Abstract:
Open Source Software (OSS) communities are often international, bringing together people from diverse regions with different linguistic and cultural backgrounds. National user groups can bolster these international communities by convening local events, championing the software to peers, welcoming and onboarding new contributors, raising money to support the broader community, and collecting important information on user’s needs. The open source community-led software DSpace has had great success encouraging the creation of national user groups; in the UK, North America, and Germany, the Groups have been active for many years. However, it was in 2018, thanks to a renewed focus on international engagement and more diverse representation of the global community in governance groups, that the national communities entered into a new phase: 15 new national User Groups have been formed all over the world since then, while the German user group evolved into the “DSpace-Konsortium Deutschland”, founded by 25 institutions, marking a pivotal point for membership options and National User Group participation within DSpace Governance. This article will offer an overview of the historical development of the DSpace community and its governance model, as well as DuraSpace’s international engagement strategy, including its benefits and challenges. Subsequently, we will present a case study on the DSpace-Konsortium Deutschland and explain its relation to the broader context of how to build national user groups within global communities.

Abstract:
Purpose – India occupies second position among the countries that have adopted DSpace open source software for institutional repositories (IRs)/digital libraries (DLs). The purpose of this paper is to examine the reasons for DSpace being preferred over other software. It inspects various instances of Indian web-based DSpace systems including the nature and growth of collection, the geographical distribution of DSpace systems and the types of institutions that adopt and maintain DSpace. Design/methodology/approach – Data were collected from the official website of DSpace, Google search and from online discussion forums during July 2013 to January 2014. The 132 Indian DSpace links provided in the official DSpace website were examined. Further search was carried out on Google to identify Indian IRs and DLs that are not listed by the official website. A list of Indian DSpace websites prepared by the authors was sent to the online discussion forums for further updating. An online directory of Indian DSpace websites was created using WordPress which provided for the adding of comments. The study is limited to the web-based DSpace IRs and DLs in India. Findings – The majority of the Indian IRs and DLs listed on the official website of DSpace are not visible on the internet. Many links lead to institution websites, commercial websites and personal pages of authors. Out of 132 DSpace links, only 55 are visible on the internet to search and use. Indian libraries prefer DSpace over EPrints, Fedora and Greenstone. Many institutions could not maintain continuity of their DSpace systems in the online environment. Institutions having more funding are maintaining web-based DSpace systems. The size, economic conditions, rate of literacy and number of universities in an Indian state do not influence the maintenance of digital systems. Academic institutions involving universities, technical institutions and colleges lead in the adoption and maintenance of web-based DSpace in India. Private universities and colleges have adopted DSpace for IR/DL. Public libraries constitute a minimum percentage of web-based DSpace instances. Indian courts and Parliament have adopted DSpace. Shodhganga, the Indian ETD project, is running on DSpace. Originality/value – This is the first paper examining the adoption of DSpace by Indian libraries with a focus on online visibility and the strength of collection. It can be used to understand the pattern of technology adoption by Indian libraries over the years.

Abstract:
DSpace, a free and open-source software (FOSS) provides the digital platform for building collections of an institution. Due to the lack of the skills to install and configure DSpace, librarians are incapable to conduct it even after the awareness about it. Identifying challenges about DSpace installation is vital to increase its use by librarians. Hence, it aims to explore the understanding of DSpace installation among librarians and to identify aspects of their experiences and feelings while installing DSpace. Librarians' experiences and feelings are important for accepting the software. Librarians were interviewed during the training program conducted on digital library technology from December 2020 to January 2021. Two groups were distinguishing from each other: one is with a library science background and another is with computer science and engineering background. The second group aswas self-sustained to install DSpace, once they got the guidelines for installation. Their views were reflected with the code terms status, exploration, feeling, activities, preferences, and inadequacy. Through their experiences, the aspects of challenges are the less experience of using the command line in computer use, the unavailability of teaching courses on Linux operating system in Library and Information Science (LIS) education, and the lack of self-exploration habits. Practice to Linux commands, incorporate the Linux in the Library Science course, self-exploration, and consistent effort will help librarians in installing DSpace by themselves. Finally, librarians should internalize their goal to act as the administrator for the DSpace, not only as of the operator.

