 and 14.69 Å for CoFe-Ac, CoNiFe-Ac, ZnNiFe-Ac and ZnCoFe-Acrespectively.We can note that there is some difference between the interlayer spacing for all synthesizedphases. That can be explained by the arrangement of inserted species (anions + water) indifferent orientation in the interlayer domain.57Fe Mössbauer spectrometry allows concluding the presence of Fe3+ cations which occupyoctahedral sites and confirming the absence of Fe2+ in the as-prepared compounds. In order to check the capacity of our materials synthesized in polyol medium to exchange theacetate anions inserted in their interlamellar space, anionic exchange in aqueous medium waseffected for CoFe-Ac compound as à model of synthesized LDH. All the physicochemicalmethods of analysis (DRX, IR, ATD/ATG and elemental analysis) carried out on the materialCoFe- Ac /EC (exchanged). The comparison with a lamellar phase containing oFeCO3/Asynthesized in aqueous medium, show a layered double hydroxide compound with aturbostratic disorder, and a new interlamellar distance d003 = 7.67Å which correspondsperfectly with the presence of the carbonate anions and the water molecules in the interfeuilletfield. In the second part of this study, we are interested to examine the capacities of these kinds ofmaterials for the adsorption of an anion dye benzopurpurine-4B-. The adsorption of direct red2 by CoFe-Ac, CoNiFe-Ac LDHs has been examined in order to measure the capability ofthis new organic/inorganic nanomaterial to eliminate this highly toxic azoic class of anionicdyes from wastewater. The sorption capacities of LDHs for Benzopurpurine4B are also compared with those of other adsorbents : CoFe- Ac /Ec, CoFeCO3/A (synthesized in aqueous medium), Mg-Al-CO3/A and its calcined product at 500°C “Mg-Al-500”. The quantity of dye eliminated was found to depend on contact time, pH, initial concentration of dye and heating temperature. The thermodynamic parameters ΔG°, ΔH° and ΔS° werecalculated to predict the nature of adsorption. Results suggested that the Benzopurpurine 4B adsorption on different compounds was a spontaneous and endothermic process. Adsorption kinetic data were tested using pseudo-first order, pseudo-second order, Elovitch’sequation and intra-particle diffusion models. Kinetic studies for all cases showed that the adsorption followed a pseudo-second order reaction. Studies revealed that intra-particle diffusion played an important role in the mechanism of dye adsorption by MgAl-500. Theequilibrium data were analyzed using Langmuir, Freundlich, Tempkin, Elovitch, Dubinin-Radushkevich, Redlich-Peterson and Toth isotherm models. [...] Taking these results into account, we can conclude that prepared LDHs by forced hydrolysis in a polyol medium can be used successfully in the removal of anionic dyes from aqueous solutions

Full textThe purpose of this work is to propose a tax treatment applicable to passive income in international triangular tax cases. The first part of the study is dedicated to the analyses of the double tax exposure. These are “passive” triangular cases or “incurred”, where potential double tax and uncertainty creates an issue for economic growth. The second part of the study is dealing with “active” triangular situations that may be motivated by the tax benefit resulting from these structures. The conclusion of our study will include proposals to amend the OECD treaty Model

Full text“Stretched between double constrain and double injunction. The commitment to progressivetraining of Belgian penitentiary wardens. Case study”, LEROY Joël / Supervision: Professor Étienne BOURGEOIS (PhD)The “current” world and its social or legal changes obviously impact on this “little world within the bigger” which is the penitentiary one.Important breakthroughs in the last decades, e.g. regarding man’s and detainee’s right or respect culture, enforce themselves, step by step, to the rules and workers from the penitentiary world applying them. In this way, discrepancies which have always existed between institution aims and mission aims, between intern safety and extern safety or warding prerogatives and counseling needed to reinsert detainees, widen. We noticed how international society-bound tensions that are currently fiercely debated in Belgian jailhouses pass from the macro level (the one of the super structure) to the micro level (the one of the working individual). To the experiencing workers this lead to a profound change of professional gestures and their mental representation of the work. Considering both what they call the strict (le strict) and the social (le social), penitentiary wardens talk of deep professional bewilderments as well as identity crisis. This thesis, which follows two other works of ours on the reforming Belgian penitentiary world, poses the question of the possible links between those identity tensions and the wardens training commitment who work in the cell part of jailhouses (place where the detainees live and where the wardens work).By this qualitative and monographic study, after having thought about the “whys” of the training commitment of workers subscribing to auto-determined and progressive professional trainings, we intended to better understand whether and how commitment to trainings allows or not those wardens at least temporarily to solve for their own welfare as well as for others their professional and identity dilemma

