Abstract:
This paper presents a web application to support the teaching-learning process of undergraduate database courses, which allows students to practice their knowledge on data modeling using Entity-Relationship (E-R) diagrams. The web application is oriented to teachers and students: teachers prepare examples and exercises, which can have associated E-R diagrams; on the other hand, students are able to design E-R diagrams, which they can review at any time, they also have the option of viewing and solve some of the exercises designed by the teacher. The development of the web application is explained; a comparison of similar existing E-R diagram systems is presented; and the operation of the web application is shown through the creation of an E-R diagram. The results of an instrument applied to students for the evaluation of the web application are provided.

Abstract:
Business case mining and business rule discovery are at the center for entity relationship (E-R) modeling and database design to obtain E-R models. How to transform business cases through business rules into E-R models is a fundamental issue for database design. This article addresses this issue by exploring business case mining and E-R modeling optimization. Business case mining is business rule discovery from a business case. This article reviews case-based reasoning, explores business case-based reasoning, and presents a unified approach to business case mining for business rule discovery. The approach includes people-centered entity/business rule discovery and function-centered entity/business rule discovery. E-R modeling optimization aims to improve the E-R modeling process to get a better E-R diagram that reflects the business case properly. This article proposes a unified optimal method for E-R modeling. The unified optimal method includes people-centered E-R modeling, function-centered E-R modeling, and hierarchical E-R modeling. The approach proposed in this research will facilitate the research and development of E-R modeling, database design, data science, and big data analytics.

ABSTRACT Cloud Computing is a combination of the use of computer technology and cloud of Internet-based development. Clouds are metaphors of the Internet, as are clouds that are often depicted in computer network diagrams. In addition to clouds in computer network diagrams, clouds in computing technology are also an abstraction of the complex infrastructure it conceals. Private Cloud Storage with Service Oriented Architecture component collaboration is able to provide an efficient interface for the running process of the institution and serves as Virtualization Server and Online Storage that can be accessed using Fixed Devices and Mobile Devices such as Android Smartphone, Pad Computer and Tablet PC via local network connection and Internet. As function of the benefits of the cloud itself can be utilized into the needs of E-Learning, given the ease, needs, and security, cloud computing spelled out the right method in applying these needs. Abstract:
ABSTRACT We use photometric and spectroscopic observations of the eclipsing binary E32 in the globular cluster 47 Tuc to derive the masses, radii, and luminosities of the component stars. The system has an orbital period of 40.9 d, a markedly eccentric orbit with e = 0.24, and is shown to be a member of or a recent escaper from the cluster. We obtain $M_{\rm p} = 0.862\pm 0.005 \, \mathrm{M}_\odot$, $R_{\rm p} = 1.183\pm 0.003 \, \mathrm{R}_\odot$, $L_{\rm p} = 1.65\pm 0.05 \, \mathrm{L}_\odot$ for the primary and $M_{\rm s} = 0.827\pm 0.005 \, \mathrm{M}_\odot$, $R_{\rm s} = 1.004\pm 0.004 \, \mathrm{R}_\odot$, $L_{\rm s} = 1.14\pm 0.04\, \mathrm{L}_\odot$ for the secondary. Based on these data and on an earlier analysis of the binary V69 in 47 Tuc, we measure the distance to the cluster from the distance moduli of the component stars, and, independently, from a colour – surface brightness calibration. We obtain 4.55 ± 0.03 and 4.50 ± 0.07 kpc, respectively – values compatible within 1$\, \sigma$ with recent estimates based on Gaia DR2 parallaxes. By comparing the M–R diagram of the two binaries and the colour–magnitude diagram of 47 Tuc to Dartmouth model isochrones we estimate the age of the cluster to be 12.0 ± 0.5 Gyr, and the helium abundance of the cluster to be Y ≈ 0.25.

Abstract:
In this paper, the mechanical properties of the material that define its mechanical behavior are experimentally investigated. All performed experimental tests and analyzes are related to C15E + C steel. The tested material was delivered as cold drawn round bar. It is usually used in mechanical engineering for design of low stressed components. Experimentally obtained results relate to the maximum tensile strength, yield strength, creep behavior, and uniaxial fully reversed high cyclic fatigue. Results representing mechanical properties are shown in the form of engineering stress–strain diagrams, while creep behavior of the material at different temperatures and different stress levels is displayed in the form of creep curves. Tests representing uniaxial cyclic fully reversed mechanical fatigue at constant stresses and room temperature in air are shown in the form of fatigue-life (S−N) diagram. Some of the experimental results obtained are as follows: ultimate tensile strength (σm(20 °C/500 °C)=(598/230) MPa), yield strength (σ0.2(20 °C/500 °C)=(580/ 214 ) MPa ), modulus of elasticity (E(20 °C/500 °C)=(213/106) GPa), and fatigue limit (σf(20 °C, R=−1)=250.83 MPa). The fatigue tests were performed at frequency of 40 Hz and at room temperature (20 °C) in air, with stress ratio of R=−1.

