Abstract:
Abstract Introduction During the last decade, our national Joint Trauma System (JTS) has served as the reference body for trauma care throughout our military. The JTS has published 63 Clinical Practice Guidelines (CPGs) on its website to set standards and to provide guidance for deployed providers in the management of challenging clinical scenarios. Given that there is limited burn expertise in the military, the JTS CPGs are a major source of information for most providers. It has been possible to track CPG download activity for over a year. We hypothesized that assessment of download activity would reflect the relative value of JTS CPGs. In particular, we aimed to document the value of burn-related CPGs. Methods Download activity was determined from data pulled for jts.amedd.army.mil, utilizing Google’s Digital Analytics Program (DAP), for 27 Feb 2018 to 3 Sep 2019. After refining results from all of the military down to jts.amedd.army.mil, a search was then launched to determine the top activities on the JTS webpage. An additional refinement was conducted to establish search-date parameters. Data were exported into an Excel spreadsheet for further analysis. The data were analyzed for specific titles and numbers of downloads; those downloads consistently appearing at the top of the download activity were split out and detailed. Results Downloading was consistently the top “event” or tangible action on the site. In 17 months, total CPG downloads from the JTS website were 75,901. Burn-related CPGs and supporting documents (e.g. Lund-Browder chart; resuscitation flowsheet) were downloaded 6,177 times. The next most frequently downloaded CPG was the traumatic brain injury (TBI) CPG, which was downloaded 6,041 times. If each guideline had equal distribution of downloads, they would each be downloaded 1,205 times; burn-related CPGs were download 5 times more frequently than the mean. Conclusions This study emphasizes the importance of burn-related CPGs to providers throughout the global continuum of care. These providers frequently work in expeditionary, remote and austere environments without rapid access to specialty surgical expertise. The use of detailed CPGs can help bridge this gap. Applicability of Research to Practice This model can be used for remote rural areas nationally and internationally. Computer-based tracking of CPG and educational material downloads can, furthermore, be used to identify ongoing educational needs.

Abstract:
Podcasts used as supplemental material (PSM) and podcasts integrated into the curriculum (PIC) are complementing, extending, and transforming the traditional face-to-face classroom as well as blended and online courses. This paper examines podcast download frequency among students in foreign language and literature courses over a four-year period by using both students' digital literacy skills and the instructional use of the podcasts (whether PSM or PIC) as predictors. As it analyses four years of trend data between the Fall semester of 2007 and the Fall semester of 2011, the authors; study reveals that the download frequency among the PIC group was relatively higher than that of the PSM group. What's more, it shows that students' digital literacy moderated their frequency of download. This is consistent with previous findings that suggest that instructors can offer students an advantage by using thoughtfully planned and well-designed podcasting activities, which help their students hone the skills necessary for success in the second language (L2) teaching and learning environment.

Abstract:
Forcehimes argues that any argument concerning copyright law which favours the existence of public libraries will necessarily also justify the downloading of ebooks without the copyright owners’ authorisation. As the justification for copyright protection is an economic one, it is submitted that, economically, there is a material difference between permitting public libraries making physical books available and allowing such online distribution of ebooks. Prohibiting the online distribution of ebooks without the copyright holders' consent, while permitting access to physical books via public libraries, is a policy which, at present, is consistent with the rationale for copyright protection.

Abstract:
R is a very useful software in statistical analysis. Its open-source nature makes it easy for users to download and use it freely. Its relatively small size allows R to be installed and used on a laptop because it doesn't use much laptop memory. Users are also facilitated to learn statistical analysis using R because there are many learning resources available which are also easily accessible. But the existence and ease of this has not been widely known by users of statistical analysis. To further introduce R to the public using statistical analysis, R training was conducted through the community service program (PPM) of Sriwijaya University. In this training, the introduction of R along with its potential use and development was carried out in statistical analysis. Participants were guided while practicing. The material studied included downloading and installing R, adding packages, calling data, naming and determining variable values, as well as some simple statistical analyzes. Statistical analysis studied descriptive, regression, and ANOVA. During training, participants can already download, install, and use R in accordance with the training material. For further use according to the needs of the participants, they are given some reference materials contained in a flash disk. In addition participants were also shown how to search for the required syntax via the internet.

