Abstract:
The Android operating system, originally intended for smartphone devices, is now finding its way into cars and other vehicles. While the Android system already implements support for system updates, it is not suitable for use in the automotive domain. It is not compatible with modern automotive standards for diagnostic communication such as ISO 14229: Unified Diagnostic Services (UDS). This means that new tools, procedures and software would be needed to allow an Android device to be updated by a service technician in a repair shop or on the field. A better approach would be to add support for automotive diagnostic communication in Android. This way, the tools and supporting infrastructure that already exist can still be used. We have developed a solution for diagnostic communication on Android that is both modular and compatible with existing automotive standards. By using the standard ISO 13400: Diagnostic communication over Internet Protocol (DoIP), this solution enables both updating the system software on the Android device itself, as well as diagnostic communication with the ECUs on the vehicle’s internal CAN network. Thus, an existing diagnostic port based on a slower communication protocol such as CAN or J1587 could theoretically be replaced completely by the Android device’s Ethernet port. Finally, we have evaluated the performance of our implementation under various settings and conditions. These include varying the maximum size of a diagnostic message, different network settings, downloading software over a Wi-Fi link, and downloading data to multiple devices simultaneously.

Beck, Stephen. "Full-Scale Tilt Rotor Download Reduction." Thesis, The University of Arizona, 2013. http://hdl.handle.net/10150/293744.

Full text
Abstract:
A large-scale model of a tiltrotor wing and flap was built and tested to determine how the size and spacing of fluidic actuators for active flow control should be scaled up from laboratory size models to aircraft size. Flow control was provided by sweeping jet actuators mounted in the flap follower. Chordwise pressure data was collected through pressure taps located along the model centerline. The maximum flap deflection to which the flow could be attached with actuation was compared to previous experiments on a 10% 3D model. An ideal actuator spacing was found and the momentum coefficient was comparable between the various sized models. These results were used in the design of an industrial wind tunnel-scale model of a wing built for cruise and tiltrotor-like download testing. These tests have shown that actuators located in the flap follower are effective in both the hover and cruise phases of flight.

Considering photography as a communicative phenomenon, based on a cartographic perspective associated to Actor-Network Theory by Bruno Latour (2012), this research enable us to outline the social, visual and sensitive bonds that highlight the modes of existence of lomographic experience. Here, reporting the modes of production and circulation of lomography, we were able to enter these networks of sociotechnical mediations that draw its practice, as well as we can perceive the way we build in the present the history of images in this context. Among the diversity of elements that reorder our ways of seeing, with the notion of anachronism (AGAMBEN, 2009; BENJAMIN; 1994; DIDI-HUBERMAN, 2010; RANCIÈRE, 2012) this cartographic gesture took us either to look at the relational and communicative aspect of the lomo image and to understand the construction of its visuality regarding the assembly of heterogeneous times by which it is made. This is a process where forms of presentation and current values of lomos use reveal within the image its moving characteristics. Where the visible is dislocated from its prior contexts, socially renegotiating the conditions of its possibilities in the present and where in so doing, it can be redimesioned

Abstract:
For traditional web servers, available bandwidth decreases as the number of clients increases. This can cause servers to serve files slowly or to become completely overwhelmed when load grows too high. BitTorrent is a peer-to-peer solution to this problem, but it requires manual configuration for each file to be delivered this way. We develop a new system that integrates peer-to-peer file delivery with traditional client-server downloads. Clients initially attempt to download a file from a web server; if this is too slow, they transition to peer-to-peer delivery. Experiments with a prototype system show that it serves up to 30x faster than traditional web servers.

Abstract:
Internet has dominated the modern communication and information exchange and it is growing enormously day by day. Initially it is designed to off?er various applications like World Wide Web (WWW), Electronic Mail (E-Mail) and File Transfer (FTP). WWW has become very popular and today, Web traffic constitutes 70-80% in global Internet traffic. Web traffic generates by the end users, when they request for a web page. The web page transfers between various Web servers via different service networks to the end users. Web traffic has become very significant in the present world and the service providers have to offer best service to the customers. Quality of Service (QoS) is a measure of describing the performance of the service. Quality of Experience (QoE) explains the user perceived performance and it is subjective in nature. QoE influences the user satisfaction level, so QoS has to ensure to promote better QoE. User perceived QoE depends on page download time and it is an important parameter in evaluating the performance of web service. In this work we try to correlate the web page download times at both application-level and network-level. In particular, when there is a considerable delay in the network, we tried to correlate the application perceived download time with network-level download time. We explained the difference between application and network download times and how it varies with the applied delay. This work also shows how the download times at both levels are related to each other and their coefficient of correlation.

