Abstract:

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengkaji produksi bahan kering (BK) dan potensi kapasitas dukung sapi potong terhadap kulit singkong sebagai pakan. Penelitian dilakukan selama satu bulan, di Dusun Batur Ngisor, Desa Ngargomulyo dan Dusun Tutup Ngisor, Desa Sumber, Kecamatan Dukun, Magelang. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode survey dengan cara Purposive Sampling dengan pengambilan sampel sebanyak 9 responden produsen pothil di wilayah Kecamatan Dukun. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa produksi bahan kering kulit singkong dari olahan pothil di Kecamatan Dukun sebesar 506.795,02 ton/tahun. Jika dihitung berdasarkan daya dukung kulit singkong dari olahan pothil tersebut, maka Kecamatan Dukun mampu menampung sekitar 6768 ST (satuan ternak) atau 6768 ekor sapi potong dewasa setiap tahunnya. Oleh karena itu, kulit singkong dari olahan pothil di Kecamatan Dukun mampu mencukupi kebutuhan pakan bagi sapi potong.Kata Kunci: kulit singkong, pothil, sapi potong, daya dukung.

Abstract:

<p>Pengobatan tradisional merupakan pengobatan yang memanfaatkan bahan tumbuhan rempah-rempah, air, garam dan jimat, yang telah menjadi pengobatan alternatif di dalam masyarakat Dusun Lubuk Tenam. Tujuan dalam penelitian ini adalah melihat bagaimana relasi pengetahuan, relasi kekuasaan, relasi sosial dan kultural dukun, pasien dan masyarakat Dusun Lubuk Tenam dalam pengobatan tradisonal. Penelitian ini mengunakan pendekatan kualitatif dan tipe penelitian etnografi Teknik pemilihan informan dilakukan dengan cara purposive sampling. Teknik pengumpulan data dengan wawancara mendalam, observasi dan studi dokumentasi. Analisis data menggunakan model interaktif yang dikemukan oleh Miles dan Huberman. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa dengan memiliki pengetahuan tentang pengobatan tradisional dukun memiliki kekuasaan dalam pengobatan di bandingkan dengan pengobatan medis. dan tidak adanya persaingan antara dukun dan bidan desa maupun antar sesama dukun. Kekuasaan yang didapatkan dukun dikarenakan oleh kepercayaan dan pengetahuan yang dimiliki oleh setiap dukun. Kekuasaan dan pengetahuan merupakan dua sisi yang saling berkaitan, dengan pengetahuan orang akan berkuasa, pengetahuan membentuk kekuasaan. Dukun memiliki pengetahuan tentang pengobatan dan masyarakat membutuhkan pengobtan dari dukun maka antara dukun dan pasien saling keterkaitan satu sama lain. Pengetahuan yang dimiliki dukun membuat ia berkuasa disegi pengobatan sehingga ia memiliki peran dan kedudukan dalam masyarakat. Namun kehidupan atau kegiatan dukun tidak hanyak melakukan pengobatan saja akan tetapi dukun ini juga memiliki kegiatan lain seperi ke lading, berkebun dan lainya. Kemajuan teknologi tidak mempengaruhi masyarakat Dusun Lubuk Tenam untuk berobat. Sehingga pengobatan tradisional masih tetap di lestarikan dan di budayakan.kan dari generasi ke generasi.</p>

Abstract:

This study departs from the rampant phenomenon of people believe and go shaman. Shamans believed to have the ability and expertise to provide suggestions in the process of healing and helping people. The problem in this study is how the experience, skills and expertise shaman in Lamongan in his work treating and helping the client? The purpose of this study was to understand and explore in depth the communication competence magical shaman related to his work in serving and treating clients in Lamongan East Java Province. This study used a phenomenological approach to qualitative research methods The subjects in this study were shamans and existing clients in the area of Lamongan East Java Province. Data sources or selected informants purposively with the terms directly experience the events that are the focus of research, able to recount events that happened, and be willing to research informants. Data collection techniques in this study using the technique of interviewing, observation, and document review. While the data analysis techniques used in this study are three flow activities: data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion / verification. The results of this study describes the capabilities and expertise of shaman is suwuk, petungan, penerawangan, and prewangan. Ability and skills possessed shaman on that gave birth a new communication concept is suwuk communication, petungan communication, penerawangan communication, and prewangan communication.

