It refers to an event where a gradual change of external forcing causes a sudden, large, often unwanted, transition to the state of the system. Some examples of known tipping events in science include: Arctic sea ice melting (climate), epileptic seizures (biology), collapse of ecosystems and populations (ecology) and market crashes (finance). Three mathematical mechanisms for tipping events have been proposed in the literature: bifurcation-, noise- or rate-induced tipping.

Abstract:
Fractal theory has been used in aquatic sciences to quantify scale-invariant relationships under the form of scaling or power laws, which represent patterns that help to understand the complex structure of exploited marine ecosystems and their populations through time. Fisheries time series are inherently variable and complex because they represent the interaction between population dynamics, oceanographic forcing’s and anthropogenic pressure (exploitation rates). Thus, to better understand the temporal dynamics of fisheries time series under the framework of fractal theory, smooth pink shrimp

Abstract:
Through the application of the Delphi technique, this study draws on the expertise of British child protection academics and practitioners from a wide range of disciplines in seeking to develop a consensus opinion on possible early indicators of child abuse and neglect. Underpinned by children's rights theory the study reflects an ideologically oriented mode of inquiry. The literature on childhood and research findings from work undertaken with adult survivors of abuse forms an important part of the background. The search for early indicators is described in the context of a secondary preventa