Abstract:
In a highly mobile and networked society the need to download large amounts of data on a mobile network is inevitable. This thesis analyzes the predictability of download speeds in mobile networks to be able to schedule downloads while in areas with high download speeds. This decreases the download time and thus the energy wasted downloading. The data analyzed is from Bredbandskollen. We find that in areas of 200 x 200 meters the download speed is easiest to predict due to a low covariance. We also find that areas with high average download speed are more likely to have neighboring areas with similar download speed than areas with low average download speed, making it easier to predict the download speed when moving between such locations. Finally, we show paths in urban areas where a user can move long distances and experience similar download speeds.

Abstract:
Abstract In visible light communication (VLC), light emitting diodes (LEDs) are used as transmitters; the air is the transmission medium and the photodiodes are used for receivers. This is often referred to as light fidelity (Li-Fi). In this thesis, we provide the methodology to evaluate the performance of VLC hotspot networks in the context of data downloading on the move scenarios by using throughput-distance relationship models. In this context, first we study the different properties of optical transceiver elements, noise sources, characterization and modelling of artificial light interference, different link topologies and then we introduce the throughput-distance relationship model. Secondly, the analytically based throughput-distance relationship has been developed for evaluating the performance of VLC hotspot networks in indoor environment in both day and night conditions. Simulation results reveal that background noise has a significant impact on the performance of VLC hotspots. As expected, in both indoor and outdoor environments the VLC hotspot performs better at night than during day. The performance of VLC hotspot networks is also quantified in terms of received file size at different bit error rate requirements and velocities of the mobile user. Thirdly, we study the performance of hybrid (Radio-Optical) WLAN-VLC hotspot and compare its performance with stand-alone VLC-only or WLAN-only hotspot cases. In this case, we also consider the data download on the move scenarios in an indoor environment for a single-user as well as for multi-user cases. In this hybrid WLAN-VLC hotspot, both the WLAN and the VLC are characterized by their throughput and communication range. Simulations have been performed to evaluate the performance of such network for data downloading on the move scenario by taking into account performance metrics such as filesize, average connectivity and system throughput. Simulation results reveal that the considered hybrid WLAN-VLC performs always better than stand-alone VLC-only or WLAN-only hotspot both for a single and multi-user cases. Finally, this thesis analyses the feasibility and potential benefits of using hybrid radio-optical wireless systems. In this respect, cooperative communication using optical relays are also introduced in order to increase the coverage and energy efficiency of the battery operated device. Potential benefits are identified as service connectivity and energy efficiency of battery operated device in an indoor environment. Simulation results reveal that user connectivity and energy efficiency depend on user density, coverage range ratio between single-hop and multi-hop, relay probabilities and mobility of the user
Näiden verkkojen suorituskykyä arvioitaessa on tehty joukko tietokonesimulointeja verkossa tapahtuvasta tietojen lataamisesta liikkeessä ottamalla huomioon suorituskyvyn mittarit kuten tiedoston koko, keskimääräinen yhteyden kesto ja saavutettu läpäisy.

The objective of this project will contribute to the market study of mobile applications in Portugal. By understanding and interpreting feedback from Portuguese users the developers, designers, commercials and everyone involved in releasing applications will be able to investigate and invest more in aspects, configurations and features that users find to be most important and relevant, thus leading to both team's success and user satisfaction. To this end, a study was carried out through the formulation of a survey, where variables were based on the general preferences of users analysis and also based on the international standards created by the ISO organization, specifically ISO / IEC 9126-1: 2000 and ISO / IEC 25012. Subsequently, a statistical analysis was performed using two softwares, the Microsoft Office Excel and the IBM SPSS Statistcs 25, which allowed the information to be organized, as well as find the results of the tests and statistical analyzes. It was possible to conclude that for the Portuguese users, detailed comments are more impactful than emotional comments, that the overall evaluation of an application has more value than comments, and that ISO / IEC 9126-1: 2000 is most important for the evaluation of an application.