Abstract:
The main purpose of the integration of network media and middle school ideological and political course is to better realize the moral education function of middle school ideological and political development. The use of resource integration technology to manage distributed teaching resources is conducive to improving the level of information construction in colleges and universities, and so on. This paper puts forward the integration system of ideological and political multimedia network teaching resources based on wireless network. Firstly, it presents an overview of the Radio Resource Management (RRM) problem and projected strategies within wireless network framework, where several Radio Access Technologies (RATs) are collectively controlled and identify the different activities relating to the CRRM issues. Secondly, this paper targets providing a summary of the RRM problem and projected solutions within wireless network. Thirdly, the theoretical elements of the design and the teaching resource management assessment process are clarified by using XML as the data exchange carrier to realize the automatic integration of teaching resources. Fourthly, we have used dSPACE platform, by calling its API function, which then call the subscribe function of dSPACE framework and store the subscription information in the database. Whenever new teaching resources enter the subscribed field, the dSPACE framework will automatically send e-mail to the subscribers. Finally, during the operation of the system, all functions operate normally and have strong security, so as to avoid the illegal theft or leakage of the data about the education system.

Abstract:
<p>Nowadays, the elimination of the speed sensor in Permanent Magnet Synchronous Machine (PMSM) is greatly recommended to increase efficiency and reduce the cost of the drives. This paper proposes a simple estimator for speed and rotor position of PMSM drives using adaptive controller. The novelties of the proposed method are the simple estimator equations and the absence of the voltage probe which depend on direct and quadrature reference current only. The simplified mathematical model of the PMSM is formulated by using <em>V-I</em> model, based on adaptive control. Then, the speed estimation error of the voltage and current model based are analyzed. Thus, an adaptation mechanism model is established to cancel the error of the measured and estimated <em>d-q</em> currents. Since the output of the estimator is the position feedback, the performances of speed responses are presented. The hardware implementation of proposed sensorless drives is realized via dSPACE DS11103 panel. dSPACE Real Time Implementation (RTI) is the linkage between software and hardware set-up. It automatically processes the MATLAB Simulink model into dSPACE DS11103 processor. The experimental-hardware results demonstrate that the speed and position estimator of the proposed method is able to control the PMSM drives for forward and reverse of speed command, acceleration, deceleration and robustness to load disturbance.</p>

Abstract:
Background: Given the increasing number and heterogeneity of data repositories, an improvement and harmonisation of practice within repositories for clinical trial data is urgently needed. The objective of the study was to develop and evaluate a demonstrator repository, using a widely used repository system (DSpace), and then explore its suitability for providing access to individual participant data (IPD) from clinical research. Methods: After a study of the available options, DSpace (version 6.3) was selected as the software for developing a demonstrator implementation of a repository for clinical trial data. In total, 19 quality criteria were defined, using previous work assessing clinical data repositories as a guide, and the demonstrator implementation was then assessed with respect to those criteria. Results: Generally, the performance of the DSpace demonstrator repository in supporting sensitive personal data such as that from clinical trials was strong, with 14 requirements demonstrated (74%), including the necessary support for metadata and identifiers. Two requirements could not be demonstrated (inability to incorporate de-identification tools in the submission workflow, lack of a self-attestation system) and three requirements were only partially demonstrated (ability to provide links to de-identification tools and requirements, incorporation of a data transfer agreement in system workflow, and capability to offer managed access through application on a case by case basis). Conclusions: Technically, the system was able to support most of the pre-defined requirements, though there are areas where support could be improved. Of course, in a productive repository, appropriate policies and procedures would be needed to direct the use of the available technical features. A technical evaluation should therefore be seen as indicating a system’s potential, rather than being a definite assessment of its suitability. DSpace clearly has considerable potential in this context and appears a suitable base for further exploration of the issues around storing sensitive data.

Abstract:
A model-based development method for electric power steering (EPS) system has been explored. A practicable model for the EPS system has been established in a full vehicle mechanical system environment. The performance of the electric control system of the EPS system has been evaluated in this static analysis environment. The model has then been used in a dynamic test environment based on dSPACE hardware and software, including Software-in-the-Loop and Hardware-in-the-Loop. The test result validates the simulation model, and shows that this development method can be used to evaluate the conceptual design of the EPS system as well as the control software design and testing.

Abstract:
The aim of the paper is to describe an approach for modeling the dynamic behavior of a positioning system actuated by two shape memory alloy springs, placed in opposition. The mathematical analysis of the system in order to develop the dynamic model is difficult in this case because of the unknown parameters within the dynamic equations (thermodynamics, change in austenite fraction) and therefore a new approach is presented. Thus, a positioning system is considered, and its behavior is determined using Matlab Software, D-space platform and an optical sensor, which analyses the position/velocity of the moving cart. The dynamic model of the system is determined in order to develop a further model based control technique. The model is generated using system identification toolbox within Matlab and input and output (response) of the considered system.