Abstract:

Finding a cure when people get sick is an important thing. One of the efforts done by Kediri people in finding for a cure is to come to a Dukun (Shaman/traditional healer) Suwuk and Dukun Prewangan. The purposes of this research are to know the profiles and methods of Dukun Suwuk and Dukun Prewangan, and their role in curing diseases. This research used descriptive qualitative method. The results of this research show that (1) the process of healing and problem solution performed by Dukun Suwuk uses prayer as a key source of power. And Dukun Prewangan uses the help of supernatural beings who become their working partners to cure or resolve the problem, (2) Dukun Suwuk and Dukun Prewangan has an important role in society because of their presence is needed and respected. In addition, Dukun Suwuk and Dukun Prewangan who have been offering the services had experienced a lot of things as a living experience, (3) healing process performed by Dukun Suwuk and Dukun Prewangan is one solution for patients to be free from the ambiguous conditions of liminal stage. Choosing to go to a traditional healer healing is a rational choice for each patient.

Abstract:

Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah Untuk mengetahui kemitraan bidan desa dan dukun bayi dalam meningkatkan derajat kesehatan ibu dan anak di Kabupaten Konawe Selatan. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian kualitatif. Penelitian dilakukan di Kabupaten Konawe Selatan, dengan mengambil sampel pada pada lokasi atau wilayah yang memiliki angka kematian ibu melahirkan dan angka kematian bayi/balita cukup tinggi di Kabupaten Konawe Selatan. Hasil penelitian Kemitraan bidan dengan dukun bayi adalah suatu bentuk kerjasama bidan dengan dukun bayi yang saling menguntungkan dengan prinsip keterbukaaan, kesetaraan, dan kepercayaan dalam upaya untuk menyelamatkan ibu dan bayi, dengan menempatkan bidan sebagai penolong persalinan dan mengalihfungsikan dukun dari penolong persalinan menjadi mitra dalam merawat ibu dan bayi pada masa nifas, dengan berdasarkan kesepakatan yang telah dibuat antara bidan dengan dukun, serta melibatkan seluruh unsur atau elemen masyarakat yang ada. Bidan desa dan Dukun bayi memiliki peran dan kepentingan yang berbeda tetapi diikat oleh satu tujuan yang sama yaitu keberadaan mereka dapat meningkatkan kesehatan ibu dan anak. Kesimpulan dalam penelitian ini bahwa Kemitraan antara bidan desa dan dukun bayi di Kabupaten Konawe Selatan terjalin dengan baik, melalui kemitraan bidan desa dan dukun bayi telah terjadi pengelolaan identitas yag diikuti dengan pembagian peran anatara bidan desa dan dukun bayi dalam proses sebelum persalinan dan setelah persalinan. Kemitraan yang terjadi juga tidak menghilangkan eksistensi dukun bayi di Kabupaten Konawe Selatan namun menjadikan dukun bayi sebagai mitra bidan desa dalam membantu meningkatkan derajat kesehatan ibu dan anak di Kab. Konawe Selatan.

Tujuan kajian ini adalah mengungkapkan (1) makna referensial puisi “Nini-Nini Dukun Bayi”; (2) ungramatikalitas, makna simbolik, dan pasangan oposisi puisi tersebut. Kajian ini menggunakan teori semiotikstruktural Riffaterre. Metode yang dipergunakan dalam penelitian adalah telaah kepustakaan. Sifat puisi mengungkapkan sesuatu dengan tidak langsung karena puisi mempunyai dua lapis makna (makna referensial dan makna semiotik). Dari analisis data ditemukan (1) makna referensial puisi “Nini-Nini Dukun Bayi” yang mengungkapkan terpinggirnya profesi dukun bayi oleh bidan; (2) ungramatikalitas, makna simbolik, dan pasangan oposisi puisi “NiniNini Dukun Bayi” dalam persoalan kemodernan dan ketradisionalan. Abstract: This research aims to reveal (1) referential meaning of a poem entitled “Nini-Nini Dukun Bayi”; (2) ungrammaticality, symbolic meaning, and opposition pairs of the poem. Semiotic structural theory of Riffaterre and library research method are conducted in this research. Poetry has an indirect expression with two layers meaning (referential and semiotic). Abstract:

Latar Belakang. Tetanus Neonatorum (TN) merupakan salah satu penyakit paling beresiko mengakibatkan kematian. Dinas Kesehatan Kabupaten Jember telah melaksanakan program skrining TT WUS pada awal tahun 2010 sebagai tindak lanjut dari adanya kasus dan kematian akibat TN yang tinggi (CFR >50%). Namun masih ditemukan 6 kasus dengan 3 kematian akibat TN. Hal ini disebabkan bumil bersalin pada dukun bayi, sehingga tidak mendapatkan pelayanan yang aman dan bersih.Tujuan. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis peran dukun bayi dalam proses persalinan ibu dengan kasus TN, yang menggambarkan refleksi kegagalan program kemitraan antara dukun dan bidan.Metode. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif, melaluiindept interview pada dukun bayi yang menolong persalinan bumil dengan kasus TN secara purposive sampling. Informan pendukung diambil dari bidan desa dan bumil yang mengalami kasus TN. Data dianalisis secara thematic content analysis.Hasil. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa seluruh dukun menggunakan alat dan metode tradisional yang tidak steril, mereka belum bermitra dengan bidan, belum mendapatkan pelatihan, serta tidak memiliki pengetahuan tentang TN. Kegagalan program kemitraan bidan dan dukun dibuktikan dengan masih banyak bumil yang bersalin ke dukun dan kasus kematian bayi akibat TN.

Abstract:

Latar belakang dan tujuan: Kemitraan dukun dan bidan merupakan salah satu strategi untuk meningkatkan cakupan pertolongan persalinan oleh tenaga kesehatan. Kemitraan ini belum berjalan dengan baik dimana masih ada dukun yang melakukan pertolongan persalinan secara mandiri. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui gambaran dan hambatan dalam pelaksanaan kemitraan dukun dengan bidan di Kabupaten Manggarai Timur.Metode: Penelitian kualitatif dengan wawancara mendalam menggunakan pedoman wawancara terbuka dilakukan pada 15 partisipan yang dipilih secara purposive, terdiri dari dua bidan desa, lima dukun yang bermitra dengan bidan, tiga dukun yang tidak bermitra dengan bidan, serta dua partisipan tokoh masyarakat, satu tokoh agama, dua ibu nifas dan satu pemegang kebijakan. Data dianalisis dengan pendekatan analisis tematik.Hasil: Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa sarana dan prasarana penunjang kemitraan belum memadai, dana yang disediakan belum cukup untuk membiayai pelaksanaan kemitraan sehingga tidak ada pertemuan rutin antara bidan dan dukun, serta koordinasi yang dilakukan hanya bersifat insidental. Meskipun pembagian peran dalam penanganan persalinan sudah jelas, banyak hambatan yang ditemukan yaitu hambatan transportasi, ekonomi dan masih ada dukun yang tidak mau bermitra.Simpulan: Kemitraan dukun dengan bidan dalam pertolongan persalinan terkendala oleh masih banyaknya hambatan, baik internal maupun eksternal, diperlukan dana yang cukup, menyediakan sarana transportasi dan penyuluhan kepada masyarakat untuk cakupan pertolongan persalinan oleh tenaga kesehatan.

Abstract:

The purpose of this study expresses trust and hegemony in a short story “Dukun yang Selamat” by Joni Hendri. Short Story “Dukun yang Selamat” interesting research because it contains differences in belief in the existence of shamans. The research approach used is Gramsci's hegemony, entering the realm of sociology of literature. This research belongs to the field of library research, not field research. This study used descriptive qualitative method. Research data obtained from words, phrases, sentences, and dialogues contained in short story “Dukun yang Selamat” which is relevant to belief and hegemony. The research data was analyzed by interpreting it according to the research approach used. The results showed differences in attitudes and behaviors towards figures Nenek Sari or a shaman is caused by the trust of each individual. The beliefs that have been adhered to and believed to be true are able to make a character Wak Atan acting that is not justified, which is to kill the shaman. The hegemony of belief is able to make Wak Atan marginalize the role of humans who are considered shamans.Keywords: Belief; hegemony; shaman; behavior; and role. IntisariTujuan penelitian ini mengungkapkan kepercayaan dan hegemoni dalam cerita pendek “Dukun yang Selamat” karya Joni Hendri. Cerpen “Dukun yang Selamat” menarik diteliti karena memuat perbedaan kepercayaan terhadap keberadaan dukun. Pendekatan penelitan yang dipakai adalah hegemoni Gramsci, masuk ranah sosiologi sastra. Penelitian ini masuk ranah penelitian kepustakaan, bukan penelitian lapangan. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode deskriptif kualitatif. Data penelitian didapatkan dari kata, frasa, kalimat, dan dialog yang terdapat dalam cerpen “Dukun yang Selamat” yang relevan dengan kepercayaan dan hegemoni. Data penelitian itu dianalisis dengan cara diinterpretasikan sesuai dengan pendekatan penelitian yang dipakai. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan perbedaan sikap dan perilaku terhadap tokoh Nenek Sari atau dukun disebabkan oleh kepercayaan tiap-tiap individu. Kepercayaan yang telah dianut dan diyakini kebenarannya mampu membuat tokoh Wak Atan bertindak yang tidak dibenarkan, yakni ingin membunuh dukun itu. Hegemoni kepercayaan mampu membuat Wak Atan memarjinalkan peran manusia yang dianggap sebagai dukun. Kata kunci: Kepercayaan; hegemoni; dukun; perilaku; dan peran.