Abstract:
In the information age, the growth in availability of both technology and exploit kits have continuously contributed in a large volume of websites being compromised or set up with malicious intent. The issue of drive-by-download attacks formulate a high percentage (77%) of the known attacks against client systems. These attacks originate from malicious web-servers or compromised web-servers and attack client systems by pushing malware upon interaction. Within the detection and intelligence gathering area of research, high-interaction honeypot approaches have been a longstanding and well-established technology. These are however not without challenges: analysing the entirety of the world wide web using these approaches is unviable due to time and resource intensiveness. Furthermore, the volume of data that is generated as a result of a run-time analysis of the interaction between website and an analysis environment is huge, varied and not well understood. The volume of malicious servers in addition to the large datasets created as a result of run-time analysis are contributing factors in the difficulty of analysing and verifying actual malicious behaviour. The work in this thesis attempts to overcome the difficulties in the analysis process of log files to optimise malicious and anomaly behaviour detection. The main contribution of this work is focused on reducing the volume of data generated from run-time analysis to reduce the impact of noise within behavioural log file datasets. This thesis proposes an alternate approach that uses an expert lead approach to filtering benign behaviour from potentially malicious and unknown behaviour. Expert lead filtering is designed in a risk-averse method that takes into account known benign and expected behaviours before filtering the log file. Moreover, the approach relies upon behavioural investigation as well as potential for 5 system compromisation before filtering out behaviour within dynamic analysis log files. Consequently, this results in a significantly lower volume of data that can be analysed in greater detail. The proposed filtering approach has been implemented and tested in real-world context using a prudent experimental framework. An average of 96.96% reduction in log file size has been achieved which is transferable to behaviour analysis environments. The other contributions of this work include the understanding of observable operating system interactions. Within the study of behaviour analysis environments, it was concluded that run-time analysis environments are sensitive to application and operating system versions. Understanding key changes in operating systems behaviours within Windows is an unexplored area of research yet Windows is currently one of the most popular client operating system. As part of understanding system behaviours for the creation of behavioural filters, this study undertakes a number of experiments to identify the key behaviour differences between operating systems. The results show that there are significant changes in core processes and interactions which can be taken into account in the development of filters for updated systems. Finally, from the analysis of 110,000 potentially malicious websites, typical attacks are explored. These attacks actively exploited the honeypot and offer knowledge on a section of the active web-based attacks faced in the world wide web. Trends and attack vectors are identified and evaluated.

Abstract:
The download duration of peer-to-peer overlay networks is highly dependent upon the client's selection of candidate node-servers and the algorithms used in that process. Recent findings suggest that as node-server network capacity increases the deviation from the average total download time can vary as much as 300 percent between selection algorithms. This work investigated the current selection algorithms based upon chunk size, parallel connections, permanent connection, and time based switching. The time based switching algorithm is a variation of the chunk based algorithm. Time based switching enables a client to randomly select a new node-server regardless of connection speed at predetermined time slots. Simulations indicate a 41% percent decrease in download time when compared to chunk based switching. The effects of inserting chokepoints in the time based switching algorithm were investigated. This work investigated improving a client's download performance by preemptively releasing a client from a poor performing node-server. To achieve this, the client will gather a peer-to-peer network overlay capacity from a global catalog. This information will be used to seed a client choke algorithm. Clients will then be able to continually update a local capacity average based upon past download sessions. This local average will be used to make a comparison between the current download session and the previously calculated average. A margin has been introduced to allow the client to vary from the average calculated capacity. The client will perform comparisons against chokepoints and make performance decisions to depart a node-server that does not meet minimum capacity standards. Experimental results in this research demonstrated the effectiveness of applying a choking algorithm to improve upon client download duration as well as increasing the accuracy of download duration estimates. In the single downloader scenario, the choke based algorithm improved performance up to 44% in extreme congestion and a more modest 13% under normal conditions. The multiple client scenarios yielded on average a 1% decrease in client download duration along with a 44% increase download homogeneity. Furthermore, the results indicate that a client based choking algorithm can decrease overall peer-to-peer network congestion buy improving upon client selection of node-servers.