Symbiotic stars have sometimes been misidentified as planetary nebulae, because their line spectra are similar to those of planetary nebulae particularly in the ultraviolet L.(Houziaux 1982 in “The Nature of Symbiotic Stars”, M. Friedjung & R. Viotti eds., Reidel. p 229), while the infrared shows the presence of the spectrum of a cool star. The similarity is not complete; when H. E. Schwarz (1988 in “The Symbiotic Phenomenon”, J. Mikolajewska et al eds., Kluwer, p 123) plotted a graph of two ratios derived from emission line fluxes, symbiotic stars did not occupy the regions of the diagram occupied by planetary nebulae and H II regions.

AbstractWe review general properties and capabilities of the instrumentation employed to diagnose cosmic magnetic fields using medium-size and large optical telescopes. During the last decade these spectropolarimeters and high-resolution spectrographs have been successfully used to detect and characterize magnetic fields in stars across the H-R diagram. A new generation of high-resolution spectropolarimeters will benefit from the large collecting area of the future E-ELT and currently operating 8-m class telescopes. We review plans to develop spectropolarimeters for these very large telescopes and outline a number of science cases where new spectropolarimetric instrumentation is expected to play a key role.

Abstract:
This paper presents a brief review on the ternary phase equilibria in the ternary AV–BVI–I systems (AV = Sb, Bi; BVI = S, Se, Te). These systems includes the series of ternary compounds those are very attractive source materials for photo-, thermos- and ferroelectric energy transformation along the recently discovered semiconductors that exhibit Rashba-type spin splitting in their surface states. In the Rashba semiconductors, a unique toroidal 3D Fermi surface appears on the crystal surface, which leads to unusual properties that make it possible to realize unique electronic devices based on these compounds. The thorough knowledge on the ternary phase diagram of these systems shed light on the chemical and structural design of new multifunctional materials with tunable properties. This knowledge is very important whenfocusing on the chemistry of such multifunctional materials based on complex element systems. REFERENCES Audzijonis A., Sereika R., Ћaltauskas R. Abstract:
This paper includes a comprehensive case that details a simplified business system for the Drifters Snowboard Company. We include a description of the business processes of Drifters relative to the data needs which includes an entity-relationship (ER) dia-gram and a unified modeling language (UML) diagram. Both diagrams are con-structed to compare and contrast each method and to give those that perform modeling tasks a sense of some of the real world issues that are involved. In the past ten years, object-orientation has become viable and important in both the modeling and implementation arenas. Programming languages such as C++ and Java incorporate object-oriented (O-O) features and database management systems (DBMS) such as O2, ObjectStore, Poet, etc. and are advertised as "pure" O-O DBMS. Conversely, some systems such as Oracle, DB2, Sybase, SQL Serve,r etc. have incorporated some O-O features into essentially relational database technology in order to remain competitive. On the modeling dimension, the entity-relationship (E/R) diagramming method with its notable variants has been dominant for more than 20 years. This is probably due to its simplicity and its power to accurately represent the data needs of nearly all applica-tions. In the last 10 years however, O-O modeling has become increasingly popular because it correlates nicely to O-O implementations and because its modeling power is requisite for the greater complexity inherit in contemporary information systems. Re-cently, UML has become the de facto O-O modeling variant, so hence, we illustrate UML in the same case we use ER diagramming. The comparison and contrast is useful to those who are migrating to UML data modeling.