Abstract:

Since the colonial era, there have been attempts to provide clinical childbirth services by establishing midwifery schools. Although these schools were closed, reorganized then re-opened several times, in an effort to graduate native midwives in the colony. The majority of the European doctors believed the existence of native midwives could reduce mortality rates for difficult deliveries. The colonial government also tried to replace dukun beranak (local midwives) with graduate midwives, as many doctors considered dukun beranak practices unsafe and unhygienic. Of note, even though midwifery school graduates provided childbirth services, most of the population preferred to use dukun beranak. This situation continued until independence. Dukun beranak remained the preferred provider of assistance among the working and lower class. The continued popularity of the dukun beranak can be seen as a colonial failure to replace them. After the proclamation of Indonesian independence, midwives who supported the Indonesian Republic, still provided childbearing assistance although with limited infrastructure and inadequate personnel during the independence war. Midwives also founded a midwifes association, rebuilt the national midwifery system, and discontinued colonial elements. This transformation can be interpreted as the decolonisation of midwifery. Midwives and dukun beranak were the available options for assisting in the labour of an Indonesian woman. The Indonesian government had a different approach to the colonial government toward society and dukun beranak and built cooperation between midwives and the dukun beranak. The cooperative work among midwives and dukun beranak changed awareness of Indonesian women’s reproductive health matters. This article traces efforts to provide safer childbirth services by looking at the problem through the lens of midwives and dukun beranak relations. The evolution of this relationship shows the decolonisation process inside midwifery and childbearing services.

Abstract:

Denna fallstudie har tagits fram med syfte om att undersöka, diskutera och analysera hur lärare förhåller sig till identitet i relation till historisk spelfilm. Detta syfte har framkommit mot bakgrund i att ge historieundervisningen mening och värde, samt att föra fram läraruppdragets myndighetsutövande och demokratiska fostrande. Studien placerar därmed lärarens sociala roll i anslutning till kulturens inflytande vad gäller elevers livsvärld och identitetsutveckling – att vara och bli, att se sig själv och andra. Studien har följaktligen genomförts med användning av sex stycken kvalitativa intervjuer med historielärare i årskurserna 7-9, vilka kommit att stå som underlag och representation över hur det kan se ut i ett svenskt klassrum år 2014. Därtill har läroplanen tillsammans med vetenskap, teori och forskning kommit att knytas an till intervjuerna för att på så vis underbygga resonemang och resultat. Resultatet av studien visar i sin tur att de intervjuade lärarna allt som oftast väljer att arbeta med historisk spelfilm som komplement i undervisningen. Historiska spelfilmer har då för avsikt att agera likt ett redskap i undervisningen för att visa upp historiska händelser och aktörer på ett sätt som väcker intresse och skapar förutsättningar för upplevelser och medkänsla hos eleverna. Det sker oftast återkopplingar i form av samtal, dialog och diskussioner mellan elever och lärare efter att spelfilmer visats. Spelfilmer problematiseras då efter historiska fakta och trovärdighet i mötet med fiktion men inte ur aspekter som direkt aktualiserar, lyfter eller behandlar vad som visats i relation till identitet – genus, kön och sexualitet. Min slutsats är, mot bakgrund i läroplanen, vetenskap, forskning och teori, att identitet(genus, kön och sexualitet), synen på sig själv och andra, bör närvara i undervisning som berör historia, kultur(historiekultur, populärkultur, medier, masskultur) och berättelser – därmed alltså även historisk spelfilm. Detta då det framkommer i studien att identitet(genus, kön och sexualitet) formas i både social och kulturell kontext och därför även kan påverkas av kulturella konstruktioner. Det förhållningssätt som lärarna uppvisar är i sin tur att behandla identitet i undervisningen, vilket sker mer eller mindre medvetet – dock görs det sällsynt i relation till historisk spelfilm. Istället väljer lärarna att oftast betrakta identitet(genus, kön och sexualitet) som begrepp vilka har för avsikt att ventileras under tematiska förhållanden.

