ABSTRACT A time series of aerial images of a dune field on a migrating free bar in the North Loup River, Nebraska, is used to generate a quantified dataset that allows analyses of crestline deformation, dune interaction type and spatial density, and impact of spurs. Abstract Function-as-a-Service (FaaS) receives close attention due to highly desirable characteristics, including pay-as-you-go pricing, high elasticity, and its fully managed nature. To leverage these benefits for existing applications, developers face the challenge of migrating legacy code to a FaaS platform (FaaSification). Unfortunately, however, actionable guidance on how to do so for real-world applications does not exist. In this paper, we report on our experience from FaaSifying a data-intensive application, and evaluating different options through extensive experimentation, using approaches such as regression tests and tracing. Based on the obtained results, we present five migration tactics in support of future FaaSification.

Abstract This chapter advances two main arguments: first, that tourism and migration are strongly inter-related, and that this is due to both their shared structural determinants (for example, transport infrastructures) in the form of scapes, and to the enfolded nature of mobility. That is, individual mobilities are enfolded over time, with earlier migration experiences influencing later patterns of tourism and vice versa. Second, it is argued that there are two main economic development outcomes of the migration-tourism nexus. The first is seen in the roles of individuals as consumers, that is, as tourists. Tourism expenditures convert into income and jobs so that migration flows have long-term implications for future tourism expenditure patterns. And secondly, migration plays an important role in the territorial redistribution of resources; migrants are bearers of knowledge, skills, competences and capital.