To compare the performance of these traditional algorithms, the speed control of a brushless DC drive system is implemented in real-time, using these two methods. The parameters in the controller can be adjusted by the hardware and the software to achieve the optimum performance of the closed-loop system. The experiment results proved that these two controllers have their own merit and defect according to the different steady-state performance and dynamic response respectively. It is concluded that the PID and the Bang-Bang controllers could be used in different applications.

Abstract:
Towards Interoperable Preservation Repositories (TIPR) is a project funded by the Institute of Museum and Library Services to create and test a Repository eXchange Package (RXP). The package will make it possible to transfer complex digital objects between dissimilar preservation repositories. For reasons of redundancy, succession planning and software migration, repositories must be able to exchange copies of archival information packages with each other. Every different repository application, however, describes and structures its archival packages differently. Therefore each system produces dissemination packages that are rarely understandable or usable as submission packages by other repositories. The RXP is an answer to that mismatch. Other solutions for transferring packages between repositories focus either on transfers between repositories of the same type, such as DSpace-to-DSpace transfers, or on processes that rely on central translation services. Rather than build translators between many dissimilar repository types, the TIPR project has defined a standards-based package of metadata files that can act as an intermediary information package, the RXP, a lingua franca all repositories can read and write.

Abstract:
Purpose – The purpose of this paper is to explore the Open Source Software (OSS) market relevant to Indian libraries and more specifically, to review the existing library automation, i.e. Integrated Library Management System (ILMS) and Digital Library (DL) software solutions. Design/methodology/approach – Survey method was adopted to collect data for this study and the sample population for this study included 356 library professionals. Findings – The study findings indicate presence of OSS like Koha and NewGenLib in the ILMS category and Dspace, Eprints and Greenstone in the DL software category in India. The study also indicates that there is considerable interest among Indian libraries to adopt or migrate to OSS. Research limitations/implications – The sample included largely, more than 80 percent, responses from the academic library segment and hence the results and analysis maybe more skewed to the academic library segment. However the implications of this study could be extended to other type of libraries and facilitate library professionals to make software choices with respect to library automation. Originality/value – In addition to exploring the opportunities of OSS implementation in Indian libraries, the study includes issues related to migration, implementation, budget, training, etc. The study would have value for library professionals and OSS vendors to understand the Indian library market in the context of OSS.

For the real-time hardware-in-the-loop simulation of railway rolling stock electric drive system, the equation of equivalent circuit state is the most conventional modeling method. But this method will take up too many resources of real-time simulation system or is not easy to extend to other projects and difficult to adjust the variables on line. By taking the inductor, resistor, capacitor and converter in the equivalent circuit of four-quadrant converter system as the basic components, and using the Kirchhoff laws of voltage and current to combine the basic components, this paper established a new simulation model software based on MATLAB and realized real-time calculation based on dSPACE platform. Abstract:
There are various uncertain factors such as parameter perturbation and external disturbance during the steering process of a permanent magnet slip clutch electronically controlled hydraulic power steering system (P-ECHPS) of medium and heavy duty vehicles, which is an electronically controlled hydraulic power steering system based on a permanent magnetic slip clutch (PMSC). In order to avoid the immutable single assistance characteristic of a hydraulic power steering system, a PMSC speed-controlled model and P-ECHPS of each subsystem model were studied. Combined with non-singular terminal sliding mode and fast terminal sliding mode, an Adaptive Non-singular Fast Terminal Sliding (ANFTS) mode control strategy was proposed to control precisely the rotor speed of the PMSC in P-ECHPS, thus achieving better power control for the entire P-ECHPS system. The simulation results show that adaptive nonsingular fast terminal sliding mode control enables PMSC output speed to track the target speed. Compared with the non-singular terminal sliding mode control and the ordinary sliding mode control, the convergence speed has been improved by 66.7% and 84.2%, respectively. The rapid control prototype test of PMSC based on dSPACE (dSPACE is a development and verification platform based on MATLAB/Simulink software.) was carried out. The validity of the adaptive NFTSM algorithm and the correctness of the offline simulation results are validated. The adaptive NFTSM algorithm have better robustness and can realize variable assist characteristics and save energy.

