Cotton crop response was evaluated using the growth regulator FIX in a conventional liquid formulation compared to an equivalent rate of a newly developed dry flowable (DF) formulation. The DF formulation will be available in 1996 in water soluble packets with each 57 gram packet the equivalent of one pint liquid PIX. Both formulations regulated plant height and height:node ratios equally.

The overall aim of the thesis was to investigate the aerosol performance and physico-chemical properties of dry powder formulations produced by co-milling an Active Pharmaceutical Ingredient (API- Beclomethasone Dipropionate - BDP) with an additive (Magnesium Stearate - MGST), using the jet mill apparatus, for high dose delivery. Co-milled formulations were produced at the set concentration of 1% w/w BDP, varying concentrations of MGST (0%-7.5% w/w), adding lactose as the final bulking agent. Abstract:
The technique of producing inhalable particles (<5μm) for dry powder inhaler (DPI) formulations mostly involves crystallization followed by high energy input size reduction systems (e.g., milling and homogenization), which produces particles with very high surface energy and poor flow property that restricts the efficient dispersion of drug from the formulations. This investigation has used an anti-solvent precipitation crystallization (APC) method of producing inhalable ibuprofen (IBP) crystals for pulmonary delivery from a DPI formulation.

Yes
Two different types of dry powder inhalers (Easyhaler® and RS01®) were used in this work to evaluate the ex vivo and in vitro performance of a budesonide inhaled formulation with recrystallised mannitol, commercial DPI-grade mannitol, or lactose. The aerodynamic performance of the budesonide formulation with recrystallised mannitol was superior when RS01® was used (FPF = 45.8%) compared to Easyhaler® (FPF = 14%). However, the aerodynamic profile was very poor in both devices when commercial mannitol was used. Interestingly, the aerosol performance of the marketed budesonide formulation

Abstract:
Advancements in pulmonary drug delivery technologies have improved the use of dry powder inhalation therapy to treat respiratory and systemic diseases. Despite remarkable improvements in the development of dry powder inhaler devices (DPIs) and formulations in the last few years, an optimized DPI system has yet to be developed. In this work, we hypothesize that Thin Film Freezing (TFF) is a suitable technology to improve inhalation therapies to treat lung and systemic malignancies due to its ability to produce brittle powder with optimal aerodynamic properties. Also, we developed a performance

This quality is measured by employing a standard compaction test, which provides a standard with which density may be compared, called the maximum dry density, and the moisture content of the soil at which this is achieved, called the optimum moisture content. In this work, dry powder formulations (DPFs) containing fusidic acid were produced for the purpose of studying the pulmonary delivery of this drug. As fusidic acid is poorly soluble in aqueous media, this drug was conjugated with two different hydrophilic polymers to increase the bioavailability of the drug. The two hydrophilic polymers used were methoxypolyethylene glycol amine, a commercial product, and poly(2-ethyl-2-oxazoline), that was synthesized by supercritical-assisted CO2 polymerization and then end-capped with ethylenediamine. The conjugation compounds were synthesized in one-pot r

Lower respiratory infections were the leading cause of sickness and mortality in 2013.1 The treatment of such infections relies on antibiotic therapy. However, antibiotic resistance to human pathogens and the prevalence of new cancer types continues to increase, so it is imperative not only to discover new lead-like drugs agents, but also develop new drug delivery systems for pulmonary diseases.2,3 In order to achieve such goal, it was isolated and elucidated antibacterial compounds from a marine-sediment-derived Actinobacteria, collected along Madeira archipelago. These bioactive compounds we

Tese de mestrado, Engenharia Farmacêutica, Universidade de Lisboa, Faculdade de Farmácia, 2018
The Pharmaceutical industry is increasingly investing in biopharmaceuticals. Moreover, alternative delivery routes are being investigated over the conventional parenteral administration route, which presents several inconveniences for the patients including discomfort, pain and the impossibility of self-administration in the majority of cases. Thus, pulmonary and nasal delivery are emerging as alternative administration routes for the treatment of systemic diseases and administration of biopharmac