Abstract:
This thesis dissertation presents background push Content Download Services as an efficient mechanism to deliver pre-produced television content through existing broadcast networks. Nowadays, network operators dedicate a considerable amount of network resources to live streaming live, through both broadcast and unicast connections. This service offering responds solely to commercial requirements: Content must be available anytime and anywhere. However, from a strictly academic point of view, live streaming is only a requirement for live content and not for pre-produced content. Moreover, broadcasting is only efficient when the content is sufficiently popular. The services under study in this thesis use residual capacity in broadcast networks to push popular, pre-produced content to storage capacity in customer premises equipment. The proposal responds only to efficiency requirements. On one hand, it creates value from network resources otherwise unused. On the other hand, it delivers popular pre-produced content in the most efficient way: through broadcast download services. The results include models for the popularity and the duration of television content, valuable for any research work dealing with file-based delivery of television content. Later, the thesis evaluates the residual capacity available in broadcast networks through empirical studies. These results are used in simulations to evaluate the performance of background push content download services in different scenarios and for different applications. The evaluation proves that this kind of services can become a great asset for the delivery of television content

Peer-to-peer (P2P) applications have become a popular method for obtaining digital content. Recent research has shown that the amount of time spent downloading from a poor performing peer effects the total download duration. Current peer selection strategies attempt to limit the amount of time spent downloading from a poor performing peer, but they do not use both advanced knowledge and service capacity after the connection has been made to aid in peer selection. Advanced knowledge has traditionally been obtained from methods that add additional overhead to the P2P network, such as polling peers for service capacity information, using round trip time techniques to calculate the distance between peers, and by using tracker peers. This work investigated the creation of a new download strategy that replaced the random selection of peers with a method that selects server peers based on historic service capacity and ISP in order to further reduce the amount of time needed to complete a download session. The results of this new historic based peer selection strategy have shown that there are benefits in using advanced knowledge to select peers and only replacing the worst performing peers. This new approach showed an average download duration improvement of 16.6% in the single client simulation and an average cross ISP traffic reduction of 55.17% when ISPs were participating in cross ISP throttling. In the multiple clients simulation the new approach showed an average download duration improvement of 53.31% and an average cross ISP traffic reduction of 88.83% when ISPs were participating in cross ISP throttling. This new approach also significantly improved the consistency of the download duration between download sessions allowing for the more accurate prediction of download times.

Abstract:
Peer-to-peer networks are a common methodology used for content delivery and data sharing on the Internet. The duration of any particular download session is highly dependent on the capacity of the node servers selected as source peers. Recent investigations have shown that specific total download times may deviate significantly from average total download times. This work investigates a novel approach to selecting download server peers that is intended to reduce average total download times and minimize variance of those times from the overall average of download session durations. Typical algorithms used in today's Peer-to-Peer (P2P) systems have improved from simply connecting to a single source peer for the entire download session to an approach where the download content is divided into chunks and a randomly selected source peer is chosen as the source for each chunk. This limits the possibility of an extremely long download session due to the selection of a low capacity download source peer. Prior work has demonstrated that it is better to divide the download session into time slices and download as much as possible from a randomly selected source peer within each time interval rather than staying connected to a poorly performing source peer for the entire time it takes to download a chunk of the source content. This approach minimizes the time spent with a poorly performing source peer and allows the client to move on to a potentially better performing source after a specific, limited interval. Other work has shown that by keeping a history of node performance, it is possible to recognize a poorly performing partner early in a time slice and depart to a new, and hopefully better performing partner, prior to the completion of a time slice (referred to as "choking" a poorly performing peer). These approaches have been shown to reduce average download times and minimize the variance in duration between download sessions. Prior work has also shown that there is value in the use of parallel download streams. As long as the number of streams is kept small (i.e. 4 to 6), minimizing the overhead of maintaining numerous streams and saturation of the available incoming network bandwidth, average download time can be further reduced. The algorithm described in this investigation uses time-based source peer switching and maintains a small number of parallel download streams. At the end of each time interval, it does not randomly replace all source peers but keeps those source peers that are performing relatively better and replaces those performing relatively poorly with randomly selected new source partners. In this way, as the download progresses, parallel downloading typically progresses from a set of better and better performing source partners, therefore reducing average download times and reducing overall variance between download times. This approach has been shown in simulations to reduce average download times by nearly 20% over parallel versions of basic time-based downloads and 8.7% over time-based downloads with the addition of "choking" poorly performing partners. As file sizes increase and/or the heterogeneity of source node service capacities increase, the benefits of this approach to source peer replacement also increases. These improvements are gained while maintaining or further limiting the variance in performance between download sessions. The reduction in average download times and the decrease in variance between download sessions provided by this approach will improve the user experience for users of P2P content distribution systems. This approach should also be applicable to other data distribution systems such as distributed file systems.

