L’historiographie traditionnelle considère que le druzisme – entendu comme la doctrine religieuse du tawḥīd propre aux Druzes – a connu son apogée au IXe/XVe siècle grâce à l’enseignement et à la direction spirituelle d’al-Sayyid (m. 884/1479). La présente étude a pour objectif d’analyser cette construction d’une figure mythifiée de grand saint et d’un récit peu ancré dans les réalités sociales au niveau local. Une telle révision est rendue possible par un double renouvellement : une lecture critique des sources et un élargissement du corpus à des manuscrits druzes inédits. Confronter les hagiographies sayyidiennes aux chroniques locales permet de distinguer entre les Vitae du saint et le personnage historique d'al-Sayyid, afin d’étudier sa vision, son action et son autorité dans les contrées syriennes du Ġarb et du Šūf. Les traités de droit druze livrent par ailleurs des indications précieuses sur l’organisation nouvelle mise en place par ses disciples après sa mort et sur le fonctionnement des communautés druzes au niveau local. Enfin l’articulation du pouvoir religieux des initiés avec le pouvoir politique des émirs ḥusaynides, issus des Banū Buḥtur, est révélatrice des formes de légitimation qui apparaissent alors
Traditional historiography considers that Druzism – understood as the religious doctrine of tawḥīd specific to the Druzes – had its heyday in the 9th/15th century through teaching and spiritual guidance from al-Sayyid (d. 884/1479). The present study aims to analyse this construction of a mythical figure of a great saint as well as that of a narrative scarcely rooted in the local social realities. Such a revision was made possible by double-renewal: a critical reading of the sources and the enrichment of the corpus with unpublished Druze manuscripts. Confronting Sayyidian hagiographies to local chronicles allows us to distinguish between the Vitae of the saint and the historical character of al-Sayyid, and thus to study his vision, action, and authority in the Syrian regions of the Ġarb and Šūf. The Druze law treaties also give valuable information on the new organisation implemented by his followers after his death as well as the functioning of Druze communities at the local level. Finally, the articulation of the religious power of initiates with the political power of the Ḥusaynid emirs from the Banū Buḥtur, reveals the forms of legitimation which then appear

Abstract:
This dissertation research examines how shared aspects of identity are constructed among the Druze in Lebanon and how it contributes to conceptualizations of heritage. Assessing the educational resources focused on aspects of Druze heritage, the barriers to cultural preservation were elucidated. Utilizing a number of qualitative research methods, participants’ feedback constructed a narrative that considers what they believe to be at risk for their community. These issues included addressing a perceived knowledge gap wherein the majority of Druze expressed a need to expand the educational resources in their community. Participants defined the kinds of resources and social supports that are lacking and explained how existing texts, lectures, and seminars should be improved, increased, and made more accessible. This dissertation is a result of ethnographic fieldwork which I conducted throughout 2014. Having lived in the town of Aley, Lebanon, I conducted research interviews with individuals that represented a broad spectrum of society, taking into account women and men of different ages with diverse social, economic, and educational backgrounds. Through participant observation, I shared many of the daily experiences of research participants and observed the Druze in their regular lives, their social gatherings, and at sites of historical significance. Using a political economic theoretical framework, this research also explored the diversity of ways in which social phenomena are contested among the Druze in Lebanon. While much of the anthropological and social science research on heritage focuses on its material components, utilizing pre-established models that conflate heritage with tangible symbolic expressions, a political economic approach insists that the context of social structures are taken into account. This also lends itself to a conceptualization of heritage as a process by which individuals create meaning in their lives, which are shaped by social contexts such as history and contemporary culture. This research highlights the fact that a priori models that fail to consider both social structures and the fundamental perspectives of participants are based upon ideologies that lack a critical academic lens. This dissertation demonstrates that while Druze particularism often necessitated a level of conformity and ascription to traditional values, the diversity of individual approaches to shared identity contributed to the plasticity of cultural forms and varieties of self-expression. As well, expanded and improved educational resources that encourage individuals to learn more about their history and the basic tenets of their faith were widely seen as a valued means of ensuring the society’s continuation.

Abstract:
This dissertation is based on twenty-one months of ethnographic fieldwork in Damascus and Suwyada, Syria. Research focused on the Druze religious sect. The central focus is on a religious minority's strategies for preserving their sense of separateness and uniqueness while at the same time claiming pan-Arab and patriotic Syrian affiliations. Three broad topics are used to discuss this: reincarnation, marriage, and memory. Because the primary focus is on a religious minority, one of the major concerns has been to elucidate notions of relational identity from a Druze point of view. This dissertation is an argument against any kind of facilely labeled Druze identity, and is an extended discussion of various facets of Druze experience, on what it means to be a member of a religious minority in the contemporary Middle Eastern state of Syria in the mid-1990s. Identity might be best understood as affiliations and affinities, multiply interacting levels of meaning, and a question of frequently adjusting focus and perspective. Reincarnation is not usually associated with Islam, and the Druze belief in reincarnation is one thing that sets this sect apart from the Sunni majority in Syria, even stigmatizes them. This dissertation also explores the nature of the everyday lived experience of Druze reincarnation, and how it is a point of cohesion for the community as a whole, but at the cost of some emotional splintering of individuals selves and families. Reincarnation has concrete social effects on both families and communities. It brings together members of unrelated families who otherwise would never have cause to know one another. Reincarnation also functions doctrinally to support the sect's prohibition against outmarriage. Outmarriage was perceived to be occurring with increasing frequency among the Druze in the 1990s, and was a hot topic of conversation. This dissertation explores the nature of ideologies being reproduced, as well as challenged and altered, through the debate ongoing in the community regarding marriage and outmarriage. Both reincarnation and outmarriage are topics that raise the issue of the Druze's relationship to non-Druze, and relational identity, since they both deal with ideologies of boundary maintenance, and "purity" of sect membership.

Abstract:
The political actions of the Druze of Israel have formed the focus of a large body of research. Despite this, academic studies to date have failed to explain why so many Druze resorted to a politics of loyalty when Israel was first established but have, in more recent years, resorted to a politics of violence. The research herein proposes that a model of the politics of accommodation is able to explain the political actions of the Druze during the first three decades of the Israeli state. Data from The Israel State Archives and the archives of leading Druze families show that many Israeli-Druze resorted to a politics of loyalty. This loyalty was inextricably linked to the perception of the new state and its government's policy as creating a new structure of opportunity for the economic, social and political progress of the Druze community whilst also safeguarding the Israeli-Druze community as a distinctive cultural and religious group on its own land. Similarly, it is proposed that the ethnic state supremacy model is able to explain the recent rise in the politics of violence within the Israeli-Druze community. Data from personal interviews with state officials and Druze activists confirmed that many Israeli-Druze resorted to a politics of violence because they perceived the Israeli government's policy as a threat to their preservation as a cultural and religious group on its own land. This study of Druze political action is intended as a contribution to the debate surrounding the Israeli state's politics in relation to Israel's Arab minority. This research also seeks to address wider issues in that it proposes a model that is applicable to the general question of ethnic conflict resolution in divided societies and polarised states.

