Full textAddictions, acting-out and eating disorders are known to be comorbid with borderline personality disorder. Their high frequencies mean that they support involvements and functions in the way that borderline personality operates. Borderline subjects are led to acting-out urgently by mood disorder, depression, emotional instability and incapacity to regulate them. In borderline personality, defense mechanisms are diversified between nevrosis and psychosis. The major dysfunction seems to set on fail of self-containing and porosity of the borders of the self. Identity disorder and narcissistic failures are the main issues in borderline personality disorder which lead to recreate pathological relationship to the primary object with later relationship. Dependent relationship and fear of abandonment manage borderline subjects and their symptomatology with addictions and acting-out. This research aim to examine different dimensions: interpersonal dependency, attachment, alexithymia, depression, hopelessness feeling, anaclitism, dependent and avoidant personality disorders according to addictions with and without drugs, and suicide attempts and non suicidal self-injury

Full textThe use of soiled syringes exposes injection drug users (IDUs) to serious infections. To better target objectives of an intervention aimed at promoting the use of a new syringe at each injection, a preliminary study was realized. The use of an integrative theoretical model has permitted to identify factors associated with the intention of IDUs to adopt this behaviour. Only 39% of the 105 respondents had a firm intention to adopt this behaviour in the next week. Perceived behavioural control (OR : 17.83; CI95% 5.75-55.15) and attitude (OR : 13.43; CI95% 3.54-50.87) were the principal factors associated with intention. Intervention mapping served as the conceptual framework to guide the development of the intervention. At each developmental step, this model integrates theory, empirical data and information collected among populations. More specifically, the intervention emerges through a strategy named Computer Tailoring. This strategy uses information technologies to present messages customized according to individual characteristics. This intervention was implemented within the framework of an evaluative research. A two-group randomized control trial design was adopted. Behavioural outcomes were measured at baseline (T0), one week after the intervention (T1) and three months later (T2). A total of 260 IDUs were recruited. At baseline, 52.3% of the participants reported not always using new syringes in the previous week. The analysis showed a short term effect. One month after the implementation of the intervention, participants in the experimental group were using fewer soiled syringes (p = 0.004), and a higher number reported adopting safe behaviour (p = 0.04). These effects were not significant three months later. The results of this study add weight to those already published demonstrating the efficacy of Computer Tailoring intervention to modify behaviour. When they are exposed to tailored educational messages, IDUs who visit needle exchange programs (NEPs) adopt safer injection practices.

Full textCannabis is currently the most consumed illegal drug in France. The Δ9-tetrahydrocannabinol (Δ9-THC), as an exocannabinoid impacts the human visual system through the endocannabinoid system. Among the two main pathways responsible for early visual transmission, the magnocellular pathway might be the most affected by Δ9-THC. As they are complex stimuli, visual perception of faces requires the early processing of spatial frequencies, which are a type of low level information. The extreme ranges of spatial frequencies, qualified as low spatial frequencies (LSF) and high spatial frequencies (HSF), would be mainly transmitted, respectively by magnocellular and parvocellular pathways. In addition, literature already provides evidence towards magnocellular pathway impairments in schizophrenia, a pathology which incidence is known to increase with cannabis use. Hence, from studies with cannabis regular users, patients suffering from schizophrenia, and healthy controls, our research aimed at assessing the impact of regular cannabis use on early visual processes of face perception. Considering the P100 and N170 event-related potential (ERP) components in response to specific ranges of spatial frequencies available in our face stimuli, our first study tested and validated the methodology. As expected, healthy participants showed a stronger sensibility in response to LSF stimuli on the P100 and to the HSF stimuli on the N170. Using the same methodology, the second study suggests a LSF processing alteration in cannabis users, as reflected by the N170 ERP component. Our last study was conducted on patients suffering from schizophrenia and confirmed an alteration of LSF processing on both the P100 and the N170. On the basis of a pathology presenting well documented visual deficits, this last observation allows us to propose an interpretation of cannabis users’ data

Full textIntroduction: the period of adolescence is the age group for which cannabis use is highest in France. Cannabis use in adolescence is an important stressor for parents. The first aim of the present study was to better identify specific family dynamics and coping strategies (individual and dyadic) mobilized by parents of adolescent cannabis users. Second, was to investigate the factors associated with psychological distress (family dynamics, coping strategies). Method: during this quantitative and qualitative study, 50 parents consult for a problematic adolescent cannabis use and 67 control parents answered at a sociodemographic questionnaire, the Family Adaptability and Cohesion Scale (FACES IV) and the Family Relationship Index (FRI) to assess family dynamics, the Brief Cope to estimate situational coping strategies and dyadic coping Inventory (DCI) to address the dyadic coping strategies mobilized by the sample's parents couple. Results: parents of adolescent cannabis users had a high psychological distress and have obtained significantly different scores on the dimensions of family dynamics, compare at parental control group. Thus, family functioning of parents of adolescent cannabis users was defined as cohesion and lower communication capabilities but also high intensity conflict from parents in the control group. A dimension of family dynamics (conflicts) and four situational coping strategies (expressing feelings, blame, substance use, behavioral disengagement) were positively related to psychological distress. Dyadic coping strategies (communication about the stress, negative strategies, ect) were positively related to psychological distress experienced by parents couple. Conclusion: these results show the interest of better understanding the experiences of parents facing the adolescent problem cannabis use and suggest directions for future supported

