Abstract:
In this research, the ability of anaerobic and aerobic biological sludges to reduce and stabilize azo dye compounds was studied. Synthetic dye solutions and an industrial textile wastewater were both treated using anaerobic and aerobic biomass, separately and in sequential step-treatment processes. The primary objective was to reduce the wastewater color to an intensity that complies with the Virginia Pollutant Discharge Elimination System (VPDES) permit level. This level is set at 300 American Dye Manufactures Institute (ADMI) units. Further objectives were to achieve reductions in the to

Its high stability under sunlight and resistance to microbial attack also makes dye wastewater treatment problematic. Conventional wastewater treatments are proven inefficient in treating the dye wastewater to meet the standard set by the environmental protection bureau in Taiwan. Advanced oxidation processes (AOPs) including O3/UV, H2O2/UV, TiO2/UV and conventional Fenton’s process, w

However, Fenton process has following disadvantages including high dosage required and large amount of sludge generated. Therefore, the objective of this study is to study ultrasound-activation of persulfate to produce a very powerful oxidant, sulfate free radical, for dye wastewater treatment. Sodium persulfate is a stable and harmless material for environment. The results showed ultrasound can a

However, Fenton has the problem of generating large quantity of waste sludge. Taking the advantage of higher temperature in dyeing wastewater, in this study sodium persulfate (Na2S2O8) was thermally activated with or without UV radiation to produce sulfate radical for decolorization of dyeing wastewater. The aim of this work is to investigate the effects of temperature and Na2S2O8 dosges on decolorization of dye by thermally act