The focus of this research was to obtain, specifically, data on the marriage customs of the Druze in the Shouf Mountains of southeastern Lebanon. Ten Druze informants were selected and classified according to sex, age, marital status and religious status (sheik/sheika). A detailed questionnaire was designed to use during the interviews with these informants. However, after two interviews, it became apparent that a variable questionnaire was necessary to take advantage of the new, richly-detailed, cultural information that emerged with each informant. New questions were developed, in the field, to reflect and gather this new ethnographic data on Druze marriage customs.

Cette thèse porte sur les expressions vocales féminines de lamentation durant les rituels funéraires des Druzes du sud de la Syrie. Je montre le rôle majeur, dans le rituel ordinaire, des femmes qui, avec ces pratiques vocales et musicales, théâtralisent l'expression de la douleur et donnent un sens collectif à la mort, au nom de toute la société. Je prends en compte les circonstances du décès, les espaces mobilisés, les temporalités, les divers types de rituels en fonction du statut du défunt (ordinaire, shaykh, martyr) et, à titre comparatif, les autres rituels du cycle de la vie (naissance, mariage). Je m'attache surtout à décrire et analyser les pratiques sonores et musicales (seuls supports de la mémoire collective des défunts), et ainsi le dialogue oral entre les vivants et les morts, l'intensité sonore, la poly-musique et la poly-vocalité. Par ailleurs, en raison de la croyance druze fondamentale en la réincarnation, établissant une continuité entre mort et naissance future, on comprend l'importance des lamentations mélodisées et des chants funéraires qui, en permettant une bonne séparation de l'âme et du corps, favorisent cette renaissance à venir. Dans les funérailles d'un jeune martyr (depuis 2011), ce sont plutôt les hommes qui prennent en charge les expressions poétiques, chantées et dansées (la jawfiyya), car ce qui entre en jeu et leur donne une dimension publique, c'est la solidarité complexe avec l’État syrien. Ainsi, les expressions orales et musicales dans les rituels funéraires permettent à la communauté de tisser de nouveaux liens en son sein et à l'extérieur en incluant les vivants et les morts, et en départageant les rôles entre les hommes et les femmes
This thesis deals with the female vocal expressions of lamentation during the funeral rituals of the Druze of southern Syria. In it, I describe the leading role taken in conventional ritual by women who, through their music and vocals, dramatize the expression of grief and give a collective meaning, on behalf of society as a whole, to death. I consider the circumstances of death, the spaces mobilized, the perception of time, the various types of rituals according to the status of the deceased (ordinary citizen, shaykh, martyr), and, by way of comparison, other life-cycle rituals (birth, marriage). I have a particular interest in describing and analyzing the role of sound and music (the only means of expression of a collective memory of the deceased), and thus the oral dialogue between the living and the dead, sound intensity, poly- music and poly-vocality. Furthermore, because of the fundamental Druze belief in reincarnation, creating a continuity between death and future birth, we understand the importance of melodized laments and funeral songs which facilitate this future rebirth by allowing an effective separation of soul from body. In the case of a young martyr’s funeral (since 2011) it is rather the men who take charge of the poetic, sung and danced expressions (the jawfiyya), because a complicated solidarity with the Syrian state comes into play and adds a public dimension. Thus, oral and musical expressions in funeral rituals enable the community to forge new links within and outside the community by bringing together the living and the dead, and by determining the roles of men and women

Le Druzisme représente un courant philosophico-religieux qui peut être considéré comme une doctrine d'apparence religieuse, de pensée philosophique et systématique, de référence gnostique dans l'histoire de l'Islam. Ses adeptes vivent en communauté hermétique, ses sages (šeiẖs) se retirent dans des réclusions (ẖalwāt) en s'isolant comme des mystiques, ils se livrent à une retraite spirituelle sans pratique religieuse, ils ne se réfèrent à aucune tradition précédente des religions monothéistes, de par leurs écrits ou leurs pratiques. Ils conservent une tradition et une éthique avec un code de conduite et des interdits culinaires. En revanche, le Druzisme est né au sein de l'Isma`ilisme, il établit un lien intellectuel et spirituel avec la philosophie antique et avec le néoplatonisme tout en assimilant des éléments des religions d'orient avec des éléments grecs helléniques. Peut-on alors parler d'une secte de l'Islam, du moment où il n'y a aucun lien avec ce dernier sinon le milieu historique dans lequel celle-ci est vu le jour? Peut-on parler de religion, quand il n'y a aucune religiosité ou pratique religieuse exprimée ou vécue? S'agit-il de dire que l'on est face à une théosophie alors que le lien entre les membres de la communauté n'est pas fondé sur la philosophie et que le commun des Druzes n'est pas philosophe? Comment qualifier ce phénomène d'une communauté dont le lien est une foi qui n'est pas exprimée religieusement, et une doctrine dont le contenu n'est pas révélé, à laquelle s'attachent des membres qui ne le connaissent qu'une fois initiés? En somme, qui sont les Druzes et qu'est-ce que le Druzisme? Existe-t-il un lien entre cette doctrine et la gnose?
Druzism is a philosophico-religious movement which may be considered primarily as a doctrine but with a religious appearance, a systematic and philosophical thinking, with some reference to Gnosticism in the history of Islam. Its adherents live in a community of hermits, its wisemen (šeiẖs) retire in seclusion (ẖalwāt) by isolating themselves like mystics, as they deliver themselves to living in a spiritual retreat, without any religious practice ; they refer to no previous religious traditions even among the monotheistic ones, whether in reference to their sacred writings or religious practice. The Druze adheres to a tradition and a code of ethics and behaviour, as well as to culinary prohibitions. Druzism itself however, was born in the heart of Ismailism, while establishing an intellectual and a spiritual link with both ancient philosophies and neoplatonism, all the while assimilating various element of mid and far-eastern religions, mixed with Greek and Hellenistic ideas. Can we therefore speak of the Druze as if forming a sect of Islam? Can we even speak of a religion where in fact there is no trace of religiosity or religious practice either expressed or lived? Is it possible that we are facing theosophy where the link between the members of the community is certainly not founded on a philosophy? How can one qualify this phenomenon of a community where the main tenet is that of a faith which is not expressed in a religious manner, and a held doctrine the contents of which are not revealed, to which its members adhere, not knowing it fully unless once initiated? In summary, who are the Druzes, and what is Druzism? Is there a link between its doctrine and that of Gnosticism?