Full textOne of the dilemmas faced by the present STT-MRAM technology is the reduction of the power consumption and increase of data access speed without jeopardizing the data retention. A possible solution lies on the double barrier magnetic tunnel junction (DBMTJ) where the amplitude of the spin transfer torque (STT) on the storage layer can be tuned through a proper magnetic configuration of the outer electrodes. Thus providing more reliable read/write operation modes for MRAM. Despite the reduction in half of the switching current, previous studies on DBMTJs with in-plane magnetization report undesired switchings in read mode associated with field-like torque. In this thesis, we further investigate the complex interplay between damping-like and field-like torques in these double barrierstructures. Measurements using DC current and short voltage pulses in DBMTJ with symmetric and asymmetric barriers have revealed a strong presence of the field-like torque both in write and read modes. Moreover, in DBMTJs with symmetric barriers set in read mode, we demonstrate pure field-like torque switching which is proportional to a quadratic voltage and adjusted by a b2 prefactor. Furthermore, this torque favors a antiparallel alignment between the storage layer magnetization and the two references’ magnetizations. The results obtained experimentally were in agreement with macrospin simulation performed with a proper tuning of the damping-like and field-like torque prefactors. In order to suppress the field-like torque and aiming for a further reduction of the writing currents and enhancedscalability of MTJs, we developed and realized DBMTJs with perpendicular anisotropy (p-DBMTJs). Novel seedless multilayers with improved perpendicular magnetic anisotropy to be used as top reference were designed and implemented in functional p-DBMTJs. The optimized p-DBMTJs were patterned into sub-300nm nanopillars and the spin transfer torque studied experimentally in write and read modes. The use of W instead of Ta as a spacer in the FeCoB/spacer/FeCoB composite storage layer showed a 3x improvement of STT efficiency. In write mode, p-DBMTJs have also demonstrated a considerable enhancement of STT efficiency when compared to single barrier p-MTJs. In read mode, switching has been prevented at the center of the bistable region but its thermal stability degraded with high voltage. Among several proposed explanations of this phenomenon, the reduction of the saturation magnetization and effective anisotropy with increasing temperature has been supported by macrospin simulations as the most probable one

Full textIn this thesis we studied the structure coefficients and especially their dependence on n in the case of a sequence of double-class algebras. The first chapter is dedicated to the study of the structure coefficients in the general cases of centers of group algebras and double-class algebras. We recall in it the representation theory of finite groups and its link with structure coefficients. We show also that the study of the structure coefficients of double-class algebras is related to the theory of Gelfand pairs and zonal spherical functions by giving, in the case of Gelfand pairs, a theorem similar to that of Frobenius which writes the structure coefficients of the double-class algebra associated to a Gelfand pair in terms of zonal spherical functions. In the second chapter, we recall the Farahat and Higman's theorem about the polynomiality of the structure coefficients of the center of the symmetric group algebra as well as the Ivanov and Kerov's approach to prove this theorem. We give a combinatorial proof to the polynomiality property of the structure coefficients of the Hecke algebra of thepair (S2n, Bn) in the third chapter. Our proof uses a universal algebra which projects on the Hecke algebra of (S2n, Bn) for each n. We show that this universal algebra is isomorphic to the algebra of 2-shifted symmetric functions. In the fourth and last chapter we build a general framework which gives us the form of the structure coefficients in the case of a sequence of double-class algebras. This framework implies the polynomiality property of the structure coefficients of both the center of the symmetric group algebra and the Hecke algebra of (S2n, Bn). In addition, we give a polynomiality property for the structure coefficients of both the center of the hyperoctahedral group algebra and the double-class algebra of diag (Sn-1) in Sn x Sopp n-1

Full textDuring meiosis, hundreds of programmed double strand breaks (DSB) are generated and repaired by homologous recombination. Meiotic DSB can be repaired by two major alternative pathways, which generate either crossing-over (CO) or non-crossing-over (NCO) products. The choice between the two repair pathways is tightly controlled to ensure sufficient and accurate CO formation. The chromatin environment could play a crucial role in this process that has not been elucidated yet. Little information is available about the importance of chromatin factors for meiotic recombination. The aim of my PhD was to study chromatin factors necessary for chromatin dynamic during meiotic recombination. I have shown that CAF-1 (Chromatin Assembly Factor 1) and Hir (Histone Regulator), two chaperone proteins that are able to incorporate histones into chromatin, associate with DSB sites during meiotic recombination. CAF-1 and Hir deletion have no effect on the outcome of meiosis and CO formation. However, by genome-wide recombination studies, I have observed that the absence of CAF-1 histone chaperone results in a slight decrease in CO interference. The result suggests that CAF-1 could be one of the factors regulating DNA repair during meiotic recombination. Finally, I have also studied another H3/H4 chaperone, Asf1 (Anti-silencing Function1). Asf1 deletion gives rise to a defect in meiotic progression and spore formation. This work helps to better understand the impact of chromatin on meiotic repair and the role of chromatin assembly factors

