This article is concerned with the debate around the economic knowledge evolution and the role of ethics in economy. It reports on the 2008 crisis, the research literature reveals two main problems: the efficiency of the economic modeling and the failure of the ethical system. The authors explore the use of the new Dynamic Stochastic General Equilibrium “DSGE” model in the case of Islamic economy, it can enable to develop a new approach, taking into account the criticism of the models used before the crisis, and giving more importance to the ethical principles. The question is to know if the pri

Central Bank is one of the most important institutions of a country because its responsibility is to draw and implement the monetary policy. The central bank, in order to accomplish this responsibility, has to have a clearly defined main objective, the instruments that will use to achieve the objective, and it should be able to make precise or very good forecasts of macroeconomic variables. In order to make these forecasts, the central bank should first of all understand every monetary transmission mechanism and determine the most effective one. This study introduces some new perspectives of bureaucratic corruption into the dynamic general equilibrium theory recently proposed by Zhang. The main concern of our study is the role of corruption on economic growth and income and wealth distribution between the officials and workers. The economy is composed of the industrial sector and public sector. The population is classified into officials and workers. Corruption takes places through many channels. Officials take brides from producers and households. The model describes dynamic interactions of growth, corruption with fixed tax rate and

Abstract:
In this thesis we introduce a new bootstrap method for testing structural DSGE models according to their dynamic performance. The method maintains a separation between the structural (non-linear) model as the null hypothesis and its dynamic time series representation. The model's errors are discovered and used for bootstrapping (after whitening) the resulting pseudo-samples are used to discover the sampling distribution of the dynamic time series model. The test then consists of discovering whether the parameters of the time-series model estimated on the actual data lie within some confidence

This thesis aims at contributing to the existing studies in the dynamic stochastic general equilibrium model, particularly in the new Keynesian models, on three aspects. It consists of three chapters. Chapter 2 is on “Dynamic new Keynesian Life-Cycle Model.” Chapter 3 is on “Re-thinking Price Stability in an Economy with Endogenous Firm Entry: Real Imperfections under Product Variety.” Chapter 4 is on “Growth Expectation.” Abstracts of each Chapter are as follows. This D.Phil. dissertation investigates the areas in financial stability. The three comprising essays have a common ground: money, default and collateral in the theory of finance. Chapter Two (co-authored with Prof. Dimitrios Tsomocos), which is titled “A Dynamic General Equilibrium Model to Analyse Financial Stability”, aims to refine and improve existing DSGE models in two ways. First, it incorporates hitherto neglected components such as endogenous default, money via cash-in-advance constraints and heterogeneous banking sectors. Macroeconomics research has made a quantum leap in the past decade in establishing a new workhorse model for open economy analysis. The unique characteristic of this literature is the introduction of the financial system in a dynamic general equilibrium (DGE) model which is based on microfoundations. Its introduction in a DGE model is essential to explain empirical facts such as growth differences across countries. The aim of this thesis is to show whether the behavior of growth can be explained by financial development within a classical approach. The model's ability to explain growth by sett

The thesis applies a variety of DSGE models to a set of problems whose common link is the analysis of economic fluctuations. The DSGE methodology is applied first to the analysis of economic fluctuations in Italy. After documenting' the crucial features of economic fluctuations in Italy (high volatility of hours worked and low volatility of employment), the thesis explains why the standard RBC model cannot reproduce them. Therefore, a modified RBC model with labour adjustment costs and an underground sector is introduced, and its performance analysed. Then, the thesis utilizes DSGE theory to s

Nowadays most studies of drying processes dynamics are established on empirical models without clear physical meanings, which could not predict the drying characteristic on different dryers. In order to describe the change of temperature and water content in the cut tobacco in different dryers, a mathematical model based on heat and mass transfer phenomena was developed, and the model employed the relationship of equilibrium moisture content and air humidity as basis, the difference of moisture between biomass and wet air as mass transfer driver, and the difference of temperature between bioma