A comparative study of different Texture Analysis methods bas been realized on SIR-A images, and led to automatic classification by bath supervised and non-supervised algorithms. Texture Analysis is a privileged tool for Automatic interpretation of RADAR images. Abstract:
This thesis analyzes the complexity of social identity in two groups of Druze living in separate territories in Israel: Mount Carmel in the North West of the country, and Golan heights in the North East, at the border with Syria. The two groups, belonging to the same religious minority, are different from an historical, political, and social point of view. Druze, Arab, Israeli, and Syrian identities play different roles in the two groups – hence the complexity. These different identities may be in conflict with each other. The main hypotheses are that this identity conflict is significantly different in Carmel than in the Golan; and that it may be related in different ways to psychological dimensions such as optimism, collective self-esteem, and experiences of guilt and shame. The theoretical background of this thesis is based on three central theories: optimal distinctiveness (Brewer, 1991); social identity complexity (Roccas and Brewer, 2002); and bicultural identity integration (Benet-Martinez, 2002). The advantage of these theories is that they explain a large proportion of the complexity of social identity; however, these theories emerge in research as limited in conflictual contexts such as the Arab –Israeli conflict. The main effect in multiple identification process is the relation between oppositional and compatible social identification. As a consequence, individuals aim to construct a "third" social identity defined by the integration between both original identities: e.g. Druze/Arabic or Druze/Israeli or Druze/Syrian. This process involves values and cultural aspects. The thesis uses the above theories to explain the complexity of the "third" identity of the Druze. Furthermore, it investigates the ways in which the political conflict between Israel and Arab countries influences the "third' identity of the Druze. In a first step the thesis reconstruct the ecological contest: the historic, economic, religious, cultural factors characterizing the two groups of Druzes. The research develop in two phases: A first explorative inquiry with interviews to key persons in Carmel and in Golan with the aim of a depth knowledge of the topic. On this basis in the second phase the research applied 7 scales to a balanced sample of 196 subjects : 102 in Golan, 94 in Carmel; 46% male, 54% female. The methodology is a mixed one – qualitative and quantitative – on the idea that the argument of thesis, with his multi faced dimensions, requires non only quantitative data but both analysis of discourses and statistics. From the categorial content analysis of the transcription of interviews three principal groups of categories emerges: specific of Golan, specific of Carmel and common to both groups. For the Golani subjects the main topics are the separation from Syria with the consequent discontinuations, loss of Syrian culture and tradition and lack of citizenship. For the Carmeli subjects the main topics are military service law, feeling of treason and social assimilation. In addition, there are a common topics that emerge from both group as historical aspects, cultural invention economical aspect and uncertainly future. The most important results of the quantitative research demonstrate first of all that in both groups the Druze identities remain the strongest one. In Golan emerge as salient a Druze/Syrian as third identity . In Carmel emerge with the same relevance the Druze/Arabic and Druze/Israeli identity: as consequence , in Carmel emerge more relevant conflict between these "third" identities. In addition , the results demonstrate the positive correlation between the social identity conflict and lack of optimism, sense of guilt and shame. Consequently , these psychological dimensions are more problematic in Carmel than in Golan. The psychological well being, highlighted from the explored psychological dimensions, emerge as better in Golan even if the conditions of life are worse. In addition, the integration of Carmel Druzes in Israel underline the contradiction between economic benefits and the social identity conflict

Abstract:
The Druze Marsh is a spring-fed wetland in northeast Jordan that, due to years of over-pumping the aquifer, dried out completely in the 1980s. This study combines detailed stratigraphic and sedimentological analysis of seven test pits and one controlled excavation in the exposed marsh bed, with artifact analysis and radiometric dating, to reconstruct the changing landscape since the Middle Pleistocene and relate hominin use of the area to environmental change. The results show that there are extensive hominin occupations in the Druze Marsh from the Late Lower Paleolithic through the Epipaleolithic that correspond to relatively dry environments when the wetland was reduced in size, suggesting the Druze Marsh acted as a desert refugium for hominins during adverse climatic conditions, with important implications for regional population continuity, turnover, and/or extinctions. Separating these occupations are extended periods when the wetland increased in size and depth, becoming a shallow lake that drowned land previously available for hominin occupation and forcing these populations into the surrounding river channels that flow into the central basin. Positioned at the north end of a string of paleolakes that connects the Levantine Corridor to the west and central Arabian Peninsula to the southeast, river networks around the Druze Marsh may have provided an additional inland route for hominins dispersing between Africa, Eurasia, and the Arabian Peninsula during wetter climates. Establishing the full significance of the Druze Marsh and other desert paleolakes for hominin survivorship and dispersal during the Middle and Late Pleistocene requires additional joint paleoenvironmental and archaeological research.

Afin de reconstruire l'évolution du paysage depuis le Pléistocène moyen jusqu'à aujourd'hui et d'établir la nature des liens entre la présence des hominidés et des changements environnementaux dans la région, la présente étude combine les analyses stratigraphiques et sédimentologiques de sept sondages géologiques et d'une fouille effectuée dans le lit du marais, l'analyse d'artéfacts archéologiques et la datation radiométrique des dépôts archéologiques. Les résultats de ces analyses indiquent que les hominidés occupèrent à plusieurs reprises et d'une manière soutenue le marécage entre la fin du Paléolithique inférieur et l'Épipaléolithique, pendant des intervalles climatiques arides durant lesquelles l'étendue du marais était considérablement réduite. Ces données se complémentent pour suggérer que le marais ait servi de zone de refuge pour les hominidés quand les conditions climatiques se détérioraient dans la région. En ce qui concerne la continuité des populations régionales et leurs extinctions localisées, les résultats de cette étude impliquent notament que les populations préhistoriques occupaient le marais quand le climat était moins clément et l'abandonnait quand le climat s'améliorait et que le basin se remplissait, devenant parfois un lac peu profond qui les repoussait le long des rivières qui se déversent dans le bassin. Étant donné leur situation à l'extrémité nord d'une chaîne de paléolacs reliant le Corridor Levantin à l'ouest et le centre de la Péninsule Arabique au sud-est, ces rivières entourant le marais pourraient ainsi avoir fourni une route intérieure additionnelle pour les migrations humaines entre l'Afrique, l'Eurasie et l'Arabie pendant les périodes humides du Pléistocène. La juste importance du Marais Druze, d'autres paléolacs et des déserts dans le contexte de l'histoire des populations humaines du Pléistocène moyen et supérieur du Proche-Orient reste néanmoins à être étoffée par de futures études paléoenvironnementales et archéologiques plus poussées.

