Viking metal, Teutonic metal, Mesopotamian metal – labels of this kind are common in fan discourse, media and academia. Whereas some research has investigated such labels and related them to the artist’s stage presentation, music videos, artwork and lyrics, there is still a lack from the perspectives of music production and performance as to how such culturally and geographically associated labels differ musically. This article explores culture-specific production and performance characteristics of Teutonic metal, focusing on how metal from Germany differed from British and US-American product

When the shearer is cutting, the sound signal generated by the cutting drum crushing coal and rock contains a wealth of cutting status information. In order to effectively process the shearer cutting sound signal and accurately identify the cutting mode, this paper proposed a shearer cutting sound signal recognition method based on an improved complete ensemble empirical mode decomposition with adaptive noise (ICCEMDAN) and an improved grey wolf optimizer (IGWO) algorithm-optimized support vector machine (SVM). First, the approach applied ICEEMDAN to process the cutting sound signal and obtain

Drumline has gained more popularity as an independent percussion group with its new music arrangement and attractive drum groove. It is seen that a quite number of drumline groups have been established in Malaysia as part of music activities such as secondary school and university drumline and community group. However, the insufficient emphasis or highlights has likely created diverse perceptions on the development of drumline groups as they have the tendency to have different reasons for joining a drumline group. World music might be defined most benignly as an attempt to conceptualise all of the world’s music. More cynically though, world music can be also seen as just an advertising label for all non-Western music. Many scholars have gone even further and argue that world music is a delusional subjective fantasy, an unreal utopia and an oppressive discourse of western hegemony. Defining what world music is really depends on who is asking the question. Whose world musi is it? How enzymes achieve their enormous rate enhancements remains a central question in biology, and our understanding to date has impacted drug development, influenced enzyme design, and deepened our appreciation of evolutionary processes. While enzymes position catalytic and reactant groups in active sites, physics requires that atoms undergo constant motion. Numerous proposals have invoked positioning or motions as central for enzyme function, but a scarcity of experimental data has limited our understanding of positioning and motion, their relative importance, and their changes through the enzy