Full textColombia is located in northwestern portion South America. Currently, 46 million people inhabit the country and are mainly concentrated in the cities. According to the National Administrative Department of Statistics (2017), the population distribution is mainly explained by the forced displacement of persons resulting from the Colombian armed conflict that lasted nearly 60 years (from 1960 to 2015). In the present thesis, four problems of particular interest are examined: education for preventing drug use, sexual education, the capacity to forgive in situations of medical negligence, and the capacity to forgive acts of violence perpetrated against women in the context of the Colombian armed conflict. In the first study on the willingness of Colombian adults to forgive, Colombians have difficulties in integrating stimuli at the moment of deciding whether to forgive in a political context, yet it is not easy for them to forgive in a political context compared to other situations such as medical negligence. About the second study, polarization and the invisibility of victims are also common themes with respect to crimes committed against women. The study identified that the willingness to forgive of the participants is low. However, only a small group of participants consider the crime itself upon contemplating forgiveness, while another small group consider the attitude of the aggressor. In regard to the education of young people to prevent drug use, it is important to highlight that many subjects are still taboo in Colombia. As shown by the data, prohibitionist and authoritarian standpoints on drug use are considered to be the most acceptable. In regard to sexual education, the majority of young people in Colombia do not have access to such education despite this being a basic right. Likewise, parents and caretakers are apparently unable to effectively and assertively educate their children on this topic

Full textDespite the development of intervention and educational facilities, the HCV epidemic is growing and remains a major public health problem in the population of people who inject drugs (PWID), with a current prevalence of 64% in this population. These data may indicate the difficulty of adapting policies, devices and specialized centres to the diversity of consumer profiles, the specificity of their needs and the evolution of consumption practices. This project proposes to understand injection practices and its regulatory factors, by crossing the points of view of the different actors involved (e.g., users ; professionals ; associations). To understand the phenomenon of injection, this project uses the paradigmatic framework of Social Representations (RS; Moscovixi, 1961) as a holistic and comprehensive approach to investigation. Based on a mixed method approach and a convergent design this project is based on a series of qualitative and quasi-experimental studies (i.e., Ethnographic observations ; Focus Group ; Semi-directive interviews ; Quasi-experimental approach by questionnaires). This project aims to produce reliable knowledge on injection practice in order to better understand this phenomenon. Based on the cross-referencing of the results of the various studies, we aim to: Make a diagnosis: Better understand the phenomenon of injection and explain the practices.Develop intervention research: Develop tools adapted to PWID's realities and needs in order to ensure more effective public health actions

Full textThe consumption of drugs is the phenomenon of health, mental and social development of our days has obviously always existed. The use of licit and illicit drugs among youths has been a notable increase in recent decades that it is a serious problem on the physical, psychological and social healthy. The increase of the numbers of addicts and the declining age of them, which is always worrisome to families and responsible are very significant. The family is the first cultural environment for children. Despite the time it attributes much of his duties to the other social institutions, but any institutions could not undertake these functions perfectly. Whereas the health of society is dependent on family health, and indeed the originalsource of many of the social deviance and delinquency are within this social unit. [etc.]
Devin, Anne-Laure. "Les perturbations de la récupération des évènements autobiographiques chez les usagers réguliers de cannabis." Thesis, Université de Lorraine, 2016. http://www.theses.fr/2016LORR0330/document.
Full textThe literature indicates that cannabis users are vulnerable, both emotionally and cognitively. We expected that these dysfunctions may be associated with a loss of autobiographical recall. Indeed, through this exploratory study, we observe that regular cannabis users have difficulties to retrieve specific autobiographical events, which is indicative of a surgenerality bias. It appears that adaptive use motivation influences the recall of general events in users, much more than the representative factors of their emotional functioning. Therefore, we suggest that, in this population, adaptive use motive, illustrate, much more than other predictors, the functional avoidance assumption (Williams, 2006) to explain the occurrence of this surgenerality bias. Given, now, the emotional valence of autobiographical events recalled by the users, this research does not allow to demonstrate overrepresentation of negative events in the autobiographical recall of users, contrary to what we envisaged in the light of literature. It is possible to think that these results are due, among other things, to the effect of cannabinoids on the modulation of emotions. However, to confirm this, we need more research gets done to answer this question