This work aims to research the psychological effects on a person placed in a situation of cultural-religious rootlessness. People who had this type of experience, have a kind of an illness of self that was promoted by the situation of rootless. For the realization of this work I interviewed five druzes in situations of rootlessness. The analysis of the interviews was done through the psychoanalytical references. This thesis aims to contribute to the discussion of the issue of rootlessness, a very common problem in the contemporary world, to better understand this type of problem for subsequent clinical management of this type of situation
O presente trabalho tem como objetivo a investigação das repercussões psíquicas de drusos em situação de desenraizamento cultural e religioso. Pessoas que passaram por tal experiência nos mostram que o desenraizamento promove um adoecimento do self. Para a realização desse trabalho entrevistei cinco drusos em situações de desenraizamento. A análise das entrevistas foi feita por meio do referencial psicanalítico. Esta dissertação pretende contribuir para a discussão da questão do desenraizamento, problema bastante frequente no mundo contemporâneo, a fim de melhor compreender esse tipo de problemática para posterior manejo clínico desse tipo de situação

La franc-maçonnerie apparaît être, dans la seconde moitié du XIXe siècle et au début du XXe, un élément essentiel du développement intellectuel et culturel du Bilâd al-Shâm. Ses membres sont impliqués dans le mouvement de renaissance intellectuelle Nahda, qui profite de l’ère politique nouvelle de l’Empire ottoman ouverte par les tanzimat. Dans ce contexte, les conflits religieux continuent d’agiter une société confessionnalisée, que les francs-maçons entraînent dans la voie du progrès, de la modernité et de la laïcité. Dans la 1e partie de la thèse, on présente la franc-maçonnerie dans sa réalité concrète à Beyrouth et au Mont Liban, prenant pour modèles deux loges, Palestine et Le Liban, mais aussi dans sa dimension spirituelle. Le processus d’intégration de la franc-maçonnerie et d’inculturation dans le milieu arabe est souligné, de même que le rôle que les francs-maçons font jouer à la Société Scientifique Syrienne. L’émir Muhammad Arslan, franc-maçon et réformateur, est présentée en tant qu’exemple d’une Aufklärung arabe. La 2e partie de la thèse montre le dialogue stérile entre francs-maçons et jésuites en Syrie ottomane. Le jugement sur l’entrée des croyants en franc-maçonnerie que porte un savant musulman, est présenté à partir de l’étude du premier manuscrit en arabe qui en traite. La thèse fait appel à divers témoignages publiés de contemporains, mais aussi à des manuscrits conservés dans des archives publiques et privées. Plusieurs d’entre eux sont utilisés pour la première fois, tel le plus ancien rituel maçonnique en langue arabe, le règlement intérieur de la première loge de Beyrouth ou les statuts inédits de la Société Scientifique Syrienne fondée par les francs-maçons. La recherche conduit ainsi à relever de quelle manière la franc-maçonnerie au cœur de débats, a proposé un modèle de société qui apparaît davantage méta-religieux qu’areligieux ou antireligieux. Freemasonry appears to be in the second half of the 19th and early 20th centuries, an essential part of the cultural development of Bilâd al-Shâm. Its members were involved in the intellectual movement revival "Nahda", which itself has been able to take advantage of the new political era of the Ottoman Empire opened by the Tanzimat. Religious conflicts continued to wave a confessional society. The Freemasons led it in the path of progress, modernity and secularism. In the 1st part of the thesis, we present Freemasonry in its concrete reality in Beirut and Mount Lebanon, through two lodges, Palestine and Le Liban, but also in its spiritual dimension. The integration and the Arabization process is emphasized by Freemasonry through the use of the ritual, and in the role that Freemasons played in the constitution of the Syrian Scientific Society in Beirut. A personality of rare diplomacy and knowledge, Emir Muhammad Arslan, Freemason and reformer, is presented as an example of an Arab intellectual. The 2nd part shows the fruitless dialogue between the Freemasons and the Jesuits in Ottoman Syria. The case of the Wandering Jew is an emblematic episode in the struggle for secularism led by Freemasons. Also we present the 1st manuscript written in Arabic in the Ottoman Empire by a Muslim scholar. The thesis uses various published testimonies of contemporaries, but is also based on manuscripts kept in public and private archives. Some of them, which have never been used so far, such as the oldest Masonic ritual in Arabic, provide a new light on the beginning of Freemasonry in Beirut and on its impact in the history of Ottoman Syria. The research concludes how Freemasonry at the heart of debates, was able to propose a new model of society that seems more meta-religious than non-religious or anti-religious. This is the new society, in which every human being is able to yearn for freedom and aspire to progress and modernity

This research refers to the presence of the Druzism in Brazil, specificallly in the Lar Druzo Brasileiro de São Paulo , one of the representative institutions of the Druze community in the country. This work aims at knowing the history of this institution as well as identifying the elements which characterize it as a reference in the formation of Druze s identity in Brazil. This work has been divided in three chapter. In the first one entitled The Druzism , has been rescued the history of religion since its origins until nowadays. Subsequently, it is presented the elements of the organization, doctrine and practices that characterize this religious tradition. Esta pesquisa se refere à presença do druzismo no Brasil, especificamente no Lar Druzo Brasileiro de São Paulo, uma das instituições representativas da comunidade druza no país. L'étude de la réaction inter-druze constitue une recherche sur la nature des liens entre les druzes, qui représentent une minorité dispersée dans 3 pays différents au Moyen-Orient (Liban, Syrie et Israël). Dans un premier temps, nous essayerons d'exposer les fondements de la doctrine hermétique druze, qui est à la base de leur culture, ainsi qu'à leur société; ensuite sont étudiées et comparées leurs caractéristiques sociales et politiques, afin de relever leurs différences et leurs homogénéités. Notons que chaque groupe druze vit dans un contexte étatique spécifique : au Liban un état confessionnel, en Syrie un état socialiste et en Israël un état hébreu. La perspective de cette étude consiste à apporter des preuves tangibles sur l'existence ou l'absence de leurs relations et à définir les facteurs et les conditions qui favorisent leur continuité ou leur rupture. Notre étude s'insère finalement dans le cadre de la réflexion sur les conséquences qui consacrent la parenté entre religion et politique adoptée par les minorités dans le monde actuel. The study of the inter-druze relationships constitues a research on the nature of the links between the druze - which are a minority spread over three different countries of the middle east (Lebanon, Syria Israel). First we try to expose the foundations of the impenetrable druze doctrine, which is the basis of their culture and their society. Then we study and compare their social and political characteristics to show up their differences and their homogeneity. We note here that each group druze lives in a different state context : a confessional state in Lebanon, a sociealist state in Syria and a hebrew state in Israel. This study is trying to bring a tangible proof on the existence or the absence of the relationships and to define the different factors and conditions which favours their continuity or breakdown. Our study tries to be a reflexion on the consequences that consecrates the relationship between religion and politics as adopted by the minorities in the actual world

