The Ming Dynasty was a very special era; it was a period that had both an opened minded society as well as conservative traditionalist governed by law and order. Under the influence of this diverse culture, publishings of woman’s educational literature was at its peak. One of the iconic piece of work amongst these literatures was Xia Shu Fang’s “NuJing”, a masterpiece that was very meaningful and highly valued during Ming Dynasty that was able to withstand time and be passed down through generations. Xia Shu Fang’s(1551~1635)also known as “Xia mào qīng” ; who styled herself as “Xi chi” and “Bing lian dao ren”, was a great intellectual of her time who never wanted to be involved with the politics and chose to live in the mountains with her mother while focused on her writings. As a result, she has left the world with thirteen publications, which can be categorized into 5 themes: education; literature; teaching of Zen; social studies and reference books. Her work compiles many different aspects, through studying of her work and as a person; we can take a peak into the life of an intellectual from the Ming Dynasty. She did not quite make the fame and success during her life but gave back to the society by writing books that can influence the generation; trying their luck to find a chance to make their work last through out the history. In this thesis, we explore Xia Shu Fang’s life’s work, and analyze the content and the educational values of “NuJing” in two parts. First of all, when exploring “NuJing's" content, we start from analyzing the general influence such as the background in which the book was written in; the intention why it was written and how it was compiled. To gain a better understanding of what the ideal woman of that era was, we then analyze and move onto discussions about how typical female image was portrayed in “NuJing”, and the literature characteristics of how it was written. Secondly, the educational values of “NuJing” can be broken down into three segments; educational characteristics, gender awareness and the educational content. Lastly, through the use of active surveying, we will design learning materials related to “NuJing’s” content and test it on current students to gain an understanding of the influence it has on Taiwan’s education. The thesis tries to make the past serve the present, combining what happened in the past and compare it with the present trends. In addition, incorporate classic literature with educational activities in hope to advance our Chinese education curriculums. We hope to build up more characteristics and depth plus expand the level of our students' thoughts and vision. Mans lastly, to allow other educational partners to continue this research.

“Chun Qiu Shu Fa” is a type of traditional Chinese historical narrative method which was derived from Confucius’s sepical technique of writing for amending “Chun Qiu”. Firstly, the author could express his emotions to the motherland and human relations in an immortal way. Secondly, the author was still able to express his subjective consciousness and record his judgments on the merits and demerits as well as implications in the historical records under the condition when it was inconvenient for him to express his opinions explicitly. In order to assist governance by virtue of history, the author often made use of highly concise rhetoric skills and language expression. Therefore, it shows great aesthetic effect and is referenced in various literary forms of traditional literature. In the long history of traditional historical biography writing in China, “Chun Qiu Shu Fa” is deemed as a role model for history recording and a paramount criterion for history judgment. Chen Shou lived in Wei and Jin Dynasties which shared similar external political pressure of “badly-governed country” with late Spring and Autumn Period when Confucius lived. Numerous “hisotical disasters” occurred at the end of Han Dynasty as well as Wei and Jin Dynasties, which were constantly recorded. Chen Shou also attempted to comment, saying: “It’s common for prestigious persons in turbulent days to die in their boots, only few of them can survive”. Chen Shou had great scholarly attainments and cultivation. He was proficient in Gong Yang Zhuan, Zuo Zhuan and Gu Liang Zhuan, Shi Ji as well as Han Shu. However, he who was dissocial and haughty never yielded to power. In face of the turbulent days which forced him to speak cautiously and act prudently in order to avoid harms in that time, using “Chun Qiu Shu Fa” became an important task for him when he wrote “San Guo Zhi” under the influences of his scholarly attainments and cultivation, characters and external environment. This paper observed and intepreted the thoeries of “Chun Qiu Shu Fa” to analyze and dispose numerous phenomena and problems in Chen Shou's “San Guo Zhi”. Moreover, the text of “San Guo Zhi” was read profoundly to dig its meaning, and then the text was interpreted in line with the theories of “Chun Qiu Shu Fa”. In this way, the theory and text were studied alternatively. The theses refined was studied in a manner of studying “Yi” before “Fa” from different perspectives of study of Confucian classics, thought or literature. “Thirty spokes gather at one hub.” Finally, this paper aims at jointly consturcting the panorama of “Chun Qiu Shu Fa” in Chen Shou's “San Guo Zhi” in line with the aspects of “Chun Qiu Shu Fa” reflected from these perspectives respectively.

My parents grew up in Taiwan during the period of Japanese colonial rule. After the Republic of China relocated its government to Taiwan, their earlier personal stories were all sealed in memories. During the time when Martial Law was enforced, some topics were unspeakable in conversations. Occasionally, while I was playing around my parents, they would talk about the life they used to have; these real-life stories were, to me, as if ancient folklores. Sometimes my parents would take out from a well-kept wooden box silver yuan, the currency used during Japanese occupation. Those neatly folded discolored banknotes emitted an indistinct moldy smell; this is part of my childhood memories – the vanished currency. Along with the turning of the giant wheel of time, came the progress of technology. The development of Internet and Cloud technologies has made mass communication much faster and more common and transcended the boundaries between countries. This is especially the case for China and Taiwan; through the interaction of trade and economy, art and culture, the political relationship between Taiwan and China has gradually interweaved. On top of that, Taiwanese and Chinese people are bound by blood. Consequently, the doctrine of One-China policy has emerged and become a controversial and recurring agenda. Maybe like the Eurozone, eventually the currencies between these two regions will be unified; New Taiwan Dollars and their jingling sounds will become “historical relics”. As a native-born Taiwanese, I love the land of Taiwan. This deep love leads to constant, vague worries about the prospect of Taiwan. I wonder if someday Taiwanese currency will turn into mere memories, same as the “folklores” from Japanese occupation period. The notions of “vanished currency” and “historical relics” have been lingering in my mind. What are my feelings hidden underneath? Anxiety? Fear? Or commiseration? My parents’ experiences were a lesson for me to remember. v By creating artistic motifs, I attempted to convert those currencies and the stories behind them into eternal codes. Hopefully, via my work of art, the genuine care for this land could arise in the Taiwanese society. Moreover, through artistic images, an encouraging, festive energy is conveyed to the public and the promising insight towards our future could spread.