The arrival of Digital TV has brought the possibility to broadcasters create interactive programs. For this, applications should be sent to the TV station via the standard DSMCC carousel. This standard enables data to be sent cyclically, so that any time you turn on the TV, it can receive all data transmitted. However, the way each interactive application will be available on the carousel has an impact on the users waiting time. The carousel can be modified to prioritize some applications, and so give more satisfaction to most users and also increase the profits of the station. It is not been defined yet a model of how to handle the priority of applications. Current work suggests an innovative business model, seeking to satisfy users, the broadcaster and the contractor. With the priorities of the applications, a new problem arises, termed here as the Download Time Variability Problem (DTVP). It defines the way that the carousel should be created to minimize the users waiting times. This is a difficult problem, which makes the use of exact techniques unapplicable for large instances. The paper proposes the use of GRASP and ILS metaheuristics to solve the problem.

DySCAS is an automotive research project with the purpose of providing a future standard within the vehicle electronics layer satisfying the needs of both today's and tomorrow's automotive producers. This master thesis was carried out at Enea during the fall of 2007 with the purpose of investigating the implementation of software download through an external and secure communication link to every node in a DySCAS system. Furthermore it aimed at investigating how policies, which are a part of making the system behave autonomously, should be managed in the DySCAS project when it came to storing these in a repository. Finally, the AUTOSAR standardization, another automotive project, was studied for an investigation to be made about which requirements that should be set on the architecture of DySCAS, for it to co-exist with the AUTOSAR standardization. After an initial literature study, addressing the issues presented above, a design of the software system was carried out followed by an implementation and testing of this software. A general design of a system supporting software load, allowing both the replacement of one middleware component as well as the update of an entire node running in the DySCAS middleware, has been presented. In the subsequent implementation the possibility of using the CAN network to upgrade the software running on one or more DySCAS nodes with the help of an externally connected "upgrading node" has been explored and successfully implemented in the demonstrator platform. Furthermore, a Repository Service , using Enea's Polyhedra real-time database as the underlying repository, has been designed and implemented in the DySCAS demonstrator platform at Enea. The implemented software component supports the storage of policies and context information and thus aids the system in the objective of behaving autonomously. The Repository Service also provides the DySCAS system with a general storage facility, allowing other parts of the middleware or applications running on top of the middleware to store data. Finally, a design of how DySCAS and AUTOSAR should be elaborated to t together in one bigger system has been presented.

Carasquilla, Uriel J. "Reducing the cumulative file download time and variance in a P2P overlay via proximity based peer selection." NSUWorks, 2013. http://nsuworks.nova.edu/gscis_etd/112.

