The emergence and transmission of drug resistant strains of Mycobacterium tuberculosis (Mtb) calls for urgency in understanding the barriers to effective treatment. Here we developed a chemostat cultivation system to measure the mycobacterial mutation rate during periods of slow growth versus fast growth. We found that mutants accumulated at the same rate per unit time during slow growth and during fast growth, suggesting that mutation rate does not vary in accordance with growth rate. By competing genetically barcoded mutant strains at fast and slow growth rates and using a mathematical mo

Metabolic reprogramming in cancer cells has recently been connected to IF1, a key regulator of ATP synthase activity, which is found to be overexpressed in many human carcinomas. Considering the pivotal role of mitochondria inside the cells, mitochondrial alteration is crucial for tumors to grow and IF1 may help tumor progression by conserving cellular ATP in hypoxic conditions. Although the inhibitor has being deeply investigated, its role in tumorigenesis and/or cancer progression is still debated. Therefore, we prepared stable IF1-silenced clones from the human osteosarcoma 143B cell line a

Abstract:

Abstract:
Induction motors are widely used in industrial processes. The malfunction of a motor may not only lead to high repair costs, but also cause immense financial losses due to unexpected process downtime. Since thermal overload is one of the major root causes of stator winding insulation failure, an accurate and reliable monitoring of the stator winding temperature is crucial to increase the mean time to catastrophic motor breakdown, and to reduce the extraordinary financial losses due to unexpected process downtime. To provide a reliable thermal protection for induction motors fed by motor co

Abstract:
Economical and environmental factors together with energy policies towards more efficient systemsare the driving force for the development of the vehicle industry. Significant changes have beenmade to fulfill new emissions legislation but the basic internal combustion vehicle architecture hasbeen kept. New emission treatment systems that increase the thermal loading of the cooling systemhad been added within the same package envelope as before, which means less space to place coolingfans and a greater need for airflow. Changes in the cooling system, namely the replacement of thehydraulic fan d
