Abstract:
Internet users are growing rapidly from time to time throughout the world, including Indonesia. As a result, consumer needs in terms of making payments have changed towards non-cash payments, namely e-wallets, which have become a huge potential in the e-commerce market. The preference for e-wallet transactions is increasing compared to using cash on hand. Most of its users are millennials, including students. This study examines knowledge related to the use of e-wallets and the reasons behind its use. The study involve ten college students, consisting of nine female students, and a male student whose age varies between 19 and 23 years. They come from various universities. Using qualitative approach, this study use in-depth interview as the primary data collection technique and secondary data obtained from relevant website. This research shows that e-wallet is not only understood as a place to store money electronically, but also as a digital payment. In Indonesia there are various e-wallet products. Among others OVO, Gopay, and DANA are the most popular ones. There are three aspects related to the students’ knowledge about e-wallet: source of information, features, and its use. Advertisements from social media, television, and transportation applications are the main sources of information about e-wallets. E-wallet offered various features, such as topping up, paying bills and pulses, and transferring and withdrawing from e-wallets to bank partners. E-wallet is used for a variety of purpose, such as to pay online transportation, to buy food/drinks, to pay bills, etc. There are three basic reasons why students use e-wallet as a payment method, namely because of the promos offered, convenience in transactions, and ease to operate. To attract people to use e-wallets, service providers must work with various merchants, whose promos are increasingly attracting users to use e-wallet for payment. In using e-wallets, students not only feel comfortable, but also convenience in payment because it can be done anywhere as long as the user is connected to the internet. Keywords : Millenial generation, students, e-wallet, internet, cashless, and digital payment.

Abstract:
E-Wallet has been applied in Muslim and non-Muslim jurisdictions in many parts of the world including Malaysia, China, India, and Korea. The application is widely used and has raised questions with regard to legal and shariah issues. This paper aims to analyse specifically, legal issues affecting e-wallet practices. This paper adopted a qualitative research approach. The data collected include document reviews, ethnographical interviews and observations. This study found several legal issues related to e-wallet inter alia, an unclear position on the liability of board directors of e-wallet operators, breach of mandate and exclusion of liability of e-wallet operators. As e-wallet is important as an enabler to increase financial inclusion, it is important to address the legal issues on e-wallet to enhance good governance and best practices of e-wallet in Malaysia. The findings from this paper can be used as a basis for policymakers including scholars in the formulation of guidelines on legal and shariah compliance of e-wallets.

Abstract:
Background: An e-wallet is a digital equivalent of a physical wallet which plays an essential role in payment system transformation. To embrace the concept of a cashless society, the Malaysian Government and central bank have taken various steps to encourage the adoption of e-wallets. Despite the seamless services offered by the e-wallet, it is yet to reach high-scale adoption in Malaysia. This study aims to investigate Malaysians’ readiness towards the e-wallet and their perceptions of it by employing the UTAUT2 model. Methods: A total of 309 valid data were gathered and analysed with partial least squares structural equation modelling (PLS-SEM). Results: The findings revealed that the respondents were confident about the new technology and tended to believe that e-wallet was somehow useful for them. The results also disclosed that e-wallet adoption intention was significantly influenced by performance expectancy, price value, facilitating conditions, and followed closely by social influence. Nonetheless, insecurity did not present significant impact on both performance expectancy and effort expectancy of e-wallet. Conclusions: This study provides a substantial contribution to the knowledge domain by combining system-specific and individual-specific models in an e-wallet context. The outcomes of this study would also benefit e-wallet service providers and policymakers by delivering holistic insight into Malaysians’ readiness and adoption behaviour of the e-wallet.