Abstract:
One of the important early applications of Quantum Mechanics was to explain the Van-der-Waal’s 1/R6 potential that is observed experimentally between two neutral species, such as noble gas atoms, in terms of correlated uncertainty between interacting dipoles, an effect that does not occur in the classical limit [London-Eisenschitz,1930]. When many-body correlations and higher-multipole interactions are taken into account they yield additional many-body and higher-multipole dispersion terms. Dispersion energies are closely related to electrostatic interactions and polarisation [Hirschfelder-Curtiss-Bird,1954]. Hydrogen bonding, the dominant force in water, is an example of an electrostatic effect, which is also strongly modified by polarisation effects. The behaviour of ions is also strongly influenced by polarisation. Where hydrogen bonding is disrupted, dispersion tends to act as a more constant cohesive force. It is the only attractive force that exists between hydrophobes, for example. Thus all three are important for understanding the detailed behaviour of water, and effects that happen in water, such as the solvation of ions, hydrophobic de-wetting, and thus biological nano-structures. Current molecular simulation methods rarely go beyond pair-wise potentials, and so lose the rich detail of many-body polarisation and dispersion that would permit a force field to be transferable between different environments. Empirical force-fields fitted in the gas phase, which is dominated by two-body interactions, generally do not perform well in the condensed (many-body) phases. The leading omitted dispersion term is the Axilrod-Teller-Muto 3-body potential, which does not feature in standard biophysical force-fields. Polarization is also usually ommitted, but it is sometimes included in next-generation force-fields following seminal work by Cochran [1971]. In practice, many-body forces are approximated using two-body potentials fitted to reflect bulk behaviour, but these are not transferable because they do not reproduce detailed behaviour well, resulting in spurious results near inhomogeneities, such as solvated hydrophobes and ions, surfaces and interfaces. The Quantum Drude Oscillator model (QDO) unifies many-body, multipole polarisation and dispersion, intrinsically treating them on an equal footing, potentially leading to simpler, more accurate, and more transferable force fields when it is applied in molecular simulations. The Drude Oscillator is simply a model atom wherein a single pseudoelectron is bound harmonically to a single pseudonucleus, that interacts via damped coulomb interactions [Drude,1900]. Path Integral [Feynman-Hibbs,1965] Molecular Dynamics (PIMD) can, in principle, provide an exact treatment for moving molecules at finite temperature on the Born- Oppenheimer surface due to their pseudo-electrons. PIMD can be applied to large systems, as it scales like N log(N), with multiplicative prefactor P that can be effectively parallelized away on modern supercomputers. There are other ways to treat dispersion, but all are computationally intensive and cannot be applied to large systems. These include, for example, Density Functional Theory provides an existence proof that a functional exists to include dispersion, but we dont know the functional. We outline the existing methods, and then present new density matrices to improve the discretisation of the path integral. Diffusion Monte Carlo (DMC), first proposed by Fermi, allows the fast computation of high-accuracy energies for static nuclear configurations, making it a useful method for model development, such as fitting repulsion potentials, but there is no straightforward way to generate forces. We derived new methods and trial wavefunctions for DMC, allowing the computation of energies for much larger systems to high accuracy. A Quantum Drude model of Xenon, fit in the gas-phase, was simulated in the condensed-phase using both DMC and PIMD. The new DMC methods allowed for calculation of the bulk modulus and lattice constant of FCC-solid Xenon. Both were in excellent agreement with experiment even though this model was fitted in the gasphase, demonstrating the power of Quantum Drudes to build transferable models by capturing many-body effects. We also used the Xenon model to test the new PIMD methods. Finally, we present the outline of a new QDO model of water, including QDO parameters fitted to the polarisabilities and dispersion coefficients of water.

Vernonia brasiliana é um arbusto perene que varia entre 0,5 e 2,5m de altura conhecida popularmente por assa-peixe, hervea-préa ou tramanhém utilizada principalmente no tratamento de doenças do sistema respiratório e digestivo. Estudos científicos já comprovaram atividades antimalárica e antimicrobiana deste vegetal. O nosso trabalho teve como objetivo avaliar a toxicidade aguda e as atividades farmacológicas (antiinflamatória e antineoplásica em roedores) das folhas da V. brasiliana. Foram realizados ensaios de toxicidade aguda, por via intraperitoneal, com notificação das alterações comportamentais resultantes da administração de cada dose. Os animais tratados apresentaram reações tóxicas, sendo as reações comportamentais excitatórias e estimulantes os efeitos mais pronunciados. Verificamos também efeitos depressores e a taxa de mortalidade cresceu progressivamente com o aumento da dose. Os dados histológicos demonstraram que todos os animais que receberam o EHE de V. brasiliana apresentaram fígado com algum grau de congestão vascular. O aparecimento de novos efeitos adversos após 24h da administração e a permanência de vários sintomas (72h) demonstraram que a droga possui reações cumulativas. De acordo com a DL50 obtida, o extrato de V. brasiliana pode ser considerado moderadamente tóxico quando administrado por via intraperitoneal. Na avaliação da atividade antiinflamatória utilizou-se o modelo de edema de pata induzido por carragenina em ratos, com administração do extrato por via intraperitoneal. Os resultados encontrados apresentaram indicativos de combate ao processo inflamatório numa ação tardia, que foi conferido a partir da 5ª hora após administração da maior dose estudada (150mg/Kg). Em relação a atividade antineoplásica frente as linhagens Sarcoma 180 e Carcinoma de Ehrlich, o extrato produziu significativa redução dos tumores, com 93,88% de inibição tumoral para os animais portadores do Sarcoma 180 (31,25mg/kg) e 86,70% para os portadores do Carcinoma de Ehrlich (62,5 mg/Kg). A análise histopatológica demonstrou que o extrato ocasionou um maior número de áreas necróticas, em ambas as linhagens. Ao analisarmos a especificidade tumor-hospedeiro de cada linhagem em relação às diferentes doses de V. brasiliana, observamos que o extrato apresentou efeito mais significante frente ao Sarcoma 180 do que sobre o Carcinoma de Ehrlich