Abstract:
Teaching and learning activities, especially in Higher Education, from time to time develop along with the development of technology, especially information technology. Initially, the teaching and learning activities at the Faculty of Science and Technology of the Buddhist Dharma University (FST-UBD) used a manual system in the form of face-to-face class. The system (for several courses and meetings) developed into distance learning (e-learning) where lecturers and students did not meet in teaching and learning activities in the classroom but through the internet media. This distance learning system uses computer or laptop facilities. The e-learning system was developed into a mobile learning system, which is a distance learning system using an Android-based smartphone. In the mobile learning system, lecturers can provide lecture material and assignments to students. Students can view lecture material via cellphone and can download the material. Students can submit assignments to lecturers via cellphone. The University can provide information about the seminar to be held. Students can choose the seminar to be followed and can register for the seminar via cellphone. This application system can be run well and can help facilitate the process of teaching and learning activities for lecturers and students. Lecturers can upload material and assignments for students. Students can view / download material and submit assignments to the lecturer. The university can provide information about the seminar and the seminar registration process.

Abstract:
Narratives of human evolution place considerable emphasis upon human cognitive development resulting from the evolution of brain architecture and witnessed by the production of ‘symbolic’ material culture. Recent work has modified the narrative to the extent that cognitive development is treated as the product of humanity's ability to download certain aspects of brain functionality, such as the storage of information, into external media. This article questions the centrality given to the history of brain architecture as determinate of human cognition by rejecting the widespread assumption that cognition trades in representations, either stored internally in the brain or downloaded externally into cultural media. The alternative, offered here, is that human cognitive development was constructed through the development of joint attention made possible by the anatomical development of hominins and that this sustained a shared empathy between social agents in their practical understanding of the qualities of materiality.

Abstract:
Library services to blind and visually impaired readers are changing as computer technology makes it possible to deliver reading material in a variety of new media formats. The Blind Foundation of New Zealand surveyed its library clients to discover the reading formats they currently used and which ones they preferred. The survey also asked questions about their access to computer technology and their personal assessment of their technological competency. There was a particular focus in the survey on the DAISY format and on services offering books by download. Analysis of the survey data shows that access to computer technology roughly matches the national profile. Use of computers generally declines with age, with iPhones and iPads being the exception. The DAISY format is both the most used and the most preferred format for reading, though not so overwhelmingly as to suggest other formats can be dropped. Computer competency declines with age, but among the younger respondents there seemed to be both the ability and the confidence to download books, and some were already using that service provided by the library. The library will make further investigations into why relatively few clients currently use the download service, and how clients envisage using such a service in the future.

Abstract:
Organic-inorganic hybrid materials offer a wide range of interesting properties, especially due to the iono-covalent nature of the organic-inorganic bonds that leads to polymers with healing properties. In polymers, the inorganic component can play two main roles: network modifier or network former. The hybrid materials presented here are modified polyacrylates permanently cross-linked via metal-ligand bonds. Thanks to the exchangeability of these bonds within the networks, these particular materials show thermally induced healing properties. Furthermore, the inorganic part reinforces the polymers. Moreover, the hybrid organic-inorganic approach allows by tuning the strength of the metal-ligand bonds to have healing properties at different temperatures from room temperature to 150°C. Hereby, we have investigated the healing properties of polyacrylates dynamically cross-linked with different organic ligands able to complex metallic oxides. The adaptability of the networks has been highlighted by creep test and the efficiency of healing properties has been investigated by mechanical tests (tensile tests and DMTA) on both crude and repaired materials. Thereby, each system exhibits a critical temperature for healing properties that differs from the others and this temperature strongly depends on the strength of the metal-ligand bond at the hybrid interface

Abstract:
Children's Nurses require excellent clinical skills to provide high quality care to children and young people across a range of different ages. After the first year of their training, children's nursing students must master skills of increasing complexity whilst developing clinical judgement and confidence. Therefore, it is vital that links are made to children's biology and development, family needs, legal issues and problem solving but until now, it has been hard to find all this in one place. Clinical Skills for Children's Nursing is designed for children's and general nursing students in second year onwards to facilitate the transition from closely supervised beginners, to qualified professionals. By clearly explaining essential principles, evidence and special considerations, this text helps students to build up their confidence, not just in performing skills, but also in decision-making in readiness for registration and beyond. Step-by-step guides to performing core and advanced procedures are presented in tables for easy comprehension and revision, illustrated by photographs and drawings. Each skill draws on the available evidence base, which is updated regularly on the accompanying Online Resource Centre. Uniquely, this text develops students' critical thinking skills and ability to deliver child centred care by providing clear links to anatomical, physiological and child development milestones as well as regular nursing alerts which help prevent readers from making common mistakes. Abstract In order for Conservation Agriculture (CA) to reach and impact small-scale farmers in Sub-Saharan Africa (SSA), CA technologies need to be adapted to suit the diversity of agroecological zones and cultures present on the continent. Training materials for CA promotion need to be similarly customizable to help extension staff and farmers develop their own, context-appropriate solutions from among the many possible CA approaches. From 2015 through 2018, a diverse set of farmer-level training materials for CA and complementary technologies was developed and field-tested by Canadian Foodgrains Bank partners. Together with a participatory, adaptive training methodology, these materials have enhanced the effectiveness of CA promotion, and they have been made available for copyright-free download in English, French, Kiswahili, Portuguese and Amharic (http://caguide.act-africa.org/, accessed 6 August 2021). This paper describes the process of developing these materials as well as challenges and constraints to their utilization.