Abstract:
Abstract:
Abstract Purpose: We aimed to find critical biomakers associated with BRCA1-mutation positive breast cancer. Methods: The data set E-MTAB-982 was downloaded from ArrayExpress database and the data were preprocessed using R package Oligo. Differential expression analysis between BRCA1-mutation positive breast cancer patients and BRCA1-mutation positive healthy subjects were performed using limma package. Then, gene set enrichment analysis was conducted. We constructed the network for BRCA1, its related differentially expressed genes (DEGs), and the enriched Kyoto Encyclopedia of Genes and Genomes (KEGG) pathways. After that, survival analysis was performed based on the clinical data of breast cancer in TCGA database. Finally, box diagram for key genes was drawn. Results: The network showed that LSM3, NDUFB3, GNPDA2, and PTGS2 were BRCA1 related DEGs. Furthermore, LSM3 was mainly enriched in RNA degradation pathway and spliceosome pathway. PTGS2 was enriched in arachidonic acid metabolism and VEGF signaling pathway. Survival analysis indicated that high expression of LSM3 indicated a poor prognosis of BRCA1-mutant breast cancer. Besides, box diagram showed that LSM3 was down-regulated in BRCA1-mutation positive breast cancer patients compared with that in BRCA1-mutation positive healthy subjects. Conclusions: LSM3, NDUFB3, and PTGS2 may be biomarkers in BRCA1-mutant breast cancer, and high expression of LSM3 may indicate a poor prognosis of BRCA1-mutant breast cancer.

Abstract:
AbstractA CCD UBVRI survey of northern open clusters is being undertaken at San Pedro Mártir, México, and performed using always the same instrumental setup (telescope, CCD, filters), reduction methods, and system of standards of Landolt (1992). To date more than 300 clusters (mostly unstudied previously) have been observed, and about half the data reduced using aperture-photometry and PSF techniques. Our analysis procedures are being refined by studying in detail a small subset of these clusters. For example, the heavily reddened clusters Be80 and Be95 are being examined in the color-color diagrams: (B-V, U-B) and (B-V, R-I) to better understand the problems of curvature and variable reddening. For clusters for which our U data reaches the F-type stars, such as NGC2192 and NGC7296, techniques are being examined for estimating both the reddening E(B-V) and metallicity [Fe/H] via the use of the (U-B) excess. If the clusters also have “red clump” stars, such as NGC1798 and Do02, these procedures can be iterated between the clump and main sequence stars to establish even better the values of E(B-V) and [Fe/H]. Finally, color-magnitude diagrams, such as (B-V, V) and (V-I, V), are being employed together with the SchmidtKaler (1982) colors and Padova isochrones of Girardi et al. (2000) to obtain distances and ages for these clusters. A java-based computer program is being developed to help in the visualization and analysis of these photometric data. This system is capable of displaying each cluster simultaneously in different color-color and color-magnitude diagrams and has an interactive way to identify a star, or group of stars, in one diagram and to see were it falls in the other diagrams, facilitating the elimination of field stars and the apperception of cluster features. This program is capable of displaying up to 16 different diagrams for one cluster and processing up to 20 clusters at the same time. Our aims are the following: (1) a common UBVRI photometric scale for open clusters, (2) an atlas of color-color and color-magnitude diagrams for open clusters, (3) a homogeneous set of cluster reddenings, distances, and ages, (4) an increased number of old and distant open clusters, and (5) a selection of interesting clusters for further study.

Palavras-chave: cobertura do solo, águas superficiais e subterrâneas, geoprocessamento. SILVA, E. B. DA; ARAÚJO NETO, J. R. DE; PALÁCIO, H. A. DE Q.; ANDRADE, E. M. DE E ARAÚJO, Y. R. LAND USE AND INFLUENCE ON THE WATER QUALITY INDEX: THE CASE OF TRUSSU RIVER VALLEY 2 ABSTRACT In order to evaluate the influence of land use and occupation on surface and groundwater levels in Trussu river perennial valley, Ceará, Brazil, we aimed at investigating data of the water quality in two distinct years. The first one was from Sep / 2002 to Feb / 2004 and the second from Apr/2013 to Jul/2015. Twenty-two water samples were collected in 9 sampling stations, 5 from surface and 4 from underground. The same stations were considered in the two periods, monitoring 6 attributes of water quality, totaling 2376 analyzes. The water quality assessment was performed using the water quality index (IQA, in Portuguese) and cash flow diagram. The changes in land use and occupation were sharp, with the dense tropical dry forests (Caatinga) moving from 38.7% occupancy of the study area in 2003 to 11.2% in 2013. There was no significant difference (P <0.05) in surface and groundwater quality over time. However, groundwater differed statistically in the two points. The IQA of surface waters was classified as good, and of groundwater as regular and bad. These results show the growth of agricultural practices in the region, with significant advance of the anthropized area on natural resources. Keywords: groundcovers, surface water and groundwater, geoprocessing.