PurposeThis study aims to explore the challenges and prospects of using e-wallets in Malaysia, and what it means for businesses and customers. Suggested here are strategies to leverage the strengths and opportunities as well as overcome the weaknesses and threats. Suggested here are strategies to leverage the strengths and opportunities as well as overcome the weaknesses and threats.Design/methodology/approachThis study analyses the e-wallet phenomenon using a SWOT (Strengths, Weaknesses, Opportunities and Threats) analysis to assess Malaysian business development. It is supported with findings from the literature and secondary data. The relevant secondary data were collected from Bank Negara Malaysia and the World Bank.FindingsThis study shows that e-wallets in Malaysia have still not achieved their purpose but there is huge potential to do so. The SWOT analysis identified several strengths (e.g. financial incorporation, easy to access, protection and safety, simple for other accounts to connect to, product and consumer service management, quick to implement/administer), weaknesses (e.g. lack of infrastructure and the “tapping” of devices already cornered by the mobile phone market, opportunities (e.g. eliminating fraud, better customer service, promotion/loyalty that can be built into customer experience) and threats (e.g. attacks from viruses, frequent inquiries whether multiple wallets can be used by clients, the concerns of reckless spending behaviour of the e-wallet users).Research limitations/implicationsThis study is crucial for assessing the current situation and the prospects of e-wallets in Malaysia. This study also offers significant insights for policymakers and e-wallet service providers to develop appropriate strategies to enhance e-wallet services in Malaysia.Originality/valueThis paper is the first of its kind to integrate a SWOT analysis and the rapid development of the e-wallet market in Malaysia. Hence, the findings could broaden our knowledge on the fintech industry and enable firms to participate in the e-wallet market.

Abstract:
E-wallets have been widely adopted in Indonesian society, providing opportunities for fintech companies to competeon delivering the best service. There has been considerable research conducted on the use of e-wallet services acrossthe globe, however not so many research have provided a comprehensive analysis of the profiles and characteristicsof e-wallet users in Indonesia. This study aims to fill that gap by investigating the profile and characteristics ofusers of the top five e-wallet services in Indonesia based on their popularity, i.e., GoPay, OVO, Dana, LinkAja andShopeePay. This study also aims to understand the differences in user demographic information of each e-wallet.Using the Multiple Corresponding Analysis (MCA) method on the survey data from 409 users of e-wallet services inIndonesia, this study identifies several different profiles of users, i.e., three clusters based on e-wallet ownership andseven clusters based on the most frequently used e-wallet services. The results of this study can help to provide a betterunderstanding of the profiles and characteristics of the e-wallet users in Indonesia, which can be used as inputs to serviceproviders to improve the quality of service they provide to their customers and to reach an even broader audience.

Abstract:
During the COVID-19 pandemic, e-payment systems, also known as cashless payment systems, have steadily evolved as a payment system instrument. Changes in payment methods, followed by a growth in digital payment systems, may be driving people to use e-wallets. The functions of an e-wallet are similar to those of an e-banking or mobile banking account, but an e-wallet gives greater convenience and simplicity of access while making payments. Because the use of e-wallets can help reduce the spread of COVID-19-causing coronaviruses, this study looks into the possibilities of increasing e-wallet usage while also increasing the use of digital payment and online transactions during the COVID-19 outbreak.

Abstract:
The growth of cashless payment has grown exponentially, including that of e-wallet, in line with the government's plan to build a cashless society. The e-wallet phenomenon is fast becoming an important component for financial inclusion in emerging economies as studies found that the use of digital financial services like mobile money and other fintech applications could provide many potential development benefits. Countries like China have experienced the highest growth in cashless payments over the last five years and is said to be the most educated on mobile payment services. Despite the rapid development of this technology, organizations and consumers are still concerned about rising security issues. As the e-wallets markets are further expected to increase exponentially in Malaysia, it is crucial to study the consumers' behavioral intention to use e-wallets for the benefits of e-wallets service providers and users in Malaysia. Correspondingly, this paper presents a review of the literature aimed at advancing the body of knowledge by proposing a conceptual model on consumers' behavioral intention to use e-wallet (mobile payment) using UTAUT2 as a baseline model. This paper is built upon a systematic literature review method. This paper provides practical implications that would assist e-wallet service providers when devising appropriate strategies in planning and increasing consumers' intention to use the e-wallet.