With the evolution of thousands of years of history, Chinese calligraphy has become a form of evolution of Chinese cultural spirit and continuously developed into an important method for art conversation and cultural exchange during the process of inheritance. This research adopted the cultural spirit of calligraphy for literature review to find the combinative contents and design out the interactive device. The calligraphic cultural value consciousness and location of calligraphic culture need to face new challenge and prudent thinking. This creation designed the contents respectively in two directions: 1) stroke order: learn the design of calligraphy through stroke order; 2) strength: this paper focuses on how to explore the design combination of the two interactive devices to make a creative attempt through the strength made in martial art. The creation in this research was conducted in a manner of interactive art, where users can experience the interaction method of the two creations. Five subjects including experts and general public were tested, and the audience was interviewed through qualitative research method. After the integration and generalization, this research adopted body phenomenology to find out that users perceive interactive device through body awareness and concluded three key points, respectively “interaction method”, “interaction process” and “interaction purpose”. Based on the relationship between the 3 factors, the two pieces of works in this creation were taken as the example and this research proposed the design for the three factors: the design of interaction method should not be too complicated and there should not be great difference in the correlation between interaction method and the content of works. During the design of interaction process of works, the users’ freedom should not be restricted to make users have more choices. If the appropriate feedback is provided, the works will become more interesting; both the interaction method and interaction process affect users’ understanding of works. As long as the works are designed perfectly, users can easily understand the interaction purpose.

The difference between the geographical environment of the origins of the Western and Chinese culture results in different cultural connotations. This means that the “guest” and the “form” of the traditional art are totally, too. However, from the impressionism to the present, the mainstream of modern art is no longer to reproduce nature but to express the sentiment as the principle of art. Since Xu Beihong, Lin Fengmian the blend of modern Chinese and Western painting and art has been more than half a century, their greatest contribution is to provide modern artist a multi-faceted thinking and creative possibilities. Modern artist like Matisse, Picasso are saying that his style of painting is subject to the influence of Chinese paintings. With the multi-directional exchange and permeation of Chinese and Western cultures, the new trend of cultural pluralism and co-generation has to be changed with the changes of nature in the art of painting and changed with times. In addition, it must have its own unique personality and uniqueness style of painting, that is, “I am my own, I am there” This thesis is divided into six parts, the key issues of each sections are as follows: Chapter One: Describing the research motivation and purpose, research contents and methods. Chapter Two: Exploring the similarities and Differences of Connotation and Form of Chinese and Western Paintings. Chapter Three: Exploration of the similarity, Similarity and Non-Similarity between Chinese and Western Paintings, the Similar1ities and the Simplification, Microcosmic, and Macro Representations. Chapter Four: Explores the fusion of the hot abstraction in the Chinese painting and the expressionism and subjective emotion of the Western Expressionism. The fifth chapter: the proof of the theory basis, the transformation and practice of the content form. The works are categorized as “Ancient Italian Intense Love Series”, “Like Unfavored Series” and “Lucky God Series”, interpreting creative ideas and analyzing the formal contents and expressions of works. Chapter 6: I think so I’m being, find your own painting vocabulary. View creative process, do not forget the original intention and develop unlimited possibilities.

The purpose of the research is devoted to the Qiqiao Typeface style of YAN Heng’s Ting Yue Shan Fang Qi Qiao Shu Pu(1892). The research explores the tangram old books of the Qing dynasty in order to discuss the first creation of tangram typeface that emerged in 1800s. The time of 1860s witnesses a great number of tangram typefaces stylistically designed by tangram graph. This continues to exist until 1890s, the time when Ting Yue Shan Fang Qi Qiao Shu Pu was published, which adopts tangram style to print the Typefaces of this book. This proves that tangram is, for the first time, regarded as a style of Typeface. Hence, the study deems that tangram develops its own history, culturally rich for its unique aesthetic value of character design, though it is not a common style of character daily used. In the initial period of the research, the researcher examined three tangram books copied in the Qing dynasty—Qiqiao Bihe Tu, Qiufen Shi Qiqiao Bafen Tu, and Ting Yue Shan Fang Qi Qiao Shu Pu—and collected relevant historical data about it. The historical method was adopted to observe tangram’s formation and development in the history as well as the symbolic elements that particularly appear in Ting Yue Shan Fang Qi Qiao Shu Pu. Three sorts of historical development about tangram design can be made for further discussion. First, tangram graph was offered for individuals to imitate for entertainment. Second, it came to be known as tangram typeface. Third, tangram graph and sketch were fused together to become the sketch design of the book. However, no one has ever attempted to fuse together tangram typefaces and graphs as a form of typography creation. Yan’s innovation of tangram style are based on the five elements that follow: (1) classical prose, (2) bronze script, (3) cursive script, (4) running script, and (5) regular script. Then, the researcher examined the archetype of tangram style based on the five elements, and made the content analysis on the design of the 834 characters. Two conclusions can be made:(1)The simplified effect were made and achieved from the character design and structure of cursive script and running script; and(2)Yan uses a number of running script in order to achieve the effect of quasi books. The theoretical examination and basis mentioned above support the creation of tangram typography design. The two theoretical articulations above serve as a foundation in facilitating the development of tangram typography creation