Abstract:
AbstractRisk-aware Business Process Management (R-BPM) has been addressed in research since more than a decade. However, the integration of the two independent research streams is still ongoing with a lack of research focusing on the conceptual modeling perspective. Such an integration results in an increased meta-model complexity and a higher entry barrier for modelers in creating conceptual models and for addressees of the models in comprehending them. Multi-view modeling can reduce this complexity by providing multiple interdependent viewpoints that, all together, represent a complex system. Each viewpoint only covers those concepts that are necessary to separate the different concerns of stakeholders. However, adopting multi-view modeling discloses a number of challenges particularly related to managing consistency which is threatened by semantic and syntactic overlaps between the viewpoints. Moreover, usability and efficiency of multi-view modeling have never been systematically evaluated. This paper reports on the conceptualization, implementation, and empirical evaluation of e-BPRIM, a multi-view modeling extension of the Business Process-Risk Management-Integrated Method (BPRIM). The findings of our research contribute to theory by showing, that multi-view modeling outperforms diagram-oriented modeling by means of usability and efficiency of modeling, and quality of models. Moreover, the developed modeling tool is openly available, allowing its adoption and use in R-BPM practice. Eventually, the detailed presentation of the conceptualization serves as a blueprint for other researchers aiming to harness multi-view modeling.

Abstract:
Abstract. Over the last 40 years, many contributions have identified empirical rainfall thresholds (e.g. rainfall intensity (I) vs. rainfall duration (D), cumulated rainfall vs. rainfall duration (ED), cumulated rainfall vs. rainfall intensity (EI)) for the possible initiation of shallow landslides, based on local and global inventories. Although different methods to trace the threshold curves have been proposed and discussed in literature, a systematic study to develop an automated procedure to select the rainfall event responsible for the landslide occurrence has only rarely been addressed. Objective criteria for estimating the rainfall responsible for the landslide occurrence play a prominent role on the threshold values. In this paper, two criteria for the identification of the effective rainfall events are presented. The first criterion is based on the analysis of the time series of rainfall mean intensity values over 1 month preceding the landslide occurrence. The second criterion is based on the analysis of the trend in the time function of the cumulated mean intensity series calculated from the rainfall records measured through rain gauges. The two criteria have been implemented in an automated procedure that is written in the R language. A sample of 100 shallow landslides collected in Italy from 2002 to 2012 was used to calibrate the procedure. The cumulated event rainfall (E) and duration (D) of rainfall events that triggered the documented landslides are calculated through the new procedure and are fitted with power law in the D, E diagram. The results are discussed by comparing the D, E pairs calculated by the automated procedure and the ones by the expert method.

Abstract:
Abstract:
A B S T R A C T In this study the relationship between wavelike easterly disturbance, squall line formation, and precipitation on Paraíba state is analyzed. The disturbance influenced the state from 15 to 17 July 2011. Its propagation and arrival on Northeast Brazil were detected on a time-longitude diagram of the meridional wind component at the 600 hPa level. The disturbance was characterized by the development of linearly organized deep convection, a squall line structure, on the night of the 15th and 16th. Thermodynamic profiles highlighted high moisture content in the lower troposphere, underneath a subsidence inversion typical of the trade winds area, prior to the formation of the first deep convective cells. The deep convection development and organization on the night of the 15th led to the moistening of the entire troposphere, a condition that remained up to the 17th. Winds of moderate intensity on the southeast quadrant of the wind rose, in the low and middle troposphere, preceded the squall line formation on the night of the 15th. Weak winds with variable direction were observed on the 16th and 17th. Large rainfall amounts fell on eastern Paraíba. On the two largest cities of the state rainfall volumes were very high: 83 mm in João Pessoa on the 16th, and 110 mm in Campina Grande on the 17th. Key words: rainfall, extreme event, thermodynamic structure, Northeast Brazil.