Abstract:
At HTW Berlin material science is taught to first year students in combination with laboratory exercises on materials testing. Still, basic knowledge upon theory is necessary to work practically during lab sessions. Therefore homework reading is assigned and additionally lecture films guide students through the laboratory routine prior to class. Initially inspired by students these lecture films were conducted during a one term student semester project according to the peer-to-peer approach supervised by lecturers and film experts. Since establishing the lecture films in summer semester 2015 time consuming explanations were redundant and the students were prepared better gaining more knowledge during practical work than those who did not have access to the films. After watching the introductory films download activities increased and online lectures were prepared carefully. However, the initial increase in final test results is not valid taken into account all grades from 2015 up to now. Still, even if the academic output is not better with our without the implementation of lecture films, the better handling of laboratory equipment and the more smoothly running lab courses account for at least a part time success.

Abstract:
Aim/Purpose: The COVID-19 pandemic demanded an immediate and massive adaptation of higher education to distance learning. Teachers had to transform from face-to-face to distance teaching, with insufficient pedagogical and technological knowledge and resources. This study aims to capture higher education faculty experiences in the very early stages of the crisis-prompted transition into synchronous distance education in order to obtain a broader view on the faculty’s perspectives (benefits, challenges and insights) on distance teaching through synchronous online environments. Background: Although online teaching and learning have been part of higher education teaching for more than two decades, many instructors found themselves teaching remotely for the first time and facing new and unpredicted challenges. Methodology: This study explored and analyzed an e-mail thread discourse between teachers in a higher education institute, two months after “going online” due to the COVID-19 pandemic. A singular case study was conducted, and a retrospective and snapshot case study approach was used. Data analysis was an iterative exploratory process of going back and forth the empirical material, resulting in the construction of categories, then themes, and finally a conceptual framework was developed. Contribution: The findings contribute the knowledge domain of implementation of immediate and massive online teaching and learning from the faculty perspective. Findings: Two main focal points, students and teachers, were encountered. Three main recurring themes were identified associated with both students and teachers: Convenience, Ethical Issues, and Insights for the future. Two themes were identified associated with faculty: Pedagogy and Tools, and Resources. In addition, two themes were identified for students: Attendance and Responses. Each of the themes was decomposed into several aspects. Recommendations for Practitioners: Higher education institutions and stakeholders should build a campus wide e-learning agenda including appropriate infrastructure and professional development for the future. Recommendations for Researchers: The study presented a conceptual model based on qualitative case study methodology. The impact and influence of each of the components of the model should be further researched and measured using quantitative methodologies. Impact on Society: Understanding the benefits and challenges of distance learning from the faculty perspectives in order to implement better distance learning strategies. Future Research: The impact and influence of each of the components of the model should be further researched and measured using quantitative methodologies. *** NOTE: This Proceedings paper was revised and published in the journal Issues in Informing Science and Information Technology, 16, 121-140. Abstract:

Abstract:
Abstract The widespread growth of additive manufacturing, a field with a complex informatic “digital thread”, has helped fuel the creation of design repositories, where multiple users can upload distribute, and download a variety of candidate designs for a variety of situations. Additionally, advancements in additive manufacturing process development, design frameworks, and simulation are increasing what is possible to fabricate with AM, further growing the richness of such repositories. Machine learning offers new opportunities to combine these design repository components’ rich geometric data with their associated process and performance data to train predictive models capable of automatically assessing build metrics related to AM part manufacturability. Although design repositories that can be used to train these machine learning constructs are expanding, our understanding of what makes a particular design repository useful as a machine learning training dataset is minimal. In this study we use a metamodel to predict the extent to which individual design repositories can train accurate convolutional neural networks. To facilitate the creation and refinement of this metamodel, we constructed a large artificial design repository, and subsequently split it into sub-repositories. We then analyzed metadata regarding the size, complexity, and diversity of the sub-repositories for use as independent variables predicting accuracy and the required training computational effort for training convolutional neural networks. The networks each predict one of three additive manufacturing build metrics: (1) part mass, (2) support material mass, and (3) build time. Our results suggest that metamodels predicting the convolutional neural network coefficient of determination, as opposed to computational effort, were most accurate. Moreover, the size of a design repository, the average complexity of its constituent designs, and the average and spread of design spatial diversity were the best predictors of convolutional neural network accuracy.
