Abstract:
W. W. Eagle in 1937 described two patients with elongated styloid processes, cervico-facial pain and a history of pharyngeal trauma. Selected case reports are used to illustrate the spectrum of Eagle's Syndrome. An analysis of the prevailing theories of etiology and causation is undertaken correlating anatomy, embryology, and physiology to derive a clearer understanding of Eagle's Syndrome.

Abstract:
A controversial entity, Eagle's syndrome, is reviewed. After an anatomical description of the maxillo-vertebro-pharyngeal region we summarize the causative, diagnostic and therapeutic aspects of the syndrome. Two different conditions are often reported as Eagle's syndrome: one characterized by dysphagia and unilateral pharyngeal pain radiating to the ear and worsened by swallowing; the other characterized by pain in the head and neck region due to compression of the neurovascular structure by an elongated styloid process. The latter also includes typical cranial neuralgias (such as glossophary

Abstract:

Abstract:
Atypical face pain refers to a collection of disorders characterised by vague, deep, poorly localized pain and is usually without a specific cause. Atypical pain radiating to the head and neck region may also be caused by elongation of the styloid process or calcification of the stylohyoid ligament. One condition which must always be considered in the differential diagnosis of any vague or orofacial pain is Eagle’s syndrome. Eagle syndrome typically has no symptoms and affects women in the 30- to 50-year-old age range. Radiological examination and clinical observations are used to diagnose Eag

Context: Eagle syndrome is characterized by the elongation or disfiguration of the styloid process, which leads to a range of clinical manifestations resulting from the structures that are affected by the prolongation of the bone, and the classic presentation is composed of pain and foreign body sensation in the throat, otalgia, and dysphagia. Case report: We describe the case of a 60-year-old man with an ischemic stroke due to dissection of the left internal carotid artery, associated with compression resulting from Eagle syndrome. Background and aims: In 2020 a global pandemic was declared caused by the severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus (SARS-CoV-2). The pandemic is still ongoing and continues to cause considerable mortality and morbidity world-wide and new variants of the virus are emerging. Rapid development and rollout of vaccines for SARS-CoV-2 is in progress to counter the pandemic but has been tempered by the emergence of new SARS-CoV-2 variants, many of which exhibit reduced vaccine effectiveness. To date there is no approved antiviral treatment for coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19). Several studies