Abstract:
The paper presents the results of a study of solid-phase equilibria in the Tb–Te system and the thermodynamic properties of terbium tellurides obtained by the methods of electromotive forces and X-ray diffraction analysis. Based on the experimental data, it was established that the TbTe, Tb2Te3, TbTe2 и TbTe3 compounds are formed in the system. For the investigations of the alloys from the two-phase regions TbTe3+Te, TbTe2+TbTe3, and Tb2Te3+TbTe2, the EMF of concentration cells relative to the TbTe electrode was measured. The EMF of concentration cells relative to the terbium electrode was measured for the TbTe+Tb2T3 region. The partial thermodynamic functions of TbTe and Tb in alloys were determined bycombining the EMF measurements of both types in the 300–450 K temperature range, based on which the standard thermodynamic functions of formation and standard entropies of the indicated terbium tellurides were calculated. Abstract:
Abstract. Over the last 40 years, many contributions have been devoted to identifying the empirical rainfall thresholds (e.g. intensity vs. duration ID, cumulated rainfall vs. duration ED, cumulated rainfall vs. intensity EI) for the initiation of shallow landslides, based on local as well as worldwide inventories. Although different methods to trace the threshold curves have been proposed and discussed in literature, a systematic study to develop an automated procedure to select the rainfall event responsible for the landslide occurrence has rarely been addressed. Nonetheless, objective criteria for estimating the rainfall responsible for the landslide occurrence (effective rainfall) play a prominent role on the threshold values. In this paper, two criteria for the identification of the effective rainfall events are presented: (1) the first is based on the analysis of the time series of rainfall mean intensity values over one month preceding the landslide occurrence, and (2) the second on the analysis of the trend in the time function of the cumulated mean intensity series calculated from the rainfall records measured through rain gauges. The two criteria have been implemented in an automated procedure written in R language. A sample of 100 shallow landslides collected in Italy by the CNR-IRPI research group from 2002 to 2012 has been used to calibrate the proposed procedure. The cumulated rainfall E and duration D of rainfall events that triggered the documented landslides are calculated through the new procedure and are fitted with power law in the (D,E) diagram. The results are discussed by comparing the (D,E) pairs calculated by the automated procedure and the ones by the expert method.

Abstract:
Using a combinatorial argument, we prove the well-known result that the Wirtinger and Dehn presentations of a link in 3-space describe isomorphic groups. The result is not true for links [Formula: see text] in a thickened surface [Formula: see text]. Their precise relationship, as given in [R. E. Byrd, On the geometry of virtual knots, M.S. Thesis, Boise State University (2012)], is established here by an elementary argument. When a diagram in [Formula: see text] for [Formula: see text] can be checkerboard shaded, the Dehn presentation leads naturally to an abelian “Dehn coloring group,” an isotopy invariant of [Formula: see text]. Introducing homological information from [Formula: see text] produces a stronger invariant, [Formula: see text], a module over the group ring of [Formula: see text]. The authors previously defined the Laplacian modules [Formula: see text] and polynomials [Formula: see text] associated to a Tait graph [Formula: see text] and its dual [Formula: see text], and showed that the pairs [Formula: see text], [Formula: see text] are isotopy invariants of [Formula: see text]. The relationship between [Formula: see text] and the Laplacian modules is described and used to prove that [Formula: see text] and [Formula: see text] are equal when [Formula: see text] is a torus.

Abstract:
Context. Solar Rossby waves (r modes) have recently been discovered in the near-surface horizontal flow field using the techniques of granulation-tracking and ring-diagram analysis applied to six years of SDO/HMI data. Aims. Here we apply time-distance helioseismology to the combined SOHO/MDI and SDO/HMI data sets, which cover 21 years of observations from May 1996 to April 2017. The goal of this study is to provide an independent confirmation over two solar cycles and in deeper layers of the Sun. Methods. We have measured south-north helioseismic travel times along the equator, which are sensitive to subsurface north-south flows. To reduce noise, the travel times were averaged over travel distances from 6° to 30°; the mean distance corresponds to a p-mode lower turning point of 0.91 R⊙. The 21-year time series of travel-time measurements was split into three seven-year subsets and transformed to obtain power spectra in a corotating frame. Results. The power spectra all show peaks near the frequencies of the classical sectoral Rossby waves for azimuthal wavenumbers in the range 3 ≤ m ≤ 15. The mode frequencies and linewidths of the modes with m ≤ 9 are consistent with a previous study whereas modes with m ≥ 10 are shifted toward less negative frequencies by 10–20 nHz. While most of these modes have e-folding lifetimes on the order of a few months, the longest lived mode, m = 3, has an e-folding lifetime of more than one year. For each mode, the rms velocity at the equator is in the range of 1–3 m s−1, with the largest values for m ∼ 10. No evidence for the m = 2 sectoral mode is found in the power spectrum, implying that the rms velocity of this mode is below ∼0.5 m s−1. Conclusions. This work confirms the existence of equatorial global Rossby waves in the solar interior over the past two solar cycles and shows that time-distance helioseismology is a promising technique to study them deep in the convection zone.