Full text
Abstract:
The time it takes to download a file in a peer-to-peer (P2P) overlay network is dependent on several factors. These factors include the quality of the network between peers (e.g. packet loss, latency, and link failures), distance, peer selection technique, and packet loss due to Internet Service Providers (ISPs) engaging in traffic shaping. Recent research shows that P2P download time is adversely impacted by the presence of distant peers, particularly when traffic goes across an ISP that could be engaging in P2P traffic throttling activities. It has also been observed that additional delays are introduced when distant candidate nodes for exchanging data are included during the formation of a P2P network overlay. Researchers have shifted their attention to the mechanism for peer selection. They started questioning the random technique because it ignores the location of nodes in the topology of the underlying physical network. Therefore, selecting nodes for interaction in a distributed system based on their position in the network continues to be an active area of research. The goal of this work was to reduce the cumulative file download time and variance for the majority of participating peers in a P2P network by using a peer selection mechanism that favors nearby nodes. In this proposed proximity strategy, the Internet address space is separated by IP blocks that belong to different Autonomous Systems (AS). IP blocks are further broken up into subsets named zones. Each zone is given a landmark (a.k.a. beacon), for example routers or DNS servers, with a known geographical location. At the time peers joined the network, peers were grouped into zones based on their geographical distance to the selected beacons. Peers that end up in the same zone were put at the top of the list of available nodes for interactions during the formation of the overlay. Experiments were conducted to compare the proposed proximity based peer selection strategy to the random peer selection strategy. The results indicate that the proximity technique outperforms the random approach for peer selection in a network with low packet loss and latency and also in a more realistic network subject to packet loss, traffic shaping and long distances. However, this improved performance came at the cost of additional memory (230 megabytes) and to a lesser extent some additional CPU cycles to run the additional subroutines needed to group peers into zones. The framework and algorithms developed for this work made it possible to implement a fully functioning prototype that implements the proximity strategy. This prototype enabled high fidelity testing with a real client implementation in real networks including the Internet. This made it possible to test without having to rely exclusively on event-driven simulations to prove the hypothesis.

This study aims to discuss the mobile application users’ relationship between source of information and user's perceived value. And what will cuse to source of information and user's perceived value in different demographic variables. Most users think information as a fact, and have tend to reference the information. The information sources even will affect to an application users’ download evaluation decisions. However, the perceived value will further affect the users to use applications’ willing. Therefore, this study wants to discuss the influence of two variables, "source of information" and "perceived value" to the mobile application users’ download intention. This study was used investigated by the questionnaire and network questionnaire. Survey was in 2014 during April 20 to May 20 for one month. We got 610 valid questionnaires and 236 internet questionnaires. After reliability analysis, the Cronbach's α values are all above 0.8, shows the good reliability. Some suggests are proposed from these results.

Mobile gaming now accounts for one of the top consumer behaviors on mobile device with estimates of 15billion market value by 2015. The goal of this study is to explore factors affecting mobile device users to download game apps based on the Unified Theory of Acceptance and Use of Technology(UTAUT) model while considering the moderating effects of game experience. Two of the constructs of UTAUT, effort expectancy(EE) and social influence(SI) are adopted and two additional constructs, game review and game popularity are developed..Particularly, this study investigates the role of personality factors in the UTAUT model. 475 participants completed an online survey and analysis of Moment Structures (AMOS) was used to test the measurement and structural model. The results show that the Big –Five personality traits are significant predictors of downloading game apps.EE, normative SI,game review and game popularity also have significantly postive effects on download intention while game-download intention is significantly postively related to download behavior. This study extends the UTAUT model by adding more constextual variables to understand mobile game users’ download intention and behavior. Theoretical and practical implications are also discussed.

In Japan, where its market of music is only second to USA, the sales of the physical goods has reached its peak in 1998 by 607.5 billion Yen, followed by a steady down fall. On the other hand, although the scale of music download service haven’t reach one eighth of the sales of physical goods, it grows in an amazingly pace steadily. Under such circumstances, early Japanese record companies took a negative attitude since the music download service didn’t go well, and also in the fear of the sale of intangible goods may affect the sale of physical goods. When entering growth stage, the lack of numbers of goods, higher price and inconvenience comparing with the Western market, had limited the development of Japanese companies. There are several particularities of Japanese market of music download service. First of all, due to the early popularity of mobile Internet and improvement of mobile phone’s capability, downloading music by mobile phone had become the mainstream of the market. Secondly, most company offer only download by track before Napster entered the market, and finally, because of the complexity of copyright’s consignment, its digital right management is more rigid than its counter part in the west. In the mean time, when Western companies fought their way into the Japanese market, the key point of Japanese company is to raise their service quality, make good use of their own core competitively, and more over, to combine their software and hardware and make it their own advantage. This study is to explicate the overview of Japanese market of music download service, and to discuss the music download business in Japan by analyze current companies strategy by Strategies for Business System Design.