Butia eriospatha (Martius ex Drude) Beccari (Arecaceae) é uma palmeira nativa do Sul do Brasil que está sob grande pressão antrópica. A espécie encontra-se ameaçada de extinção devido à venda ilegal de plantas adultas nos mercados local e internacional, à exploração insustentável de seus frutos, à presença do gado nas áreas de ocorrência e, à degradação e redução de seu hábitat devido aos reflorestamentos com espécies exóticas. Informações sobre os níveis de diversidade genética, bem como o conhecimento da ecologia de B. eriospatha são fundamentais e devem ser utilizadas em planos de conservação. Neste contexto, o objetivo geral deste trabalho foi estabelecer estratégias de conservação a partir de informações genéticas e ecológicas de B. eriospatha. Com base em análises de DNA nuclear, utilizando-se nove marcadores microssatélites, o presente estudo avaliou o sistema reprodutivo, a diversidade e a estrutura genética de oito populações naturais de B. eriospatha (n=920) localizadas no Estado de Santa Catarina. Análise adicional em uma coleção de indivíduos de B. eriospatha (n=50) oriundos de tráfico ilegal, localizados em residências na cidade de Florianópolis/SC, foi realizada com o intuito de comparar os níveis de diversidade genética com os observados nas populações naturais. Além das análises genéticas, aspectos ecológicos como fenologia, demografia, herbivoria e predação foram também analisados em algumas das populações de B. eriospatha. Análises do sistema reprodutivo indicaram que B. eriospatha é uma espécie que se reproduz, preferencialmente, por cruzamentos (t ?m=0,96). A espécie é auto-compatível e a reprodução pode ocorrer por geitonogamia, indicando a capacidade de populações ou mesmo de indivíduos isolados sobreviver e persisitir. Os níveis de diversidade genética foram intermediários e variaram entre as populações de B. eriosptaha (HE=0,40-0,53; HO=0,22-0,51, AR=2,67-3,67). A presença de alelos raros e privativos foram observados na maioria das populações estudadas. A divergência genética entre as populações foi elevada e significativa (FST=0,16-0,25, p<0,005), indicando existirem diferenças genéticas importantes entre as populações ao longo do Estado. A presença de alelos raros e privativos e a diferenciação genética entre as populações de B. eriospatha atestam a necessidade de conservação in situ da variabilidade genética que ainda existe. Quando comparados, os níveis de diversidade genética foram maiores nos indivíduos que foram ilegalmente comercializados (HE=0,62, AR=5,11). A presença de alelos privativos e os índices de diversidade genética observados na coleção de indivíduos em Florianópolis indicam alto potencial para a coleta de sementes e uso de mudas em projetos de restauração e enriquecimento das populações naturais de B. eriospatha. Além disto, baseado em análises Bayesianas, a maior parte dos indivíduos que foram ilegalmente comercializados e plantados em Florianópolis tiveram diferente origens. Em relação a fenologia reprodutiva, a espécie floresce entre outubro e março, frutificando entre novembro e julho. No entanto, a floração e a frutificação foi sazonal entre eventos reprodutivos. As populações de B. eriospatha, exceto uma, apresentaram estrutura demográfica bimodal, constituída por plantas adultas e plântulas. Altas taxas de herbivoria foram registradas, indicando que a estrutura demográfica observada é resultado da ação do gado sobre o componente regenerante. Isto é corroborado pela ocorrência de outros estádios ontogenéticos em uma população onde o gado não está presente. Todos esses resultados, somados ao uso insustentável dos frutos e da alta taxa de predação de sementes, refletem o grau de ameaça em que se encontram as populações de B. eriospatha. Além da relevância de se considerar várias populações em ações de conservação da espécie, mapear e monitorar as populações remanescentes, combater o comércio ilegal e impedir a entrada do gado nas populações de B. eriospatha são ações imprescindíveis para evitar que, de fato, a espécie seja perdida.
Butia eriospatha (Martius ex Drude) Beccari (Arecaceae), a palm species native to southern Brazil, is under severe pressure due to anthropogenic factors. The species is threatened with extinction because of the illegal sale of adult plants in local and international markets, unsustainable exploitation of its fruit, livestock grazing in its habitat, and the reduction and degradation of its habitat due to reforestation with exotic species. Information on the genetic diversity levels, as well as ecological knowledge of B. eriospatha, are fundamental and an essential part of conservation planning for this species. Thus, the aim of this study was to establish conservation strategies from genetic and ecological information of B. eriospatha. Based on nuclear DNA analyzes using nine microsatellite markers, the present study evaluates the reproductive system, genetic diversity and structure of eight natural populations of B. eriospatha (n = 920) located in the state of Santa Catarina, Brazil. An additional analysis of a sample of illegally-trafficked B. eriospatha (n = 50) individuals, located in residences of the city of Florianópolis, Santa Catarina, was performed in order to compare levels of genetic diversity with those observed in natural populations. Along with genetic analysis, ecological information, such as phenology, demography, herbivory and predation, were also analyzed in four of the sample populations. Analysis of the reproductive system indicates that B. eriospatha is a species that reproduces primarily through out-crossing (t ?m=0.96). However, the species is self-compatible and reproduction can occur through geitonogamy, indicating the ability of populations, or even isolated individuals, to survive and persist. The levels of genetic diversity found in this study were intermediate and ranged between populations of B. eriosptaha (HE=0.40-0.53; HO=0.22-0.51, AR=2.67-3.67). Rare alleles were observed in most of the studied populations and genetic divergence among populations was high and significant (FST=0.16-0.25, p<0.005), indicating important genetic differences between populations. The presence of rare alleles and genetic differentiation among populations of B. eriospatha attests to the need for in situ conservation of the genetic variability that remains. When compared with the natural populations, the levels of genetic diversity were greater in the individuals that were illegally marketed (HE=0.62, AR=5.11). The presence of rare alleles and high rates of genetic diversity observed in the sample from Florianópolis indicates a high potential for seed collection and the use of seedlings in restoration projects and enrichment of natural populations of B. eriospatha. Moreover, based on Bayesian analysis, the illegally-purchased individuals planted in Florianópolis come from a variety of source populations. Regarding reproductive phenology, the species blooms between October and March, and fruiting occurs from November to July. However, flowering and fruiting were seasonal between observed reproductive events. All the studied natural populations of B. eriospatha, except one, showed a bimodal population structure, consisting of mature plants and seedlings. High rates of herbivory were recorded, indicating that the observed demographic structure is mainly the result of cattle grazing on the regeneration. This conclusion is supported by the occurrence of various ontogenic stages in a population where cattle are not present. Along with the unsustainable use of the fruit and high rates of seed predation, the results discussed herein reflect the level of risk facing B. eriospatha populations. Besides the necessary conservation of the species in a variety of populations, it is important to consider activities that will help prevent the loss of this species, such as mapping and monitoring the remaining populations, combating illegal trade, and preventing cattle grazing in B. eriospatha habitats.

This thesis will examine whether the price level on the market of mobile services in comparison with other countries is high or not. After performing own international price comparison which revealed high price level in both analyzed consumer baskets thesis offers some possible options which could lead to the current high price level on the market. The observed high market concentration is one of the possible solutions and leads to discover several solutions whose analysis shows that high price level in the Czech mobile services market cannot be associated with only one factor. The price level is mainly affected by the absence of more operators which can be partly attributed to the insufficient steps of market regulator - ČTÚ especially in the area of termination fees and lease licenses to operating in mobile networks. Both of these steps are also very important for the future development of the market.