Abstract:
As the use of mobile payment applications (apps) and electronic wallets (e-wallets)increases, so does the demand for a improved user experience when interactingwith these apps. The field of Human-Computer interaction (HCI) focuses onthe design, evaluation, and implementation of interactive computing systems forhuman use. One aspect of HCI is usability, i.e., the quality of the interactions witha product or system. This thesis investigates how an e-wallet can be designed to provide a high level ofusability by conforming to best HCI practices and by formative evaluation using aset of usability evaluation methods. The research process consisted of an initial literature study and developmentof a prototype, which was evaluated iteratively through Thinking-aloud-protocol(TAP) and a combination of performance measurements and questionnaire by achosen test group. By each iteration, the results of the performance measurements, as well as theverbal data improved. The most complex or difficult task, for the test subjectsto perform, was, according to the results, Pay via manual input. All goals wereachieved for all tasks except for the performance goal of a percentage of errorsbelow 5%. To conclude, it was clear that the test subjects had more trouble understandingthe concept of the e-wallet rather than navigating and completing tasks. Thedifficulties lay in understanding how currencies were stored and how transactionshappened. When developing this e-wallet we noticed that the most importantissue was to make new functions and concepts familiar to the user through relatingit to recognizable ideas.

Abstract:
With the rise of blockchain technology and cryptocurrency, secure e-wallets also become more important. But what makes an e-wallet secure? In this report, we compare different aspects of ewallets to see which alternatives are secure and convenient enough to be used. This report contains comparative analyses of different implementation for e-wallets. The problem area is divided into three smaller areas: Key storage, authentication, and recovery. These problem areas have defined criteria for what is considered good qualities in each respective area. The results show that for key storage, the best options are, Android’s keystore/IOS’ secure enclave, offline storage or a hybrid hot/cold storage. For authentication, the best alternatives proved to be BankID and local authentication through the phone’s OS. Good Recovery alternatives include recovery seeds that recover the whole e-wallet or using multiple keys for both signing and recovery. The proof of concept made for this project uses three different storage methods with the authentication methods for each one and with the possibility of recovery in case a key should be lost. The storage methods used are offline storage thought QR-codes, online storage with firebase and local storage with Android keystore or Secure enclave. Authentication is done with Facebook/Google sign in or local authentication.

This paper analyses how the Zimbabwean economic history has led to the perception and attitude of the population towards the financial industry. It has been blighted by extremes to the extent that in 2008 the Zimbabwe economy had one of the highest hyperinflation rate in the world. Pettinger sums up the hyperinflation journey of Zimbabwe as having begun in the 1990s shortly after the disastrous land reform. This is where private farms were grabbed from landowners and re-allocated to mostly peasant farmers who had no technical know-how in farming. It was also a time when the country was involved in an unbudgeted and unsolicited second Congo civil war necessitating that the Government increase salaries to cater for soldiers and other officials assigned to the Congo. Earlier on the government had buckled under pressure from former war liberators (war veterans) and paid out unbudgeted bonuses.

Abstract:

The use of mobile devices as a payment device has been growing over the last few years. Although some deployments of digital wallets have been successful, there is still no standard to be used by market. This work aims to present a solution for mobile payment through the use of a digital wallet. This solution must be heterogeneous, being made available to the largest possible number of mobile devices such as mobile phones and tablets, and should allow payment between two users without internet connection. The solution also considers the context information of the user, and seeks to offer a different solution to the end user through the application interface with a server application to be installed on the premises. Safety is also an important item, and the model should provide for the use of a secure element, ensuring the security of information stored on the device. We developed a prototype of the proposed architecture, called Unipag. The prototype was developed by evaluating four different solutions digital wallet, two academic solutions and two commercial solutions. The prototype was initially developed for the Android system, and were assessed twice. The evaluation scenarios demonstrated the successful use of the application for daily payment scenarios. The usability evaluation demonstrated that the application is easy to use, and 96% of users would use the application if available. The results encourage the study and demonstrate the feasibility of the solution.

Abstract:
A mobile wallet is a mobile application that is intended to replace leather wallets. With high mobile and Internet penetration and increased life expectancy in developed economies, adoption of mobile wallets by the older population is becoming more important due to new trends. Therefore, this thesis aims to understand and increase adoption of mobile wallets in developed economies by the citizens between the ages of 50 to 75. Based on the mobile payment technology acceptance model (MPTAM) and an extensive literature review, a simplified model is suggested. Three sub-questions (on 1 - social influence, 2 - perceived security, trust and risks, and 3 – perceived ease of use) are proposed for further study, which has been suggested in the literature to have more importance for the targeted demography. An exploratory qualitative study based on in-depth semi-structured interviews was conducted. The findings show that social influence can have direct or indirect effects. Moreover, several factors were identified that seems to have impacts on the degree to which a content can influence people. In addition, perceived trust, security, and risks seem to be the most important impediment for the adoption of mobile wallets, especially for risk-averse people. Furthermore, perceived ease of use can improve the values that mobile wallets may provide. Perceived ease of use is more important for the targeted age group since some of the potential users in this age group has reduced learning and physical abilities. Finally, many implications of the findings and methods to improve the adoption of mobile wallets for the selected demography, i.e. restriction and customization, use of familiar design, use of strong brands, etc. are suggested.