Abstract:
Influence of structural lineaments as a trigger of mass movements in the Uruburetama massif, Ceará state, Brazil A B S T R A C TThe geological structures arrangement in plateau areas is an important element in understanding the dynamics that occur on the surface of their slopes and which is responsible for relief sculpting. In this context, gravitational movements stand out, which can generate economic, environmental and human losses in high energy events and / or with large extension. This research analyzed the influence of structural lineaments in the gravitational movements triggering in the Uruburetama massif, located in the state of Ceará. The methodology consisted of automatic extraction of lineaments from the Digital Elevation Model (DEM) provided by the ALOS PALSAR orbital sensor. From the average of directional filters applied at 0°, 45°, 90° and 135° of illumination it was possible to enhance the linear features of the original image, facilitating their extraction. Subsequently, maps of spatial distribution and lineaments density were developed, as well as a rosette diagram. Such products subsidized the analysis of the disposition of the main structural trends of the area, emphasizing that the higher density and the predominant orientation of lineaments may be indicative of the degree of susceptibility to the occurrence of mass movements in the Uruburetama massif, if the dominant physical conditions and the degree of human intervention on the slopes are also considered. The results showed that the structural lineaments obtained automatically, when analyzed together with the environmental characteristics can be applied in the susceptibility analysis to the occurrence of mass movements. Keywords: ALOS PALSAR, directional filters, image fusion, lineaments extraction

Abstract:
Soil fertility is largely determined by the content and quality of soil organic matter. SlovakRepublic monitoring system includes evaluation of soil humus content, basic humic parameters and also chemical structure of humic acids (HA). Changes in humic acids structure on five selected key localities during monitoring period (1994–2000) are presented in this study. Among soil types, essentially between Chernozem and Planosol, in elemental analysis, optical parameter and 13C NMR parameters significant differences determined by Student’s test were observed (Tables 2 and 3). During monitoring period small oxidation trend mainly on Calcaric Fluvisol and Planosol HA expressed by increase of oxygen content and O/C, O/H ratio was observed. Oxidation trends during monitoring period confirm also position of Calcaric Fluvisol and Planosol HA on van Krevelen diagram. Changes in optical parameter E1%6and content of carboxylic groups for the period of monitoring were negligible. Some changes throughout monitoring in 13C NMR parameters were recorded. On all observed HA considerable decrease of carbon in region 106–143 ppm, characteristic for aromatic and olefinic carbon with C–C, C–H bond, was observed. Spectroscopic parameters are in good agreement with elemental analysis and carboxylic groups. Joint relationships between changes in determined parameters are expressed by significant linear correlations. Predominantly between parameters calculated from 13C NMR spectra and data of elemental analysis and optical parameter E1%6highly significant linear correlations (R > 0.93) are found (Table 4).

Abstract:
Kata kunci: Rinitis alergi, RANTES, skor gejala total ABSTRACT Background: Allergic rhinitis (AR) is an inflammatory disease of nasal mucosa which is mediated by Imunoglobulin E (IgE) as a response to an allergic exposure. One important sign of an allergic process is the infiltration of inflammatory cells particullary eosinophils into the mucosal tissue, which release a variety of basic proteins that may damage the nasal mucosal epithelium. The process of migration and infiltration of inflammatory cells was strongly influenced by the role of regulated upon activation normal T cell expressed and secreted (RANTES). Evaluation of AR can be done by calculating total symptoms score (TSS) and RANTES levels in nasal secretion. Purpose: This study aimed to prove the relation between the levels of RANTES nasal secretion and TSS in AR patients. Methods: Research was conducted at Allergy–Immunology Division of Otorhinolaryngology–Head and Neck Surgery (ORL-HNS) Outpatient Department of Dr. Soetomo Hospital, Surabaya in July to December 2015. Samples were taken by consecutive sampling and obtained 49 samples. Levels of RANTES in nasal secretion were measured by ELISA method. Total symptoms scores were obtained by accumulating all the symptoms, either nasal symptoms or non nasal symptoms. This study used correlation of Pearson as the statistical analytic test. Results: Mean (SD) RANTES of this study was 17.68 pg/ml (8.24) and mean (SD) of TSS was 11.37 pg/ml (3.15). Scatter plot diagram showed that data were distributed normally. The results of Pearson test showed that there were significant correlation between the levels of RANTES nasal secretion and TSS in AR patients with correlation coefficient (r)=0.426 and p=0.002. Conclusion: There was a positive relationship with moderate correlation between the levels of RANTES nasal secretion and TSS in allergic rhinitis patients. Keywords: Allergic rhinitis, RANTES, total symptom scores