The study of two communities, the maronite and the druze communities in lebanon, takes essentially two points in consideration : the evolution of each community and the power evolution inside each community. The thesis is a study of patron-client relationships among the druzes. Two aristocratic families, the arslans and the joumblatts, continue to command the destiny of the druzes. These two families head two factions that include all the druze families. Patron-client relationships could be explained by four factors : sectarianism and its geographic, economic, political and ideological dimensions, foreign capitalism and the marginalization of the druzes; the religious ideology and the organization of the druze clerics; and finally the political system of the lebanese state which is also on patronclient relationships. The theoretical stand adopted in the thesis is the "neomarxist" approach. At this point i have defined the mode of production, social formation, the articulation and the dislocation of the economic, political and ideological instances in order to study the patron-client relationships among the druzes as dominant precapitalist instances determined in the last analysis by the economic under-development of the druze community

In dieser Arbeit werden die nichtlokalen sowie nichtlinearen Eigenschaften plasmonischer Nanopartikel behandelt, wie sie im hydrodynamischen Modell enthalten sind. Das hydrodynamische Materialmodell stellt eine Erweiterung des Drude Modells dar, in der Korrekturen in der Beschreibung des Elektronenplasmas berücksichtigt werden. Einer ausführlichen Einführung des Materialmodells folgt eine analytische Diskussion der Auswirkungen der Nichtlokalität am Beispiel eines einzelnen Zylinders. Hierbei werden die durch die Nichtlokalität herbeigeführten Frequenzverschiebungen in den Streu- und Absorptionsspektren quantifiziert und asymptotisch behandelt. Des Weiteren wird mit Hilfe einer konformen Abbildung das Problem eines zylindrischen Dimers in der Elektrostatischen Näherung gelöst und die Moden der Struktur bestimmt. Diese Untersuchungen dienen als maßgebliche Grundlage für weiterführende numerische Studien die mit der diskontinuierlichen Galerkin Zeitraummethode durchgeführt werden. Die durch die analytischen Betrachtungen gewonnene Kenntnis der Moden ermöglicht es, im Zusammenhang mit gruppentheoretischen Betrachtungen und numerischen Untersuchungen, rigorose Auswahlregeln für die Anregung der Moden durch lineare und nichtlineare Prozesse aufzustellen. In weiterführenden numerischen Simulationen werden außerdem Strukturen niedrigerer Symmetrie, auf die sich die Auswahlregeln übertragen lassen, untersucht. Zudem werden numerische Studien präsentiert in denen der Einfluss der Nichtlokalität auf Feldüberhöhungen in Dimeren und doppel-resonantes Verhalten (es liegt sowohl bei der Frequenz des eingestrahlten Lichtes als auch bei der zweiten harmonischen eine Resonanz vor) untersucht werden.
This thesis deals with the nonlocal and nonlinear properties of plasmonic nanoparticles, as described by the hydrodynamic model. The hydrodynamic material model represents an extension of the Drude model that contains corrections to the descriptions of the electron plasma. After a thorough derivation of the material model, analytical discussions of nonlocality are presented for the example of a single cylinder. The frequency shifts in the scattering and absorption spectra are quantified and treated asymptotically. Furthermore, by applying a conformal map, the problem of a cylindrical dimer is solved in the electrostatic limit and the modes of the structure are determined. These investigations lay the foundations for numerical investigations which are performed employing the discontinuous Galerkin time domain method. The analytical knowledge of the modes, in conjunction with group theoretical considerations and numerical analysis, enables the formulation of rigorous selection rules for the excitation of modes by linear and nonlinear processes. In further numerical studies, the influence of nonlocality on the field enhancement in dimer structures and double-resonant behavior (a resonance is found at the frequency of the incoming light and at the second harmonic) are investigated.

Embora seja uma palmeira de grande interesse ornamental e comercial, ainda pairam muitas dúvidas relacionadas à produção de mudas. Não há informações científicas sobre os padrões de teste de germinação, como temperatura, substrato, morfologia do diásporo e das plântulas e o comportamento das sementes submetidas ao armazenamento. Desta forma o objetivo deste trabalho foi estudar a germinação de sementes, bem como, a morfologia do diásporo (semente com o endocarpo aderido) e da plântula de A. cunninghamii. Para estudo do efeito da temperatura, foram avaliadas seis regimes de temperaturas (20ºC, 25ºC, 30ºC, 35ºC, 20-30ºC e 25-35ºC), utilizando como substrato vermiculita; o delineamento adotado foi inteiramente casualizado, com 4 repetições de 25 sementes. Para o estudo dos substratos, foram avaliados três substratos (areia, vermiculita e esfagno), na temperatura alternada de 25-35ºC; o delineamento adotado foi o inteiramente casualizado, com 7 repetições de 25 sementes. Para o estudo do efeito da embebição das sementes aproximadamente 1000 sementes foram colocadas para embeber em água destilada, a cada 1 dia uma amostra de 100 sementes era colocada para germinar, onde o período máximo de embebição foi de 7 dias. O experimento contou com 8 tratamentos: semeadura logo após a colheita e de 1 a 7 dias após onde foi utilizado 4 repetições de 25 sementes cada. Among producers because of its possibility as an alternative for the production of palm heart, which leads to an increase in the demand for its seedlings. This palm tree is of great ornamental and commercial interest, there are still many unknown aspects related to seedling production. There is no scientific information about the germination tests such as temperature, germination medium, seedling morphology or the seed behavior during storage. For the study of temperature effect, six temperatures regimes (20ºC, 25ºC, 30ºC, 35ºC, 20-30ºC and 25- 35ºC) were evaluated, using vermiculite as the germination medium. A completely randomized design with four replicates of 25 seeds each was adopted. Three germination media were analyzed (sand, vermiculite and sphagnum) at an alternate temperature of 25-35ºC. For the study of the germination medium, the design adopted was the completely randomized design with seven replicates of 25 seeds each. For the study of the effect of soaking of the seeds, a seedlot containing approximately 1000 seeds was kept in distilled water. Each day, a sample containing 100 seeds was set to germinate. The maximum period of soaking was of seven days, which means that the experiment had eight treatments: sowing right after the harvesting and from day 1 to day 7 after the harvesting, where four replicates of 25 seeds were used for each day. Vernonia brasiliana (L.) Druce Asteraceae, é um arbusto comumente encontrado em áreas ruderais do grande Recife e restos da Mata Atlântica do estado de Pernambuco, sendo vulgarmente conhecida como Tramanhem , guardando parentesco com inúmeros Assa-Peixes do gênero Vernonia. De longa data suas folhas são empregadas na medicina popular, para inibir o reumatismo inflamatório, cólicas hepáticas e em casos de hemorragia. O presente trabalho esboça um estudo farmacognóstico com as folhas do vegetal, onde os aspectos Farmacobotânicos e Farmacoquímicos são aprofundados, fornecendo subsídios à caracterização da matéria prima e correlação com atividade antimicrobiana encontrada frente às bactérias Gram positivas, Micrococcus flavus e Staphylococcus aureus, e leveduras, Candida albicans e Candida krusei, frente às duas moléculas polifenólicas isoladas (metoxiflavonas) e caracterizadas por análise espectroscópica (UV, RMN 1 H e EM). Estas moléculas apresentaram atividade antifúngica, inibindo até 23 mm. Igualmente, foi isolado e caracterizado o Acetato de b-amirina, triterpeno sem correlação com as indicações etnofarmacológicas. Ensaios de toxicidade, antiedema e analgesia também foram efetuados, sem apresentarem um significado maior. Um screening cromatográfico com extrato foliar metanólico mostrou a presença de polifenóis (glicosídeos de flavonóides, derivados cinâmicos e agliconas), terpenóides (triterpenos, sesquiterpenos, monoterpenos, incluindo dois iridóides) e açúcares redutores, ausência de cumarinas, fenilpropanoglicosídeos, taninos (proantocianidinas condensadas e gálicos), saponósidos e alcalóides

