The emergence and transmission of drug resistant strains of Mycobacterium tuberculosis (Mtb) calls for urgency in understanding the barriers to effective treatment. Here we developed a chemostat cultivation system to measure the mycobacterial mutation rate during periods of slow growth versus fast growth. In this thesis a stator resistance estimation scheme for field oriented controlled motors is proposed and tested in both simulations and experiments. An estimated 30% of the faults in Induction Machine (IM) are related to its stator. These faults are mostly in the form of an Inter-Turn Short Circuit (ITSC) fault i.e., when two winding inside the stator of IM are shorted due to insulation failure. However, ITSC fault can be avoided by detecting them in advance and then scheduling the maintenance of the IM. A pilot study was initially undertaken using a 38 mm pile to check the proposed static and dynamic instrumentation. A sophisticated control programme was then developed for the main tests using an Orion Data Logger interfaced with a Commodore PET micro computer. Roads with an elevated crash risk due to road surface friction deficit are identified. <p> Glioblastoma (GBM) is a hypervascular and hypoxic neoplasia of the central nervous system with an extremely high rate of mortality. Owing to its hypervascularity, anti-angiogenic therapies (AAT) have been used as an adjuvant to the traditional surgical resection, chemotherapy, and radiation to normalize blood vessels, control abnormal vasculatures and prevent recurrence.