Abstract:
A B S T R A C TThe greatest obstacle to conducting climate studies in Northeast Brazil is the lack of continuous data series, long-term, spatially well-distributed, and high-quality observations. Alternative sources of data have been sought. One of the main tools for long-term atmospheric studies is the global and regional climate models. The use of a regional model allows the obtaining of continuous four-dimensional series, related to any atmospheric phenomenon. From the regional models available in the literature, the Weather Research and Forecasting (WRF) have been standing out as a model of last generation of numerical forecast of weather and climate. The objective of this study was to evaluate the sensitivity of the WRF model to the different physical parameterization options on the northern Northeast of Brazil (NNEB). The convection scheme that best represented the weather and climate conditions for the NNEB would be chosen. The choice was made by comparing the results of the simulations with the rain data of the MERGE / CPTEC product. The analyzes were performed for two cases of mesoscale convective systems (SCN) on the NNEB, which occurred on January 14 and March 30, 2016. In the obtained results, it was possible to perceive that the simulations showed great differences according to the cumulus scheme used. The Taylor Diagram was used as a statistical tool to analyze the dexterity of the WRF simulations in relation to the observed data, resulting in the parameterization of Grell (E5) in the event of the day 01/01 and Grelle Freitas (E5) for the day 30 / 03, with BIAS around 1.Keywords: Regional modeling, Precipitation, Climatology.

Abstract:
ABSTRACT We present a comprehensive photometric analysis of a young open cluster NGC 1960 (= M36) along with the long-term variability study of this cluster. Based on the kinematic data of Gaia DR2, the membership probabilities of 3871 stars are ascertained in the cluster field among which 262 stars are found to be cluster members. Considering the kinematic and trigonometric measurements of the cluster members, we estimate a mean cluster parallax of 0.86 ± 0.05 mas and mean proper motions of μRA = −0.143 ± 0.008 mas yr−1 and μDec. = −3.395 ± 0.008 mas yr−1. We obtain basic parameters of the cluster such as E(B − V) = 0.24 ± 0.02 mag, log(Age/yr) = 7.44 ± 0.02, and d = 1.17 ± 0.06 kpc. The mass function slope in the cluster for the stars in the mass range of 0.72–7.32 M⊙ is found to be γ = −1.26 ± 0.19. We find that mass segregation is still taking place in the cluster which is yet to be dynamically relaxed. This work also presents first high-precision variability survey in the central 13 arcmin × 13 arcmin region of the cluster. The V-band photometric data accumulated on 43 nights over a period of more than 3 yr reveals 76 variable stars among which 72 are periodic variables. Among them, 59 are short period (P < 1 d) and 13 are long period (P > 1 d). The variable stars have V magnitudes ranging between 9.1 to 19.4 mag and periods between 41 min and 10.74 d. On the basis of their locations in the H–R diagram, periods, and characteristic light curves, 20 periodic variables belong to the cluster are classified as 2 δ-Scuti, 3 γ-Dor, 2 slowly pulsating B stars, 5 rotational variables, 2 non-pulsating B stars, and 6 as miscellaneous variables.

Abstract:
Ginger (Zingiber officinale R.), lemon (Citrus limon L.) and mint (Mentha sp.) are commonly consumed medicinal plants that have been of interest due to their health benefits and purported antioxidant capacities. This study was conducted on the premise that no previous study has been performed to elucidate the antioxidant and phenolic profile of the ginger, lemon and mint herbal tea infusion (GLMT). The aim of the study was to investigate and characterise the phenolic contents of ginger, lemon, mint and GLMT, as well as determine their antioxidant potential. Mint recorded the highest total phenolic content, TPC (14.35 ± 0.19 mg gallic acid equivalent/g) and 2,2′-azino-bis(3-e-thylbenzothiazoline-6-sulfonic acid), ABTS (24.25 ± 2.18 mg ascorbic acid equivalent/g) antioxidant activity. GLMT recorded the highest antioxidant activity in the reducing power assay, RPA (1.01 ± 0.04 mg ascorbic acid equivalent/g) and hydroxyl radical scavenging assay, •OH-RSA (0.77 ± 0.08 mg ascorbic acid equivalent/g). Correlation analysis showed that phenolic content positively correlated with the antioxidant activity. Venn diagram analysis revealed that mint contained a high proportion of exclusive phenolic compounds. Liquid chromatography coupled with electrospray ionisation and quadrupole time of flight tandem mass spectrometry (LC-ESI-QTOF-MS/MS) characterised a total of 73 phenolic compounds, out of which 11, 31 and 49 were found in ginger, lemon and mint respectively. These characterised phenolic compounds include phenolic acids (24), flavonoids (35), other phenolic compounds (9), lignans (4) and stilbene (1). High-performance liquid chromatography photometric diode array (HPLC-PDA) quantification showed that GLMT does contain a relatively high concentration of phenolic compounds. This study presented the phenolic profile and antioxidant potential of GLMT and its ingredients, which may increase the confidence in developing GLMT into functional food products or nutraceuticals.