Resumo: A Toca de Assis é uma comunidade católica com proposta de vida religiosa consagrada, oriunda da cidade de Campinas (SP) desde o ano de 1994. Adotando como método a pesquisa de campo, analiso tal comunidade em sua dimensão simbólica e ritual a partir de sua proposta de resgate da "verdadeira Igreja Católica" por vias da experiência pessoal e imediata com Deus. Acompanhando a Toca de Assis desde o ano de 2005, a presente pesquisa indica um processo de tensão e mudanças em sua relação com o meio social e com a instituição hierárquica da Igreja Católica. A partir das relações sociais e práticas religiosas da Toca de Assis, proponho uma etnografia que pense a máquina de atualização do mito cristão nos limites de uma comunidade local em conexão com a autoridade romana, assim como nos limites da experiência pessoal em conexão com a instituição eclesiástica
Abstract: Toca de Assis is a Catholic community with proposed consecratedlife, originating from Campinas (SP) city since 1994. Based on fieldwork, I analyze the community's symbolic and ritual dimension from its proposal of rescue of the "true Catholic Church" by ways of personal and immediate experience with God. Following Toca de Assis since 2005, this research indicates a process of tension and changes in its relation with society and the hierarchical institution of Catholic Church. Based on its social relationships and religious habits, I show an ethnography that thinks the christian's myth actualizing machine from the limits of a local community in connection with the roman authority, as well from the limits of the personal experience in connection with the ecclesiastical institution

Né au Liban trois décennies avant le démantèlement de l'Empire ottoman dont il a été un des plus fidèles serviteurs, l'émir ʿAdil Arslan (1888-1954) s'est, dès 1918, engagé dans un dévouement absolu à la cause arabe. Il apparaît dans le premier Gouvernement arabe de Faysal à Damas (1918-1920), comme conseiller auprè́s de l'émir ʿAbdallah à Amman (1920-1924), comme chef d'une unité de combattants druses durant la grande Révolte syrienne (1926-1929), et sera, à l'indépendance de la Syrie, Ministre de l'Instruction Publique et Vice-président de la délégation syrienne à l'ONU, député du Golan, Ministre des Affaires étrangères et Vice-président de la République sous Husnî-z-Zʿaîm, et Ministre plénipotentiaire syrien en Turquie. Adversaire du Mandat français au Levant, il l'est tout autant du sionisme en Palestine. De longues années d'exil en Iraq (1933-1937) et en Turquie (1941-1945) ont complété l'image de figure de proue du nationalisme de l'émir. Mais elles ont aussi contribué à le faire disparaître de l'histoire nationale syrienne. Son parcours politique illustre à lui seul le hiatus entre, d'une part, le contexte d'élaboration et d'exaltation du nationalisme arabe, et, d'autre part, l'affirmation des États et de leurs frontières. Les Mudhakkirât (sorte de journal de bord en l'occurrence) que ʿAdil Arslân a rédigées entre 1934 et 1953 en témoignent. Elles permettent aussi de comprendre la propre représentation que cet émir druse aux origines arabes nobles a eue de lui-même. A celles-ci correspondent des devoirs qu'il s'attribue, et qui, dans une large mesure, constituent le moteur de son action à l'intérieur de régimes dont il dénonce le fonctionnement et la politique. Ce statut social, que l'État ottoman a su reconnaître et valoriser, est aussi un instrument entretenu par l'émir pour s'imposer tant sur la scène politique orientale, que face à des interlocuteurs occidentaux. Emir ʿAdil Arslân was born in Lebanon three decades before the dismantling of the Ottoman Empire, and was one of its most loyal supporters. As early as 1918 he devoted himself to the Arab cause. He appeared in the first Arab government headed by Faysal in Damascus (1918-1920), as a counsellor of Emir ʿAbdallaj in Amman (1920-1924), as the chief of a unit of Druze fighters during the Great Syrian Revolt (1926-1929) and was to be after the independence of Syria, Minister of Public Instruction, Vice President of the Syrian delegation at UNO, a representative for Golan, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Vice President of the Republic under the rule of Husnî-z-Zaʿîm, and, finally plenipotentiary Minister of Syria in Turkey. He opposed the French Mandate in the Levant and Zionism in Palestine with equal vigour. Long years of exile in Iraq (1933-1937) and in Turkey (1941-1945) completed his image of figurehead of Arab nationalism, but they also contributed to make him disappear from Syria's national history. The Mudhakkirât (a sort of logbook as it is) that Emir ʿAdil Arslân wrote up between 1934 and 1953, go to show. They also enable to understand the representation that this Druze emir of noble Arab descent had of himself. These origins entailed duties that he attributed to himself, which, to a large extent, constitute the driving force behind his action within regimes the functioning and the policies of which he denounced. This social status, that the Ottoman Empire did recognize and promote was also an instrument kept alive by the emir to make a name for himself on the Eastern political scene as well as in relation to Western interlocutors. His role was played in the corridors of power which is what his account reveals

In the present work the Drude weight is calculated to study the capacity of conduction at finite temperatures in one-dimensional rings with the potencial given by the sequences of different degrees of randomness and threaded by a time independent magnetic flux. In this context, the tight-binding approximation is used to solve the Schrödinger equation,also permitting the potencials, given by substitution sequences, to be implemented in a simple way. We study four situations in which the potencial is given by periodic and random sequence. The transport properties exhibited by the system in each case are to reflect the degree of randomness presented by these potencials, although in a nontrivial manner if one considers a hierarchy of disorder based on the Fourier transform of the sequences. The role played by temperature in the capacity of conduction, as compared with the role played by the potencials, is also described.
No presente trabalho, através do cálculo do peso de Drude estudamos a capacidade de condução a temperaturas finitas, em anéis unidimensionais com potenciais dados por seqüências de diferentes graus de desordem e atravessados por fluxo magnético independente do tempo. Neste contexto, utilizamos o modelo tight-binding na resolução da equação de Schrödinger, o que permite inserir os potenciais, dados por seqüências de substituição, de maneira simples. Estudamos quatro casos em que esse potencial seja dado por seqüências não periódicas. Os resultados são comparados com os dois casos limites de organização, a saber, as seqüências periódica e desordenada. Observa-se que o grau de desordem apresentado por estes potenciais reflete-se nas propriedades de transporte exibidas pelo sistema em cada caso, embora de maneira não trivial se considerada uma hierarquia de desordem baseada na transformada de Fourier das seqüências. Descreve-se também a influência da temperatura, frente à influência dos potenciais, na capacidade de condução.