Abstract:

Utgångspunkten i den här uppsatsen har varit att lyfta fram ungdomars reflektioner kring hur de uttrycker sig via film, i en diskussion där ett vuxenperspektiv generellt är framträdande i många andra studier om ungdomars mediepraktiker. Uppsatsen undersöker hur dagens högstadieelever använder film som en kommunikationsform, samt deras idéer kring hur detta skulle kunna användas som ett hjälpmedel inom skolan. Studien som ligger till grund för de teman som diskuteras utgörs av sex reflexiva intervjuer med högstadieelever från en skola i södra Sverige. Materialet från dessa samtal har genomgått en kvalitativ analys där gemensamma ämnen redovisas och analyseras. Att ungdomar idag har ett väldigt avslappnat och naturligt förhållningssätt till att uttrycka sig via film leder till intressanta och nytänkande användningsområden att redogöra för. Utöver mediets roll i elevernas vardag presenteras deras förslag på flertalet kreativa funktioner för det inom högstadiet. Resultatet av att välja ungdomarnas perspektiv på hur de använder film blir en utgångspunkt där mediet beskrivs som en tillgång och ett hjälpmedel. Ett uppfriskande och positivt synsätt som har fått inspirera uppsatsen angreppssätt av ämnet.

Abstract:

Syftet med uppsatsen har varit att undersöka 3D-formatet som attraktion inom filmmediet och dess förändring över tid samt dess möjliga framtid. Inom detta undersöktes också hur det nya 3D-formatet (som i uppsatsen kallas det digitala 3D-formatet) har påverkats av tekniska och ekonomiska omständigheter. 3D-formatet har under uppsatsen jämförts med ljudet och färgens utveckling mot standard för att se ifall 3D-formatet följer en liknande riktning och själv håller på att gå över till en standard. Grunden i uppsatsen har legat på teorin av Tom Gunnings cinema of attraction och utifrån den teorin har analysen fokuserat på hur filmer från olika tidsperioder har används sig av 3D-formatet. Analysen har också granskat filmernas genrertillhörighet och dess användning av slogans. Resultatet var i korthet att 3D-formatet fortfarande är en attraktion men att den inte längre följer Gunnings teori. Numera är 3D-formatet invävt i narrationen genom att kameran och skådespelarnas agerande följer med i 3D-formatets rörelse. Innovationen pausar därför inte längre berättelsen för att visa sin attraktion. 3D-formatet följer både ljudet och färgens utveckling till vis del. Färgen är den innovationsom 3D-formatet mest påminner om. Precis som färgen, som använde sig av färg för att skilja mellan verklighet och dröm, har 3D-formatet även tagit del av detta berättargrepp. Möjligheten finns att 3D-formatets spridning ut i andra medier, precis som färgens spridning till televisionen, kan hjälpa 3D-formatet i dess väg att bli en standard inom filmmediet. Dockär 3D-formatet fortfarande låst i sin visuella attraktion och används mer för att visuellt underhålla än för att visuellt berätta. Det är både tekniska och ekonomiska omständigheter som samarbetat för att få 3D-formatet att återkomma i ett digitalt format. Ingen av dem kunde enskilt få fram innovationen. Vikten ligger på de tekniska omständigheterna i och med digitaliseringen som sker hos biograferna, men digitaliseringen i sig styrs både av tekniska och ekonomiska val och 3D-formatet är främst en ekonomisk hjälp för biograferna att göra digitaliseringen. 3D-formatet är därmed mer en ekonomisk hjälp än en teknisk utbyggnad av filmmediet.

Abstract:

A literature review on the conversion studies reveals that most models of religious conversion postulate Christian-centric and western-centric perspectives. One of these models is the seven-stage Rambo Model. This study’s main objective is to critically engage the Rambo Model in exploring the conversion process of the Dusun Muslim converts in Brunei Darussalam and to answer the first research question that seeks to find out the actual definitions of the conversion stages as how they had been typically experienced by the converts. The model’s framework is further tested by the second research question which aims to identify the determinant that explains the variations and similarities found in the stage sequence of the conversion process of the Dusun Muslim converts in comparison to those occurring in different religious settings. Drawing on the qualitative data obtained through interviews and the utilisation of relevant literature, the case study of the Dusun Muslim converts confirms the cultural specificity issue inherent in the Rambo Model. Some theoretical changes were suggested where a new concept of contextual components and of culture-free definitions of the stages were added to the model’s framework. This modified version of the Rambo Model was found to be effective in demonstrating that the actual definitions of the conversion stages of the Dusun Muslim converts are unique and distinctly specific, principally due to the effects of Brunei’s majority-religion context. The theoretical changes of the model were also useful in explaining the variations and similarities in the stage order of conversion process occurring in different religious settings. Thus, by presenting a non-Christian and non-western case study of religious conversion, this study concludes that a more generic version of the Rambo Model can actually be formulated and be utilised by future research undertakings.

Abstract:

This study highlights the stereotypical depictions of journalists in film using a narrative analysis of four major Hollywood productions, starting with All the President’s Men from 1976 through The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo from 2011. Its purpose is to highlight traits given to journalists in the movies and re-occuring themes in the portrayal of the media and the journalistic occupation. Differences and commonalities between the films are concluded in a discussion of ethics, personalities and the media’s self image. The paper can be seen as a contribution to the paradigm in which journalism in the movies is perceived at the moment. It offers a wide explanation to how the image of the journalist is conveyed to the public, an image that differs from how real life journalists go about in daily work life. This is essential, since most people never get to experience journalistic work in reality – but solely from popular culture – which distorts the perception of the media as the fourth estate.

Abstract:

Films can be a source to enjoyment, cultural enrichment and relaxation. But films are alsofilled with messages and subtext that affects the one who watches the film. One of the effectsis the reproduction of racism and stereotypes. Therefore, have we chosen to analyze threemodern films that illuminate the civil rights movement. The purpose of this study is toinvestigate whether the selected reality-based films offer alternative perspectives onrelationships, racism and civil rights. This study will be based on the films The butler (2013),Niceville (2011) and Remember the Titans (2000). Based on the three selected films, a selection of scenes and sequences will also be performed.Ranking of scenes and sequences will be grounded on a variety of events so that this studycan show the breadth of the issues that are highlighted in the films. We will then combinesome of the scenes and sequences in the results and analysis to present under the sameheading. In the final part will we conclude with a summary discussion of our work.

Abstract:

I jakt efter fler svar på frågan varför film påverkar oss, utforskas i detta arbete ett relativt orört område: konceptuella metaforer. Området förklarar en aspekt av vår perception som inte är begränsad till film utan avser sinnesintryck i allmänhet. Enligt teorin använder människor gärna metaforer för att förstå sin omgivning, och vissa faktorer utgör kraftigare metaforer än andra. Denna teori appliceras på science-fiction-skräckfilmen Alien (1979) i en filmanalys. Analysen är utförd efter en metod av Kathrin Fahlenbrach, författare till modellen Audiovisuella metaforer. Målet är att identifiera sådana metaforer och förklara hur en tittare påverkas av dem. Analysen visar att film kan projicera många känslor via audiovisuella metaforer, men vilken betydelse har de och vad krävs för att de ska kommuniceras? Genom språkliga och filmiska exempel är syftet med detta arbete att summera en invecklad teori och förklara hur den kan användas kreativt.

Abstract:

The purpose of this thesis is to examine the field of research regarding Hollywood feature films, the construction of stereotypes of Muslims and Arabs and what impact the negative stereotypes might have on Muslims’ concept of the self. The purpose is also to discuss what consequences this can have for the multi-cultural classroom. In order to fulfill the purpose, three questions where created. The first one was to examine research regarding the Hollywood feature films portrayal of Muslim stereotypes. The second question was to examine research regarding the feature movies impact on the conception of the self. The third question was to examine the research regarding feature films negative portrayal of Islam and Muslims own comprehension of the portrayal. The analysis has been conducted as a systematic literature study of material relating to feature films portrayals of Muslims and Arabs, Muslims’ own opinions of the portrayal and material relating to feature films effect on identity. The reached conclusion is that Hollywood’s feature films portrayal of Islam, Muslim and Arabs are utterly negative and limited. The examined research also shows that feature films have a huge impact on the viewers’ everyday life and concept of the self. Some research shows that feature films is a source to viewers’ existential questions and can also work as building blocks to their own identity. The research regarding Muslims’ own conception of feature films portrayal of Islam where limited. The examined researched show that Muslims’ have been victims of discrimination, hatred and violence from the society. However, how it might inflict the perception of Muslims identity have not been clarified.
