Abstract:
Hydrodistillation of the fresh leaves of E.grandis×E.urophylla hybrids and pure species E.grandis, E.urophylla, E.pellita, E.camaldulensis, E. dunni, and E.saligna collected from the trees grown in Guangxi Huangmian Forest (China), afforded essential oils in yields varying from 0.24±0.15% to 5.36±0.28%, according to the species. Analysis by GC (FID) and GC/MS allowed the identification of 67 compounds, representing 82.55% to 91.03% of the total oil composition. The dominant compounds were 1,8-cineole in E.saligna, E.urophylla, E.grandis×E.urophylla, E.grandis, E.pellita and E. dunni (67.48, 57

Toxicity of some important indigenous plant powder (Nigella sativa Linn.,Murrayapaniculata Linn., Jatrophacurcas Linn., Eucalyptus camaldulensisDehn., DaturametelLinn., and Vitexnegundo Linn.) were used against different life stages of lesser grainborer, Rhizoperthadominica (Fabricius). Among them seed powder of N. sativa provedto be the most effective as toxicant. The results revealed to reduce the egg mortality, larval mortality and adult mortality of R. dominica significantly (P<0.001). The toxicityof botanicals were in the order of N. sativa> M. paniculata> J. curcas> E.camaldul

Abstract:
Specific leaf area (SLA) is an important leaf attribute representing a compromise between the capture of light and CO2 and the limitations imposed by leaf structure, herbivore resistance and the mitigation of water loss. We examined three Eucalyptus L'Her. species to determine whether variation in CO2 assimilation rate was related to SLA and leaf anatomy. Seedlings were grown in a naturally illuminated glasshouse with adequate water and nutrients. Light-saturated rates of photosynthesis were measured on the youngest fully expanded leaves. Mesophyll characteristics were measured from sections t

Several molds are able to colonize wood and many building products or solid wood causing losses for their valuable uses. Essential oils (EOs) from aromatic plants can be used as an ecofriendly biofungicide against the growth of several molds. EOs from Eucalyptus camaldulensis, Citrus aurantium, and C. sinensis have a broad-spectrum antimicrobial activity. EOs from of E. camaldulensis air-dried aerial parts, C. aurantium leaf and C. sinensis peel, and their combinations (1:1 v/v) were evaluated for their antifungal activity against the growth of four common mold fungi (Aspergillus flavus, A. ni