One ferm of scientific recognition indicators for research institution is the number of research articles in scientific publications (journals, proceedings) whether printed or digital form. Scientific publications are usually available in digital format and as a link to the website of each research center as publisher of the publication. Problems that occur with the digital form of scientific publications are difficulties for users to find information, because they have to search them on each research center web sites to obtain the topic. The study chose the appropriate application to integrate the scattered scientific publications into an Institutional Repository, therefore of the user would be easier to trace information and increased Indonesian Agency for Agricultural Research and Development (IAARD) scientific recognition. Purpose – There is no proposed solution to address the unresolved issues of publishing music-related electronic theses and dissertations (ETDs) pertaining to technology availability, copyright, and preservation. The purpose of this paper is to propose a complete system, including technology development and publishing model, which addresses the existing issues of publishing music-related ETDs. The paper shares the practice of utilizing the system developed by Texas Tech University Libraries known as Streaming Audio and Video Experience (SAVE), and proposes it as a solution for other multimedia collections. Design/methodology/approach – The proposed system includes a technology solution and a publishing model. The technology solution, SAVE, contains an authenticated streaming multimedia player, a responsive-design user interface, and a web-based submission and management system. The publishing model combines a DSpace-based institutional repository (IR) with SAVE and preservation strategies. Findings – The integrated system of SAVE and DSpace-based IR expands the access of music-related ETDs and other multimedia collections to patrons, benefits the distance education students as well as the local students, facilitates professors’ classroom teaching, and helps to preserve physical multimedia items by avoiding check-outs. Originality/value – The SAVE solution resolves issues of publishing music-related ETDs, fulfills the local needs of publishing hundreds of music-related ETDs from the College of Visual and Performing Arts, and supports the publishing of other multimedia collections. The software will be released open source to the public for other universities’ use. The publishing model is also useful for those universities that intend to integrate an IR with the streaming player platform.

One of primary factor is to make up exclusive controller which can generate fast linear current output. Thus, this paper developed the exclusive AMB controller mounted high speed DSP which can operate so fast control calculation that improve system response ability. Especially, to consider the fusion of AMB system and control software, the development is conducted in HILS system with dSPACE from the beginning. Although HILS system is adopted, the developed ABM controller simplified the whole system and could make up optimized control algorithm promptly by measuring and applying the system gain and characteristics of them monitored by the HILS system in real time.

Abstract:
The paper describes theoretical and experimental investigation of applying Bouc-Wen model in displacement modeling of piezelectric ring benders. Under the increasing demand for more accurate position control systems, various hysteresis models appropriate for control purpose of mechanical systems have been proposed. Most of these models are based on phenomenological approach, for example: Prandtl–Ishlinskii or Krasnosel’skii-Pokrovskii and other, friction based like Maxwell-slip model. This paper presents a model described in analytical form, called the Bouc-Wen model, appropriate for position control purpose. Paper presents histeresis investigation results of Noliac CMBR05 ring bender under different voltages. Furthermore, article depicts how model was numerically implemented and investigated on dSpace Control System with Matlab Simulink Software for future research on real time position control with inverted hysteresis model.

Abstract:
ETDs are the Swiss-army-knife which has unearthed the shades of grey by bringing forth the until now hidden research to the forefront of the world. ETDs powered by open source software like DSpace, EPrints build up information ecosystem for effective storage and retrieval of theses and dissertations which take years of hard work to culminate. Such systems need to be evaluated as its purpose gets defeated if users find it hard to retrieve desired information from it. Webometrics involves the study of the web through which one can analyze the number of hyperlinks, type and structure of the hyperlinks, website usage and its effectiveness. The present article is an attempt to assess the performance of online portal of the national ETD repository of India by using Web Analyzer Test Score (WATS). It also highlights the status of Open Access (OA) ETD repositories with respect to other OA content like research papers, conference papers, etc. along with exploring the software used for Indian ETD Repositories. The overall score of the webometric analysis was found to be 6.4.

Abstract:
An Anti-Windup (AW) compensator is applied to the Embedded Cylindrical-Array Magnetic Actuator (ECAMA) to sustain the performance of spindle position regulation for milling machines under actuator saturation. Since ECAMA is a type of Active Magnetic Bearing (AMB), the maximum supplied coil current and the induced magnetic force are both limited by their extrema. Once the magnetic actuator is saturated, the required control input cannot be realized by the actuator as long as the magnitude of control input exceeds the upper limit of the actuator output. In this work, an AW compensator is therefore proposed and employed to compensate the output of PID controller to prevent saturation of ECAMA. By employing commercial software MATLAB/Simulink and signal processing interface, Module DS1104 by dSPACE, the efficacy of the AW compensation is practically verified by intensive experiments.