Abstract:
Abstract:

Abstract:
Context. Ionized outflows are ubiquitous in non-radio-loud obscured quasars (QSO2s) at different redshifts. However, the actual size of the outflows and their efficiency for gas ejection and star formation truncation are controversial. Large-scale (exceeding several kiloparsec) extended radio structures might be necessary to identify (even to trigger) outflow signatures across such large spatial scales. Aims. We search for large-scale ionized outflows associated with six optically selected QSO2 (five non-radio-loud and one radio-loud) at z ∼ 0.2−0.5, targeting objects with extended radio structures. We also investigate the dynamical state of the QSO2 host galaxies. Methods. We obtained data with the optical imager and long-slit spectrograph (OSIRIS) mounted on the 10.4m Gran Telescopio Canarias Spanish telescope (GTC) for these six QSO2 with the slit located along the radio axis. We traced the gas kinematics with the [OIII]λλ4959,5007 lines to investigate ionized outflows and characterize the dynamical state of the host galaxies. This second study was complemented with previously published spectroscopic data obtained with the multimode focal reducer and low dispersion spectrograph (FORS2) mounted on the Very Large Telescope (VLT) of 13 more QSO2 at similar z. Results. We identify ionized outflows in four out of the six QSO2 observed with the GTC. The outflows are spatially unresolved in two QSO2 and compact in a third (radial size of R = 0.8 ± 0.3 kpc). Of particular interest is the radio-quiet QSO2 SDSS 0741+3020 at z = 0.47. It is associated with a giant ∼112 kpc nebula. An ionized outflow probably induced by the radio structures has been detected along the axis defined by the central ∼1″ radio structure, extending up to at least ∼4 kpc from the active galactic nucleus (AGN). Turbulent gas (σ ∼ 130 km s−1) has also been detected across the giant gas nebula up to ∼40 kpc from the AGN. This turbulence may have been induced by outflows triggered by the interaction between a so-far undetected large-scale radio source and the nebula. Regarding the dynamical state of the host galaxies, we find that the majority of the QSO2 show v/σ < 1, implying that they are dominated by random motions (so-called dispersion-dominated systems). Most (17 of 19) fall in the area of the E/S0 galaxies in the dynamical diagram v/σ versus σ. None are consistent with spiral or disk galaxies.

Abstract:
Background:Fatigue in rheumatoid arthritis (RA) is prevalent, intrusive, and disabling [1-3]. It has been shown that fatigue can be reduced, in at least some people with rheumatoid arthritis, using group interventions based on cognitive-behavioral principles [1]. However, the vast majority of the (about 40% [2]) severely fatigued people with rheumatoid arthritis does not have or does not want access to group therapy. Objectives:To develop a self-help booklet aimed at targeting fatigue in rheumatoid arthritis based on cognitive-behavioral principles. Methods:Based on the assumption that the most strongly influencing factors of fatigue differ between people [3], a comprehensive patient-centered approach was chosen. The booklet should be easy to read (big fonts, text boxes, bulleted text, and illustrations). Needed materials should be included. Results:In the booklet, factors that may influence fatigue are demonstrated by a hanging mobile toy, a device with stars or other figures hanging from the ceiling. If one piece moves, all the other pieces move as well. Every individual piece that is part of the mobile influences the other. However, every mobile is different. The large differences in balance between components of mobiles can be compared to the large variety of influences on fatigue in people. Patients first need to identify which factors seem especially important influencers of their own fatigue by sorting seven cards that are included in the booklet. They put the factor of which they think that it most influences their fatigue at the top and the factor that least influences their fatigue at the bottom. The seven cards are:1) severe overweight,2) disease activity,3) day-night rhythm and sleep,4) physical activity,5) emotions and negative thoughts,6) pain, and7) another influence.Interventions targeting these factors are discussed in separate sections of the booklet. Users are invited to start reading the sections with advice regarding the factors that most influence their fatigue. The foldable back cover of the booklet includes the set of seven cards of influencing factors, a diagram to make a 7-day 24-hours day-night rhythm schedule, and instructions to make an action plan. Conclusion:In the Netherlands, the text can be obtained online and as a booklet in rheumatology departments of hospitals and through a national patient association, free of charge. The booklet was translated into English, which makes it accessible to a larger group of patients. It may take up to two months to successfully change lifestyle. It’s an, as yet not empirically verified, hope that the booklet will be more successful than a traditional educational brochure.References:[1]Hewlett S, Almeida C, Ambler N, et al.