This work aims at presenting a usability and architectural model for a mobile payment system. In our model, we assume independence of devices, of location, of mobile operator, and of administrator, to allow all kinds of payment in ubiquitous environments (Ubiquitous Commerce). In this work, we begin describing motivation, goals, and fundamental concepts, in which the proposed model is based. Next, we present related works and a detailed comparative analysis of those projects, deriving the most important features. Later, we propose a model of mobile payment, called 4iPay, based on those features. We detail the 4iPay model, architecture, features, and the technical-scientific proposal of an electronic commerce system in ubiquitous environments. We consider, in the proposed model, the convergence of various related works in terms of ubiquity, unity, universality, and unison. Thus, 4iPay aims at bringing together the best features, innovating and improving in some aspects. In the model, we propose a distinguished solution in terms of architecture, business model, usability, low bandwidth consumption and high performance in payment and receipt transactions. We also consider issues such as device independence, physical location, security and reliability, and other features related to mobile electronic commerce transactions, such as optimizing communications protocols usage and flexibility in local or remote connections. We also present the effective use in scenarios of where and how 4iPay can be applied. For this purpose we present the prototype developed to evaluate the model. Finally, we present the scenarios assessment results, the application performance evaluation and the proposed model acceptance survey.

Lentinus citrinus (Walleyn e Rammeloo) DPUA 1535 from Culture Collections DPUA 1535/UFAM was analyzed as the production of proteases by submerged culture. A full factorial design 25 with three central points was established to evaluate the influence of nutrient sources, pH of the culture medium, temperature and incubation time, in the production of biomass and proteases. The extraction of proteases from culture broth with higher activity was prepared by aqueous two-phase systems, PEG/phosphate by using a full factorial design 23 with three central points. The results showed that the best condition for growth and proteases production was determinated in medium formulated with soluble starch, gelatin, pH 7,0, 25 oC in 5 days. It was found, in culture conditions, that only nitrogen source and temperature were significant in growth of L. citrinus, while for proteases production all variables were statistically significant. In PEG-phosphate systems, in all runs, the proteases moved to top phase, as well as the best conditions for extraction of enzymes were with obtained with PEG 6000, 17,5% (w/w) and phosphate 25% (w/w).

The present work describes the synthesis of a new catalyst of palladium nanoparticles supported on multi-walled carbon nanotubes containing nitrogen (Pd@CNxNCPM) 1 and its use in carbon-carbon coupling reactions (Suzuki and Heck) as well as reactions catalytic hydrogenation (reduction of double C-C bonds and nitro compounds reduction). The synthetic strategy employed afforded the simple way to obtain the catalyst with reaction in a short time and efficiently. To this was employed as the palladium precursor, the salt potassium hexacloropalladate IV and hydrazine monohydrate as the reducing agent, without the need for stabilizing agents for the control of nucleation and size of nanoparticle. The catalyst system was characterized as its morphology: dispersion, size and shape of nanoparticles by scanning electron microscopy. Also the catalyst was performed Raman spectroscopy and determination of amount of palladium. After characterization the catalyst, it was tested for coupling reactions of carbon-carbon: Suzuki and Heck leading to the formation of their products with 70-> 95% for Suzuki coupling and 75-> 95% for Heck. For the synthesis in question were used 0.5 mol% of catalyst (based amount of palladium) for Suzuki and 10 mol% for Heck. It should be noted that the catalyst shown stable in the reaction conditions tested, and observed the possibility of reuse of this system for additional reaction cycles without loss of efficiency for the Suzuki coupling. Also, the catalyst was efficient and chemoselectiv for catalytic hydrogenations of unsaturated carbon-carbon bonds and nitro compounds leading to their products in good yields. Thus, the synthesized catalyst proved versatile and can be used in reactions of carbon-carbon coupling well as in catalytic reduction may also be recovered and reused, which provides an environmentally friendly at the same characteristic.