Drive-by download is a sort of network attack which uses different techniques to plant malicious codes in their computers. It makes the traditional intrusion detection systems and firewalls nonfunctional in the reason that those devices could not detect web-based threats. The Crawler-based approach has been proposed by many studies to discover drive-by download sites. However, the Crawler-based approach could not simulate the real user behavior of web browsing when drive-by download attack happens. Therefore, this study proposes a new approach to detect drive-by download by sniffing HTTP flow. This study uses reputation system to improve the efficiency of client honeypots, and adjusts client honeypots to process the raw data of HTTP flow. In the experiment conducted in real network environment, this study show the performance of a single client honeypot could reach average 560,000 HTTP success access log per day. Even in the peak traffic, this mechanism reduced the process time to 22 hours, and detected drive-by download sites that users were actually browsing. Reputation system in this study is applicable to varieties of domain names because it does not refer to online WHOIS database. It established classification model on machine learning in 12 features. The correct classification rate of the reputation system applied in this study is 90.9%. Compared with other Reputation System studies, this study not only extract features from DNS A-Type but also extract features from DNS NS-Type. The experiment results show the Error Rate of the new features from DNS NS-Type is only 19.03%.

We often see the device that broadcast the advertisement, for example the advertising machine in the lift or the shopping mall, and the most common way to change the file in the device is by the manpower at present. It can’t deal with the urgent state and wastes human resources. In this thesis, we propose a protocol and implement a server to control the remote devices. It can overcome the inconvenience of audio-visual file transfer, and the urgent state can be dealt with. The audio-visual materials are transmitted to the advertising device through the network, and the policies which the control center defined are conveyed to each machine through the network too, do not need to change the files artificially. The server we proposed offers the administrator to define the policies to make the advertising device broadcasting on schedule, and manage the relevant audio-visual materials with the function that modify immediately. Let the remote devices to download the policies and relevant audio-visual files, and broadcast relevant audio-visual files according to the administrator’s demand, avoid operating manually. We have to define the policies and the communication protocol between server and devices. The devices only need to update the relevant materials regularly through the network to achieve the goals of remote control and dealing with the emergency, for example halting broadcasting, or inserting text to marquee.

Provisioning of video streaming service in Mobile P2P networks is challenged by many facts in transmission, such as high data loss rate, burst loss, unstable connectivity, link and peer host heterogeneity. This thesis addresses these transport issues by proposing two novel schemes, statistical download (SD) and blockless interleaving (BI), which cooperatively work with UEP-FEC channel coding. SD improves the successful rate of data download by exploiting multi-source download according to a RTT-based probability model. BI conducts different interleaving policies of data download from respective source peers according to the associated channel loss process. Simulation results show that even the system presents high volatility and heterogeneity, when the size grows into large, SD can improve on-time data rate with moderate traffic overheads. Meanwhile, BI can improve the error recovery performance of UEP-FEC by eliminating the packet loss correlation. It turns out that the video continuity is significantly improved.

The context of affordable and pervasive Internet applications enables online music as an innovative product thanks to the provision of capabilities in downloading the compressed data files. New entrants in this emerging market encounter the stiuation of tough competion as well as promising perspective where end-users are willing to pay for download-music. To win the market success, players should do their best to understand customers needs and wants, so as to explore the key success factors underlying the appropriate business model. Therefore, the objective of this study is as follows : 1. Utilizing the Fuzzy AHP approach to determine the key success factors for the online music download business. 2. Developing the performance assessment scheme as a decision support tool. The outcome of this study indicats that “options on music selection” ranks the top among all success factors, followed by “sound quality” and “variety of music type”. Attributes such as “affordable fee” and “easy-to-acess interface” are also important. Besides, “non-interference music downloading” and “music available on demand” also account for the attraction to users.