Full textThis work is devoted to the electrochemical synthesis of layered double hydroxides (LDH) thin films and to the development of enzymatic biosensors with amperometric detection, using these films as immobilization matrices of enzymes. Preliminary studies of LDH suspensions synthesis by neutralization of mixed divalent and trivalent metallic cations with sodium hydroxide were performed. The powders were characterized by FTIR spectroscopy and X-ray diffraction, and their compositions were determined by chemical titration and ICP-OES. Conditions for the formation of pure LDH were specified for several couples of divalent / trivalent cations, in the presence of bicarbonate ions or EDTA. The pH titration curves allow the determination of the best suited electrolyte compositions for the electrodeposition of LDHs films. Hydrotalcite or Pyroaurite thin films were obtained on conductive substrates (Pt, Au) from the increase of local pH induced by dissolved oxygen or water electrochemical reduction. The following parameters were studied, potential, current and reduction time. The linear electrochemical behaviour of these LDH-modified electrodes was verified for the oxidation of ferricyanide ions or H2O2 and NADH, the products resulting from bio-catalysed reactions. Two types of biosensors, for glucose or lactate determination, were elaborated by electrochemical co-deposition of LDH film and enzyme, glucose oxidase or lactate dehydrogenase. Amperometric sensitivities for glucose or lactate were studied as a function of preparation and operation parameters

Full textLayered Double Hydroxide (LDH) are positively charged lamellar materials with a general formula written as [Ni2+1-xAI3+x(OH)2], [AZ-x/z, yH2O], where A is a compensating interlayer anion. These materials are easy to synthesize with adjustable structural parameters. The first part of this work focuses on the mechanisms operating upon synthesis of these compounds. The experimental approach combines analyses at the local scale by EXAFS with analyses at the semi-local scale by X Ray Scattering and Transmission Electron Microscopy. The hydrolytic behavior of pure nickel chloride and mixed nickel-gallium solutions wàs investigated. Nickel salts hydrolysis proceeds through the initial formation of long fibers that are then dissolved to form nickel hydroxide platelets. Upon hydrolysis of a mixed nickel -gallium solution, gallium oxyhydroxide like colloids form first whereas nickel ions do not react. Upon pH increase, galliunJfcolloids are progressively replaced by LDH platelets through dissolution/reprecipitation. When synthesis is carried out by co-precipitation at constant pH, in the initial steps, aIl gallium atoms are incorporated jn a LDH phase whose stoichiometry differs from that corresponding to the initial conditions. SAXS experiments reveal the formation of fibrous colloids similar to those observed when nickel al one is hydrolyzed. Such fibrous species then dissolve which somehow adjusts the stoichiometry of the formed LDH. . AIl along the synthesis, part of nickel ions do not react and remain as monomers in the supematants. The second part deals with the hydration behavior of vriable charge Nil Al-sulfate LDHs that was investigated by combining i) water adsorption gravimetry measurements, ii) X-ray and neutron diffraction experiments under controlled water pressure and iii) Raman and infrared under controlled water pressure. The main " engine " for hydration is the ,interlayer anion whose interactions with the solid layer control the observed changes. For the high charge sample, anions, in a C3v, symmetry are linked to the layer through their apical oxygen atom. When water molecules are added, they move away from the layer to reach an situation of outer- sphere complex, that results in significant swelling of the structure. Ln. Jess charged LDHs, anions are linked more strongly to the layer. Vibrational spectroscopy results reveal that in these cases, the anions never reach an outer-sphere complex. Consequently, swelling is retarded or even nearly suppressed

Full textIn the context of European contemporary theatre, Ariane Mnouchkine and Peter Brook are indeed names to reckon with. Yet, this study goes beyond the individual recognition of each. Here, it is rather the echo of their interconnected work on the actor that is of interest. By comparing the approaches of Brook and Mnouchkine, this study will reveal that the actor-under-training today is oscillating between three dimensions: Translator, Creator and Being. As the nuances of this triple dimension are observed, especially in the context of four common axes that characterize the work of these two directors – the dialogue with foreign cultures, the valorization of the troupe, the quest of the universal and the influence of the Orient – a new orientation in the work of the modern actor seems to come into play. Under the sway of the above-mentioned forces, the actor's performance transforms. Evidently, while traversing the poetico-theatrical paradigm of our two practitioners, the actor-student experiences rare moments of renewed energy, otherwise called moments of grace. This study aims to capture the genesis of this creative state. The doubles of the actor that thus emerge – " femininity " for Mnouchkine and " androgyny " for Brook – take us irremediably beyond the simple heritage of the Occident, and toward larger (and universal) horizons that reach out to the Other, the Distant. To demonstrate an analogous discipline of actor-training in the work of these two theatre directors, a rapprochement has been suggested between the theatrical conception of Brook and the Indian/Hindu thought, on the one hand, and between the theatrical practice of Mnouchkine and the Japanese/Buddhist spirit, on the other. Apart from representing a parallel trajectory, this double concordance, Mnouchkine/Brook and Brook/India – Mnouchkine/ Japan, seeks to present above all a relationship of continuity in contiguity: wherein the Mnouchkien praxis reveals itself to be the twinning pedagogic aspect of Brook's discourse, nourishing it in indispensable ways. Finally, just as Artaud had envisaged the elevation of the transe as an integral part of the new theatrical paradigm, similarly, the practices of Brook and Mnouchkine have provided to the modern actor the elevation of trans: the uninterrupted research of the theatre and of oneself in infinite transhumance
